Last years inaugural winner of the Best Stunts awards narrowly defended their award in a pretty remarkable comeback. Arrow wins their 2nd consecutive Best Stunts Award. The team, led by James Bamford and Eli Zagoudakis as the stunt co-ordinators mainly consists of stunt actors Simon Burnett, Atlin Mitchell, Melissa Jin, and many others. Not to mention the shows star Stephen Amell has been known to do some of his own stunts. Arrow wins by 2 votes over Person of Interest, well up from their 9th place finish last year. With less than an hour left, POI had passed Arrow narrowly, then Arrow retook the lead in the last 20 minutes. Definitely the most closely contested award this year. Well back in 3rd was Once Upon A Time in their 1st finals in this category. Game Of Thrones was up 1 spot from last year going from 5th to 4th. The Walking Dead made the finals this year for the first time. New show Daredevil nabbed 6th just ahead of last years 3rd place finalist Lost Girl in 7th. Agents Of SHIELD tumbled along with Lost Girl 4 spots down from the 4th place last year to 8th this year. Hawaii Five-0 dropped from 6th to 9th this year, and The Flash dropped from 7th to 10th.  Photo credit - CBS The 2015 Best Of TV Awards Winner for Best Episode is If-Then-Else "Person Of Interest". This was the 1st time Person of Interest had any episodes in the finals of this category, and lo & behold, If-Then-Else, the 11th episode of their season, and first of 2015, wins. Directed by Chris Fisher, in the episode we find Reese, Finch, Fusco & Root known by its fans as Team Machine heading to the New York Stock Exchange after a crippling attack on it by Samaratan, while their other member Shaw tracks a man on a subway that is considered key to all of whats going on. In a bit of a nod to Groundhog Day, The Machine plays thru various scenarios when the team ends up in trouble to find the best of the bad options they have and takes the viewers on a ride as it plays out each scenario before rewinding right back to the start of their troubles. Shaw ends up in the middle of a suicide attempt on the train & has to deviate from her original plan to assure no one ends up dead. We get a couple of scenes of Root flirting heavily with Shaw in the episode, with Shaw eventually telling Root that "yeah Root, maybe someday". Eventually Shaw makes it to the NYSE just in time to help her team & improve the teams chances. In the end the machine helps the team escape, but they are left with a terrible decision in the end. One of them will have to stay behind to trigger the button to help the elevator they have escaped to to go. Root tries to stop Shaw, before Shaw gives her a big kiss & then pushes her back away from the door as she closes it & goes to the button as Root is left yelling at the cage door. The episode ends with the elevator door closing and the survival of Shaw unknown at the time with Samaratan operative Martine standing over top of Shaw with a gun pointed at her. After last years Win, Arrow nabs 2nd place this year with their mid-season finale "Dark Waters". In 3rd is "Mr & Mrs. Castle" from Castle. The episode "Out Of Time" from The Flash nabbed 4th. "Just My Imagination" from the 3X Winning show Supernatural took 5th. Supernatural also took 6th with the Impala-centric episode "Baby". Newcomer to the finals Outlander took 7th with "The Devils Mark". "Rise" & "End Of Faes" from Lost Girl took 8th and 9th, and the 3rd Supernatural finalist "Brothers Keeper" rounded out the top 10. Shows making the finals for the 1st time include - Agents Of SHIELD, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Daredevil, Galavant, Glee, Hannibal, iZombie, Minority report, Mr. Robot, Orphan Black, Rookie Blue, The Big Bang Theory, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. With 1, 334 votes If-Then-Else sets a new category record for votes, breaking the previous mark of 952 last year by "Arrow" The Secret Origins Of Felicity Smoak. With 377 vote margin of victory, it also sets a new category record, breaking the previous record of 193 from last year. This years Best Couple winner is technically not even a couple.... but met the categories dynamics (something a specific fan base in the opening round had trouble understanding). Samantha Groves, aka Root and another member of Team Machine Sameen Shaw won the Best Couple based off the 1 kiss they shared last year in episode 411 after a lot of suggestions from Root that they should be together, which till that moment Shaw had ignored. While the deranged "couple" still havent found each other since then, the fans of the couple known as "Shoot" (reasonably named considering the duos penchant for guns & just happens to be a combination of Shaw & Root) havent stopped hoping. In 2nd was last years super couple, the 2014 BOTVA