This post contains filming information for Arrow episode 317 "Suicidal Tendencies". IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS EPISODE AND DO NOT WANT TO VIEW POTENTIAL SPOILERS, DO NOT CONTINUE READING OR VIEWING THE PHOTOS BELOW. . . . last warning . . Arrow was filming scenes a couple months ago for episode 317 "Suicidal Tendencies" in East Vancouver at a hall they have used several times for several things. This time, the hall was not a hospital, or hall of records, but a wedding hall. As I tweeted back when the shooting happened, the cast were shooting a scene for a wedding, and although my joke that it was Ray & Felicity wedding was met with some anger by overly sensitive Olicity fans, the true happy couple was eventually sleuthed out by the fanbase. David Ramsey and Audrey Marie Anderson as John Diggle & Lyla Michaels were shooting scenes where the couple gets re-married. Of course Dig & Lyla had a few friends at their joyous event of note. Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, Willa Holland as Thea Queen and Colton Haynes as Roy Harper and Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance were also all at the event. Very little of the actual filming could be seen from outside. Only things I can confirm are things that are already known on the internet. It was a Dig & Lyla wedding, and Felicity catches the bouquet. Outside of that, no dialogue was heard, and very little of the scene could even be seen thru the 2 pglass doors, dozens of extras and equipment. Of course, what would a Suicide Squad themeed episode be without a member of Amanda Wallers bunch? A scene was done outside after the reception scene with Dig & Lyla walking to a limo and getting in. Waiting for them on the inside was Michael Rowe as Floyd Lawton, aka - Deadshot. What takes place inside the limo, who knows? Perhaps the SS was playing security detail for the wedding? Or, Lyla or Dig was being called away to a job. Will have to wait till next week to see. This was what I call the "beginning of the end" of the Arrow set being a place where you could go & meet the case easily. There was no less than 20 people throughout the day at the set, and at 1 point, 19 people were there at the same time. Sure enough, it encouraged many of the cast to start sneaking out the back doors when they were on a break instead of coming out the front doors as they did when there was only 5 or 8 of us. This was of course part of what I call a "perfect storm" of circumstances. The 4 big productions in town were all on location that day (Flash, Once Upon A Time & Supernatural along with Arrow), as fans went to the other locations & found them to be either inaccessible, or boring, they all flocked to the Arrow set where they were hearing about how many cast were there & how accessible they were. It was clearly obvious that 1/2 of the people at the Arrow set that day were not even fans of the show, but just wanted to meet "someone famous". I miss the days where there was just 2 or 3, and sometimes just me, at the set. Arrow airs Wednesday nights on The CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada.

THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR ARROW EPISODE 222 "STREETS OF FIRE". If you have not seen the episode & do not want to see or read any details prior to viewing it. DO NOT procede. . . . last warning . . A few weeks ago I caught Arrow filming a major night time scene for the penultimate episode titled "Streets Of Fire" The scenes I saw tell as much as they dont tell if that makes sense. What is noticiable is "Team Arrow" seems short handed in this scene as they have Felicity Smoak out helping "the team" (just Diggle & Oliver) on an overpass with a plethora of crashed & burning cars scattered on the Georgia Viaduct, which Arrow paid big $ to have closed down for the night so they could get these big scenes done. Diggle, Oliver & Felicity are making their way along the overpass when someone screams & the group goes running. Thats all I could see from my viewpoint at the time. Later, I changed sides, and took the 5 minute walk to the other side of the overpass where I was able to see they were rushing to an overturned car looking for someone who had already fled the scene. Later on, after Stephen Amell, Emily Bett Rickards & David Ramsey had wrapped for the night, the crew filmed a big scene that many of you have surely seen form my teaser photo on twitter a few weeks ago, or the most recent Arrow promo video. Slade has been making a mirakuru army & we see his results as a Deathstroke mask wearing army marches along the overpass seemingly towards the city. After they wrapped these scenes, I tried to get photos of 1 of the cast members in the mask, but kept getting denied when I asked. I guess whoever was in charge of co-ordinating them told them to try not to be photographed in them. Only pic I got of the mask close up was while 1 guy was holding it up against his chest after he took it off. Arrow airs Wednesday nights on The CW in The U.S. & CTV in Canada. Arrow, the 2013 Best Action Or Drama Program winner in the Best Of TV Awards 2013 filmed scenes at the Vancouver Trade & Convention Centre (which was the same place they had Ollies welcome home party in the pilot) for a scene from this last episode of season 2 before the Olympic Hiatus. In this scene, I was uncertain exactly what was happening, partially because of the glare off the glass I was watching thru, but also, I could only see about 20% of the entire scene. I now know, it was for an election rally for Moira Queen...yes, murderer turned politician. This would be