Also largest margin of victory with 300, previous record was 218 by Supernatural in 2012 Last years runner up, grabbed the same honour this year. Lost Girl finished 2nd with 971 votes, marking the 2nd highest vote total of a show in the 3 years of this award. The former champion Supernatural rounds out the top 3 with 684 votes. Continual contender Castle finished 4th for its 2nd time in the 3 years of the award, improving on its 6th place from last year. Orphan Black nabbed 5th, a sharp increase from its 10th place finish last year. Once Upon A Time finished 6th, just downf rom last years 5th place finish. The Walking Dead in 9th is an improvement on last years 13th, but still down from the 1st year when it finished 6th. Game Of Thrones in 10th slips a bit from its 7th place spot last year. The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Guest Star is.... Osric Chau "Supernatural"
For the 3rd consecutive year a Supernatural Guest Star wins this award. Osric Chau, the 2013 Recurring Actor Award winner nabs the 2014 honour for Best Guest Star. Only a 31 vote margin of victory over another SPN familiar face, Kim Rhodes in 2nd, Rhodes held the lead several times as her and Chau leapfrogged each other a few times in the last 3 days before Chau took enough of a lead to not be caught. This is the smallest margin of victory in this category to date. In 3rd was "Agent Of SHIELD" guest Star Lucy Lawless. Another Supernatural guest star, Rob Benedict nabbed 4th ahead of Person of Interest guest star Winston Duke in 5th, Duke held the lead for much of the 1st two days of voting before slowing down considerably. Shockingly, considering the dominance she has had in all her other categories so far this year, Emily Bett Rickards finished a mediocre 6th in the guest star category for her spot on "The Flash" just ahead of Stephen Amell for the same episode. In 8th was "Once Upon A Time" guest star Rose McGowanjust ahead of 9th place Cliff Simon from "Castle" and rounding out the top 10 was a rare 3 way tie with Colin O'Donnell "Arrow", Hugh Dillon "Continuum" & Bob Newhart "The Big Bang Theory" all tying for the spot. Deon Richmond "Psych" nabbed 13th ahead of Natalie Dormer "Elementary" in 14th. Grant Gustin "Arrow" took 15th ahead of Robert Knepper 16th, Michael Rowe 17th & Charlotte Ross back in 18th also all from "Arrow. 1st OSRIC CHAU "Supernatural" 433 2nd KIM RHODES "Supernatural" 402 3rd LUCY LAWLESS "Agents Of SHIELD" 304 4th Rob Benedict "Supernatural" 259 5th Winston Duke "Person of Interest" 224 6th Emily Bett Rickards "The Flash" 194 7th Stephen Amell "The Flash" 103 8th Rose McGowan "Once Upon A Time" 87 9th Cliff Simon "Castle" 82 10th (tie) Colin Donnell "Arrow" 79 10th (tie) Hugh Dillon "Continuum" 79 10th (10th) Bob Newhart "The Big Bang Theory" 79 13th Deon Richmond "Psych" 65 14th Natalie Dormer "Elementary" 63 15th Grant Gustin "Arrow" 58 16th Robert Knepper "Arrow" 55 17th Michael Rowe "Arrow" 41 18th Charlotte Ross "Arrow" 29 Best Of TV Awards 2014 - Best Episode Winner - THE SECRET ORIGIN OF FELICITY SMOAK "Arrow"1/23/2015 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Episode is.... The Secret Origin Of Felicity Smoak "Arrow"
This years winner for Best Episode is NOT from Supernatural.... seriously. With a new category record 952 votes The Secret Origin Of Felicity Smoak "Arrow" won, beating out the season 2 finale of the same show, Unthinkable by a category record 193 votes. The popularity of the Felicity Smoak character might not be any more apparent than by this win. Simply having her name in the title seemed to be enough for her fans to vote for it despite it clearly not being the best of its own show from the last year. The episode featured the secondary characters backstory about her early day sof her computer hacking and cleverly tied in a current day story