The 2015 Best Of TV Awards are about to start the Finals soon. The 6th annual BOTVA's are still closing out some polls for the run off round before we advance to the finals. We've already shattered the previous record for votes in the first round combined. With over 487,000 votes. The 2015 BOTVA's all time record of 575,000 votes in a year. While the show does have 1 finalist in Curtis Armstrong, it seems like he will certainly have some serious competition this year from others on other shows. A bit of a shocker to me, Bradley James from iZombie led voting in the semi-finals. Ian Anthony Dale from "Hawaii Five-0" was tied for 2nd with Armstrong. Winston Duke from "Person of Interest" a 5th place Guest Star finalist last year, finds himself in the hunt for the Recurring honour this year. Noah Wyle, John Noble, Joshua Jackson and Jon Hamm all find themselves competing in this category this year, all previously were finalists in the main actor categories for completely different shows, in the past. The Best Recurring Actress Category finalists had another minor upset (to me at least) in the semi-finals. Ann Mahoney from "The Walking Dead" a non-factor in round 1 voting where she finished 32nd, led voting this round. Felicia Day from "Supernatural" , the 2013 Winner of this award was 2nd. Alycia Debnam-Carey will have two spots in the finals, one for "The 100" & one for "Fear The Walking Dead". Michelle Borth of "Hawaii Five-0" makes the finals as a Recurring actress this year, after missing out on the finals in the Best Action/Drama Actress category last year. Camren Mannheim led 3 "Person Of Interest" actresses into the finals, along with cara Buono and Annie Ilonzeh. Ksenia Solo, a finalist last year in this category for "Lost Girl" is back with her work on "Orphan Black". Katrina Law, a finalist in this category last year, and caity Lotz, a finalist in the Best Sci-fi/Fantasy Actress category last year represent "Arrow" in the finals this year here. Rachel Nichols "Continuum" makes the finals one last time for her work on the show in its final season, this time in the Recurring category. The Best Guest Star Category was led by the Winner of the Best Action/Drama Actress category last year. Emily Bett Rickards "The Flash" led voting for the same cahracter that won her the most notable actress award last year, this time on a different show. She was also a finalist last year in this category for this very role, finishing 6th. Taraji P. Henson "Person Of Interest" is a finalist for her work with the character that got her a finalist nod in 2013 in the Best Action/Drama Actress field. Travis Aaron Wade, a finalist for Recurring Actor last year is back in the finals as a Guest Star this year for his work on "Supernatural". Another "Suypernatural" finalist is Timothy Omundson, better known as a 3X finalist for Best Comedy Actor for his work on "Psych". Enrico Colantoni "Person of Interest" is back in the finals again after last year being there in the Recurring Actor category. Julian Richings "Supernatural" gets back into the finals after 1st appearing in this categories inagural award in 2011. Lucy Lawless "Agents Of SHIELD" is back in the finals in this category after finishing 3rd in it last year. Stephen Amell "The Flash" also returns after a 7th place finish last year. Grant Gustin "Arrow" also is back after being a finalist last year. Mark Hamill "The Flash" finds himself as a finalist, fresh off his massive 5 second role in Star Wars The Force Awakens. John Noble is a double finalist this year. With his Recurring honour, and his work on "Forever" he gets a spot in this finals too. Ksenia Solo "Lost Girl" is also a double finalist this year. Her Recurring nod, and her Guest Star nod for "Lost Girl", her 5th finals for this show (3 Sci-Fi/Fantasy Actress, 1 Recurring, 1 Guest). Wil Wheaton "The Big Bang Theory" is back as a finalist after being one for his work on the show in 2012. Robert Knepper "Hawaii Five-0" is back for a 2nd time in the Guest Star category, after