The Best Actor in a Comedy of 2011 as voted by you the fans was.. Neil Patrick Harris - How I Met Your Mother. Neil winning best comedic actor wasnt too big of a stretch for the openly gay man who plays the well dressed womanizing egomaniac on HIMYM. His work as Barney Stinson has been legen...wait for it..... dary since the shows inception. NPH lead the category froms tart to finish, and after being snubbed for a finalist spot in last years first ever awards in the best actor category (genre specific categories didnt exist last year), he earned a win that he truly deserved. Neil had a stranglehold on the lead for the majority of the poll, although the lead shrank some on the final couple days, as runner up "The Big Bang Theory" star Jim Parsons closed iin, beating out his co-star, 3rd place TBBT cast member Johnny Galecki. The other challengers battled for the other positions far back of these big 3, as Cory Monteith from "Glee' narrowly snagged 4th ahead of a trio of "Community" stars Danny Pudi 5th, Joel McHale 6th & Chevy Chase 7th, Christian Slater on "Breaking In" took 8th, Henry Winkler from "Children's Hospital" snagged 9th and Chris Pratt from "Parks & Recreation" rounded out the finalists. This category was the only category The Big Bang Theory didnt win in the comedy genre. Final vote results Neil Patrick Harris "How I Met Your Mother" 763 Jim Parsons "The Big Bang Theory" 655 Johnny Galecki "The Big Bang Theory" 459 Cory Monteith "Glee' 226 Danny Pudi "Community" 219 Joel McHale "Community" 205 Chevy Chase "Community" 164 Christian Slater "Breaking In" 141 Henry Winkler "Children's Hospital" 110 Chris Pratt "Parks & Recreation" 88
The Best Actress in a Comedy of 2011 as voted by you the fans was.. Kaley Cuoco - The Big Bang Theory. When I was looking at finalists for all the categories, I pretty much expected this outcome. The woman behind many nerds & geeks dream character Penny had the perfect storm of opinion poll potential for voting. Extremely attractive, funny character, on a vastly popular show, and of course, the fact her character has an on again/off again relationship with a self-proclaimed nerd were all the key ingredients to a probable win for this category...and she didnt let them down. Kaley had a sizable lead on runner up Jane Lynch from "Glee". Lynch had a quick early lead, but failed to keep up the pace & eventually fell behind the eventual champ. 3rd was another "The Big Bang Theory" star, Mayim Bialik, who came close to catching Lynch in the final couple days. 4th was "30 Rock" star Tina Fey, 5th was the oldest finalist in ANY category, 90 year old Betty White from "Hot In Cleveland", Lea Michele from "Glee" came in 6th narrowly passing 7th place Alison Brie from "Community". Maggie Lawson of "Psych" came in 8th & Megan Mullally from "Children's Hospital" rounded out the finalists in 9th. This category really showed the domination that The Big Bang Theory has in the comedy category. Finishing 1st in this category was not a shock, but a relative secondary character on the show managing to finish 3rd shows that fans of TBBT wildly love anything to do with their show. The ONLY thing that held back a sweep of the comedy categories for them was a well dressed womanizer in the actor category, or TBBT would have swept the genre. Final vote results Kaley Cuoco "The Big Bang Theory" 641 Jane Lynch "Glee" 416 Mayim Bialik "The Big Bang Theory" 396 Tina Fey "30 Rock" 358 Betty White "Hot In Cleveland" 317 Lea Michele "Glee" 273 Alison Brie "Community" 271 Maggie Lawson "Psych" 170 Megan Mullally "Children's Hospital" 127
The Best New Program of 2011 as voted by you the fans was.. Once Upon A Time. This fall ABC introducred families to a new spin on classic fairy tales. Once Upon A Time, the double world show based around the fairy tale world, and a small town in Maine called "Storybrooke" where all the classic fairy tale characters are trapped, with no recollection of who they are has generated lots of buzz amongst the public & TV critics. With a seemingly endless line of stories they can tell (each episode has recently centred on the story & backstory of 1 character or 1 specific fairy tale) the potential for "Once" to go strong for several years is certainly there. ABC cleverly picked a Sunday evening timeslot for the show, giving it a chance to be a ratings star as it appeals to families who are all together on a a weekend evening, and doesnt have to compete for TV viewers in mid-week when more adult aimed programming dominates the airwaves. "Once Upon A Time" had a comfortable lead in this category from start to finish. The cable hit "Game Of Thrones" was threatening early on to pass Once, but never quite did, eventually settling on 2nd place. The CW supernatural teen drama "The Secret Circle" finished 3rd, ABC drama "Revenge" finished 4th, CBS action/drama "Person Of Interest" finished 5th, despite winning the People's Choice Award in the same category, 6th was AMC's "The Killing", right behind there was "Alphas" in 8th & FOX comedy "Breaking In" rounded out the finalists.