too absurd to believe if Rob Ford wasnt a thing that exists. At the time I thought I had caught photos of a nice mom/son embrace, but as we all know from the episode now, this was a less than pleasant encounter between mother & son. On set was a variety of cast over the 2 days they shot there. Stephen Amell, Susanna Thompson, Willa Holland, Emily Bett Rickards & David Ramsey were certainly there at times. Colin Salmon was also on set for the scenes, but I never saw him around. Here are the handful of pics I got that day. Sorry I am so late posting them, Christmas & my year end awards, which Arrow won a couple of, got in my way of blogging about my set encounters. Better late than never? A couple months ago, I caught Arrow filming near my house (its actually been happening A LOT this season). On this particular day, they were filming scenes in 4 spots throughout the day for episode 209 "Three Ghosts", the mid-season finale. A garage across the street that was all tented up to keep the light out was used for some scenes that included some Starling City PD. Roger Cross & Paul Blackthorne did scenes in there with several other Officers. This was of course the scene we now know as where Lucas Hilton is killed. Meanwhile, across the street they had scenes shooting with Kevin Alejandro & a bunch of people inside the Chapel Arts building. Later in the evening, they shot scenes in front of the Patricia Hotel with David Ramsey walking into the hotel to talk to a desk clerk while Stephen Amell's character (played by his stunt double Simon Burnett in these takes) sat in the car. Later, a scene at the back end of the hotel had Diggle (played by his stunt double Sylvesta Stuart) jumping off outside stairs onto the ground. I caught a few of the practice takes earlier in the day, but by night time, there was too much equipment in the way & lighting was so bad that I didnt get any shots of the actual stunts. Arrow airs every Wednesday on The CW in the U.S. & CTV in Canada as part of their AmellWednesdays with The Tomorrow People. Here is a video from ARROW shooting the season 2 premiere on July 18, 2013 on busy Granville Street in the entertainment district of Vancouver. The scene has Stephen Amell and David Ramsey as Oliver Queen & John Diggle talking about the wave of copycat vigilantes over-running Starling City since The Hood went AWOL after the earthquake. Arrow is on Wednesday nights on The CW at 8 PM/ 7 Central. You can catch this episode of Arrow already online U.S. viewers only can see it on The CW website Canadian viewers can see it on The CTV website THIS POST CONTAINS MILD SPOILERS FOR A SEASON 2 EPISODE. If you do not wish to read or view any spoilers prior to the airing of the season, please do not continue. . . . last warning . . In a rare event, I found the Arrow set & no Stephen Amell on set. Seriously, this is actually possible. On this particular day, I found Colton Haynes (aka - Roy Harper ) doing scenes with someone I was very familiar with from her great job doing a previous role on another Vancouver show "The Killing", Bex Taylor-Klaus. Till that day, it was a mystery who Bex was going to play. I had known for several days she was here, but didn't know what role, or frankly, till the day before, even what show the 19 year old rising star was here for. But after she was photographed by several people on set that day, The CW decided to confirm Bex was on the show, to play the character of SIN...which I'm happy with, as I said, I have already seen what she brings to the table acting wise. But some whiny fanboys on tumblr got their panties in a knot over this because apparently Sin is supposed be Asian. Well, I don't recall there being something that stated they had to cast the role for the show the way comic books portrayed them. Honestly, if their life is so ruined because of who got cast in a T.V. show for a character that most casual fans are unfamiliar with or barely know, then they really need to re-assess their lives. Funny random moment of this day was when I went up to get Bex to sign some photos & she instantly recognized me from when she saw me around for "The Killing". When I asked her she instantly said "your Canadagraphs?" & I told her yes & that it was nice to finally meet (since the 1st two times I saw her I didn't even know her name yet). Colton took photos with a few fans & Bex even offered to be the photographer for these encounters. The scenes I saw show were of Roy seemingly chasing after, or running along with Sin thru the streets of Starling City. Later on I saw Roy doing more scenes where it looked like he was delivering something somewhere...but couldn't see enough of it to know for sure. On the lunch break, the other unit for the show came over to the food trucks for their meals & I saw David Ramsey, Caity Lotz & Emily Bett Rickards there briefly before they jetted away back to their other location. There will be more Arrow photos from other sets throughout the season. For now, enjoy these & if you want to see other sets from this season & last year, check out the rest of my blog posts here I give you Roy Harper & Sin....... BTS video of Arrow star David Ramsey shooting a scene with a grenade launcher for a season 1 episode9/2/2013 Here is some exclusive video of John Diggle (aka - David Ramsey) on set last season filming the scene for episode 11 of season 1 "Trust But Verify" where he shoots a grenade at some henchmen. I intended to post this sooner, just sort of got buried under a few things & then forgotten. Just a little something to hold you ARROW fans over till I can post some new, fresh material. |
