Short videos of PSYCH filming scenes for "Shawn & Gus Truck Things Up" in season 8 with James, Dule & Timothy
Here is a couple quick videos from the set of "Psych" during season 8 filming of the food truck festival episode "Shawn & Gus Truck Things Up"
In this scene, Shawn & Gus (James Roday & Dule Hill) had just finished talking to Henry (Corbin Bernsen) [seen briefly in the 1st video] before they hurry over to Carlton "Lassie" Lassiter (Timothy Omundson) and proceed to talk with him
I saw a lot of the filming in this courtyard, I will have a couple more short videos at a later date from this set. Till then, here are these, and you can see another video HERE and of course lots of still photos, including some NOTABLE SPOILERS HERE and HERE
Psych returns for its 8th & final season (even though they wont say it...again, yet.) Jaunary 8, 2014 on USA.
Psych films a scene for the season 8 food truck episode "Shawn & Gus Truck Things Up" this past August
With the "Psych The Musical" episode less than 3 weeks away, felt it was time to drop a little bit of the backlog of Psych blog tidbits I've got left.
Today, a little short video of James Roday & Dule Hill as Shawn Spencer & Burton Guster, filming a scene for a season 8 episode of Psych where they investigate a murder at a food truck festival.
Its short, and really not much happens in it. But, its something to get you a little more excited about the upcoming Musical episode & of course, season 8, likely the final season, to come in early 2014.
Psych films scenes for episode 8009 "Shawn & Gus Truck Things Up" with a recurring guest star - NOTABLE SPOILERS
THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS NOTABLE SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 8009 OF "PSYCH" TENTATIVELY TITLED "SHAWN & GUS TRUCK THINGS UP".
If you do not want to know any spoilers to this episode.... DO NOT CONTINUE READING THIS ARTIVLE OR VIEWING THE PHOTOS!
The 2nd day I was on set for the Food Truck episode. A lot happened.
First, before I got there, my friend texted me & told me "Marla is on set". I instantly deciphered it as "Marlowe" & was hastily getting out there as fast as I could since I needed Kristy on some photos I had with me since the time that I literally missed her by seconds at River Rock Casino during the shooting of Marlowe & Lassies wedding episode.
Sure enough, Kristy Swanson was there. Along with all the guys. James Roday, Timothy Omundson, Dule Hill, Corbin Bernsen were all on set and later in the day Sage Brocklebank aka - Buzz McNab aka Morning Wood aka Magic Mike came in for some scenes.
So right to the big news.... unless you skipped to the photos 1st, in that case, this isn't such a breaking piece of news..... so, as you can tell from the photos below, there is a little Lassie coming soon....realllllly SOON. This time, it isn't in the shape of an adorable beagle.
First scene I saw had Marlowe show up at the food truck court looking for a snack. She tells Shawn & Gus not to tell Lassie shes there, as he hates food trucks. They let her go into their truck & shortly after Henry arrives & the boys get into a conversation with them when Lassie shows up & Shawn & Gus go to cut him off & have a conversation with Lassie.
There was a scene that had Shawn, Gus, Henry, Lassie & Marlowe all inside a food truck as Marlowe seemingly went into labour. The conversation that you could hear between Lassie & almost everyone was quite entertaining. I couldn't see that scene since it was entirely inside the truck, but I heard lots of it. It sounds great. Then came a scene where Shawn tries to get the food truck out of its very confined space to rush to the hospital. Imagine the Austin Powers shuttle cart scene, but slightly less over the top. After that Kristy wrapped her day. So had Corbin.
There was then scenes with Gus, Shawn, Lassie & McNab that included a prop toy baby. At first I thought this was supposed to be in place of a real baby, but realized after a few takes, nope, it was actually supposed to be a toy baby...which is good, when you see how it gets treated by father to be Carlton Lassiter.
Obviously, I only got to see a small portion of the episode, but I was laughing a lot at the takes I saw over the two days.
You can see more of my pics from this episode HERE
You can see my past Psych set photos HERE
This was the last Psych set I ever got to photograph or see. I do have a couple more sets to post eventually from another episode, with an even larger spoiler than this bombshell set.
Recently, the USA Network held a vote for fans to pick an episode that the show Psych would film.
One of the choices was where Shawn & Gus open their own Food Truck after the murder of a food truck owner to try & catch the culprit. It wasnt MY 1st choice. But it certainly seemed like everyone elses... and even though it somehow didnt win, they still made the episode.
Recently I caught them filming scenes for this episode in an area of South False Creek in Vancouver that I literally didnt even know existed.
They filmed there for 3 days. Two days 1 week, then another day the next week. I missed the 1st day, but caught them there the other 2 days.
On the 1st day I was there... I saw Shawn (James Roday) & Gus (Dule Hill) doing a variety of scenes in a food truck court. While many of the scenes were of the pair going up to other food trucks and talking to their vendors. The 1 I found best, was the 1 I heard best.