Final vote Results Once Upon A Time 706 Game Of Thrones 545 The Secret Circle 314 Revenge 220 Person Of Interest 197 The Killing 130 Alphas 127 Breaking In 91
The Best "Supporting" Actor of 2011 as voted by you the fans was.. Mark Sheppard -Supernatural. Our supporting actress & actor awards had a little different style to it than the mainstream supporting acting awards. Ours was based on appearances, not screen-time. This gave several characters who otherwise might get ignored for their roles, a chance to win for their work. The "King Of Hell" Crowley was around striking deals in 2011 & the actor portraying the sharp tongued demon, Mark Sheppard won this poll. It really is a credit to Mr. Sheppard's acting skills that he was up for 2 different acting awards, from 2 different shows. Mark dominated the voting by the time it closed with over a 100 vote lead over another Supernatural troublemaker Sebastian Roche. Michael J. Fox from "The Good Wife" rounds out the top 3. Michael Cerveris "Fringe" finished 4th ahead of castmate Kevin Corrigan in 5th. Just 1 vote behind in 6th was "Once Upon A Time" star Lee Arenberg, Will Wheaton of "Eureka" was 7th, "Best guest star" winner Michael Rosenbaum was 8th for his work in "Breaking In", Ben Cotton "Hellcats" 9th narrowly ahead of Patrick Gilmore "The Killing" rounding out the finalists in 10th This category might have had the most different finalists who had at 1 point had the lead. Besides the eventual winner, Michael J. Fox, Lee Arenberg, Michael Cerveris & Wil Wheaton all had temporary leads in this category early on. Final vote results Mark Sheppard "Supernatural" 715 Sebastian Roche "Supernatural" 576 Michael J. Fox "The Good Wife" 346 Michael Cerveris "Fringe" 275 Kevin Corrigan "Fringe" 239 Lee Arenberg "Once Upon A Time" 238 Wil Wheaton "Eureka" 214 Michael Rosenbaum "Breaking In" 157 Ben Cotton "Hellcats" 114 Patrick Gilmore "The Killing" 111
The Best "Supporting" Actress of 2011 as voted by you the fans was.. Julia Maxwell -Supernatural. Our supporting actress & actor awards had a little different style to it than the mainstream supporting acting awards. Ours was based on appearances, not screen-time. This gave several characters who otherwise might get ignored for their roles, a chance to win for their work. Julia Maxwell as "Eve" on the last season of Supernatural was a little bit of a surprise to me, even as an SPN fan. As voting wound down, it seemed the SPN fans rallied behind many of their finalists, voting for anyone attached to the show. Maxwell was in a very close race with How I Met Your Mother challenger Jennifer Morrison for much of the voting, each leapfrogging the other several times. In the last 2 days, Ms. Maxwell was down by 10 votes, but the SPN fans rallied late in the voting to grab her a win. Julia narrowly beat out runner up Jennifer Morrison from "How I Met Your Mother". Well back in 3rd was a tie between Jayne Atkinson "Criminal Minds" & Charlyne Yi "House. A similar battle for the final 2 spots was playing out till the last day in voting when "The Killing" star Kacey Rohl, who was last by 3 votes just 48 hrs earlier, pulled away on "Hellcats" Magda Apanowicz in the final day of voting. This was 1 of the more interesting categories to me, as the high traffic volume I get on this site for Vancouver based shows really seemed to define the finalists. There was a finalist from a cancelled show, another finalist from a show whose only other finalist was another supporting acting category, and the winner was from a show, where her role was, to many fans, not overly relevant..and they all have ties to Vancouver. Add in the runner up is now on a Vancouver based show, and it really shows how my coverage of Vancouver based shows kind of defines the average viewers of my site. This award also goes down this year as the NARROWEST margain of victory this year. 14 votes. Final vote results Julia Maxwell "Supernatural" 450 Jennifer Morrison "How I Met Your Mother" 436 Jayne Atkinson "Criminal Minds" 203 Charlyne Yi "House" 203 Kacey Rohl "The Killing" 170 Magda Apanowicz "Hellcats" 131
The Best Animated Program of 2011 as voted by you is also the longest running Animated program that was nominated. The Simpsons! The lovable nuclear family from Springfield, Somewhere, USA topped the polls convincingly with nearly 500 votes. Now in its amazing 23rd season, the cartoon that developed from a skit on the Tracey Ullman show has been the flagship program of FOX for many years. Homer, Bart, Maggie, Marge, Lisa & the gang never really seemed in doubt to win from day 1 of the finals thru till the end. They opened up a large lead fast, and never looked back. Family Guy narrowly held on to 2nd place, after having a comfortable lead on the spot early on, as 3rd place Family Guy closed the gap near the end only losing by 22 votes. South Park finished 4th, and Phineas And Ferb (a write in challenger in the 1st round) rounded out the finalists, and came close to pulling itself out of the basement in the final couple days.
