Smallville star Justin Hartley and that other guy seen Comic-Con weekend

Smallville had several of their cast members at the 2010 Comic-Con this weekend.

None bigger than Justin Hartley.

Ok, breathe in & breathe out you Clark Kent fanatics. I am aware your anti-social hero is supposedly the star, but his bitterly hate filled attitude makes it impossible for me to acknowledge hes a star of anything.

before someone rants "he just wants his privacy"..well, then quit television and for fuck sakes...dont become an underwear model. Yeah, he craves privacy alright.

The Metropolis superheros played a little game of switch em' up on us this weekend. We saw Hartley leaving, but didnt see Welling. Then saw Welling return when we were expecting Hartley.

Tommy boy was his spiteful, ignorant, narcissistic self upon returning, going as far as to blame other people for not signing for me..instead of just saying "I'm just a cocksucker, thats why I wont sign". he blamed having to catch his ride...because that 15 seconds of signing for the 4 people there would ruin his whole day. Then he blamed it on a pap shooting, because I guess a camera lense is physically capable of weakening his arm so much that he cant lift up a pen.

All that aside. Tom actually said more to me there, than in the severla previous meetings combined over the years. I believe he even formed full sentences on occasion. Hooked on Phonics might be working for him. Tom did in fact sign 1 autograph, to the shock of everyone, on of all things...an 8x10 phot. The most dealer specific item there is. My Entertainment Weekly magazine, that I have dragged around on occasion since the 1st season he refused to sign, but a photo, he signed. The logic behind it is still unknown to any of us...even the guy who got it. In the world of Tom Welling, this was the NICEST hes ever been...and he was still a prick.

All that aside, Justin Hartley, the class act of the show made up for his co-stars pisspoor attitude by signing up a storm upon departing for Comic-Con. He apologized for not having time to sign more & promised if he saw us upon arriving, he would do the rest. Now there is a class act. When I revise my best celebries list next, Justin will be making the list...which I guess will balance out the fact his co-star is already on the worst list.

I know you've interacted enough with celebs and athletes enough to notice a trend. So if you say Welling is a dick, I'm pretty convinced. Someone can't be in a bad mood consistently for 10 years right?

But the reason I'm commenting is for Justin. It's lovely to see him being gracious and accommodating. Also, massively hot. Hartley >>>>> Welling.

I've never met either of them, but I hope to god I have the luck of running into Justin one day.

Tom's not a dick at all times. He was just at comic con, and he was a true gently man. He walked by my friend and I and he waved to us and said hi! He was a complete gentleman!

vid 1- At The CW HQ, correct? So in otherwords a STAGED PR EVENT! Strike 1.

Vid 2- If I'm not mistaken..the same OR event? At the very least, a PR event somewhere. strike 2.

Vid 3- Oh hey, look SAME EVENT! So the ONLY time you could ever find him being nice is an event where he is expected to be nice for his bosses? Yeah, some great, nice guy he is. Strike 3.

In the future, dont use staged PR events as your "proof" it only makes you look like the fool.

First, please don't make assumptions it only makes YOU look like a fool. I did not begin my comment with "Look, this is the ONLY place I could find Tom Welling interacting with fans" ... I did not mean to post more than one event, but If you would like me to post pictures of him interacting with fans on other occasions I would gladly do so however unlike you I do actually have a life so I'd prefer if you just googled it yourself.

As for it being an "event" ... NO ONE, not even Tom Welling, can turn it on and turn it off like that. If he was really the person you described in the blog above he would MAYBE be able to come across as friendly at whatever event and to the press, but he would not go out of his way to ask people how old they are, their names, what it says on their shirt... whatever else he has said etc...and if he was really the person you described what would have stopped him from just stopping for pictures on his own and then walking into the event? Many of those fans were standing with the press line and he had no reason to go over and interact with them other than the fact that he's nice.

Clearly you're entitled to your own opinion, but the bottom line is you don't know him... at all.

That is not to say I know him either, but even if what you said was true I would never trash him because I DONT know him... I DO however know several people that have met him outside of "pr events" and he has been nothing but kind. He IS extremely private, and it does piss people off sometimes, but he's always been the first to apologize for it.