winners Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak "Arrow". The popularity of this couple, known as Olicity with a select part of the shows fandom is not in dispute. In 3rd was the 2012 Winners Richard Castle & Kate Beckett "Castle", known as Caskett by their fans. In 4th was Robin Hood & Regina Mills "Once Upon A Time" in their 1st ever finals in this category known as Outlaw Queen with their fandom. Clarke Griffin & Lexa The Commander "The 100" in their 1st ever finals in this category Clexa as they are known by the fans finished 5th. 6th place found the 2011 & 2013 Winners Bo Dennis & Lauren Lewis "Lost Girl" in their 5th consecutive finals. Prince Charming & Snow White "Once Upon A Time" were back for a 3rd time. Snowing made the finals prior in 2011 and 2013. Thea Queen & Roy Harper "Arrow" made the finals for a 2nd consecutive year. Sam Swarek & Andy McNally "Rookie Blue" known as McSwarek by the fans made the finals for the 1st time. Santana Lopez and Brittany Pierce "Glee" known as Brittana to the fans, made the finals in the shows last year of eligibility. Voting for this award saw 4 different leaders over the 1st two days. Clexa, Caskett, Olicity and Shoot all had the lead at different times. Eventually Shoot pulled away in the final couple days. This is the 2nd award (Sexiest Actress) of these BOTVAs for Amy Acker (the actress who plays Root) and 3rd honour (2015 May Madness winner as well). This is the 1st award for Sarah Shahi (actress who plays Shaw). Another win for the car known by its fanbase as "Baby". This caps off a pretty special year for the 1967 Impala, as it had its own episode this year, of course titled "Baby" where the majority of the episode was filmed from inside the car. This marks the 5th consecutive win for The Impala from "Supernatural". Currently tying it (pending award for Best Comedy Program being named) for most consecutive Award Wins with The Big Bang Theory for Best Comedy Program. The German Shepherd known as Bear from "Person of Interest" in its 2nd consecutive finals, finished 2nd & had the lead for the first few days of voting, but eventually was overtaken. In 3rd was The Machine from "Person Of Interest" making its first finals appearance since last being there in 2012. The TARDIS from "Doctor Who" slips 1 spot from their 3rd place finish last year to finish 4th this year in its 2nd finals. The Lazarus Pit "Arrow" makes it to 5th in its first year. The ATOM Suit "Arrow" nabbed 6th in its 1st year, Rumplestiltskins Dagger (probably will be renamed next year since its not REALLY just his) gets 7th in its 3rd year in the finals. The Flash Suit "The Flash" last years runner up finished 8th. A thing I have pointed out year after year to fanbases surely cost Person Of Interest this year a chance to knock off the now 5X champion. Vote splitting. With 2nd & 3rd place going to the show, they had a combined 1163 votes, but have to settle for 2nd & 3rd respectively because of how those votes were doled out amongst their fans. This will not be the only award decided by vote splitting this year. Person Of Interest finds itself in the finals for a 5th consecutive year, 4th time in this category (plus 2011 New Program category), they will try to improve on their all time best 5th place finish & their 2nd in the semi-finals bodes well for that happening. Last years runner up and former 2X category winners Castle are again in the mix with a 3rd place finish in the semis. Hannibal finds themselves back in the finals for a 2nd time, looking to improve on their 7th place finish last year. Criminal Minds stays in the finals, making it an unprecidented 6th finals appearance in this category. Still hoping to get their 1st win, with a 2nd & 3rd in the past few years. Hawaii Five-0 is back for their 5th finals. The Blacklist is in their 2nd straight finals. Rookie Blue is in the finals for a 2nd time, their last appearance was in 2013. Gotham and How To Get Away With Murder find themselves in the finals for the first time in this category. Last year they both made it in the New Program category. Rizzoli And Isles makes the finals for the first time in any category. The Best Action or Drama Actor Category will not have a repeat winner as last years winner Christopher Gorham "Covert Affairs" is not eligible this year. There are two former Winners in the mix though. While the show does have 1 finalist in Curtis Armstrong, it seems like he will certainly have some serious competition this year from others on other shows. A bit of a shocker to me, Bradley James from iZombie led voting in the semi-finals. Ian Anthony Dale from "Hawaii Five-0" was tied for 2nd with Armstrong. Winston Duke from "Person of Interest" a 5th place Guest Star finalist last year, finds himself in the hunt for the Recurring honour this year. Noah Wyle, John