Best Of TV Awards 2014 - Best Episode Winner - THE SECRET ORIGIN OF FELICITY SMOAK "Arrow"1/23/2015 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Episode is.... The Secret Origin Of Felicity Smoak "Arrow"
This years winner for Best Episode is NOT from Supernatural.... seriously. With a new category record 952 votes The Secret Origin Of Felicity Smoak "Arrow" won, beating out the season 2 finale of the same show, Unthinkable by a category record 193 votes. The popularity of the Felicity Smoak character might not be any more apparent than by this win. Simply having her name in the title seemed to be enough for her fans to vote for it despite it clearly not being the best of its own show from the last year. The episode featured the secondary characters backstory about her early day sof her computer hacking and cleverly tied in a current day story related to her past to make it fit. The runner up was another Arrow episode Unthinkable. The season 2 finale. Perhaps if it was titled "Felicity Smoak's Unthinkable" it would have won instead as it had the lead for a couple days in the middle of the voting. In 3rd was Veritas from "Castle" which led in voting early on till Arrow fans rallied behind their episodes. Rounding out the top 10 were Like Hell Part 1 "Lost Girl" which was from the "late addition" vote in. Dark Horse "Lost Girl" was 5th. Fan Fiction from "Supernatural" was the highest any SPN episode faired at 6th, Waves "Lost Girl" was 7th, Once Upon A Time In The West "Castle" was 8th, the Arrow/Flash cross over episode for "Arrow" The Brave & The Bold, came in 9th. Rounding out the top 10 was Streets Of Fire from "Arrow". In my analysis of the semi-final voting I really felt Supernatural, Arrow, Lost Girl & Castle would struggle to win because of vote splitting, yet those shows dominated the entire top 10 list. Only THREE of the top 20 The Flash VS Arrow "The Flash" in 11th, Theres No Place Like Home "Once Upon A Time" & What Lies Buried "Murdoch Mysteries" were the only entries from their shows. 1st THE SECRET ORIGIN OF FELICITY SMOAK "Arrow" 952 2nd UNTHINKABLE "Arrow" 759 3rd VERITAS "Castle" 655 4th Like Hell part 1 "Lost Girl" 531 5th Dark Horse "Lost Girl" 499 6th Fan Fiction "Supernatural" 483 7th Waves "Lost Girl" 479 8th Once Upon A Time In The West "Castle" 462 9th The Brave & The Bold "Arrow" 354 10th Streets Of Fire "Arrow" 328 11th Flash VS Arrow "The Flash" 323 12th End Of A Line "Lost Girl" 233 13th Origin "Lost Girl" 228 14th Theres No Place Like Home "Once Upon A Time" 222 15th That 70s Show "Castle" 199 16th Soul Survivor "Supernatural" 181 17th No Sanctuary "The Walking Dead" 170 18th Do You Believe In Miracles "Supernatural" 168 19th First Born "Supernatural" 153 20th What Lies Buried "Murdoch Mysteries" 145 21st The Sign Of Three "Sherlock" 130 22nd Listen "Doctor Who" 124 23rd Kill Switch "Castle" 107 24th The Empty Hearse "Sherlock" 106 25th Girls, Girls, Girls "Supernatural" 104 26th The Lion And The Rose "Game Of Thrones" 103 27th Seeing Red "Arrow" 84 28th Deep Breath "Doctor Who" 80 29th Paper Moon "Supernatural" 49 30th Mothers Little Helper "Supernatural" 47

Arrow has 2 of the top 3, including John Behring for "Unthinkable" as the top vote getter, narrowly beating out 2012 winner Jensen Ackles for "Soul Survivor" on Supernatural. Douglas Aarniokoski on "Seeing Red" rounds out the bookends of the Arrow Supernatural Arrow trio. Amanda Tapping managed 2 finalist spots with her 2 part Continuum episodes. Besides 2012 winner Ackles, Pamela Fryman "How Your Mother Met Me" is the only other previous contender for Best Director, making the semi-finals last year. Last years winning show Glee, had no finalists this year as their 2 semi-finalist contenders did not advance. The Best Episode category, aka - "favorite Supernatural episode" in the years past could be a hard one to predict. Supernatural is well represented in the finals. SEVEN finalists for the 3X Winning show, Arrow and Lost Girl managed 5, while Castle has 4. While it would SEEM