But my point is... you only know what you've seen...that said. It seems the wording in your blog is meant to throw people off. You say he did actually speak to you, but then you don't go into detail. Then you say he "refused" to sign your magazine... though, I assume that is an exaggeration since you did not put that in quotes and I highly doubt Tom said "I refuse to sign this for you" ... then you say he "blamed" though even reading the words it still sounds like "apologized" to me... your blog seems more like a lot of choice wording and hyperbole than actual fact.

Actually the saying is...to assume makes an ass out of you AND me.

It's easy to see someone you admire through rose tinted glasses. I'm not saying Tom Welling is rude. I don''t agree or disagree with either point of view on Tom because i've never met him but for you to attack the blogger (saying, "you should get a life", "stalker") points out that you aren't looking at the situation objectively. People are always going to have differences of opinion on any situation that happens but to get respect when expressing your opinion, you need to give respect as well.

Wilson, seriously? No one is going to listen to anything you say after you make such an ignorant comment.

I live in Vancouver, and I know quite a few people (some of them my friends) who have had similar experiences with Tom Welling. I'm personally a big fan of Smallville and I like Tom Welling too, but I'm also not naïve enough to just disregard what everyone has been saying about him and just keep on thinking him a saint.

I like the show enough to not let it bother me, and I like to think that if I ever bumped into Tom, he would be very welcoming of the attention, but I know that it isn't very likely.

First off I think this little battle of the hounds needs to stop. Second I need to defend Tom in the highest way possible because when I met him he was nothing but a sweetheart. For the upfronts he was the celberity who stayed the longest for the fans and he was even nice enough to take peoples camera's and take the pictures so that it would be easier.

Tom Welling is not a dick I think it just depends on the people who interact with him. If someone is selfishly throwing stuff for him to sign or taking pictures of him non stop I'd be pissed too.

ItsthatGirlC - Look, I realize I feel the need to defend him because I am a fan and because I know several people who have met him and said nothing but kind things about him, who to me personally are a lot more trustworthy as sources then this blogger. That said...if you read my comment you'd see that I did say I know everyone has an opinion...and I obviously don't know the blogger either, but I DO know he hangs around airports looking for celebrities, and I'm sure a lot of people recognize him as that person at this point.

It's funny that no one had a response to my saying maybe Tom doesn't want to help other people gain money off his name. I personally think asking someone you clearly don't even like for an autograph just to later make money off of it is obnoxious and I don't blame Tom for not wanting to sign something like that.

That said, I'm sick of wasting my breath on this blog now. We've obviously all heard different things about him from different people and we all choose to believe different things. I guess we'll never know for sure until we meet him ourselves. :)

The fact of the matter is this is what these guys do. They're autograph hounds and the celebrities know that. If they choose not to sign for them it is not a reflection of how they would act in front of an actual fan (and maybe they can say they're actually fans of some people, but they can't say that about Tom obviously, so why are they even asking him for an autograph?) I happen to actually know several of the people mentioned in this blog who are mentioned as "unfriendly" or "dicks" and I can say without a doubt that is NOT true. Choose to believe me or not, but if you want to judge celebrities based on what other people write about them do it off a blog of someone who can actually call themself a fan who isn't sitting at an airport with multiple pictures not planning to even keep any of them for themself.

I am only going to respond to the parts that I think need responding..sorry if I miss something you thought I should respond to.
1- I have met LOTS of people who are utter asses in person that can pretend they are puppy loving baby kissing saints when they are paid to be. In fact, MOST of the notoriously terrible in person meetings people have are usualyl with the "he seems so nice on TV" types. So yes, he certainly is capable of turning it on whenever he feels like it.

2- you are also entitled to your opinion as well..and I wont criticize you that much for differing with mine. Reality is, as you said, you dont know him either. My only defense to this is... based on the multiple interactions I have had with him in multiple settings, I know him slightly better than you. I dont "know" him, but I do know more about how he acts in public than you & may I dare to say...than your friends who might have met him somewhere once.