related to her past to make it fit. The runner up was another Arrow episode Unthinkable. The season 2 finale. Perhaps if it was titled "Felicity Smoak's Unthinkable" it would have won instead as it had the lead for a couple days in the middle of the voting. In 3rd was Veritas from "Castle" which led in voting early on till Arrow fans rallied behind their episodes. Rounding out the top 10 were Like Hell Part 1 "Lost Girl" which was from the "late addition" vote in. Dark Horse "Lost Girl" was 5th. Fan Fiction from "Supernatural" was the highest any SPN episode faired at 6th, Waves "Lost Girl" was 7th, Once Upon A Time In The West "Castle" was 8th, the Arrow/Flash cross over episode for "Arrow" The Brave & The Bold, came in 9th. Rounding out the top 10 was Streets Of Fire from "Arrow". In my analysis of the semi-final voting I really felt Supernatural, Arrow, Lost Girl & Castle would struggle to win because of vote splitting, yet those shows dominated the entire top 10 list. Only THREE of the top 20 The Flash VS Arrow "The Flash" in 11th, Theres No Place Like Home "Once Upon A Time" & What Lies Buried "Murdoch Mysteries" were the only entries from their shows. 1st THE SECRET ORIGIN OF FELICITY SMOAK "Arrow" 952 2nd UNTHINKABLE "Arrow" 759 3rd VERITAS "Castle" 655 4th Like Hell part 1 "Lost Girl" 531 5th Dark Horse "Lost Girl" 499 6th Fan Fiction "Supernatural" 483 7th Waves "Lost Girl" 479 8th Once Upon A Time In The West "Castle" 462 9th The Brave & The Bold "Arrow" 354 10th Streets Of Fire "Arrow" 328 11th Flash VS Arrow "The Flash" 323 12th End Of A Line "Lost Girl" 233 13th Origin "Lost Girl" 228 14th Theres No Place Like Home "Once Upon A Time" 222 15th That 70s Show "Castle" 199 16th Soul Survivor "Supernatural" 181 17th No Sanctuary "The Walking Dead" 170 18th Do You Believe In Miracles "Supernatural" 168 19th First Born "Supernatural" 153 20th What Lies Buried "Murdoch Mysteries" 145 21st The Sign Of Three "Sherlock" 130 22nd Listen "Doctor Who" 124 23rd Kill Switch "Castle" 107 24th The Empty Hearse "Sherlock" 106 25th Girls, Girls, Girls "Supernatural" 104 26th The Lion And The Rose "Game Of Thrones" 103 27th Seeing Red "Arrow" 84 28th Deep Breath "Doctor Who" 80 29th Paper Moon "Supernatural" 49 30th Mothers Little Helper "Supernatural" 47 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Writing is.... Arrow
Congratulations on the inagural winner of the Best Writing award, Arrow. With 1,206 votes the show handily beat its competitors. Runner up was Lost Girl with 724 votes, in 3rd was Castle with 686. Both of which early on had the leads in voting before Arrow took over & never looked back. The writing team for Arrow has many people on it, but the main writers are Marc Guggenheim, Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg. In 4th was Supernatural, just ahead of Hannibal in 5th, another NBC show The Blacklist finished 10th. British shows made an impact on the list with Sherlock in 6th & Doctor Who in 11th. Netflix garnered a finalist, Orange Is The New Black was 7th. Cable giants HBO & AMC had their respective hits Game Of Thrones in 8th & The Walking Dead 9th on the list. The Big Bang Theory was the only network comedy to makethe finals finishing 12th. 1st ARROW (CW) 1,206 2nd LOST GIRL (Showcase) 724 3rd CASTLE (ABC) 686 4th Supernatural (CW) 555 5th Hannibal (NBC) 545 6th Sherlock (BBC One) 260 7th Orange Is The New Black (Netflix) 211 8th Game Of Thrones (HBO) 189 9th The Walking Dead (AMC) 144 10th The Blacklist (NBC) 130 11th Doctor Who (BBC One) 122 12th The Big Bang Theory (CBS) 118 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Couple is.... Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak "Arrow"
