On February 14, 2012 I shot a set for Fringe. It was episode 18. At the time, I was sure I would see several more Fringe sets to shoot...and while I did come across 3 more sets after this, I never had an opportunity (or desire) to shoot them. I naively believed I had more chances coming...those chances never arose. So this set of photos, could possibly be the LAST SET of photos I might have from Fringe EVER. Now personally, I want the show to come back obviously. It is my favorite Vancouver shot series. Ontop of that, the crew during their 3 years here, has been mostly all class with lookie-loos, fans & professionals alike viewing their work. Do I expect it to be back? YES. This isnt a "Yes, because I want it to" this is a "yes, because FOX & WB will reach an understanding that makes it possible" feeling. It will only be a 13 episode season. I am not naive enough to think they are rolling out a full season order. I also expect FOX to be VERY up front with the shows creators, crew, cast & fans that this will be it, there will be no season 6. But they will give them a 1/2 season to give the show a real send off, a real definitive ending that will resolve as many questions as they can. FOX is getting a lot of flack from fans that they are "screwing over" Fringe repeatedly. I can see the reasoning for this logic, but in reality, I think the people in charge at FOX have actually tried to keep it alive as long as it can. Truth is Fringe is a thinking mans shows. Its a show you have to pay attention to & has many moving parts. Unfortunately, society doesnt want that from television usually. It is more happy with brainless reality shows. Lets face it, even those of you who watch shows like American Idol or Dancing With the stars will admit, its braindead tv. There is nothing to it, its fluff entertainment. Sadly, this is what sells. I think its been to FOX's credit they have given Fringe 4 (probably 5) seasons despite lowering ratings. Someone at FOX obviously understands the quality vs quantity dilemma & is willing to back it, despite it being an obvious cash strain. The last Fringe set I stumbled across in season 4 (and dare I say... if FOX does the unspeakable..the last set I'll ever see) was back in February & judging by the time compared to the last shoot I saw (only a few days prior) this should be for episode 418, which airs TONIGHT!
This was a major moment for myself. I had photographed Olivia, Lincoln, Peter, Walter, Broyles, Nina & even a couple of their alt-world versions... but I had never photographed Astro... sorry, I mean Asterisk, till this day.
For the 1st time in my experiences, Jasika Nicole was on set shooting. I had met Jasika a couple times in the past, once on set where she was in fact not working but just passing by, and a couple times at the airport. But this was the 1st time i had seen her working on Fringe.
Also kind of fitting (if this IS my last Fringe set) that they had the whole main gang together for it. Walter, Peter, Olivia & Asirin, all together for once.
There wasnt a lot to the scene I can really tell you other than Olivia & Peter come walking from 1 direction, while Walter & Asteroid come from his car & meet them in the middle. They then converse a bit, and head inside a building.
Below are some of the photos I took that day where 2 or more cast were in 1 shot.. A few Peter & Olivia shots. Walter & Ostrich shots. Peter, Walter & Ashram shots. As well as the whole group in 1 frame, Peter, Walter, Olivia & Claire.

The day after the dramatic scene where Alt-Lincoln is killed (and I didnt even know it at the time) in episode 417 of Fringe that I posted about earlier this week ( http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/1/post/2012/04/fringe-filming-episode-417-everything-in-its-place-pics-of-fauxlivia-lincoln-guest-cast.html ), I found the Fringe shoot again. This time a 2 minute walk from my house. They were filming scenes that were shown earlier in the episode, before Alt-Lincoln was fatally shot by a sniper. The scenes involved Fauxlivia & both Lincolns outside a church (played by St. James Anglican Church) as they were going inside to investigate the Fringe event. It was a short scene, but it was important for moving along the storyline, as it showed our world Lincolns growing fascination & interest for Fauxlivia. Another thing. Many times I take pics that dont get posted. A LOT of those is the background design & art work done stuff. So today, here is a little shout out to the art team & set designers who do a terrific job on the show. I start off with a couple photos from their handiwork of the fake walls, quarantine poster & the quarantine barriers (which actually weigh very little & arent made out of cement... but look like real barriers even up close).

