The Flash was shooting scenes for episode 522 earlier this month in downtown Vancouver. On night one of their 2 night shoot, there was a scene that had several cast on set. Grant Gustin, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Danielle Panabaker, Hartley Sawyer, Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh and Candice Patton. I caught a few moments sporadically throughout their shoots where I got a couple short videos. Apologies in advance if you are not happy with the video quality. Feel free to buy me a top quality video camera, and I will shoot better videos. But THESE were done with my $500 Camera (not video specific camera), and from 2 city blocks away. Lastly, when you are out at night looking at it on a 2 inch screen, it looks a lot better than when you finally get it home and see it on a 20 inch computer screen. In the first video below, I merged 3 different clips together featuring all the cast at different points. UPDATED APRIL 22, 2019 - 3:50 PM - More clips added at the bottom. There was also a scene shot with Grant Gustin, Jessica Parker Kennedy and Tom Cavanagh a bit later that I made a separate video for below.. You may NOT make 3 posts of just 1 part. Please make note of this rare bonus permission. The Flash was shooting scenes for episode 522 Wednesday night and Thursday night in Granville Plaza. Oddly enough, a location they used for last years finale. This time however, they were calling it "Central City Plaza" and had a fake hotel sign out there. The scene had Grant Gustin as The Flash, Carlos Valdes as Vibe, Danielle Panabaker as Killer Frost, Hartley Sawyer as Elongated Man, Jessica Parker Kennedy as XS and Candice Patton as Iris West Allen shooting a scene with 1 other vry notable cast member on set. Tom Cavanagh was also there, but this time, not as Sherloque Wells, but as long time recurring villain Reverse Flash. Unlike the day before, when I showed up to a shoot for The Flash that lasted less than 2 hours, they used up every second they could this time, as the filming notices they have to hand out to businesses said they would film till 5:30 AM, and I can confirm that at almost 5 AM, a couple cast members were still there filming when I finally left. It is quite rare for an overnight shoot to use up every minute they can. Usually these notices say "5:30" but they are usually done by "3:00" (or some time frame around couple hours short of what they say they need). Of course the big spoiler on this set was that Grant Gustin had his 3 dogs at the set...... okay, and I guess, the Reverse Flash at some point gets out and is causing havoc. I was unable to confirm if this scene is in current day, or in 2049. But with the entire hero squad, and their blogger friend there, I feel it was a current day scene. The scene seemed to be splintered into parts, so I was really unable to really follow what all happens. All I can say is, the whole team lines up against Reverse Flash and lots of talking seems to take place. At one point they did a scene with just Flash & RF, and it seems like Flash AGAIN lets RF run away. But I cant say with certainty since like I said, the scene really seemed to be broken down into a lot of small parts that could play out in any random order on screen. There are MANY MORE photos from this set, but I wanted to get a few up right away for everyone to start talking about. So check back in a day or 2 to see a few more. I also have some photos from a daytime scene from the day before this shoot of Grant and Candice doing a scene, I will try to get to that this weekend. But obviously because of the importance of these scenes, I had to work on this one first. UPDATED: APRIL 12, 2019 - 12:30 AM - An extra photo added from Twitter user @TheMysciraBound that I asked her to send me, because it was a bit more crisp & clear front shot than any I got of Reverse Flash (I believe for a stunt scene). UPDATED: APRIL 16, 2019 - 7:45 PM - More photos added, from night 2 of filming at the bottom. Plus some details on the last night of filming. The Flash returns to TV for the end of season run on The CW in the U.S. on Tuesday after a few weeks off with the episode that I shot a couple months ago HERE and a short video HERE. If you want to see my past behind the scene shots for The Flash go HERE If you want to see my autograph gallery for The Flash go HERE Night 2 of shooting had much of the same..... except this time, there was the always present random smoke that The CW shows love to use so much. I think maybe 3 or 4 times in my life have I walked down a street or past an alley and seen as much steam/smoke coming out of it as these shows claim exists. Sometimes I find the smoky effect helps with photos, sometimes it hinders. On this night, I would say hinders. Especially when saddled with the fact I had to shoot from an extra 25 metres away this time. All the same cast were on set, again, shooting scenes with all the heroes, and Iris, facing off against Thawne. I saw moments where Killer Frost, Vibe, and Elongated Man, all at different times, seemed to be trying to use their powers. I am not sure what the context was of them using them, but each of them at some point seem to be using their special skills in this battle. At the end of the night, which was just a shade before 5:30 AM, the cast left. I chatted with Grant about his new hairdo while signed a few autographs for me, and he assured me it wont be on screen like that. He was going to be in his costume for the scenes after when he got the cut, so it was all good for continuity. So