The Best Animated Program of 2011 as voted by you is also the longest running Animated program that was nominated. The Simpsons!

The lovable nuclear family from Springfield, Somewhere, USA topped the polls convincingly with nearly 500 votes. Now in its amazing 23rd season, the cartoon that developed from a skit on the Tracey Ullman show has been the flagship program of FOX for many years. Homer, Bart, Maggie, Marge, Lisa & the gang never really seemed in doubt to win from day 1 of the finals thru till the end. They opened up a large lead fast, and never looked back.

Family Guy narrowly held on to 2nd place, after having a comfortable lead on the spot early on, as 3rd place Family Guy closed the gap near the end only losing by 22 votes. South Park finished 4th, and Phineas And Ferb (a write in challenger in the 1st round) rounded out the finalists, and came close to pulling itself out of the basement in the final couple days.

Since January 24, 2011 my site has hosted a league and playoff tournament to find out my readers favorite Male & Female TV characters.

After almost 6 months, over 29000 playoff votes counted, over 28000 regular season votes counted, plus thosands more that were discarded for various reasons....we have some champions.

144 characters, 80 male, 64 female characters started out with hopes & dreams back then. Early on, it became clear there was 8 or 10 characters whose fans had become quite determined to push their favorites to the top. I guess its no surprise, considering my site talks primarily about Vancouver based shows, most of those characters were from Vancouver shows.

Smallville had 4 characters in Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Oliver Queen & Chloe Sullivan who early on emerged as serious contenders. A twitter campaign by Olivers 1st round opponent thwarted his chance to go far. Clark Kent had an indominable regular season, but once the playoff format of no multiple voting was in place, his support tailed some. Still Clark pushed thru to the mens finals, before finally falling. Chloe managed to hold on till the elite 8 of the womens tourney before she finally gave way to her castmate, Lois Lane....the eventual winner of the womens division & the only undefeated contestant in either side of the tournament.

Supernatural super hunter Dean Winchester looked unstopable early, while the shows other characters like Sam Winchester, Bobby Singer, Castiel & Crowley all started slow, but gained momentum as things rolled along in the regular season. In the playoffs Castiel went out early, losing to eventual finalist Clark Kent in round 2. Crowley would meet the same fate in round 3, losing to Clark Kent. Bobby Singer came within 1 game of knocking off his buddy Dean Winchester in round 3, but eventually gave way to the man who would eventually go on to win the Mens title, Dean.

Fringe lead female character Agent Olivia Dunham looked poised to also take a run at the title in the regular season, as was agent Astrid Farnsworth who won her division in the regular season. Astrid could not continue the success in the playoffs, bowing out in the sweet 16 round of the womens division. The shows male counterparts Peter & Walter Bishop both had strong regular seasons, playoff success didnt follow them as much, with each bowing out before their own division finals. Agent Olivia Dunham pushed thru to the womens final, before eventually being swept by womens champion Lois Lame.

Sanctuary lead character Dr. Helen Magnus had a slow start & only barely got into the playoffs with a losing record none the less...but once there, she proved to be a formidable opponent as her fanbase caught on to the game & pushed her to the final 4 of the womens tournament before losing to eventual champ Lois Lane.

Stargate Universe had many challengers in the playoffs. But playoff success was limited for the SGU crew. With all the contestants, including 3 regular season division champs in Eli Wallace, Dr. Dale Volker & Vanessa James, from the now cancelled show bowing out by the sweet 16 draw of each side.

There was some success for shows not from the 604.

The Big Bang Theory had 3 male playoff contestants, with Dr. Sheldon Cooper, Raj Koothrappali & Howard Wolowitz all making it. None however found a terribly successful playoff formula. However, lead female Penny made it to the final 4 on the womens side & even had a 2-0 series lead before falling to Agent Olivia Dunham.

How I Met Your Mother had 3 division champs in the regular season. Robin Scherbatsky, & Lily Aldrin on the womens side. Both however fell in the womens sweet 16 round. On the mens side, Legen..wait for it...DARY ladies man Barney Stinson made it to the mens final 4 before falling to Clark Kent.

The Simpsons mastermind Homer Simpson made the mens final 4 finals before bowing out to eventual champion Dean Winchester.

