On February 14, 2012 I shot a set for Fringe. It was episode 18. At the time, I was sure I would see several more Fringe sets to shoot...and while I did come across 3 more sets after this, I never had an opportunity (or desire) to shoot them. I naively believed I had more chances coming...those chances never arose. So this set of photos, could possibly be the LAST SET of photos I might have from Fringe EVER. Now personally, I want the show to come back obviously. It is my favorite Vancouver shot series. Ontop of that, the crew during their 3 years here, has been mostly all class with lookie-loos, fans & professionals alike viewing their work. Do I expect it to be back? YES. This isnt a "Yes, because I want it to" this is a "yes, because FOX & WB will reach an understanding that makes it possible" feeling. It will only be a 13 episode season. I am not naive enough to think they are rolling out a full season order. I also expect FOX to be VERY up front with the shows creators, crew, cast & fans that this will be it, there will be no season 6. But they will give them a 1/2 season to give the show a real send off, a real definitive ending that will resolve as many questions as they can. FOX is getting a lot of flack from fans that they are "screwing over" Fringe repeatedly. I can see the reasoning for this logic, but in reality, I think the people in charge at FOX have actually tried to keep it alive as long as it can. Truth is Fringe is a thinking mans shows. Its a show you have to pay attention to & has many moving parts. Unfortunately, society doesnt want that from television usually. It is more happy with brainless reality shows. Lets face it, even those of you who watch shows like American Idol or Dancing With the stars will admit, its braindead tv. There is nothing to it, its fluff entertainment. Sadly, this is what sells. I think its been to FOX's credit they have given Fringe 4 (probably 5) seasons despite lowering ratings. Someone at FOX obviously understands the quality vs quantity dilemma & is willing to back it, despite it being an obvious cash strain. Getting back on track here... this is the last set of "new" photos I might have if worse case scenario happens & FOX pulls the plug. I posted a few other photos from this set in this blog post http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/1/post/2012/04/fringe-shooting-a-few-scenes-with-walter-peter-olivia-astringenterr-i-mean-astrid.html of multiple cast photos. This blog is for individual shots..... so enjoy. Another Fringe set featuring in order.... Jasika Nicole - "Astrid Farnsworth" Anna Torv - "Olivia Dunham" John Noble - "Walter Bishop" Joshua Jackson "Peter Bishop" and a couple bonus shots of the Waltermobile. IF YOU POST THESE PHOTOS ELSEWHERE, DO NOT REMOVE THE TAGS OR I WILL HAVE THEM REMOVED! ALSO, DO NOT POST WITHOUT LINKING TO THIS BLOG. If you want the photos for your site untagged, I do sell those rights, just as I do with autographs. Prices are listed in the tab on the left.
The last Fringe set I stumbled across in season 4 (and dare I say... if FOX does the unspeakable..the last set I'll ever see) was back in February & judging by the time compared to the last shoot I saw (only a few days prior) this should be for episode 418, which airs TONIGHT!
This was a major moment for myself. I had photographed Olivia, Lincoln, Peter, Walter, Broyles, Nina & even a couple of their alt-world versions... but I had never photographed Astro... sorry, I mean Asterisk, till this day.
For the 1st time in my experiences, Jasika Nicole was on set shooting. I had met Jasika a couple times in the past, once on set where she was in fact not working but just passing by, and a couple times at the airport. But this was the 1st time i had seen her working on Fringe.
Also kind of fitting (if this IS my last Fringe set) that they had the whole main gang together for it. Walter, Peter, Olivia & Asirin, all together for once.
There wasnt a lot to the scene I can really tell you other than Olivia & Peter come walking from 1 direction, while Walter & Asteroid come from his car & meet them in the middle. They then converse a bit, and head inside a building.
Below are some of the photos I took that day where 2 or more cast were in 1 shot.. A few Peter & Olivia shots. Walter & Ostrich shots. Peter, Walter & Ashram shots. As well as the whole group in 1 frame, Peter, Walter, Olivia & Claire.