I suppose the characters played by this years Sexiest Actor & Actress Winners seemed like a safe bet for the Best Couple category. Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak from "Arrow" or as theya re more known by their fans "Olicity" win this years Best Couple. Beating out the 2X champions from "Lost Girl" Lauren Lewis & Bo Dennis & the 2013 Winners Richard Castle & Kate Beckett from "Castle" With 1,745 Olicity sets a new record for votes in this category i the finals, breaking the old mark of 1,350 by last years winners Lauren & Bo. The 482 vote margin of victory also is a new record, breaing last years mark of 266. Olicity had the lead in voting from the beginning of voting & never relinquished it. The couple known as Doccubus from "Lost Girl" Lauren & Bo came in 2nd with a total of 1,263. Which was well ahead of the 2012 Champions Richard & Kate (Caskett) from "Castle" in 3rd. Well back in 4th was Captain Hook & Emma Swan (Captain Swan) from "Once Upon A Time" with 308 votes. Last year 2 OUAT couples made the finals, this year neither of them were back, seemingly being replaced by CaptainSwan. In 5th is another Lost Girl duo, Kenzi & Hale Santiago. In 6th was last years 3rd place finalists Kurt Hummel & Blaine Anderson (Klaine) from "Glee". In 7th, up 2 spots from last year is "The Vampire Diaries" couple of Damon Salvatore & Elena Gilbert (Delena). In 8th was Steve McGarrett & Catherine Rollins from "Hawaii Five-O". In 9th is the odd cross-over couple of Barry Allen & Felicity Smoak (Barricity) "The Flash", making Felicity Smoak the 1st ever character in the finals for 2 different shows. In 10th is Thea Queen & Roy Harper from "Arrow". 1st OLIVER QUEEN & FELICITY SMOAK (Olicity) "Arrow" 1,745 2nd LAUREN LEWIS & BO DENNIS (Doccubus) "Lost Girl" 1,263 3rd RICHARD CASTLE & KATE BECKETT (Caskett) "Castle" 918 4th Emma Swan & Captain Hook (Captain Swan) "Once Upon A Time" 308 5th Kenzi & Hale Santiago "Lost Girl" 231 6th Kurt Hummel & Blaine Anderson (Klaine) "Glee" 204 7th Damon Salvatore & Elena Gilbert (Delena) "The Vampire Diaries) 195 8th Steve McGarrett & Catherine Rollins "Hawaii Five-0" 139 9th Barry Allen & Felicity Smoak (Barricity) "The Flash" 94 10th Thea Queen & Roy Harper "Arrow" 52 The 2014 Best Of TV Awards Semi-Finals are now Closed. The Finals for the 5th annual BOTVA's will begin in early 2015. But 1st we need candidates to compete in the finals. The results below are for the categories of Best Action or Drama Actor, Actress & Program Best Action or Drama Actor STEPHEN AMELL (Arrow) 633 CHRISTOPHER GORHAM (Covert Affairs) 403 JOHN BARROWMAN (Arrow) 399 MADS MIKKELSEN (Hannibal) 390 NATHAN FILLION (Castle) 361 ALEX O'LOUGHLIN 228 (Hawaii Five-O) 228 HUGH DANCY (Hannibal) 199 PAUL BLACKTHORNE(Arrow) 189 COLTON HAYNES (Arrow) 187 YANNICK BISSON (Murdoch Mysteries) 177 JAMES SPADER (The Blacklist) 150 BEN MCKENZIE (Gotham) 137 JON HUERTAS (Castle) 126, JOHNNY LEE MILLER (Elementary) 119, MATTHEW GRAY GUBLER (Criminal Minds) 116, JIM CAVIEZEL (Person Of Interest) 115, SHEMAR MOORE (Criminal Minds) 112, DAVID TENNANT (Gracepoint) 102, PATRICK DEMPSEY (Grey's Anatomy) 96, ALLAN HAWCO (Republic Of Doyle) 50 Best Action or Drama Actress EMILY BETT RICKARDS (Arrow) 648 STANA KATIC (Castle) 376 SUSANNA THOMPSON (Arrow) 254 CAITY LOTZ (Arrow) 178 WILLA HOLLAND (Arrow) 174 LUCY LIU (Elementary) 173 PAULEY PERRETTE (NCIS) 168 GRACE PARK (Hawaii Five-O) 165 MAGGIE SMITH (Downton Abbey) 154 HELENE JOY (Murdoch Mysteries) 144 AMY ACKER (Person Of Interest) 136 KATIE CASSIDY (Arrow) 133 MOLLY QUINN (Castle) 128, MARISKA HARTIGAY "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) 117, MEGAN BOONE (The Blacklist) 107, ELLEN POMPEO (Grey's Anatomy) 99, KERRY WASHINGTON (Scandal) 93, VERA FARMIGA (Bates Motel) 90, GEORGINA REILLY (Murdoch Mysteries) 67, ERICA DURANCE (Saving Hope) 54, KRYSTIN PELLERIN (Republic Of Doyle) 37, MONICA POTTER (Parenthood) 35 Best Action or Drama Program

