The Best Sci-Fi Program of 2011 as voted by you the fans was.. Supernatural.

Back to back wins for Best Sci-fi show go to the world saving brothers from "Supernatural". Last year the Winchester brothers win in this category might have seemed a small surprise, but after 2 People's Choice Awards this past year, winning here seemed a give in. No doubt a lot of you that voted on these awards already come here for various SPN news/candid photos so, the win is sort of a "home field advantage" type of win for them, as a large chunk of the viewers on this site come for my occasional info on the show & its cast. Unlike the PCA's I dont allow shows or actors to compete in multiple categories, thus why SPN is up for the sci-fi award, and not the drama award, like it was in the PCA's, where it won both.

"Supernatural" won fairly easily in the end with a 200+ vote lead over runner up "Smallville" (for the 2nd year in a tow). 3rd place came out of nowhere this year to make noise at these awards "Lost Girl" edged out last years 3rd place show "Fringe" who fell to 4th this year. "Sanctuary" picked up 5th place, beating out the final finalist 6th place "The Walking Dead", the 2010 Best New Show winner.

All of the shows, but The Walking Dead were at 1 point leaders, although Fringe & Sanctuary never had the lead for long & only led in the early days of voting. Smallville & Supernatural eventually distanced themselves from Lost Girl down the stretch & battled down to the wire. SPN eventually was able to widen the small gap they had on Smallville in the final day or so of voting.

With 1410 votes "Supernatural" also lays claim to the finalist with the most votes in its category

Final vote results
Supernatural 1410
Smallville 1183
Lost Girl 920
Fringe 772
Sanctuary 640
The Walking Dead 447

THE WALKING DEAD

From out of nowhere, AMC's The Walking Dead won critical acclaim this year. The zombie apocalypse themed horror, based on graphic novels did the same in our polls, quietly moving up the ranks & eventually taking a stranglehold on victory.

Despite a back & forth fight with The CW's new cheerleader drama "Hellcats", The Walking Dead eventually won this fairly handily with a big surge in the final 2 days of voting to take it by a commanding 131 votes 405 to 284.

CBS crime drama "Hawaii Five-O", despite a slow start, finished 3rd with 234 votes.

The CW drama "Nikita" finished 4th with 189 votes. While ABC's superhero family "No Ordinary Family" finished 5th with 169 votes.

FINAL TOTALS
1ST - THE WALKING DEAD 405
2ND - HELLCATS 284
3RD - HAWAII FIVE-O 234
4TH - NIKITA 189
5TH - NO ORDINARY FAMILY 169

There is only 1 day left for voting on the Best Of TV 2010 awards on my site.
With the People's Choice Awards done, this is the chance for some shows, who got shafted at the largest public voted awards to get a 2nd chance.

If you have not already voted...You can vote here...

Despite lots of attempts to cheat/sabotage people, voting has continued. With each attempt to cheat or sabotage someone has come a new security issue I have had to deal with & create a way to sidestep the cheating. While I concede SOME cheater votes may have gotten mixed into the totals, MOST (i'll even say well over 95%) were thwarted.

Unfortunately for the likes of House, Smallville & Private Practice, some of their contenders were disqualified for either blatant cheating, or being sabotaged before proper defenses were put in place. It should be noted that while House, Smallville & Private Practice candidates were caught using automated voting bots, MANY legitimate votes from these shows were also cast. unfortunately, it just took 1 jerk to ruin your chances. I apologize to those who took the effort to rally support for their shows, only to have it go for nothing. Trust me when I say, future polls will have far more advanced steps in place to prevent this from happening again.

With that aside....with 1 day left of voting....here are the current results.
