Arrow shoots scenes for Episode 414 "Code Of Silence" with Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy, Emily Bett Rickards, Paul Blackthorne & guest stars
THIS POST MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 414 OF ARROW. If you do not want to see or read any potential spoilers prior to seeing the episode please leave now.
Arrow will be airing episode 414 "Code Of Silence" tomorrow.
The episode was directed by the shows stunt co-ordinator James Bamford, for his 2nd go at director this season.
Shortly after the show returned from their Winter break I caught them downtown Vancouver shooting scenes for this episode at the historic Vogue Theatre.
While the majority of the shooting was indoors throughout the day, there were a couple scenes shot out on the busy Granville Street on a cold January night.
Several fans waited in the dingy & dirty alley behind the theatre to see the cast. The only cast member who was willing to meet them that night was Stephen Amell. He took the time to meet with each person there and do photos with & sign autographs before heading back in to film more. While others were seen leaving & arriving, none of them stopped to meet the small crowd of fans.
The first scene shot had the big spoiler that I posted a few weeks ago... which of course everyone knows about now since its aired on TV. Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak in a wheelchair. She filmed scenes with Paul Blackthorne as Quentin Lance and Charlotte Ross as Donna Smoak in front of the Vogue, which was apparently the theatre for a "Star City Mayoral Debate" between newcomer Ruve Adams (aka - Ms. Damian Darhk) and Oliver Queen (aka - The Green Arrow)
After that scene wrapped, the crew took a while to set up for their next shoot, which took place on the awning of the Vogue.
Katie Cassidy and her stunt double dressed up as the Black Canary spent time up on the roof shooting scenes where they watch Janet Kidder as Ruve Adams leave in a towncar, and then after that watched as a supply truck drives off. It appears when shes watching them leave that shes speaking to someone (probably on 1 of the com devices Team Arrow uses often).
Arrow airs Wednesday nights on The CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada.

Arrow shoots the final scene for episode 318 with Colton Haynes and Paul Blackthorne in downtown Vancouver
Better late than never? Right? well, this year I have often fallen behind on getting blog posts up in time. Another example... this post.
Arrow shot scenes for episode 318 awhile ago in downtown Vancouver and did so with the blatant knowledge they were giving up a huge spoiler to those who witnessed it.
One of the things I LOVE about Arrow so far is their complete disregard for the public seeing their potential spoilers. While other productions in town treat insignificant filler scenes like they are filming the climactic scene in an Oscar Award winning movie and react to those scenes being posted publicly by onlookers by curling up into the fetal position in a corner and wetting themselves while crying, the writers and producers of Arrow seem to accept and, at times, revel in the fact the public comes to see their big scenes.
On this particular spoiler riddled scene, which aired in last weeks episode 318 "Public Enemy", Paul Blackthorne as Captain Quentin Lance was shooting a scene with Colton Haynes, but instead of being dressed as Roy Harper or Arsenal, he was dressed as.... The Arrow.
Of course, knowing now what the scene was for, it makes sense. But at the time, seeing this scene shot, everyone was pretty much standing around going "what the fuck is going on?".
i'll admit, not having of course seen the episodes that would lead up to this scene yet play out (it was filmed BEFORE the arc of Captain Lance hating Team Arrow again) I thought this was some type of "trick" scene that the captain was in on.... but nope, it certainly was not.
Arrow is off this week, but returns next Wednesday with a new episode on The CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada

Season 3 of ARROW has started filming - Pics of Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy and Paul Blackthorne shooting scenes for ep 301
Arrow season 3 is under way in Vancouver, BC, Canada FINALLY!
The 1st public shoot (that anyone seems to have known of) was on Friday right in downtown Vancouver as the production took over Terry Fox Plaza at B.C. Place to film scenes that involved Oliver Queen walking along with Laurel Lance
The pair did a scene where they are walking from the stadium in the blazing heat we had here, eventually they stop and talk to a 3rd character, alive and seemingly well... Quentin Lance.
A bit later they did scenes where Laurel talks to Quentin in front of the media.
In these scenes, you see Quentin dressed up in a little different Police attire.... as he is now Captain Lance.
After those scenes, Paul Blackthorne wrapped his work on those scenes. Short time later Katie Cassidy also wrapped.
This left Stephen Amell there to film scenes that involved another cast member...which I will get to in my next blog post.
I managed to get autographs from all 3 of them at different times. This included a good 15-20 minute chat that Stephen had with those of us that were there. Glad to see he is still cool.
Arrow returns this fall on The CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada. for their 3rd season starting October 8, 2014.