being nominated last year for "Arrow" and its his 3rd straight year making at least the semi-finals in this category as he did so in 2013 for "The Blacklist" making him the first ever actor nominated in the same category 3 years in a row for 3 different shows. Rebecca Mader "Once Upon A Time" makes it back to the finals for the first time since 2012 when she did so with her Guest Spot on "Fringe". Sarah Bolger "Once Upon A Time" makes the finals for a 2nd time, last being 2013 as a Recurring Actress. Colin Donnell "Arrow" is back for a 2nd straight year for his work on the show as a Guest Star. Bex Taylor-Klaus the 2014 Best Youth Actress winner, is also back for a 2nd time for her Guest Star work on "Arrow". The 2013 Best Action/Drama Actor winner John Barrowman is in the finals with his work on "The Flash". Bob Newhart "The Big Bang Theory" is in his 2nd consecutive finals for Guest Star. The Final round of the 2015 Best Of TV Awards will be under way with some categories soon. Each voting round will last 3 to 6 days.. Last years winner Isaac Hempstead-Wright from "Game Of Thrones" is back, along with the 2013 winner Robbie Kay for his work on "Heroes Reborn", previously he won with his work on "Once Upon A Time". But its regular finalsts Jared Gilmore "Once Upon A Time" and Chandler Riggs "The Walking Dead", along with David Mazouz "Gothqam" who led the semi-final voting & look like they will give serious competition for the title this year. The Best Youth Actress Category looks like it might again go to the 2013 winner Maisie Williams from "Game Of Thrones:". After losing the 2014 title to now over 20 actress Bex Taylor-Klaus, the inagural winner looks to have a serious run at a 2nd title set up. While some competition was put in for the semi-finals from unexpected contender Chandler Kinney from "Gortimer Gibbons Life On Normal Street" and Camren Bicondova from "Gotham", Williams seems like the safe bet in this category again. The Best New Program Category seems poised to crown a female led hero show this year. Jessica Jones, Supergirl and Agent carter were the top 3 vote getters in the semi-finals. While Quantico & Daredevil were also close to the leaders. Fear The Walking Dead makes the finals, hoping to follow in its origin shows footsteps and win the New Program award. Two comedies Galavant & Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt eek into the finals, making them the first comedies to make the finals since 2011 Breaking In did so. The Final round of the 2015 Best Of TV Awards will be under way with some categories soon. Each voting round will last 3 to 6 days. Voting, and a complete list of nominees in all categories can be found HERE The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Action or Drama Actor is.... Christopher Gorham "Covert Affairs" It seemed a foregone conclussion that this years winner would be from Castle or Arrow based on the first two rounds of voting & years prior voting. Instead Christopher Gorham "Covert Affairs" pulls out a quite frankly, unexpected win. Gorham who brings to life blind CIA officer Auggie Anderson on the show pulled out all the stops to win. Using twitter & the social celebrity networking site WhoSay to encourage fans to vote for him. This is the 1st time Best Action or Drama Actor Award has been won by someone from a show that has no other awards. This is Covert Affairs 1st & only award as the show recently was canceled by USA. Runner up Stephen Amell "Arrow" was 3rd last year narrowly beat out the 2013 winner, his co-star John Barrowman by 4 votes. Fair to say the vote split of these 2, and the other 2 Arrow cast on the ballot had some play in this years winner. In 4th is the 2 time winner of the award Nathan Fillion "Castle". Well back in 5th is James Spader "The Blacklist" in his 2nd finals appearance, up from last years 7th. In 6th is Mads Mikkelsen "Hannibal" down 1 spot from 5th last year. In 7th is Yannick Bisson "Murdoch Mysteries" in his 1st ever finals apperance. In 8th is Alex O’Loughlin "Hawaii Five’O" dropped from the 4th place finish of last year in his 3rd consecutive finals appearance. In 9th is Ben McKenzie from the rookie hit "Gotham". In 10th is Hugh Dancy "Hannibal" finishing in the same place he did last year. In 11th & 12 are 2 more "Arrow" cast in their first finals appearances, Colton Haynes 11th & Paul Blackthorne 12th. 1st CHRISTOPHER GORHAM "Covert Affairs" 1792