3- What did he say??. Cliff notes paraphrasing version (cant recall exact word for word.. it has been several days now afterall, but the jist of it goes like this)
Mr. Welling time for an autograph-"umm, no"
Really, why not? (now at this point..passing other people in the airport) - "Because I dont feel like it"
C'mon I've had this same item for 10 yrs. We almost never see you, How hard is it to sign just one- "haha *something I couldnt hear because he had his back to me* another time"
(several seconds alter, after he signed for the other person...I attempt again)
Can you sign, please you signed for him? - "You can thank that guy there *points at pap* for all this, blame him". He then proceeded to drop the discussion.
That detailed enough for you...or are you going to find double meanings for all of his words to bend it to fit your pre-conceived idea hes a sweetie & couldnt be that rude?

I get that & frankly, have almost no problem with it. My offense to him isnt because he treats us professionals like this, its because he treats EVERYONE like this. I have witnessed him snub a 9-12 yr old girl with a poster. NOT me, not some other pro. A KID! in fact, this week, is the first time I have seen him sign for ANYONE....and hey, it was for people who will sell it. He signed an 8x10 photo for fuck sakes. He sees a person at the airport, with a blue sharpie & an 8x10 & a binder 2 inches thick of photos...you really think he thinks they are a fan???

ItsthatGirlC- Well put. I am fine with someone disagreeing with my analysis....but at least have a rational & competent response, and not a red in the face, temper tantrum because I attacked someone you idolize. Unfortunately, fans are called fans for a reason. its short for the word fanatical...which simply put is to follow your idol to a fault. Nothing they do is ever wrong, nothing they say is ever wrong. That is why these type of people are always so irrational in their replies, because their brains arent replying, its their bodies that are. I get more hatemail from hormones than anything else.

Jesse-Wilson- You both went back and used the same computer 5 hrs later to make that point? Really? You expect ANYONE to buy that 4 of you happened to use the same computer, had all the exact same viewpoints, and then 2 of you 5 hrs later decided to post from that same computer again?? Its far more likely this is a computer of 1 person, using multiple names than that extremely implausible scenario.

Hannah- See I can respect that. You understand that the individual might not meet your off screen expectations, but will not let it sway your opinion of the show.
I tend to unfortunately let my interactions sway my support of things.
But I can at least respect those who can like something AND accept the possibility that the person(s) responsible for the product might not be such great people.

Ashley- Glad your encounter went well with him...but, you did hint to the fact, it was at a staged event. As I have stated earlier, even the biggest of jerks can pretend to be nice when money is involved.

Kay (3rd post)- It is natural for you to take the word of people you know over those you dont. Its human nature....of course, history has proven countless times that the majority have been wrong. Ted Bundy, a mass murder, had dozens of people write letters stating "he couldnt be this guy, hes so nice". Not that I am comparing Tom with Ted. I am simply stating, sometimes, the majority is wrong.
A response to Tom not signing to help me profit. Ok, here it is. Its probably partially right...but then explain signing the 8x10 moments later? How about the fact he has downright ignored requests from kids with his poster? If it was JUST pros he was unpleasant with, I wouldnt be so hard on him. But its not. Not signing for pros, but still signing for fans. I can respect that. But not signing for anyone, or worse, just assuming everyone is going to sell, I dont respect that.

It IS a reflection actually...because its happened, on multiple occasions, WITH FANS! Plus, are autogrpah hounds not also fans of things as well?? It is pretty rude of him to ASSUME someone will sell it, just because of their appearance. I have a very large collection of my own...of people I like or respect. Had Tom taken a different path in his earlier days here...he MIGHT be in that collection.
So you personally "know" members of Smallville you say. Interesting, I didnt know they made frequent trips to the town of Brick, NJ. now, if this was a blog about Kirsten Dunst, perhaps your claim would be more valid.
If people make their assumptions only off what a fan would say...they are getting a warped sense of things. I am impartial. There is just as much of a chance of me writing a nice blog about someone as a bad one...it all matters on how they present themselves. No bigger proof of this is the fact, I hated the idea of the Twilight movies before they came here. Yet, I wrote countless positive reviews about the cast, because they earned it.
You might not like what I say, you might even disbelieve it. But that is up to you. All I do, is point out the facts. Not my fault if the facts dont meet YOUR expectation.

now, for the record EVERYONE....There will be another Tom blog coming...less negative...because, well, he earned it.
..and trust me, I am all ready with an artillery of replies to the "I told you so" responses it will get.