dont worry fans, Barry did not lose a fight with a razor. I chatted with Hartley and Jessica for a moment, and told both of them to enjoy their breaks, and they both thanked me for saying so. Of course, the big moment came when Carlos Valdes was leaving. I asked him again, as I did back during filming for episode 17, if he was coming back. This time, his answer was an emphatic "of course", and I said "ok, great, guess I'll see you next season" and he replied back "and I'll see YOU next season". So it sounds like you can count in Carlos for at least 1 more season on The Flash. That was the end of season 5 of The Flash filming. Enjoy these extra few (albeit quite grainy/fuzzy due to how far away I had to stand) photos from night #2 of filming. The Flash was shooting scenes for episode 518 last week. As you may have already heard from my previous blog post HERE there was a scene going on with Jessica Parker Kennedy as Nora West Allen and Grant Gustin as Barry Allen in the future. I never really could hear what Barry said, but I clearly heard Nora on multiple takes say "Dad, you dont have to do this. I promise I'll never see Thawne again.". But now, here is some video from 1 of those takes, and you can see the fear and panic in Noras face as Barry leaves her there in 2049.... but WHY is she so panicked? The episode is directed by The Flash co-star Danielle Panabaker. You can also find other angles of the scene shot at local fans twitter account @TheMyscirabound Heres one angle of the scene from her account. And another, you can hear Nora tell Barry she promises not to see Thawne again The Flash airs on The CW in the U.S. on Tuesdays. The Flash was shooting scenes for episode 518 this morning/afternoon in downtown Vancouver at the Vancouver Public Library, before moving inside the CBC building across the street. The title of the episode is one that will have hardcore Flash fans screaming in excitement, or nervous fear. With The Flash keeping the directing of this episode in house, by having 1st time director, and main actor on the show, Danielle Panabaker doing the work, it is no shock the title, and subject matter has been hush hush so far. Luckily for me, my always attentive eye caught the binder of a crew member with the title for the episode showing. The early day scene had a group of cops chasing "someone", while a stunt double that was filling in for Jessica Parker Kennedy as Nora gets thrown thru the air onto a car. After the stunts were done, Jessica came in for a VERY SHORT shoot (I am not entirely sure that she did more than 1 take of it to be honest.). She was dressed in casual clothes in all black, and seemed unfazed by the toss her character had just endured. After that scene ended, the crew and cast moved to a secure underground parking lot across the street in the CBC building to shoot more stuff. I managed to catch up to Danielle Panabaker before she headed over there, and even with her hands full of binders and a water bottle, not to mention her tight schedule as director, and me even telling her "nah, its okay, you got your hands full" she still insisted on stopping to sign my item that I had out. Going to be hard for future actors to tell me "I cant, I'm in a rush" after encountering that. The only Godspeed scenes shot on Thursday were either indoors, or really late with stunts. The indoor scene was to take place at "Stagg Industries Storage Facility" and has Godspeed catch Nora and Lia Nelson. Godspeed then kills Lia. After that scene, they went back outside and did that scene with Grant & Jessica. After that scene wrapped, they were scheduled to do a scene where "Godspeed chases Nora up the building... to the roof". The building he is chasing her up, the "CC Citizen Media" building (I'm guessing the CC is short for Central City.... which would make that the paper Iris started). Stunts were also done Friday night for the roof scene, and you can find a photo of Godspeed hanging off the roof of the building HERE from this photographer HERE UPDATED: 10:10 PM February 21, 2019: There was a night scene as well. In the night scene Grant Gustin and Jessica Parker Kennedy do a scene together in the year 2049. It is a pretty intense scene that contains dialogue from Nora "dad, you dont have to do this. I promise I'll never see Thawne again". So, by episode 18, the secret clearly IS OUT. UPDATED: 12:44 AM February 22, 2019: Added 26 more photos, including many of Grant & Danielle conversing during a break, and Grant & Jessica filming the scene described in the paragraph above. UPDATED: 4:45 AM February 23, 2019: I have added some description & details about the scene shooting on Thursday with Godspeed. I had not originally added it as I tend to stick to a policy of not posting things I did not see. However, a prominent Youtuber managed to get the info and I felt I should at least confirm that I too had that same info, and perhaps clarify a bit more on it. I will have some photos to add of the Godspeed stunt later today. UPDATED: 10:27 PM February 23, 2019: Added 2 photos from local photographer Brittany Charlotte. Her instagram is in the link on her name, so go thank her for the pics, and follow her if you want. I asked her if she would give me a couple more photos that she hasn't posted yet, to give you all a bit more look at the face, and design of the suit. So please give HER all credits when re-posting them. There is also a short synopsis of the scene from her. "Jessica scoots as if she has been running, then Godspeed gets dropped from a height onto the 'Central City Citizen