The Flash (CW)
The Flash wins this years Best New Program award, giving The CW their 2nd such honour (2012 - Arrow). With 619 votes The Flash grabbed the lead fairly early & never gave it back. The 292 vote win was the largest in the history of the category. The Comic book adaptation is coincidentally a spin-off of the 2012 winner Arrow. Grant Gustin as "Barry Allen" (aka - "The Flash") stars in the modern day version of the 1990s version of the show that starred John Wesley Shipp, who is a recurring character on this version. Runner up was How To Get Away With Murder with 327 votes. Comfortably ahead of 3rd place finalist Gotham with 227 votes, it had the lead for a short while on day 1 before The Flash took over & never looked back. In 4th is The 100 just behind 3rd place by 4 votes. 5th was Constantine, in 6th was Outlander, in 7th Forever, in 8th Scorpion & in 9th was the critically acclaimed True Detectives. 1st THE FLASH (CW) 619 2nd HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER (ABC) 327 3rd GOTHAM (FOX) 223 4th The 100 (CW) 219 5th Constantine (NBC) 166 6th Outlander (Starz) 122 7th Forever (ABC) 115 8th Scorpion (CBS) 100 9th True Detective (HBO) 98 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Youth Actress is.... Bex Taylor-Klaus "Arrow"
With 3 finals nominations in 2 years for this award, Bex Taylor-Klaus wins in her final year of eligibility for the award for her role as the smart mouthed street kid "Sin" on "Arrow" with 524 votes. Bex finished 8th last year for her role on "The Killing" and also finished 5th for this role on "Arrow". Bex managed to beat out last years winner Maisie Williams "Game Of Thrones" who came well back in 2nd with 280 votes. The 244 vote margin is a new category record. Coming in 3rd was Sasha Pieterse "Pretty Little Liars" in her 1st finals appearance. In 4th is newcomer Camren Bicondova from the rookie hit "Gotham", ahead of 5th place Brighton Sharbino in her last year on "The Walking Dead’ was up from her 7th place finish last year. Last years 3rd place finalist Sophie Turner "Game Of Thrones" finished back in 6th this year. Taissa Farmiga "American Horror Story" also drops from 4th to 7th this year. In 8th is Zoe de Grand’Maison "Orphan Black", 9th was Danielel Campbell "The Originals", 10th was Skyler Wexler "Orphan Black" & Telior Grubbs "Hawaii Five-0" rounds out the finalists in 11th. 1st BEX TAYLOR-KLAUS "Arrow" 524 2nd MAISIE WILLIAMS "Game Of Thrones" 280 3rd SASHA PIETERSE "Pretty Little Liars" 246 4th Camren Bicondova "Gotham" 155 5th Brighton Sharbino "The Walking Dead" 129 6th Sophie Turner "Game Of Thrones" 117 7th Taissa Farmiga "American Horror Story" 103 8th Zoe de Grand’Maison "Orphan Black" 85 8th Danielle Campbell "The Originals" 81 9th Skyler Wexler "Orphan Black" 78 10th Teilor Grubbs "Hawaii Five-0" 61 Best Of TV Awards 2014 - Best Youth Actor Winner - ISAAC HEMPSTEAD WRIGHT "Game Of Thrones"1/26/2015 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Youth Actor is.... Isaac Hempstead Wright "Game Of Thrones"