So here are some more pics from the filming I saw for Ep 417. For those who already saw the other set of Fauxlivia shots with her big machine gun ( http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/1/post/2012/04/fringe-filming-episode-417-everything-in-its-right-place-fauxlivia-with-a-big-gun.html ) here is a few other photos from the scene they shot. The scene seems to start with both Lincolns & Fauxlivia getting a prisoner into a Fringe Dept transportation vehicle in the Alt-universe. Before they have a chance to do this however, some gunfire takes place, Alt-Lincoln protects the "prisoner" while Olivia & our world Lincoln engage in firing back at the mystery person(s). Fauxlivia ges running to grab a big machine gun while Lincoln covers her. I really wish my camera picked up the smaller details, because I took pics of Lincoln firing off several shots in a row & although they were blanks, there was still smoke/something that comes off the gun as they shoot. Sadly, my camera didnt pick up these details... or the 10+ shots I took during the 10 or so shots he took were perfectly timed to miss them all. Below is pics from various stages of the filming. I apologize for some of them not being crisp & clear, lighting on this day was terrible for those of us having to stand back & shoot...even though it was daylight. Back in February I ran across the Fringe set 3 times in about 5 days. The 1st unit was this scene shot across the street from Victory Square (which Fringe has used before) for a scene that consisted of a shoot out between Fringe Division in the Alt-world & a sniper(s) on a rooftop.
The coolest part of this scene was when FauxLivia (Anna Torv) went running by Lincoln to grab a massive machine gun to use in defending themselves from themselves from the attack.
While I did manage lots of photos of her with the gun, many of them were so poor because of the lighting set ups. Even in mid-day, a lot of the shots I took were pretty grainy because of the angles their production had equipment at. below is some of the better ones I managed.

You have seen the pics of "the kiss"... but they obviously had to do several takes to work up to that.... here is 1 of them.
this was not the full scene, as the crew eventually asked us to stop taping it when they got closer to the full scene. This was merely 1 of the rehearsal takes as they worked on their timing to do do the scene in 1 effortless motion.
In this take Olivia walks across a street & Peter comes running at her from out of the shadows.... he then proceeds to pick her up & spin her around.... in later takes, they would also add in the kiss scene to this rehearsal before eventually doing the whole scene.
This scene was filmed on the coldest day of the year, with temperatures reaching -17C... and you thought being an actor was all fun & games.

I promised all of you more photos from the scenes back in December that I shot on the coldest day of the year of Peter Bishop (Josh Jackson) & Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) doing a kissing scene for episode 15 "A Shortr Story About Love".
Of course, for those of you up to date on the show this scene might seem more of a dream sequence now than a real time sequence that all of you hoped for when I posted the first batch of photos back then with the way the recent episode panned out.
Below is a few of the pics from that night... like I said, none were terribly "great" but you all get the idea.
I originally promised to hold off on posting these photos till the week of the episode, but was strongly considering posting them earlier after discussing the situation that unfolded around me holding them back with others. the point that was most often brought up and I agree with is... the people begging me not to post them because they "abhor spoilers" are hypocritical in saying that.... as they themselves SAW the spoiler...and then bragged about it on a public forum. Why should those people unable to be there on that night miss the chance to see what the fans saw that night before the episode airs?
That is in the past, what matters now is... figuring out what context these images are from... real life, or a fantasy?