board' ". This scene was shot on the outside of the CBC building late Friday night. The Flash was shooting scenes for episode 515 or 516 (I think 16) in an alley just off Granville Street in downtown Vancouver. It's an alley they have used OFTEN. So often, I knew exactly where they were going to bring cast in, and hold them etc. They've been in this alley pretty often. While they were setting up the scene that would be shot first, Chris Klein dressed as Cicada, and Danielle Panabaker dressed up as Killer Frost showed up, and almost walked right thru the crowd of lookie loos, before being turned around by a crew member towards where they were supposed to go. I always can tell what type of "fans" there are at a set by who they recognize.... and this was a perfect example. Danielle, in full KF wardrobe got within about 5 feet of a crowd of 20+ people, and NOT ONE noticed. Clear example that these weren't fans, as much as they were clubbers, stopping by to gawk at all the Hollywood magic going on so they could get instagram likes later. The crew then worked on a car for about 10 minutes, quite literally sawing thru it, so that when they did a stunt later, it would have the desired effect wanted for it. That stunt, saw The Flash stunt double Cody Laudan dropped from about 30-50 feet in the air, into the car, blowing out all the windows, and leaving a massive person sized dent in it. Cody then shot scenes where he just stayed in the dent, almost motionless, as Cicada does his little up, up & away move with his dagger and leaves. During breaks, you would sometimes see the Cicada double talking to Chris, and seemingly showing him how moves should be done. You see this type of stuff a lot on sets, but this time, it seemed like he was doing it a LOT more than others. For a brief while, Danielle was on set as Killer Frost, but I never really saw what her role in the scene was. For much of the evening, the main stars were not really around when I saw them shooting. It was primarily the stunt team, and Chris Klein shooting. A little later, Danielle took off from set, and stopped to take photos with the half dozen or so fans who actually KNEW who she was. A little while later, Grant Gustin showed up in his Flash attire. He then took over from the spot Cody had been in for the last hour. I always feel a little bad for Cody & the other stunt people when I see them do things like they did for Grant, where they had a ladder brought in for him to get up onto the car with, while Cody just had to climb up onto this just recently smashed up car, and climb off it on his own. The crew then shot the same scenes, this time with Grant laying there. A little while later, Grant would leave, and Danielle would come back to do her work. The set up in the alley made it tough to see anything, so I called it a night at that point, and headed home. So I cant really say what happened between Killer Frost and Cicada in this scene. The show did celebrate its 100th episode on Saturday night with a party at 1 of Vancouver's best known venues, the Commodore Ballroom. It actually was a busy weekend for the Commodore hosting milestone events for The CW, as Supernatural had their party the night before for their 300th episode. The event was a celebration of their accomplishment, along with a chance to give press people a few tidbits of info for the event. The Flash cast in attendance included Grant Gustin, Tom Cavanagh, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Candice Patton, Hartley Sawyer, Danielle Nicolet, Patrick Sabongui, Jessica Parker Kennedy and Chris Klein. Of course Jesse L Martin was noticeably missing, as he still is recuperating from surgery on a back issue. But the cast of The Flash was not all that showed up, as all 4 Arrowverse shows were represented quite heavily at the party. Arrow had Stephen Amell, Cassandra Amell, David Ramsey, Juliana Harkavy, Rick Gonzalez and Kirk Acevedo there. Legends Of Tomorrow brought Brandon Routh, Courtney Ford, Jes Macallan, Tala Ashe, Adam Tsekhman and Ramona Young. Supergirl was represented by Melissa Benoist, Katie McGrath, Nicole Maines, Mehcad Brooks, David Harewood, Jesse Rath, and former cast member Chris Wood . A handful of former guest stars were there, along with Elseworlds newcomer LaMonica Garrett. Probably my favorite parts of the evening was a couple things. First, the rent-a-goon "security" team they hired who clearly had never done a celebrity event in their life, and were over reacting to every single person coming in like they thought they were protecting President Obama or something..... and still failed at doing so. Not once, but on 3 different occasions early in the evening, they decided to get confrontational with me about being on a public sidewalk. As I told the first group "its going to be a long night for you" which they tried then telling me no one was going to sign autographs. They lost their will to live pretty quickly, and by the time the celebs were leaving, they weren't even bothering to acknowledge some of them with a half hearted "human chain" that they so intensely created for everyone on the way in, just adding to the annoyance of the celebs who did want to sign when they had to reach over outstretched arms holding hands with another outstretched arm. They were so poorly informed on how to act, and who they were there to "protect" that they were creating human chains for random crew members, and failing to do so when actual actors from the show were leaving. Candice Patton had no one but the people she left with protecting