The Best Category of 2012 as voted by you the fans was.. JIM PARSONS "THE BIG BANG THEORY".
Last year The Big Bang Theory was thwarted from sweeping the comedy categories by "How I Met Your Mother" actor Neil Patrick Harris. Not so this year. Jim Parsons, the man who plays the super brilliant, stubbornly ignorant, socially awkward Dr. Sheldon Cooper managed to take an award that has been given to him by practically every other awards ceremony and website in the past couple years. With Neil Patrick Harris' character of Barney Stinson becoming more mature & settling down, his role of ladies man has been hindered & a,logn with it, seemingly, his popularity. Danny Pudi as the wonderfully complex & simple Abed on "Community" garnered a 3rd place finish ahead "Psych" star Timothy Omundson wo potrays the by the book detective "carlton "Lassie" Lassiter". Cory Monteith from "Glee' finished well back in 5th. Jim Parsons "The Big Bang Theory" beat runner up Neil Patrick Harris "How I Met Your Mother" by 86 votes, 3rd place Danny Pudi "Community" was 59 behind 2nd and 80 ahead of 4th place Timothy Omundson from "Psych". Well back in 5th was Cory Monteith "Glee" 44 votes behind 4th Jim Parsons beats defending champion Neil Patrick Harris. This is the 2nd win for best comedy actor by a CBS show. Timothy Omundson is the only finalist this year who was not in last years finals. Final vote totals Jim Parsons "The Big Bang Theory" 305 Neil Patrick Harris "How I Met Your Mother" 219 Danny Pudi "Community" 160 Timothy Omundson "Psych" 80 Cory Monteith "Glee" 36

The Best Actress in a Comedy Program of 2012 as voted by you the fans was.. MAYIM BIALIK "THE BIG BANG THEORY.
Miss Bialik winning this was actually a pleasant shock to me. I had a write up for Kaley Cuoco all prepared. While I love seeing Kaley on my screen every week, and even think she is exceptional in the role, I actually think Mayim is the better actress on the show and was sincerely pleased to see most of you agreed this year. The brilliant & sexually frustrated girlfriend of socially awkward super genius Sheldon Cooper, Amy Farrah Fowler is 1 of the most complex and confusing characters on TV & it is hard to think anyone but Mayim doing the role now. She ended up nudging out her cast mate & defending champ. While lots of the winners seemed to generate their support from Twitter, her success seemed to come from TBBT fans on Tumblr. The "New Girl" to the finals Zooey Deschanel squeezed into 3rd ahead of last years runner up Jane Lynch of "Glee". Maggie Lawson of "Psych" manages to make the finals for a 2nd year in a row, finishing 5th this time. Mayim Bialik beat runner up Kaley Cuoco by only 12 votes, 3rd place Zoeey Deschanel was 88 votes back of the runner up. 4th place Jane Lynch of "Glee" was 23 votes back of 3rd and 14 ahead of the 5th place Maggie Lawson of "Psych". This is the 2nd consecutive win for an actress from The Big Bang Theory. Mayim Bialik beats out last years winner, her cast mate Kaley Cuoco. Zoeey Deschanel was the only finalist this year not to be in last years finals. The 12 vote margain of victory is the smallest margain this year. The smallest margain of victory ever previous was Best Drama in 2010 when "Dexter" won by 13 votes over "The Vampire Diaries". Final vote totals Mayim Bialik "The Big Bang Theory" 217 Kaley Cuoco "The Big Bang Theory" 205 Zooey Deschanel "New Girl" 117 Jane Lynch "Glee" 94 Maggie Lawson "Psych" 80 The Best New TV Program of 2012 as voted by you the fans was.. ARROW (CW).