FINAL TOTALS THE SIMPSONS 489 FAMILY GUY 327 FUTURAMA 305 SOUTH PARK 254 PHINEAS AND FERB 240
The Best Couple of 2011 as voted by you the fans was.. Bo & Dr. Lauren Lewis - Lost Girl. One of the interesting things I have found from doing these polls for 2 years now is just how fanatical some fanbases are, including ones I knew nothing of going in. Such is the case of a Canadian show, "Lost Girl", more specifically, the fanbase of Zoie Palmer, who plays Dr. Lauren Lewis. Any & all categories this actress, or her character were in, finished considerably higher than I would have expected for a lesser known cable program. The fanbase was certainly eager to make sure their show got noticed. No more proof of the fans adoration for their favorite character can be seen than in this poll. The show essentially is supposed to revolve around "Bo", yet Bo had 2 different write in campaigns for best couple, the other couple campaign didnt even get out of round 1 of voting...while Bo & Dr. Lewis, not only got out of that round, but crushed the competition in it. Only in the last couple days of the finals, did the runner up start to gain on the sizable lead this couple had generated from the early days of voting.
Bo & Lauren beat out the "Smallville" supercouple of Clark Kent & Lois Lane by just over 200 votes, at 1 point had almost 400 vote lead in the early days of voting. The 3rd place finalists Richard Castle & Kate Beckett from "Castle" were even further behind. Even further back in 4th was the "Fringe" on again/off again pair of Olivia Dunham & Peter Bishop. Rounding out the finalists were Marshall Eriksen & Lily Aldrin from "How I Met Your Mother" just slightly ahead of Snow White & Prince Charming from "Once Upon A Time".
Bo & the Doctor were the only same-sex couple to garner any nominations, this perhaps was what vaulted them to the top as they crushed more known TV couples. I couldnt help but notice when I checked my google analytics, the amount of same sex blogs & websites that directed viewers to these polls to vote for their favorite couple (and other categories as well that Zoie Palmer/Dr. Lauren Lewis & Anna Silk/Bo were in), it rivaled & maybe even exceeded that of show fanbases that are familiar with this website. It was evident, their fans wanted them to get respect, get attention, get noticed. They certainly have now. The 1st ever Best Couple in the Best Of TV Awards polls, is a pair of females. Bo & Lauren.
Final vote totals Bo & Dr. Lauren Lewis "Lost Girl" 1170 Lois Lane & Clark Kent "Smallville" 968 Richard Castle & Kate Beckett "Castle" 649 Peter Bishop & Olivia Dunham "Fringe" 458 Marshall Eriksen & Lily Aldrin "How I Met Your Mother" 359 Snow White & Prince Charming "Once Upon A Time" 341
The Best Guest Star of 2011 as voted by you the fans was.. Michael Rosenbaum - Smallville. In the last season of the epic CW hit series Smallville, they brought in a plethora of guest stars from the past seasons to go out with a bang & to boost ratings. None were more prominent & anticipated than the return of Clark Kent's nemesis for several seasons, Lex Luthor, played by Michael Rosenbaum. Rosenbaum returned to the show that boosted his career for 1 final episode, the epic series finale.