I will post more photos from this days shoot later. Those will be solo shots of Olivia, Walter, Peter & ASTRID.
The day after the dramatic scene where Alt-Lincoln is killed (and I didnt even know it at the time) in episode 417 of Fringe that I posted about earlier this week ( http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/1/post/2012/04/fringe-filming-episode-417-everything-in-its-place-pics-of-fauxlivia-lincoln-guest-cast.html ), I found the Fringe shoot again. This time a 2 minute walk from my house. They were filming scenes that were shown earlier in the episode, before Alt-Lincoln was fatally shot by a sniper. The scenes involved Fauxlivia & both Lincolns outside a church (played by St. James Anglican Church) as they were going inside to investigate the Fringe event. It was a short scene, but it was important for moving along the storyline, as it showed our world Lincolns growing fascination & interest for Fauxlivia. Another thing. Many times I take pics that dont get posted. A LOT of those is the background design & art work done stuff. So today, here is a little shout out to the art team & set designers who do a terrific job on the show. I start off with a couple photos from their handiwork of the fake walls, quarantine poster & the quarantine barriers (which actually weigh very little & arent made out of cement... but look like real barriers even up close).
THIS BLOG CONTAINS MILD SPOILER PICS FOR EPISODE 417 WHICH AIRS THIS FRIDAY...IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO SEE OR READ ABOUT ANY POTENTIAL MILD SPOILERS... DO NOT CONTINUE. . . . LAST WARNING. . .
So here are some more pics from the filming I saw for Ep 417. For those who already saw the other set of Fauxlivia shots with her big machine gun ( http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/1/post/2012/04/fringe-filming-episode-417-everything-in-its-right-place-fauxlivia-with-a-big-gun.html ) here is a few other photos from the scene they shot. The scene seems to start with both Lincolns & Fauxlivia getting a prisoner into a Fringe Dept transportation vehicle in the Alt-universe. Before they have a chance to do this however, some gunfire takes place, Alt-Lincoln protects the "prisoner" while Olivia & our world Lincoln engage in firing back at the mystery person(s). Fauxlivia ges running to grab a big machine gun while Lincoln covers her. I really wish my camera picked up the smaller details, because I took pics of Lincoln firing off several shots in a row & although they were blanks, there was still smoke/something that comes off the gun as they shoot. Sadly, my camera didnt pick up these details... or the 10+ shots I took during the 10 or so shots he took were perfectly timed to miss them all. Below is pics from various stages of the filming. Not neccesarily int he order the scene was shot.... as well, a few candid photos of Seth & Anna on breaks. I apologize for some of them not being crisp & clear, lighting on this day was terrible for those of us having to stand back & shoot...even though it was daylight. This episode of Fringe airs Friday April, 6, 2012 at 9 PM on FOX. REMINDER - Do not post photos on your site/blog/tumblr page etc without properly linking the article and DO NOT remove the tags. Seemed to be a little rash of fringe fans/sites doing this recently. If you want them untagged, they are for sale... as are autographs in the gallery on the left side.
SPOILERS FOR UPCOMING FRINGE EPISODE IN THIS BLOG!!! DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU DONT WANT TO READ OR SEE PHOTOS OF SPOILERS!!!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.... . . . . . . I promised all of you more photos from the scenes back in December that I shot on the coldest day of the year of Peter Bishop (Josh Jackson) & Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) doing a kissing scene for episode 15 "A Shortr Story About Love".
Of course, for those of you up to date on the show this scene might seem more of a dream sequence now than a real time sequence that all of you hoped for when I posted the first batch of photos back then with the way the recent episode panned out.
Below is a few of the pics from that night... like I said, none were terribly "great" but you all get the idea.