The 1st scene I saw done had Shawn & Gus, walking along offering free samples of their admittedly, delicious sounding foods (I wont spoil what it is, but imagine thanksgiving in a fried ball) to passer-bys when they are confronted by an angry fitness club owner (played by Sean Tyson) & a witty, Psych-esque banter takes place with the 3 before the fitness club owner forces Shawn & Gus to leave.
I've been to a lot of Psych sets over the time here & rarely do I ever find the scenes they shoot to be overly amusing (mainly because you rarely get to hear TOO much of whats being said) but this one made me smile a lot & took every ounce of my self control to not break out laughing on the set a few times.
Later on in the day they did some scenes at a few of the food trucks of Shawn & Gus asking different trucks owners questions & of course, trying their foods.
I found some of the names of the food trucks were brilliantly funny too. Whoever spent the time coming up with some of these names, genius.
India.Are.We, Meat & Mrs. Jones, In The Vegan-Ing, Gangsta Wraps & Mash&Grab (which Shawn & Gus are with) just some of the names I had a good chuckle at.
The menu at Mash&Grab was absolutely priceless as well. My friend took a photo of the entire menu and I nearly cried from laughter reading them.
I dont know who the woman in the Food Truck pictured is, but she had to be someone, as she got shuttled back with a cast vehicle & not with the extras. Also, I saw Kirsten Nelson at the set, but she never seemed to be in a scene. Perhaps just passing by & stopped to say hi to her cast & crewmates? Also saw 1 of the main writers Saladin Patterson on set.
I will have more from this episode soon. Including some other cast on set for scenes in the same food truck court, and a notable spoiler from the episode.
Recently, Psych, the hit comedy-drama from the USA Network filmed scenes for its season 8 finale. Which is also believed to be the series finale (I have been told by multiple sources it is the series finale, but no official word from USA yet).
On 1 of the days, I caught the cast & crew down near English Bay filming scenes so secretive that they did the very un-Psych like action of aggressively covering up any view of the scene.
While I do know what happened in the scene, for now, I wont spoil that. Instead, here are some photos of the cast & director Steve Franks on the set. James Roday, Dule Hill, Maggie Lawson & Kirsten Nelson were all spotted on set that day.
With Maggie Lawson leaving merely days after this shoot to start her next job on her new show "Back In The Game" in Los Angeles, this very well could be the last scenes Maggie ever shot for Psych.
I will have more from this set, with some grainy, more notable photos later this summer. For now...here you go. Also, coming soon, some photos from another episode they filmed outside a lot, about a murder in a food truck festival.
THIS POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR SEASON 8 PREMIERE OF "PSYCH". Do not read on, or view photos if you do not want to know anything prior to seeing the episode.
The cast & crew for the current longest runnng show on the USA Network, the comedy-drama crime show "Psych" are back to work on their 8th season already.
I caught up to them filming on 2 different occasions in their opening week.
First I caught them just a block off of Sunset Beach in Vancouver filming scenes that included Lassie (Timothy Omundson) at an apartment. At the time, I thought very little of the apartment till I stumbled across the trailers & found a trailer for....MARLOWE. This got me thinking, is this where the Lassiter-Viccellio love nest is? Only time will tell.
This past week USA Network officially confirmed Marlow weould be back in season 8 for a guest role, as well as the Cary Elwes character Pierre Despereaux.
A few days later, I was told about them being in New Westminster. After a long exhaustive game of "follow the bread crumbs" I found the set in uptown New West, a quiet neighbourhood of above average value houses.
On set that day, I saw Shawn & Gus (James Roday & Dule Hill) along with Juliet (Maggie Lawson). I also saw another cast member there. Unfortunately, I have no photos of this cast member on set at this time, because the specific person in question asked me not to post photos of them there that day, as it was a plot point that hasnt come up yet (and I instantly knew this person was right, having watched the show enough). Also on set on this day was, the blueberry. The scenes were all indoors while I was there, so I didnt see any filming...but here is my 1st pics of Psych cast & crew back at work for the 8th & likely final season (if James Roday & Dule Hill were telling it like it is at the Upfronts last week)..
THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE SEASON 7 FINALE OF "PSYCH". Do not continue reading or watching the videos if you do not want to see any possible spoilers.
Back in October, the hit USA Network Crime Procedural comedy Psych was filming their season 7 finale....even though the premiere wouldstill not even air for 4 months.
On the day I caught them in North vancouver, there was a couple short diriving scenes done.
As you have probably already seen from the photos I posted in my blog posts (spoilers inside)
and here http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/6/post/2012/11/this-past-week-psych-spent-halloween-filming-scenes-for-the-season-7-finale-no-spoiler-post.html
Well, here are videos from them shooting.
I apologize for the background sounds on both of them... I frankly dont know whats up with the odd sounds (the clicking of my camera aside.. at least I know what that sound is).
First up... a scene where the Blueberry pulls up to a stop after Henry's truck pulls into the lot beside them.
The second video I wish I had the zoom option on my camera working smoother at the time. Something I learned on this day... when my camera gets reallly wet (which it was really wet that day) Sometimes basic functions dont react immediately...such as zooming out/in.