to be a safe bet with Arrow & Supernatural dominating the top 8 spots that they are a shoe in to win, theres then the fact that in the finals the amount of challengers you can vote for will be limited to 2 or 3. Vote splitting is always a problem when a show shoves too many of its challengers into a finals. Perhaps The Flash or Murdoch Mysteries with their 1 singular nominee will win because their fans will not be split on who to vote for. Also, an error occurred in listing for a couple days of this category. One of the Arrow finalists, The Secret Origins Of Felicity Smoak was mistakenly listed as Draw Back Your Bow for awhile, so if you voted for DBYB & wonder where it is.... is was changed to TSOOFS during the round after the error was noticed. The Finals for these categories will take place in January 2015 HERE The 2014 Best Of TV Awards opening round is winding down as the last group of the record 27categories is currently being voted on by you, the fans HERE. With 23 of the categories already wrapped... here is the results from several of the categories. Best Episode, Director, Non-Human Character or Prop, Youth Actor & Actress category results below. Names BOLDED are moving on to the semi-finals which start next week. Just a reminder, the next 2 rounds is NOT unlimited voting & there is no more write in/nominations. If your favorite did not get selected in round 1, sorry. There was a month of nominations and a few days of voting to have nominated them enough to get in. Lots of originally non-nominated challengers are in the semi-finals. Write In Vote campaigns in Best. For the 3rd year in a row "Supernatural" wins the Best Episode award, for the 2nd year in a row, it was a season finale episode. Sacrifice (also the name of the runner up episode, also a season finale, which aired the same night on the same channel.) which was the season 8 finale for Supernatural saw the Winchesters favorite angel Castiel mistakenly got all the angels cast out of heaven & down to earth. The episode bulldozed its competition in the last couple days & went on to win with 426 votes. Runner up, the "Arrow" season finale, also titled Sacrifice, nabbed 376 votes. In 3rd the "Continuum" season 2 finale Sacrifi... no, just kidding, it was titled Second Time, it nabbed 338 votes to narrowly take 3rd. Dark Hollow "Once Upon A Time" was 4th, The Rains Of Castamere "Game Of Thromes" was 5th. LARP And The Real Girl "Supernatural" was 6th. Holy Terror "Supernatural" was 7th. An Enemy Of Fate "Fringe" was 8th. As Time Goes By "Supernatural" was 9th. Fallout "Haven" was 10th. Day 1 saw 2 different Supernatural episodes with the lead Holy Terror & Sacrifice, as well as the Arrow season finale Sacrifice & the Fringe series finale An Enemy Of Fate & the Game Of Thrones Rains Of Castamere. Day 2 to 5 was led by Sacrifice from Arrow. Day 6 to the end was led by Sacrifice from Supernatural. RESULTS 1st Sacrifice (Supernatural) 426 2nd Sacrifice (Arrow) 376 3rd Second Time (Continuum) 338 4th Dark Hollow (Once Upon A Time) 334 5th The Rains Of Castamere (Game Of Thrones) 309 6th LARP And The Real Girl (Supernatural) 273 7th Holy Terror (Supernatural) 254 8th An Enemy Of Fate (Fringe) 206 9th As Time Goes By (Supernatural) 187 10th Fallout (Haven) 179 The Best Guest Star category has a few familiar faces in it...from other categories. Best Guest Star category was led by someone that was a finalist for Best Recurring Actor last year, "Supernatural" star Ty Olsson with 241 votes. Only 2 votes behind was "Arrow" guest star Grant Gustin. In 3rd was "King & Maxwell" guest star Christian Kane only 6 votes back at 235 votes. David Richmond-Peck "Lost Girl" 25 votes back. The Best Episode category has a LOT of Supernatural contenders in the final, as the 2X defending champion show in this category looks to 3-peat. Of course, will vote splitting be their downfall, like happens so often when a fanbase nominates too many finalists? Leading semi-final vote getter was from "Continuum" Second Time, with 450 votes. Fairly