Noble, Joshua Jackson and Jon Hamm all find themselves competing in this category this year, all previously were finalists in the main actor categories for completely different shows, in the past. The Best Recurring Actress Category finalists had another minor upset (to me at least) in the semi-finals. Ann Mahoney from "The Walking Dead" a non-factor in round 1 voting where she finished 32nd, led voting this round. Felicia Day from "Supernatural" , the 2013 Winner of this award was 2nd. Alycia Debnam-Carey will have two spots in the finals, one for "The 100" & one for "Fear The Walking Dead". Michelle Borth of "Hawaii Five-0" makes the finals as a Recurring actress this year, after missing out on the finals in the Best Action/Drama Actress category last year. Camren Mannheim led 3 "Person Of Interest" actresses into the finals, along with cara Buono and Annie Ilonzeh. Ksenia Solo, a finalist last year in this category for "Lost Girl" is back with her work on "Orphan Black". Katrina Law, a finalist in this category last year, and caity Lotz, a finalist in the Best Sci-fi/Fantasy Actress category last year represent "Arrow" in the finals this year here. Rachel Nichols "Continuum" makes the finals one last time for her work on the show in its final season, this time in the Recurring category. The Best Guest Star Category was led by the Winner of the Best Action/Drama Actress category last year. Emily Bett Rickards "The Flash" led voting for the same cahracter that won her the most notable actress award last year, this time on a different show. She was also a finalist last year in this category for this very role, finishing 6th. Taraji P. Henson "Person Of Interest" is a finalist for her work with the character that got her a finalist nod in 2013 in the Best Action/Drama Actress field. Travis Aaron Wade, a finalist for Recurring Actor last year is back in the finals as a Guest Star this year for his work on "Supernatural". Another "Suypernatural" finalist is Timothy Omundson, better known as a 3X finalist for Best Comedy Actor for his work on "Psych". Enrico Colantoni "Person of Interest" is back in the finals again after last year being there in the Recurring Actor category. Julian Richings "Supernatural" gets back into the finals after 1st appearing in this categories inagural award in 2011. Lucy Lawless "Agents Of SHIELD" is back in the finals in this category after finishing 3rd in it last year. Stephen Amell "The Flash" also returns after a 7th place finish last year. Grant Gustin "Arrow" also is back after being a finalist last year. Mark Hamill "The Flash" finds himself as a finalist, fresh off his massive 5 second role in Star Wars The Force Awakens. John Noble is a double finalist this year. With his Recurring honour, and his work on "Forever" he gets a spot in this finals too. Ksenia Solo "Lost Girl" is also a double finalist this year. Her Recurring nod, and her Guest Star nod for "Lost Girl", her 5th finals for this show (3 Sci-Fi/Fantasy Actress, 1 Recurring, 1 Guest). Wil Wheaton "The Big Bang Theory" is back as a finalist after being one for his work on the show in 2012. Robert Knepper "Hawaii Five-0" is back for a 2nd time in the Guest Star category, after being nominated last year for "Arrow" and its his 3rd straight year making at least the semi-finals in this category as he did so in 2013 for "The Blacklist" making him the first ever actor nominated in the same category 3 years in a row for 3 different shows. Last years winning show, Arrow notched 5 finalists, despite the maximum 3 rule, due to a tie in the semi-final voting for 3rd place from the show, and nabbing 1 of the spots in the run off late addition voting. Other shows putting in multiple finalists the show with 2 Best Episode awards Supernatural with 4, Castle with 4, Daredevil, Doctor Who, Hannibal, Lost Girl, The Flash, The Walking Dead, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt with 3 Agents Of SHIELD, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, iZombie with 2. There are 8 shows with only 1 finalist, all 8 are 1st time finalists in the category. The Best Director Category will see the two time winner Jensen Ackles having some competition this time from "Arrow" director Lexi Alexander for Beyond Redemption and 2014 semi-finalist "Person of Interest" director Chris Fisher for If-Then-Else. With Hannibal having 3 finalists, Person of Interest, Supernatural and The Walking Dead all having two finalists each, the potential for vote splitting on those shows is going to give the lone Arrow candidate a serious chance to win. The Best Animated Program Category looks again like it will be dominated by The Simpsons. With very few serious contenders in the field, the longest running prime time animated series of all time looks poised to win its 3rd straight award.