Michael beat out another Smallville baddie, "Zod" actor Callum Blue finished 2, ahead of a plethora of Supernatural guest stars. James Marsters 3rd, Genevieve Padalecki 4th, Julian Richings 5th & Alona Tal in 6th. Perhaps too many choices for SPN fans prevented them from fighting for 1st. In 7th was Leverage guest star Mark Sheppard, 8th was How I Met Your Mother guest star Katie Holmes, 9th went to Community guest star Michelle Krusiec, and rounding out the finalists was Jennifer Love Hewitt from Hot In Cleveland.
Final vote totals. Michael Rosenbaum "Smallville" 833 Callum Blue "Smallville" 749 James Marsters "Supernatural" 611 Genevieve Padalecki "Supernatural" 575 Julian Richings "Supernatural" 476 Alona Tal "Supernatural" 456 Mark Sheppard "Leverage" 298 Katie Holmes "How I Met Your Mother" 195 Michelle Krusiec "Community" 184 Jennifer Love Hewitt "Hot In Cleveland" 181
The Best Episode of 2011 as voted by you the fans was.. The French Mistake - Supernatural. On February 25, 2011 the writers of Supernatural showed an episode of their masterpiece that poked a bit of fun at themselves. "The French Mistake" was an episode where the shows main stars, Sam & Dean Winchester (played by Jared Padalecki & Jensen Ackles) end up, thru 1 of the many odd occurances in the shows history, in the "real world" as they crash thru a fake glass window & find themselves on a TV show soundstage filming an episode of Supernatural. For the next hour, the show pokes fun at almost everything about the differences between the Winchester brothers, and the actors playing them, all while Sam & Dean try to work thru the fact they are nothing more than characters on a show in this world, played by a soap opera actor & a Polish guy with far too much money. They poke more fun at their side-kick co-star Misha Collins, as well as executive producer Robert "Bobby" Singer, and the shallowness of the industry as a whole. All in all, 1 of the better episodes the popular show has had in the past couple seasons.
The French Mistake had the lead for most of the voting, although it did temporarily slip behind eventual runner up "Finale" of Smallville. "Finale" finished far ahead of 3rd place challenger "The Day We Died" from Fringe. "Pilot" of Once Upon A Time was 4th, "The Skank Analysis Reflex" - The Big Bang Theory finished 5th, "Fire And Blood" from Game Of Thrones was 6th, The 2 part season finale "A Fistfull of Paintballs/For A Few Paintballs More" from Community took 7th, while "The Hot Potato Job" from Leverage finished 8th.
Final vote results "The French Mistake" Supernatural 949 "Finale" Smallville 865 "The Day We Died" Fringe 407 "Pilot" Once Upon A Time 298 "The Skank Analysis Reflex" The Big Bang Theory 273 "Fire And Blood" Game Of Thrones 236 "A Fistfull of Paintballs/For A Few Paintballs More" Community 205 "The Hot Potato Job" Leverage 180
The Best Non-human Character Or Prop of 2011 as voted by you is so known by its fans that, its absence from most of this current season has been a frustration and a topic of conversation amongst its fans daily. The winner is, The 1967 Impala from Supernatural. Born on April 24, 1967, As the prophet Chuck would tell the fans of Supernatural in episode 22 of season 5, "no one gave 2 craps about her, but they should have... because this 1967 Chevrolet Impala would turn out to be the most important car, no, most important object in pretty much the whole universe". Although the official ride of the paranormal hunters extraordinairre Sam & Dean Winchester has been mainly AWOL this season, many fans still love it more than many things in their own lives.
The Impala destroyed the challengers in the final, more than doubling its runner up, Gene, the cow from Fringe. Back in 3rd place was Dexter Morgan's knife from Dexter, the Doomsday Machine from Fringe was 4th, and Annies Boobs, the cleverly named monkey from Community was 5th.
Final vote results THE IMPALA - Supernatural 864 GENE - Fringe 344 DEXTER'S KNIFE - Dexter 265 DOOMSDAY MACHINE - Fringe 216 ANNIES BOOBS - Community 200