From the beginning this was really a 2 horse race. Arrow won the nomination round, Elementary won the semi-finals, with Arrow of course taking the finals. No other show finshed 1st or 2nd in any of the rounds. Seems this year was all about characters people already knew facing off as The CW version of The Green Arrow faced off with the Americanized version of Sherlock Holmes. The 2 shows really have been stand alone top of the class in a fairly thin rookie class. While I have watched & enjoyed all 5 of the finalists, these 2 really are the ones that have stepped up their game & its no coincidence you fans agreed. If there was 1 ommission in my own opinion from the list, it was The Newsroom, which failed to make it to the finals. It was kind of cool to see 2 based in Vancouver shows make the finals. Continuum, based in 2012 with "flashbacks..errr flashforwards...what do you call it?) to 2077 & the dinosaur roaming thru our city sci-fi hit take on the British version of the show "Primeval" Primeval: New World both garnered enough support to get into the finals book ending a cancelled ABC action/drama show "Last Resort" Arrow beat runner up Elementary by 67 votes, 3rd place Continuum was 177 votes back, ahead of 4th place Last Resort by just 4 votes. Rounding out the finalists Primeval: New World finished 56 votes back For the second year in a row a Vancouver made show won the Best New Show honours. This is the 1st win for the CW network in the category (AMC & ABC previously winning). Final vote totals Arrow (CW) 374 Elementary (CBS) 307 Continuum (Showcase) 130 Last Resort (ABC) 126 Primeval: New World (Space) 70 The Favorite TV Character of 2012 as voted by you the fans was.. DEAN WINCHESTER "SUPERNATURAL".
The 1st 3 time award winner... Dean Winchester. For the 3rd time in a row, Dean beat the competition like they were a Leviathan or a demon. As the sharp tongued world saving older brother of the bad everything fighting Winchester Brothers overcomes everything again this year...including a vacation in Purgatory. For the 3rd straight time, a different runner up. This time "Lost Girl" Dr. Lauren Lewis provided the closest challenge to date only 32 votes back. Another Lost Girl, the succubus Bo took the last spot on the podium, beating out another SPN star, angel Castiel. In the final season of their show "Leverage" the slightly crazy thief Parker finishes 5th. Crime writer turned fighter Richard Castle inches up 1 spot this year to 6th, beating 2010 finalist the murderous Dexter Morgan for 7th. Part of the world saving team from "Fringe" Peter Bishop took 8th, while 9th & 10th were "Psych" crime fighters Burton Guster & Carlton Lassiter. Dean Winchester beat runner up Dr. Lauren Lewis by 32 votes, 3rd "Lost Girl" Bo was 90 behind 2nd and 38 votes ahead of 4th place Castiel from "Supernatural". 5th place Parker from "Leverage" finished a mere 7 votes out of 4th Dean Winchester scores a hat trick. 3 years in a row for the Supernatural older brother. There have only been 3 characters to be in the finals all 3 years (of course only 10 finalists this year limited the amount of repeats). Dean & Castiel from SPN & Parker from "Leverage" are the only 3 time finalists, and with Leverage ending... there is no way to have all 3 of them next year. "Fringe" has managed a finalist in each of the years, with Walter Bishop in 2010, Olivia Dunham, Walter & Peter Bishop in 2011, and of course Peter again this year. They will have 1 more chance next year. Dexter Morgan of "Dexter" becomes the 1st nominee to be in the 1st year, miss a year, and come back again. Final vote totals Dean Winchester "Supernatural" 374 Dr. Lauren Lewis "Lost Girl" 342 Bo "Lost Girl" 252 Castiel "Supernatural" 214 Parker "Leverage" 207 Richard Castle "Castle" 131 Dexter Morgan "Dexter" 125 Peter Bishop "Fringe" 95 Burton Guster "Psych" 77 Carlton Lassiter "Psych" 72 The Favorite TV Show of 2012 as voted by you the fans was.. SUPERNATURAL.
