The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Favorite TV Program is.... Arrow
After back-to-back wins for another CW show "Supernatural" the network wins again, this time with their 3rd crime fighting vigilante show "Arrow". With 1271 votes, Arrow set a new record for most votes in the category, previously held by Supernatural in 2012 with 706 . Also largest margin of victory with 300, previous record was 218 by Supernatural in 2012 Last years runner up, grabbed the same honour this year. Lost Girl finished 2nd with 971 votes, marking the 2nd highest vote total of a show in the 3 years of this award. The former champion Supernatural rounds out the top 3 with 684 votes. Continual contender Castle finished 4th for its 2nd time in the 3 years of the award, improving on its 6th place from last year. Orphan Black nabbed 5th, a sharp increase from its 10th place finish last year. Once Upon A Time finished 6th, just downf rom last years 5th place finish. The Walking Dead in 9th is an improvement on last years 13th, but still down from the 1st year when it finished 6th. Game Of Thrones in 10th slips a bit from its 7th place spot last year. Doctor Who finished 11th, a sharp drop from the 4th place finish the show had last year. The Big Bang Theory finishes 15th after being 9th last year. Newcomers to the finals, Sherlock came in 7th, Murdoch Mysteries was 8th, The Flash finished 12th in its rookie year, Orange Is The New Black finishes 13th, Agents Of SHIELD was 14th. 1st ARROW 1271 *New Record* 2nd LOST GIRL 971 3rd SUPERNATURAL 684 4th Castle 661 5th Orphan Black 314 6th Once Upon A Time 233 7th Sherlock 147 8th Murdoch Mysteries 139 9th The Walking Dead 119 10th Game Of Thrones 105 11th Doctor Who 94 12th The Flash 94 13th Orange Is The New Black 99 14th Agents Of SHIELD 74 15th The Big Bang Theory 61

Best Of TV Awards 2014 - Best Episode Winner - THE SECRET ORIGIN OF FELICITY SMOAK "Arrow"1/23/2015 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Episode is.... The Secret Origin Of Felicity Smoak "Arrow"
This years winner for Best Episode is NOT from Supernatural.... seriously. With a new category record 952 votes The Secret Origin Of Felicity Smoak "Arrow" won, beating out the season 2 finale of the same show, Unthinkable by a category record 193 votes. The popularity of the Felicity Smoak character might not be any more apparent than by this win. Simply having her name in the title seemed to be enough for her fans to vote for it despite it clearly not being the best of its own show from the last year. The episode featured the secondary characters backstory about her early day sof her computer hacking and cleverly tied in a current day story related to her past to make it fit. The runner up was another Arrow episode Unthinkable. The season 2 finale. Perhaps if it was titled "Felicity Smoak's Unthinkable" it would have won instead as it had the lead for a couple days in the middle of the voting. In 3rd was Veritas from "Castle" which led in voting early on till Arrow fans rallied behind their episodes. Rounding out the top 10 were Like Hell Part 1 "Lost Girl" which was from the "late addition" vote in. Dark Horse "Lost Girl" was 5th. Fan Fiction from "Supernatural" was the highest any SPN episode faired at 6th, Waves "Lost Girl" was 7th, Once Upon A Time In The West "Castle" was 8th, the Arrow/Flash cross over episode for "Arrow" The Brave & The Bold, came in 9th. Rounding out the top 10 was Streets Of Fire from "Arrow". In my analysis of the semi-final voting I really felt Supernatural, Arrow, Lost Girl & Castle would struggle to win because of vote splitting, yet those shows dominated the entire top 10 list. Only THREE of the top 20 The Flash VS Arrow "The Flash" in 11th, Theres No Place Like Home "Once Upon A Time" & What Lies Buried "Murdoch Mysteries" were the only entries from their shows. 1st THE SECRET ORIGIN OF FELICITY SMOAK "Arrow" 952 2nd UNTHINKABLE "Arrow" 759 3rd VERITAS "Castle" 655 4th Like Hell part 1 "Lost Girl" 531 5th Dark Horse "Lost Girl" 499 6th Fan Fiction "Supernatural" 483 7th Waves "Lost Girl" 479 8th Once Upon A Time In The West "Castle" 462 9th The Brave & The Bold "Arrow" 354 10th Streets Of Fire "Arrow" 328 11th Flash VS Arrow "The Flash" 323 12th End Of A Line "Lost Girl" 233 13th Origin "Lost Girl" 228 14th Theres No Place Like Home "Once Upon A Time" 222 15th That 70s Show "Castle" 199 16th Soul Survivor "Supernatural" 181 17th No Sanctuary "The Walking Dead" 170 18th Do You Believe In Miracles "Supernatural" 168 19th First Born "Supernatural" 153 20th What Lies Buried "Murdoch Mysteries" 145 21st The Sign Of Three "Sherlock" 130 22nd Listen "Doctor Who" 124 23rd Kill Switch "Castle" 107 24th The Empty Hearse "Sherlock" 106 25th Girls, Girls, Girls "Supernatural" 104 26th The Lion And The Rose "Game Of Thrones" 103 27th Seeing Red "Arrow" 84 28th Deep Breath "Doctor Who" 80 29th Paper Moon "Supernatural" 49 30th Mothers Little Helper "Supernatural" 47 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Writing is.... Arrow