Isaac Hempstead Wright from "Game Of Thrones" wins the 2nd ever Best Youth Actor award and becomes the 2nd Game Of Thrones cast member to win a Youth Award, after Maisie Williams win last year for Youth Actress. Wright brings to life the paralyzed Bran Stark every week on the show. At only 15 years of age, Wright will the opportunity to repeat as champion next year as his character is still active on the show, unlike last years inaugural winner Robbie Kay from "Once Upon A Time" who was killed off. Runner up this year is last years 3rd place finalist Chandler Riggs "The Walking Dead". Riggs held the vote lead for a little while in the middle of the vote, but eventually gave way to Wright. In 3rd is David Mazouz from "Gotham". Mazouz, like Riggs, had the lead early on, but voting for him slowed down after the 1st couple days and was eventually passed. In 4th was last years runner up Jared Gilmore "Once Upon A Time". Last years 4th place finalist Nolan Gould "Modern Family" came in 6th this year, and last years 5th place finalist Jake T. Austin "The Fosters" came in 7th this year. New to the list this year, 5th place Luke Bilyk "Degrassi: The Next Generation", Nick Robinson "Melissa & Joey" & Raphael Alejandro "Once Upon A Time" shared 8th. This year, those same top 3 finalists from last year are back & in the serious mix for this years honour. Joining them are 1st time finalist Christopher Gorham from Covert Affairs who finished 2nd to Stephen Amell from Arrow for the semi-final vote, and Mads Mikkelsen from hannibal, who finished 4th, a spot higher than he finished in the finals of last years vote. While the top 5 from last year all made the finals this year, the bottom half of last years top 10 was not so lucky, only 7th place James Spader from The Blacklist & 10th place Hugh Dancy from hannibal is returning. Ousted were Johnny Lee Miller of Elementary, Matthew Gray Gubler from Criminal Minds and Jim Caviezel from Person of Interest. New to the party besides Gorham are, Paul Blackthorne and Colton Haynes from Arrow, giving them FOUR finalists. Yannick Bisson from Murdoch Mysteries, and Ben McKenzie from the rookie drama Gotham. The Best Action Or Drama Actress category has been the "Stana Katic Award" since its inception in 2011 as the actress from Castle has won all 3 times, making her the only actor or actress to win her award every year since its existence. But this year, it might not go her way if Emily Bett Rickards from Arrow has any say in it. The leading vote getting in the semi-finals had more than Katic & 3rd place fellow Arrow cast member Susanna Thompson combined. Three more Arrow cast made the finals with Caity Lotz in 4th, Willa Holland in 5th & Katie Cassidy in 12th, giving Arrow FIVE finalists. Surely vote splitting will be a major concern for the finalists there, giving Katic a bit of a chance still as she was the only finalist from Castle with Molly Quinn just missing out by 5 votes. Despite the seemingly lopsided rrow & Stana Katic race, there are other contenders. Lucy Liu from Elementary finished 3rd last year in the finals to Katic & Rickards, and comes in this year in 6th in the semi-finals. Amy Acker of Person Of Interest was also a finalist last year, finishing 5th and narrowly made it in this year in 11th. Grace Park finished 6th last year & finished 8th in this years semi-finals. Other newcomers besides the 4 newcomers from Arrow include Pauley Perrette from NCIS, Maggie Smith from Downton Abbey and Helene Joy from Murdoch Mysteries. Two finalists from last year Ellen Pompeo from Grey's Anatomy & Kerry Washington from Scandal failed to make the finals this year, along with Celina Jade from Arrow & Taraji P. Henson from Person Of Interest who are no longer eligible. The Best Action or Drama Program category will again look like a fight between the defending champion Arrow & the former 2 time champion Castle. Perennial contender Criminal Minds finished 3rd last year and finished 8th in the semi-final voting to make it 5 consecutive years in the finals, the ONLY Drama to have done so. Last years New Program runner up Hannibal finished 3rd in the semi-final vote, cementing itself as a contender this year. In 4th is 1st time finalist Covert Affairs. Joining Covert Affairs on the 1st time finalist list is Sherlock, Murdoch Mysteries & The Blacklist. Only 5 of last years finalists made it to the finals this year. Missing the mark this time were retired Breaking Bad, along with Rookie Blue, Elementary, Grey's Anatomy & The Mentalist. The Finals for these categories will take place in January 2015 HERE |