I originally promised to hold off on posting these photos till the week of the episode, but was strongly considering posting them earlier after discussing the situation that unfolded around me holding them back with others. the point that was most often brought up and I agree with is... the people begging me not to post them because they "abhor spoilers" are hypocritical in saying that.... as they themselves SAW the spoiler...and then bragged about it on a public forum. Why should those people unable to be there on that night miss the chance to see what the fans saw that night before the episode airs?
That is in the past, what matters now is... figuring out what context these images are from... real life, or a fantasy?
Coming soon..... a video of 1 of their practice takes.
PHOTOS CONTAIN VERY MINOR SPOILERS. Nothing season spoiling, and likely, even episode spoiling. But simple spoilers of who did scenes with each other recently. If you want to know absolutely NOTHING about upcoming episodes...do not read on or look at the photos.
This past week I managed to stumble onto 2 different Fringe shoots. The first day they were in the West End at an apartment where lots of police tape was in use for the scenes being shot. I saw a lot of cast on set, but only had a chance to get photos from Seth Gabel because of timing. Also on set that day were Anna Torv, Jasika Nicole & Lance Reddick. I also saw John Noble at the set, but he was not dressed in character. He was at the set with his real life son, I assumed at the time he might have been just showing up for work, but never saw him after that...so perhaps he had just wrapped..or was passing by & said hi (I've seen it before with this cast) The next shoot was 2 days later in the Yaletown area of town at another apartment. This time there was scenes shot in plain sight in the alleyway. The scenes involved Anna, Seth & Lance at another situation that had crime tape, Boston PD cars, the swat team, and an Observer. They also shot some scenes inside the lobby prior to that, but I dont have much insight on what that entained. In any case, I took photos of course. As always, like with the other sets I have shot this year (links below) and in previous seasons...feel free to post them on your site WITH THE TAGS...or you can get them without the tags for purchase. Probably the most fascinating photo of the bunch for me is where Lance is signing...and behind him...an Observer. They are everywhere. Other Fringe sets from this season... Torv & Noble - http://bit.ly/r5RR2N & http://bit.ly/pDqAzP Torv & Noble videos (mild spoilers) http://bit.ly/qCEvAAJoshua Jackson returns to set for season 4 - http://bit.ly/q2j7E0 Cast going to & returning from comic-con http://bit.ly/qp8ISX
Last week the Fox TV show "Fringe" was filming for a few nights in the downtowna rea finally. On my last night of checking out the set, I caught a scene of the lead actors Anna Torv (Olivia Dunham) & John Noble (Dr. Walter Bishop) doing a scene where they run out of a malt shop thru a broken window.
To see video of that scene, check out my last Fringe blog.
Here are some still photos from that night. The shots are grainy and somewhat out of focus because of how dark it was, and to top it off, an unusually bright orange light was being used for the scene as well. This gave all the people the appearance of being pumpkins.
I tried with some of the pics to take the colour down some...with mixed results.
Anyways, heres some of the photos from that night. A couple interesting ones as you see Anna & her double, and John and his double interacting.
SPOILER BELOW...DO NOT CONTINUE IF YOU WANT TO AVOID SPOILERS!!!
All summer there has been 1 question constantly asked by Fringe fans and even their marketing personnel. "Where is Peter Bishop?". It has had 4 incredibly popular & much talked about commercials (including the most recent that just came out yesterday). Its spawned hashtags on twitter #whereispeter and #whereispeterbishop and all in all, it has been the central topic of discussion amongst casual and avid Fringe fans.
Yesterday I went to the set of Fringe for the 2nd day in a row. I wasnt going there with any type of big plans. Just see a bit more filming, maybe take a few more pics to fill out the blog that I posted before this 1 and perhaps get John Noble to sign.
My entire purpose for being there changed however later in the evening when a Ford Flex pulled up at the set and dropped off a cast member that no one, including the crew had seen yet this season... JOSHUA JACKSON!