Congratulations on the inagural winner of the Best Writing award, Arrow. With 1,206 votes the show handily beat its competitors. Runner up was Lost Girl with 724 votes, in 3rd was Castle with 686. Both of which early on had the leads in voting before Arrow took over & never looked back. The writing team for Arrow has many people on it, but the main writers are Marc Guggenheim, Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg. In 4th was Supernatural, just ahead of Hannibal in 5th, another NBC show The Blacklist finished 10th. British shows made an impact on the list with Sherlock in 6th & Doctor Who in 11th. Netflix garnered a finalist, Orange Is The New Black was 7th. Cable giants HBO & AMC had their respective hits Game Of Thrones in 8th & The Walking Dead 9th on the list. The Big Bang Theory was the only network comedy to makethe finals finishing 12th. 1st ARROW (CW) 1,206 2nd LOST GIRL (Showcase) 724 3rd CASTLE (ABC) 686 4th Supernatural (CW) 555 5th Hannibal (NBC) 545 6th Sherlock (BBC One) 260 7th Orange Is The New Black (Netflix) 211 8th Game Of Thrones (HBO) 189 9th The Walking Dead (AMC) 144 10th The Blacklist (NBC) 130 11th Doctor Who (BBC One) 122 12th The Big Bang Theory (CBS) 118 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Stunts is.... Arrow
The inagural Best Stunts award goes to "Arrow" from The CW. For a show where jumping off roof tops, motorbike chases while shooting arrows & 3 or more person fight sequences is pretty much the norm, it really is no shocker that Arrow was the winner. Early on in voting (day 1) Agents Of SHIELD & Hawaii Five-0 both held short leads before Arrow took over the lead & never looked back. The Arrow stunt team consists of many people in front of & behind the scenes, but of note James Bamford the stunt co-ordinator, Simon Burnett, Curtis Braconnier and Atlin Mitchell as the primary stunt team are responsible for much of what you see on the screen every week. Runner up was Lost Girl. In 3rd was Supernatural. Well back in 4th was Agents Of SHIELD, 5th was Game Of Thrones. Despite a hot start, Hawaii Five-O finished well back in 6th, just ahead of The Flash which went from last to 7th in the last 48 hrs of voting. The Blacklist came in 8th, Person of Interest was 9th & Doctor Who rounded out the finalists in 10th. 1st ARROW (CW) 1,687 2nd LOST GIRL (Showcase) 985 3rd SUPERNATURAL (CW) 718 4th Agents Of SHIELD (ABC) 344 5th Game Of Thrones (HBO) 278 6th Hawaii Five-0 (CBS) 158 7th The Flash (CW) 136 8th The Blacklist (NBC) 130 9th Person of Interest (CBS) 107 10th Doctor Who (BBC One) 78 Best Of TV Awards 2014 - Best Non-Human Character or Prop Winner - THE IMPALA "Supernatural"1/21/2015 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Non-Human Character or Prop is.... The Impala "Supernatural"
A rare feat in the awards now is to be the only winner of an award. The Impala from "Supernatural" has managed to do just that for 4 consecutive years now. Winning this category with 1087 votes, it wasnt a sure thing for the champion. The Flash Suit from "The Flash" made it closer than the car known by its fans as"Baby" is used to, with 893, almost 300 of those votes were in the last 48 hrs... if it had started its rally maybe a day earlier...who knows. In 3rd was The TARDIS from "Doctor Who" which for a couple days, was actually leading the vote, and was also the semi-final vote leader, it ended with 752 votes. In 4th was last years runner up Rumplestiltskin's Dagger "Once Upon A Time" finishing with 466 votes. The dog known as Bear on "Person of Interest" finished 5th with 308. Daryl's Crossbow "The Walking Dead" was 6th with 253, and Michonne's Katana also from "The Walking Dead" was 7th with 205. The Sonic Screwdriver from "Doctor Who" syphoned off 122 votes from the Whovians to finish 8th. 1st THE IMPALA "SUPERNATURAL" 1087 2nd THE FLASH SUIT "THE FLASH" 893 3RD THE TARDIS "DOCTOR WHO" 752 4th Rumplestiltskins Dagger "Once Upon A Time" 466 5th Bear "Person Of Interest" 308 6th Daryl's Crossbow "The Walking Dead" 253 7th Michonnes Katana "The Walking Dead' 205 8th Sonic Screwdriver "Doctor Who" 122 The 2014 Best Of TV Awards Semi-Finals are now Closed. This year he looks poised for another victory barring another Norman Reedus tweet style like in 2012 from 1 of the challengers. This year, the main challenger appears to be rookie sci-fi or fantasy drama star Grant Gustin from The Flash. With only 7 of last years 12 