Not a shocking result, as SPN has dominated these awards year after year. I secretly hoped the runner up "Fringe" could pull off the upset when they early on had been tied with SPN. Eventually the SPN fan machine took over & strangled the competition. Lost Girl and Castle, two continual contenders here took 3rd & 4th & honestly, I expected more of a fight from both of them. But this years award goes to the evil fighting brothers Sam & Dean. This year saw them fighting leviathan, demons and even their own feelings of each other as both of them have made choices the other doesnt agree with. "Supernatural beat runner up "Fringe" by 318 votes, 3rd place "Lost Girl" was 57 votes back of Fringe & 88 votes ahead of "Castle" for 4th. In 5th was "Dexter" 67 behind 4th and only 9 votes ahead of 6th place "The Walking Dead' who beat out 7th place "The Big Bang Theory" by 14 votes. Down in 8th place "Game Of Thrones" was 10 behind 7th and edged 9th place "Hawaii Five-O" by 16 votes. The final finalist, 1st year show "Arrow" finished just 6 votes back. The 1st ever Favorite Show award goes to the most decorated show in our awards, Supernatural.. Final vote totals Supernatural (CW) 706 Fringe (FOX) 388 Lost Girl (Showcase) 331 Castle (ABC 243 Dexter (HBO) 176 The Walking Dead (AMC) 167 The Big Bang Theory (CBS) 153 Game Of Thrones (HBO) 143 Hawaii Five-O (CBS) 127 Arrow (CW) 121 The Best Guest Star of 2012 as voted by you the fans was.. MARK PELLEGRINO "SUPERNATURAL".
Much like the Supporting actor category, it was a Supernatural dominated category, with fringe making just enough noise to prevent complete domination. Mark Pellegrino takes the award, leaving another SPN guest star DJ Qualls in 2nd "Fringe" star Leonard Nimoy nabs 3rd, interrupting the potential podium sweep for SPN as Felicia Day takes 4th. All 4 of these people had the lead in this poll at 1 time, before Pellegrino took over & never looked back. With Lucifer having been queited from Sams head, will this be the last we see of Pellegrino on SPN? Hard to say, but with Mark doing so many shows, its not too hard to see him back for this award again in the near future. Mark Pellegrino beats runner up DJ Qualls by 123 votes. Back in 3rd, Leonard Nimoy was 103 votes out of 2nd, and narrowly beats 4th place Felicia Day by only 4 votes. 5th place Wil Wheaton from "The Big Bang Theory" was 113 votes back, beating out "Fringe" guest star Rebecca Mader by 22 votes. Mark Pellegrino wins his 1st award here, and the 1st for SPN in this category as the inagural award went to Smallville star Michael Rosenbaum.. Final vote totals Mark Pellegrino "Supernatural" 514 DJ Qualls "Supernatural" 391 Lenoard Nimoy "Fringe" 288 Felicia Day "Supernatural" 284 Wil Wheaton "The Big Bang Theory" 171 Rebecca Mader "Fringe" 149 The Best Supporting Actor of 2012 as voted by you the fans was.. JIM BEAVER "SUPERNATURAL".
Our Supporting actor/actress awards of course are a bit different than the mainstream awards. With a requirement of no less than 3, and no more than 7 episode appearances in the calendar year, you get a various assortment of notable & less notable people nominated. While everything was coming up Crowley this year, 1 thing that didn't for the actor portraying him, Mark Sheppard, was another win as supporting actor. This year was all about Bobby, as his Supernatural co-star Jim Beaver, a mainstay on the show for many years was killed off & essentially, bumped from regular to supporting category Beaver and Sheppard were in a dogfight till about the last day, when Beaver took a bigger lead & never looked back. With 7 finalists, there was 4 from SPN & 2 from Fringe. The shows combined for 4 of the top 5 spots last year, and had the top 4 & 5 of 6 spots this year. Jim Beaver beat runner up Mark Sheppard by only 47 votes, 3rd place Fringe star Michael Cerveris was 126 votes behind and only 24 votes ahead of 4th place finalist "Supernatural" Ty Olsson. 5th was nabbed by "Dexter" actor Ray Stevenson 128 votes back & only 8 votes ahead of 6th Jared Harris from "Fringe". Jim Beaver gives "Supernatural" its 2nd consecutive win here, and manage to at the same time beat the defending champion. With 4 finalists, this is the 2nd ever category where a show has managed 4 finalists, both times it was Supernatural (2011 Guest Star). Mark Sheppard & Michael Cerveris were the only repeat finalists.. Final vote totals Jim Beaver "Supernatural" 478 Mark Sheppard "Supernatural" 431 Michael Cerveris "Fringe" 305 Ty Olsson "Supernatural" 281 Ray Stevenson "Dexter" 153 Jared Harris "Fringe" 145 Osric Chau "Supernatural" 88 |