This year, those same top 3 finalists from last year are back & in the serious mix for this years honour. Joining them are 1st time finalist Christopher Gorham from Covert Affairs who finished 2nd to Stephen Amell from Arrow for the semi-final vote, and Mads Mikkelsen from hannibal, who finished 4th, a spot higher than he finished in the finals of last years vote. While the top 5 from last year all made the finals this year, the bottom half of last years top 10 was not so lucky, only 7th place James Spader from The Blacklist & 10th place Hugh Dancy from hannibal is returning. Ousted were Johnny Lee Miller of Elementary, Matthew Gray Gubler from Criminal Minds and Jim Caviezel from Person of Interest. New to the party besides Gorham are, Paul Blackthorne and Colton Haynes from Arrow, giving them FOUR finalists. Yannick Bisson from Murdoch Mysteries, and Ben McKenzie from the rookie drama Gotham. The Best Action Or Drama Actress category has been the "Stana Katic Award" since its inception in 2011 as the actress from Castle has won all 3 times, making her the only actor or actress to win her award every year since its existence. But this year, it might not go her way if Emily Bett Rickards from Arrow has any say in it. The leading vote getting in the semi-finals had more than Katic & 3rd place fellow Arrow cast member Susanna Thompson combined. Three more Arrow cast made the finals with Caity Lotz in 4th, Willa Holland in 5th & Katie Cassidy in 12th, giving Arrow FIVE finalists. Surely vote splitting will be a major concern for the finalists there, giving Katic a bit of a chance still as she was the only finalist from Castle with Molly Quinn just missing out by 5 votes. Despite the seemingly lopsided rrow & Stana Katic race, there are other contenders. Lucy Liu from Elementary finished 3rd last year in the finals to Katic & Rickards, and comes in this year in 6th in the semi-finals. Amy Acker of Person Of Interest was also a finalist last year, finishing 5th and narrowly made it in this year in 11th. Grace Park finished 6th last year & finished 8th in this years semi-finals. Other newcomers besides the 4 newcomers from Arrow include Pauley Perrette from NCIS, Maggie Smith from Downton Abbey and Helene Joy from Murdoch Mysteries. Two finalists from last year Ellen Pompeo from Grey's Anatomy & Kerry Washington from Scandal failed to make the finals this year, along with Celina Jade from Arrow & Taraji P. Henson from Person Of Interest who are no longer eligible. The Best Action or Drama Program category will again look like a fight between the defending champion Arrow & the former 2 time champion Castle. Perennial contender Criminal Minds finished 3rd last year and finished 8th in the semi-final voting to make it 5 consecutive years in the finals, the ONLY Drama to have done so. Last years New Program runner up Hannibal finished 3rd in the semi-final vote, cementing itself as a contender this year. In 4th is 1st time finalist Covert Affairs. Joining Covert Affairs on the 1st time finalist list is Sherlock, Murdoch Mysteries & The Blacklist. Only 5 of last years finalists made it to the finals this year. Missing the mark this time were retired Breaking Bad, along with Rookie Blue, Elementary, Grey's Anatomy & The Mentalist. The Finals for these categories will take place in January 2015 HERE The 2014 Best Of TV Awards Semi-Finals are now Closed. The Finals for the 5th annual BOTVA's will begin in early 2015. It should also be noted that finalist Outlander led the opening round, and has won several other online polls in the last year of note. Despite their mediocre finish in the semi-finals heare, a win cant be ruled out for this internet phenomenon. Of course How To Get Away With Murder & Gotham will also do their best to rally more fans for the finals. The Finals for these categories will take place in January 2015 HERE |