Some leftover photos of the Arrow cast from season 1 and 2. Stephen Amell, Emily Bett Rickards, Caity Lotz, Paul Blackthorne, John Barrowman, Manu Bennett and even Seth Gabel.
Over the 1st two seasons of "Arrow" (on the CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada) I have managed to catch up to the cast quite a few times, in quite a few scenarios. On set, airports, hotels, even a couple cast get togethers. As a whole, the cast has been pretty great with the regulars in town.
I have also gained quite a few photos from those encounters from times that I just, for whatever reasons, never blogged about. They somehow fell thru the cracks of larger posts at the time, or simply I didn't feel there was enough to do a post on at the time.... so here they are. My unseen pics of the past 2 years.
Firstly, the star of the show. Stephen Amell.
This past season I ran into him quite a few times, seemed for awhile he was at every location I ever went to. So these off set interactions with him might have fallen by the wayside easily enough from late this past season.
Each time, he stopped for me and the others there, and happily signed for us. Hes been a class act here, glad they cast someone who was not just physically capable of the role, but also a good guy with the public off set.
Also, if you don't already... you really should follow his Facebook Page, he is easily 1 of the more engaging & entertaining celeb son FB, and his memes he re-posts from the public are usually pretty good. Hes honestly 1 of the very few things I even go on facebook to see anymore.
Below are pics from an encounter during "Family Day" (a fake holiday B.C. invented for an extra weekend off) & 1 pic from running into him at the end of the season... as well as the WORST photo with ever (my fault...didn't gtell the guard something my camera was going to do) that I got on the set the night they filmed the tunnel scene for the finale. I am definitely gonna have to get that re-done in season 3.

In season 1, I found the Arrow set just a couple blocks from my house. UNFORTUNATELY, it was 1 of the hardest rains I can ever remember me enduring at a set and was all in doors. But I was determined since I really wanted to see the man who would play Count Vertigo, again, Seth Gabel.
I had met Seth many times on the set of another show he did here "Fringe" (a couple of these pics are from then btw... I just had never used them so thought, may as well now).
I caught up with Seth, and he had 2 out of country fans there to meet him too. He stopped even in the torrential downpour to talk to them, and signed for me & my buddy. I joked with him how less than a block away was 1 of the last places I saw him when he filmed Fringe. He told me he remembered it and when he was coming into work that day he passed it & instantly remembered what he shot there.
An added bonus that day was my 1st ever time seeing Detective Quentin Lance in person, Paul Blackthorne nearly snuck by me because I was looking the other way...but I caught him just long enough to snap off 1 pic. he then signed a couple autographs for my buddy across the street. Since then, I have seen Paul many times. Always been a great guy. Nowhere near as abrasive as Quentin is.

When Arrow originally cast the pilot of the show, they probably had not even thought of who would play Felicity Smoak. Little did they know a year later she would be the most popular female character on the show & essentially the lead female on the show.
Emily Bett Rickards got cast in the role that is now a staple of every episode. I've caught up with her many times, and shes always been really friendly with us.
Here is 1 such encounter from last May 2013 that I never managed to find time to post.

In season 2, the writers of Arrow decided to bring back the Sara Lance character.
However, they wanted someone with a background that was capable of doing physically challenging scenes. So they re-cast her.
In came relative unknown Caity Lotz. The woman who would eventually become "The Canary" (writers clearly wanting to keep the BLACK Canary title for the person they said was going to be it) became a mainstay throughout the season. I managed to catch up to her a few times early on, including this encounter as she was leaving town for Christmas break.

In the final week of filming, I managed to catch up to 2 Arrow baddies.
1st up was the man who plays the seemingly unkillable Malcolm Merlyn. John Barrowman arrived in Vancouver to shoot his finale scenes, and I managed to get him at the airport. In true John Barrowman fashion, he gave me a couple wild poses as he came out the door to go to his vehicle. Hes always looking to leave a lasting impression on the fans.
The next day, I caught up to Deathstroke. Manu Bennett did a TV interview to promote an event he was going to be at.
I managed to catch up to Slade Wilson on his way out of the interview, and he happily signed for me, as well, told me quite candidly that it might be quite awhile, if ever, before we see Slade/Deathstroke again as nothing was guaranteed for his return in season 3. I told him the writers always find a way to bring people back, he seemed less certain.
Fingers crossed the Arrow writers find a reason to have him back sooner, rather than later.

IF I don't get too sidetracked (which happens often unfortunately) I might write my review & opinions on season 2 of Arrow in my new TV episodes, seasons & series review blog I made (so far only has 1 whole entry...kinda slacked off on that). So you can possibly see that soon.
Arrow will start filming season 3 in Vancouver in July.

THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS MILD SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 22 OF SEASON 2 OF ARROW TITLED "STREETS OF FIRE".
If you do not want to see or read anything about the episode prior to seeing it, please do not read the article or view the photos.
Been awhile since I had caught up with any of Arrow's guest stars. Seen a few sets with the regulars, but not till I caught up to Jessica de Gouw a couple months ago, I had not seen any of the guest stars in awhile.
Since then however, its been a constant flow of the guest stars I have caught up to. First was Bex Taylor-Klaus, for the episode "Seeing Red", and now Kevin Alejandro & John Barrowman.
The pair were in town shooting scenes for the Arrow season 2 penultimate episode titled "Streets Of Fire".
First I caught up to Brother Sebatsian Blood in Burnaby at their non-studio studio in South Burnaby. I also saw Paul Blackthorne that day, as well as some stunt doubles. But the only cast member I had a chance to interact with was Alejandro. He wasnt there long, telling me he was only there to film 1 day. So his role in episode 22 is probably limited to a couple scenes. In these scenes he was dressed as Sebastian Blood, and not Brother Blood. Though that doesnt mean he could not have shot some scenes as his masked version. This would be the 1st time I would catch up to Kevin since October on the set of "Three Ghosts".
A few days later, I found Arrow signs downtown & did the bread trail follow till I found their site inside the Vancouver Greyhound & train station. There I found John Barrowman dressed up as his Malcolm Merlyn alter ego Dark Archer. Barrowman was his typical personable self, making faces for my camera. However, the crew asked me to leave after the rehearsals, so I never got to shoot any of the scene with Barrowman in full Dark Archer garb that also included Willa Holland. All I could tell from the rehearsal was Dark Archer shows up while people are panicking & running around the train station. He then pulls his bow out & aims it at something/someone.
This was the 1st time I caught up to John on set since last season.
Arrow airs Wednesday nights on The CW in The U.S. & on CTV in Canada.
THIS BLOG CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 17 OF SEASON 2 Of "ARROW". If you do not want to see/read any spoilers prior to the episode. Please do not read the article or view the photos below.
A very cold early February night, I caught the cast of Arrow filming scenes for episode 17 of season 2, "Birds Of Prey" on Homer Street. Both interior & exterior shoots were done, including scenes in a court room & outside in a courtyard upstairs that I couldnt see in the early part of the day.
As night time came, they moved to outside to shoot in the -4C chilly Vancouver air.
They did a scene in an alley that I was unable to see because of all the crew huddled around that I THINK consisted of Caity Lotz and Stephen Amell, both in their alter ego attires. Interestingly, as open as Degouw was about letting me photograph her in her mask, Caity was the exact opposite,
The 1st scene was 1 of Oliver walking up to a gaggle of cops, special forces personnel out on the street in front of the "Starling City Courthouse". Paul Blackthorne as Quentin Lance was also in the scene. Because of the terrible vantage point for the scene, I never could see much of what it entailed, just that Oliver is on the phone & walks around a police cruiser.
The 2nd scene after that I saw was with 2 ladies that you never expected to probably be sharing a scene. Jessica DeGouw, who I saw earlier in the day in her Huntress uniform & even posed for a photo in her mask had traded it in for a cop uniform. She was forcibly escorting Katie Cassidy (Laurel) at gunpoint out of my view in the scene, pressumably into a police cruiser, or away from the crowd of cops who seemed oblivious to this going on.
I also saw Caity Lotz on set this day in her Black Canary mask but she didn't want to be photographed in it, so I didn't....so its going to be a masktravaganza episode it seems.
I managed to get autographs on this day from Stephen, Katie, Caity & Jessica. I think that's a season 2 record for people I got on an Arrow set.
Arrow is airing new episodes every Wednesday on the CW in the U.S. & CTV in Canada.
Birds Of Prey episode is currently scheduled to air March 26th, 2014.
Arrow shoots some scenes for their season 2 mid-season finale "Three Ghosts" with Kevin Alejandro, Roger cross, Paul Blackthorne, David Ramsey & the stunt team in October.
A couple months ago, I caught Arrow filming near my house (its actually been happening A LOT this season).
On this particular day, they were filming scenes in 4 spots throughout the day for episode 209 "Three Ghosts", the mid-season finale.
A garage across the street that was all tented up to keep the light out was used for some scenes that included some Starling City PD. Roger Cross & Paul Blackthorne did scenes in there with several other Officers. This was of course the scene we now know as where Lucas Hilton is killed.
Meanwhile, across the street they had scenes shooting with Kevin Alejandro & a bunch of people inside the Chapel Arts building.
Later in the evening, they shot scenes in front of the Patricia Hotel with David Ramsey walking into the hotel to talk to a desk clerk while Stephen Amell's character (played by his stunt double Simon Burnett in these takes) sat in the car.
Later, a scene at the back end of the hotel had Diggle (played by his stunt double Sylvesta Stuart) jumping off outside stairs onto the ground. I caught a few of the practice takes earlier in the day, but by night time, there was too much equipment in the way & lighting was so bad that I didnt get any shots of the actual stunts.
Arrow airs every Wednesday on The CW in the U.S. & CTV in Canada as part of their AmellWednesdays with The Tomorrow People.