So here is a video of Henry Spencer driving by with a message for Shawn & Gus (who are off camera for the scene)
Last week I was eager to find Psych filming, as it was the last week of season 7, and depending what the powers that be at the NBC run USA Network that have already been grossly incomptent in mismanaging the shows premiering date, could end up being the shows final season.
My adventure started on the 29th. I followed a lead to South Vancouver, only to literally miss them finishing by less than 1/2 an hour. My buddy & I found out though that they were heading to the studio where they filmed partly on the 30th. As it turned out, they also did some on location shoots, and I headed over there to catch them the next day...only to AGAIN miss them, this time by mere minutes as I saw James Roday leave the set in 1 of their transportation vehicles.
The original wrap date for the show was the 30th, so this was pretty disappointing. Occasionally, shows will need a couple days more than their original end date to finish up. Luckily, I would find out, this was the case for Psych. While I stood around, deciding what to do in the pouring rain I came across 1 of their film notices & saw a tidbit of hope, they still had to film on the 31st. About 500 feet from there, I found another film notice for Psych, also with filming for the 31st on the next block down. I was making SURE I didnt miss this.
The morning of October 31st I made the trek over to the Lonsdale Quay area of North Vancouver, a city I had NEVER gone to for filming. Luckily, the locations were very close to the Quay, which is easy to find, since the aquatic transit vehicle, the seabus drops off right there. I walked over to where they were supposed to be filming, but nothing was around, except for a few no parking signs. The film notice suggested filming should start around 8 AM, and with it being 9 AM when I got there, I was quite confused to not see any setting up, filming, or taking down of the filming area. From there I walked around a corner to where I saw some pylons, and there I saw it.... the Blueberry, parked next to another film vehicle in a lot, all by itself. It would be almost FOUR HOURS till they started filming in that location.
They did a few different scenes, some of which I am not going to entirely explain in this post, as I will save it for another blog post later this week with a mild spoiler (for those who dont read message boards or saw their S7 promo ad it might be a big spoiler). The scenes essentially show Shawn & Gus in the blueberry driving around following this other vehicle. Eventually we see scenes shot where James Roday & Dule Hill are at a hot dog stand with fistfulls of snacks, (hotdogs & drinks.). Gus & Shawn walk away from the truck, Shawn gets a call on his phone & they proceed to watch someone behind camera walk along holding a sign. That is, the end of the scene.
Later that evening, I found Dry Gulch Slim & Ovaltine Jenkins doing interior scenes at a restaraunt on Lonsdale Ave, unfortunately, the only shots to be had from there was of the well lit outside of the building, as the filming was all indoors.
So, here are pics from the day of shooting... and dont forget, I will have more photos from this day of shooting later in the week of another cast member doing part of the scene holding a very Psych-y sign as the person drives by Shawn & Gus.
PSYCH finally gets its season 7 air date - and its not good. So for the Psych-o's in withdrawl mode, heres a short video from THIS SEASON of Shawn & Gus doing a scene
THIS POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR SEASON 7 OF "PSYCH". IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO SEE OR READ POSSIBLE SPOILERS, DO NOT CONTINUE.
This week, fans of the hit cult USA Network show "Psych" found out finally what the start date would be for the 7th season.
Like a Ewan O'Hara punch, the collective community of fans were hit with a near knockout blow by the USA Network. Their beloved crime fighting team will not be seen till FEBRUARY 27th!! Yes, February 27th, 2013.
To give some perspective on this disrespect,
-Season 6, the season just before it started October 12, 2011. More than 16 months will have gone by till the season 7 premiere.
- By February 27th, 2012, 9 episodes from season 6 had already passed.
- Season 6 finale was April 11th, 2012. More than 10 months earlier than the season 7 start date.
- The ENTIRE PRODUCTION of season 7 will have been filmed & wrapped for just a couple days short of FOUR MONTHS before the 1st episode of season 7 even airs.
Now these facts lead to a pretty unappealing scenario for Psych-o's everywhere. Either The USA Network is hoping the show will fail, or they have already agreed to end the show & are trying to drag out the finale of the networks longest running show (wrestling doesnt count).
Is it possible the networks longest running show is being given the heave-ho? In recent years USA Netowk has had some new blood in their pool with the success of Suits & Necessary Roughness. But they are still a network that has a limited amount of shows & Psych, their longest lasting one (no one counts WWE, sorry USA) could be on the outs??
Well, to hold over the Psych fans out there till the network brings back Maniac Maniac 19, Guy Buttersnaps, Lassie, Jules, Chief Vick, Woody, Buzz and yes Henry (he will be back in SOME capacity) here is a short video of Shawn (James Roday) & Gus (Dule Hill) shooting a scene for season 7 a few months ago.
What you cant see in this scene is the Blueberry. Its off to the left in the repair shop. I cant say exactly what Shawn & Gus are discussing with the mechanic, but whatever it is, I am sure it has something to do with the blueberry being torn right in HALF as you can see from the pics from the blog I posted about this months ago. http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/6/post/2012/07/some-photos-of-psych-stars-james-roday-dule-hill-filming-scenes-for-season-7-w-bonus-timothy-omundson-sage-brocklebank.html
So, here is a short video of 1 of their takes from that day.