finalists back this year in the finals (although the entire top 6 is back), there is some new blood. Led of course by semi-finals runner up Grant Gustin, 4th place Clark Gregg of Agents Of SHIELD who was a semi-finalist last year, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau from Game Of Thrones who seemingly replaced Kit Harington as the GoT 2nd challengers this year to Peter Dinklage. Another newcomer, Peter Capaldi from Doctor Who also makes it, and finally Colin O'Donoghue, a semi-finalist last year makes the finals this year. Last years runner up, Eric Balfour from haven is back, as are Peter Dinklage, Robert Carlyle & Misha Collins. Dinklage managed to place 3rd, but the other 2 barely scraped into the finals, in 10th & 11th, just ahead of the 2012 winner Reedus who slipped into the final spot by a mere 9 votes. The Sci-Fi or Fantasy Actress category will more than likely have a new Winner this year. Last years winner Zoie Palmer is ineligible for the category this year because of the schedule that her show Lost Girl had this season. The 2012 winner Jennifer Morrison from Once Upon A Time is in the finals, but came in 5th, and was 2nd from her own show behind Lana Parrilla, and along with Ginnifer Goodwin makes 3 finalists for her show, and likely will cause a vote split to water down her chances of reclaiming the title. Tatiana Maslany from orphan Black comes in as the odds on favorite after her opening round 3rd place standing, she managed to win the semi-final vote. A 1st time finalist Lena Headey from Game Of Thrones finished 2nd in the semi-final vote ahead of another 1st time finalist Ming-Na Wen for Agents Of SHIELD. Last years runner up Emilia Clarke from Game Of Thrones came in 7th, while last years 3rd place finalist Emily Rose of Haven came in 4th. Agents Of SHIELD nabbed 2 other finalist spots with Chloe Bennet & Elizabeth Henstridge, giving them as many finalists as Once Upon A Time. Melissa McBride of The Walking Dead and Jenna Coleman from Doctor Who tied for the last 2 spots. Notable ommisions this year are Rachel Nichols from Continuum who finished 6th last year, Emilie de Ravin from Once Upon A Time who finished 8th & Lexa Doig from Continuum who finished 10th. All who made the semi-finals, but missed making the finals by varying margins. The Sci-Fi or Fantasy program category looks like it could be a battle for Supernatural to try & take its 4th title in the category. The semi-final vote went to Game Of Thrones with 336, a bit behind them was Supernatural still well in the mix at 308. Once Upon A Time managed a 3rd place showing. Last years runner up Lost Girl limped in at 9th, while the 3rd place finalist last year Doctor Who was 5th. Newcomers to the finals this year include Agents Of SHIELD in 4th, Orphan Black in 7th & The Vampire Diaries re-entering the finals for the 1st time since 2010 when it was entered as a Drama before the guidelines of the categories were more solidified, snuck in at 10th place. Only absentees from last year were the now retired Fringe, and Continuum. The Finals for these categories will take place in January 2015 HERE The 2014 Best Of TV Awards Semi-Finals are now Closed. Last years runner up Lost Girl took 3rd and is still a threat if their fans decide to try. Only shows that did not make the finals that did last season were Continuum, Hannibal, Hawaii Five-O, Sleepy Hollow & retired Fringe. Newcomers to the finals are Agents Of SHIELD, Murdoch Mysteries, Orange Is The New Black, Sherlock & The Flash. The Favorite Character category again sees the defending 4 time champion Dean Winchester "Supernatural" not going in as the favorite based on the Semi-Final vote. This year however, he has 1 less challenger to threaten his title as the 2012 & 2013 runner up was penalized heavily for her fans refusal to follow rules, and it cost her. Castiel from "Supernatural", last years semi-final runer up & finalist 3rd place competitor goes into the finals as the semi-final leader. 20 of the 25 finalists last year are in again. Only exclusions are the now retired Fringe duo of Walter Bishop & Olivia Dunham, How I Met Your Mother character Barney Stinson in his last run, Sherlock Holmes from Elementary, although should be noted Sherlock Holmes from Sherlock is in this year, and finally Dr. Lauren Lewis of Lost Girl who only failed to make it due to a fan boycott due to the penalties levied....although they had no problem putting their 2 other stars through. Newcomers are plenty, most notable Malcolm Merlyn from Arrow, Sherlock Holmes from Sherlock & William Murdoch & Julia Ogden of Murdoch Mysteries. All of whom passed 100 votes in the semi-finals. The Finals for these categories will take place in January 2015 HERE |