The man who plays the much talked about Peter Bishop character had not filmed a second of Season 4 prior to his arrival. The crew greeted him as if he was their long lost best friend they hadnt seen in 6 years. Hugs & handshakes everywhere. Josh then acknowledged the fans who had encroached in to the side of the street they were all on and said to us that he would come over to see us in "1/2 an hour". He then proceeded to go into the building they were filming in & start singing "Happy Birthday to you" to someone.
At the time, I wondered if he was here just to say Happy Birthday to someone since all we had been told by crew & websites was that Josh's character, Peter Bishop, who you fans recall was "killed off" at the end of season 3 in a storyline that rocked the Fringe fans, was not expected back till late September to film.
About 15 minutes later Josh came out & walked over to the crowd of 10-15 fans across the street. Most who were from around the globe including the U.K, Australia, Austria, Switzerland and elsewhere. He gave out photos with, signed autographs, and assured those of us there that he was in fact, filming scenes today. I asked him "so when do you get back to work on this show?" he replied "right now". I asked him if he wanted to give us any spoilers, which was greeted with a smart ass "you're joking, right?' look.
Josh spent 10-15 minutes with the fans. He recalled in fairly vivid detail meeting 1 fan who was meeting him for her 2nd time. She said to him "you dont remember me" and then Josh recalled their last encounter to a near word for word tee...even though it had been a year or 2 prior. She was impressed, and Josh had this look of "how good is that eh?" as the group marveled at his memory. Eventually the crew told him he had to go...afterall, he DID have work he was there for. He then joked "1st day back to work and I'm already late". Then he went off to film his 1st scenes of season 4.
A little later we noticed Josh & John Noble walking around from a corner, they stopped to chat to a couple women, and the pair of actors took the time to play around with the 1 ladies dog. John kept making reference to how he was going to have to get his make up re-done because the dog kept licking him, while Joshua listened to the woman closely while she pitched a charity event that was coming up the next month which is taking place here in Vancouver with a list of TV stars already confirmed to shopw up for it.
The interest thing we noticed about Josh, was the tags he was wearing all over his shirt. I counted at least 5 of them, perhaps there was more. The suggestion amongst the group is they are motion sensor tags, like what you see when sports video games try to capture players real life movements. This lead to speculation on what Josh's scene really could be. Was he actually there, or just a vision? Guess we all will have to wait to find out.
Earlier in the day Anna Torv was also seen on set. But I never saw her while I was there. It was suggested she was inside filming, but we never saw confirmation of it as we never saw her come in or leave in the time I was there.
Fringe season 4 is currently shooting episode 4. The season starts Friday September 23rd on FOX.
IF YOU POST THESE PHOTOS ELSEWHERE - DONT UNTAG THEM. THEY WILL BE PULLED OFF BY WHATEVER SITE HOSTS YOUR SITE, BLOG, PAGE. Photos can be PURCHASED unedited for blog/site/personal use.
Monday evening the crew and some cast of the FOX hit show "Fringe" filmed on Jervis St in Vancouver at an apartment building that was used in the past as the home of Fauxlivia from "the other side".
The scenes I saw were primarily John Noble (Walter) and Anna Torv (Olivia) getting out of a truck, walking up to the building, where they stop, have a chat before Olivia places Walter on a bench, then proceeds to go up the stairs, before Walter asks her for something (I believe it to be a cell phone) which she stops to hand him, them goes into the building.
At the end of their evening of filming, Anna stopped to sign autographs and take photos with fans, as well as some fans of Supernatural who were so impressed with him friendly and respectful the crew and cast were that they promised to give the show a chance.
I will have another blog in the next day or so from the Tuesday set of Fringe shooting at the same location...with a LARGER spoiler. A Mighty Ducking big spoiler. So Pacey yourself for that. Wouldnt want you all Petered out by the time I post that.
Below is some of the pics from Mondays shoot. Apologies if some are a bit fuzzy/grainy. My camera was being quite unco-operative with me yesterday.