well back in 2nd was "Once Upon A Time" Dark Hollow, with 278 votes. Then it was some "Supernatural" episodes. Sacrifice with 253 votes was 3rd. More categories, including this one start today. Voting on the finals happens HERE The Sci-fi and Fantasy categories are often some of the most voted on, but its usually with clear run away winners in each one. This year, looks like that wont be happening. The Sci-fi/fantasy program category, which last year was dominated by The Walking Dead after the shows star Norman Reedus told fans to vote, seems to have some real competition this year. Lost Girl lead round 1 voting with 8941 votes. Continuum was 2nd & for most of the time till the last few hours, was continually leapfrogging LG for 1st. Haven rounded out the top 3 not too far behind either. Rounding out the top 5, the 2010 & 2011 winner Supernatural & 2011 New Show winner Once Upon A Time. The rest of the semi-finalists include Doctor Who, 2012 Winner The Walking Dead, Fringe, Game Of Thrones, Warehouse 13, Falling Skies, The Vampire Diaries, Grimm, Teen Wolf & Primeval New World. Robert Carlyle "Once Upon A Time" had a dominating 16,588 1st round votes for a commanding lead. Well back, with 5817 was Misha Collins "Supernatural", rounding out the top 3 was Michael Raymond James "Once Upon A Time" The top 5 is filled out with 2011 winner & 2010 Best Actor winner Jensen Ackles "Supernatura; & Victor Webster "Continuum". Rounding out the top 3 was Emilie de Ravin "Once Upon A Time" The rest of the top 5 had another Lost Girl star, Anna Silk, and Continuum star, Jennifer Spence. There will be a second vote that will be happening in the upcoming weeks to give late season episodes/guest stars a chance to make the finals as voting for these categories closed well before mid-season finales aired. These categories will be the last categories voted on this round, after the secondary vote has taken place, those votes will garner 1 to 5 semi-finalists. Till those categories are officially done, here is CURRENT list of semi-finalists for these categories. Best Episode. With much, much more competition this year, the 2 time winners of the award, Supernatural will be in for a fight this year to three-peat. But with FOUR semi-finalists, they will have lots of horses in the race. Leading vote getter in round 1 "Second Time" (Continuum) with 1578 votes. "Dark Hollow" (Once Upon A Time) was 2nd & "Sacrifice" (Supernatural) was 3rd. The top 5 was rounded out by "Fallout" (Haven) & "LARP And The Real Girl" (Supernatural) The rest of the semi-finalists include "As Time Goes By" & "Devil May Care" (Supernatural), "Sacrifice", "Crucible" (Arrow), "The Quarterback" (Glee), "Get Behind The Mule", "The Game", "Searchers", "One Less Mule" (Hell On Wheels), "Time Will Tell" (Castle), "The Replicator" (Criminal Minds), "The Rains Of Castemere" (Game Of Thrones), "Six Minutes", "Try" (The Killing), "PS I Love You" (How I Met Your Mother), "Heroine" (Elementary), "No Country For Two Old Men", "Right Turn Or Left For Dead" (Psych) & "An Enemy Of Fate" (Fringe) As stated, another 1 to 5 will be added to this list once the "late additions" vote happens. When the secondary vote happens, important to remember, ONLY shows who aired AFTER November 17, 2013 will be eligible. The Guest Star Category is also going to be having a secondary vote, but the 1st round of voting is over & here are the current semi-finalists. Christian JKane "King & Maxwell" took the top vote total in round 1 with 4593 votes. Second was "Supernatural" 2012 recurring finalist Ty Olsson, 3rd was Robert Knepper "The Blacklist" Rounding out the top 5. 2012 Recurring Actress winner Rachel Miner "Supernatural", David Richmond-Peck "Lost Girl" The rest of the semi-finalists currently are. Just like that vote, only nominees in episodes AFTER November 17, 2013 will be eligible. Voting on some Round 2 categories starts TODAY! The 4th annual "Best Of TV Awards" will be taking place soon, but first, we need to know who you think should be nominated.