Several other challengers like Richard Castle from Castle, Dr. Gregory House of House, Daphne Powell from No Ordinary Family, Penelope Garcia of Criminal Minds, Seeley Booth from Bones & Turanga Leela from Futurama also flirted with some playoff success before leaving in the elite 8 rounds of their respective genders.

In the end. Dean Winchester from Supernatural won the mens tournament over Clark Kent of Smallville, while Clarks main squeeze, Lois Lane defeated Agent Olivia Dunham from Fringe for the womens title.

So congratulations to your 2011 favorite TV character winners
Mens- DEAN WINCHESTER (Jensen Ackles) "Supernatural"
Womens
LOIS LANE (Erica Durance) Smallville

Day 7 was a short one for me. It was also a great one for me, despite moderate numbers.

I didnt start till late afternoon, as I got into Toronto around 4 PM & instantly went over to Roy Thompson Hall to get set for the premire for Peep World. It was the biggest event on the entire schedule for me, as it had my top priority of film fest, Michael C. Hall.

Michael was the first person to show up. I eagerly hurried into the swarm to get him, just to assure I was going to get at least 1 from my main target. I soon had 1 & had a 2nd shortly after. A bit of a lull after that before I got my 3rd, which included a near fight with old people of all things. Some older woman was getting mad at another hound for being in front of her & she actually punched him in the back. Me reaching around her seemed to be her last sstraw & she elbowed me multiple times to move back. Now I have been in countless scrums & 1 of the reasons I dont seem to get as much as some is because I usually am a little too respectful of people...so when someone is giving ME grief, they are actually being unreasonable I would say. Its a scrum envirinment, dont go into it if you arent expecting to be in a condensed space & perhaps jostled a little. This lady seemed to be under some impression she was entitled to a couple square metres of space. The elbowing continued, my persistence then elevated to compensate for her aggressiveness brought in her husband who made the foolish mistake of grabbing my by my jacket. I gave him 1 good hard shove off, he pushed back & I walked away as frankly, I was far more focused on autographs than hospitalizing an old person because his wife is a fucking dumbass.

As I went to go reposition myself a few metres down security came over to me (of course, the younger, larger, professional hound MUST be at fault here) and wanted me to walk over & have a few words with him. I declined his invite & continued into the crowd. I told him, if he wants to talk, go ahead. I was very willing to debate everything that just happened, but I wasnt going to lose out because of it. Instead, he just gave up. After the scrum ended, where I eventually got 4 more Halls, and a few words out of him about the upcoming season of Dexter that he is filming. I went over to the same guard, I apologized to him for having to deal with it, explained my side & went on my way. I still dont think he bought my side of it..although he word for word stated exactly what I said as well (with the exception of the continual elbowing), except making it sound like I somehow insitgated it.

With 6 Hall autographs in my possession it was pretty tough for my day to be bad.

Shortly after his co-star, the cutie comedienne Sarah Silverman showed up & I was able to quickly get thru the 3 items I had for her, and even helped out another hound get 1 of his giving me a total of 4 autographs on the evening from her.

From there I headed over to a premiere across town for Ryan Gosling. Once there I heard news of an after party for Michael C. Hall's film, and I soon decided to abandon the Gosling premiere, as I really wanted a photo with Dexter Morgan.

Arriving at the party early I sat around behimd where the roped off area was, till just before the first star showed up. Judy Greer, who also is in Peep World showed up first. She was pleasant & friendly, and even posed for a photo out on the street before getting to the red carpet set up at the party. Across the street we noticed another party going on, it was for a movie that had Jennifer Connolly, Ed Harris, Amy Madigan & Yeardley Smith. Smith showed up & we hurried across the street, others got autographs, but I squeezed in to get a photo with. Besides being Lisa Simpson, I am a fan of hers, because she was a character on my favorite show Dead Like Me for an episode or two.
Immediately back across the street we went & a few minutes later Michael C. Hall showed up. He was patient & friendly, signing for everyone & doing photos with anyone who asked, including myself.

I instantly headed back to RTH for the night premiere of a movie with Malin Akerman & Ryan Phillippe. Once I got there I found out both stars were already done signing & neither signed much. I SHOULD have just called it a night, or headed back to the Connolly party, but I foolishly waited around for Akerman leaving & was shut out.

My night ended poorly, but the evening went so well I called the day a success. Afterall I got 6 autographs from my top priority of film fest, and a photo with.