The Favorite Character of 2011 as voted by you the fans was.. Dean Winchester "Supernatural" (played by Jensen Ackles).
The final award of the year makes Mr. Ackles a 3 award winner, and 5 total awards in 2 years winner. With best actor & favorite character awards last year under his belt going into 2011s voting, it wasnt a big shock he would win something again. Winning 3 awards however.. that shows a dominance. With the Best Sci-Fi Acot award & Sexiest Actor Award already wrapped up Jensen snagged 1 final honour by way of his on screen persona, the smart ass, world saving hunter Dean Winchester.
Deans win came at the cost of a character we no longer will see in this form. Runner up "Smallville" disguised super-hero Clark Kent makes it 2 years in a row a Smallville character was runner up. 3rd went to "Lost Girl" Dr. Lauren Lewis. Its 4th place for Deans brother Sam Winchester..same place he finished in 2010. 5th place for "Supernatural" angel turned god turned nothing Castiel, he finished 3rd last year. "Sanctuary" lead Dr. Helen Magnus is 6th, the character responsible for the Best drama actor win for Nathan Fillion is 7th "Castle" lead Richard Castle, 8th is "Fringe" phenomenon fighting FBI agent Olivia Dunham, 9th is the Best Drama actress Stana Katic inspired "Castle" detective Kate Beckett. Falling 3 spots from 7th to 10th this year is insanely genius "Fringe" doctor/scientist Walter Bishop, Another Dr. drops 3 spots from 8th to 11th this year, as "The Big Bang Theory" resident know it all Sheldon Cooper takes 11th. 12th is "Lost Girl" lead character Bo. 13th is last years 9th place finalist "How I Met Your Mother" character responsible for Neil Patrick Harris winning Best comedy Actor this year, Barney Stinson. Commom theme in this years awards. If you won the sci-fi acting award for your gender, you apparently are also the sexiest. The Smallville hottie Erica Durance matched her male award winning counterpart in the sci-fi category Jensen Ackles, by also taking home the sexiest category. Having had the honour of meeting Ms. Durance severla times, I can say I understand the voters decision. She really is as stunning in person as the tv screens & magazines make her appear.
Erica won this category with a bit of a lead over eventual runner up "Lost Girl" star Zoie Palmer. Mila Kunis, who lead for several days, eventually would fade back & finish 3rd. "Fringe" cutie Anna Torv was continually in the race, but would eventually finish 4th. "House" hottie Olivia Wilde was 5th, my personal pick finished 6th, "The Client List" star Jennifer Love Hewitt. Another "Lost Girl" on the list in 7th Anna Silk, 8th is "Once Upon A Time" sherriff Jennifer Morrison, 9th is "Community" cutie Alison Brie, and rounding out the finalists is "The Secret Circle" hottie Britt Robertson.
Like the mens category, there was 5 different leaders over the course of the polls, but only 21 lead changes. Erica, Zoie, Mila, & the 2 Jennifers all had leads, but it was Mila & Zoie that really only had the leads after about day 5 until Erica took over in the final 3-4 days of voting. Interesting observation I made with this result. Erica won sci-fi actress, and sexiest actress.. yet her character Lois Lane finished nowhere close to the top in the favorite character category.

The Best Actress in a Sci-fi of 2011 as voted by you the fans was.. Erica Durance - Smallville.
The final season of the long lasting CW hit Smallville saw its leading lady Erica Durance's character Lois Lane figure out the identity of Clark Kent, head to Egypt, become a superhero herself & have a wedding with the man of steel. The popularity of the Smallville cast in our awards over the last 2 years has always been considerable, in fact, if it were not for many Smallville challengers last year being removed from voting because of bot cheating that tainted no less than 3 different shows results, she could have possibly won Best Actress last year. With no such scandals this year (thanks to some wonderful knowledge from a friend on how to minimize such things), Erica Durance was able to compete in the finals & went on to win.
Ms Durance won this award handily, as last years Best Actress winner Anna Torv from "Fringe" finished a distant 2nd. A strong showing by Sanctuary fans pushed their leading lady Amanda Tapping up to 3rd. Close behind her was 4th place "Lost Girl" actress Anna Silk. There was a considerable gap to 5th place "Lost Girl" Ksenia Solo, 6th place Jasika Nicole "Fringe was next, ahead of 7th & 8th "The Secret Circle" ladies Britt Robertson & Natasha Henstridge
Early on Amanda Tapping & Anna Silk looked poised to fight it out for 1st. But around 1/2 way thru, the Smallville fans finally took notice & started to rally their challengers. Erica recorded 350+ votes in 72 hrs at 1 point, 1 of (if not THE) the largest vote pushes of the entire awards. The nominations process for these awards were early on in the contest, and this might explain the interesting void of a notable challenger in many of this years categories, "Lost Girl" star Zoie Palmer was not even nominated. Oversight on whoever originally nominated her castmates?? Side note, the gap of 442 votes between 4th & 5th was the largest single gap in votes in the whole awards.