her. Same for Carlos Valdes. No moment more encapsulated the evening of incompetence than when they "protected" Hayes Robbins, the husband of The Flash star Danielle Panabaker, but not Danielle herself. All in all, not the best team. I wouldnt hire them to protect a pie from a child. For the record, the "no autographs" I was promised, was Juuuuuuuust a tad short of accurate. I got every single cast member of The Flash except for Jessica Parker Kennedy, Danielle Nicolet and Chris Klein. The last two, who I did not even have something for. I also got 6 of the other Arrowverse cast. In fact, not one single person that signed that I needed, did they end up stopping me from getting. Usually when a staff tells me I'm not getting anything, they at least succeed on preventing me from getting SOMEONE at some point. I cant recall a team ever failing at every single venture. It was quite something to behold. Second, was the variety of crew, and also 1 actor, who joked that I should be inside, because as 1 of them put it "I think you have spent more time on the set than some of us". I have done several cast parties over the years, and for the most part, crew are always very welcoming to me at these events. It really repeats the point I try to make to people all the time when they think the crews hate us. While I am sure there are some, from every show (because when you have a group of 200+ people working on something.... not everyone is going to be happy about the same things), the vast majority dont have a problem with us, and understand we all have a job to do. As for who hung with who? Obviously the interior of the party was a mystery to me. But as they arrived & left, MOST cast arrived & left on their own. But there were a couple exceptions. Much of The Flash cast were in early, as they had press to do inside before the party. I know that for cast Grant, Hartley, Carlos and Danielle were the last to leave, all leaving around 11:45-11:55ish. While Candice was the first to leave much earlier, and Jessica a little while after. The Arrow cast were some of the latest to arrive, with Stephen, being the first of the cast, and not till after 8. Rick and David arrived together, with Kirk very shortly after them, and Juliana shortly after him. The Legends Of Tomorrow cast was a bit of a mystery to me. They seemed pretty scattered on when they arrived, and left. The only thing I do recall from their cast was Ramona Young was the last one to arrive. For Supergirl, Melissa was the first to leave from any of the shows, even before some people had even got there. While Katie & Nicole seemed to leave with their guests together. The Flash airs on The CW in the U.S. on Tuesdays. It shows the next day on Netflix in Canada and other countries. The 100th episode will air live on December 4, 2018. The Flash was shooting scenes Thursday night/early Friday morning in the street in front of the old Canada Post building, and later in the courtyard in front of an old Bank across the street.. While the sight of the 3 actors that were on set wouldn't exactly be a shock to anyone, HOW they were seen on set might be in a couple of the cases. The evening started with fans being excited that Danielle Panabaker was there. But were disappointed as quickly when they found out she was just there to say hi to the crew before leaving town, as she had wrapped the day earlier. The actual filming night started with a shoot that saw Grant Gustin on set as his superhero persona The Flash shooting a scene with one of this seasons best additions to any show, Hartley Sawyer as Ralph Dibny. Of course, as we saw last episode, Ralph had his powers, and apparently his life, taken by Clifford Devoe. So seeing him on set was a mild shock for some, but seeing him back in his less than heroic looking original form of Ralph Dibny was more of a shock. In the scene, Flash seems to zip Dibny to a location before the pair have a short talk. During the talk it is pretty clear the clueless to being a hero Dibny was who we were looking at, as his look was one of mostly bewilderment and his body language was that of a slacker. After that scene, Hartley left, and Neil Sandilands showed up. I never actually saw the scenes Neil was shooting as the location had moved a bit off from where they were. But I know one thing.... he didnt have the Thinker Chair there. A couple hours later, Hartley returned.... this time dressed a bit differently. He was back in his Elongated Man outfit *which by the way, I never really noticed till i saw my photos up close on my screen, has "EM" on his belt). He then shot a scene with The Flash where the pair are standing in the street facing something... maybe Devoe? But I couldnt actually see if it was because of the angle they had us standing at prevented us from seeing what was at the other end of the street they were staring down. After the lunch break they shot a scene with The Flash and Elongated Man seemingly getting chased by a group of Devoe like clones. There were several men, all dressed the same and seemed to move in unison shooting a scene where they moved in on The Flash & EM before they would get away, causing the Devoe Gang to chase them. Last scene I saw was a more interesting one. The Flash stood around while The Elongated Man was battling & subduing The Elongated Man.The Flash wraps its 4th season of shooting tonight when they go back to the same location to finish off a couple parts they couldnt get in last night. Perhaps if you read this right away and get there in time..... you might see a scene where Harley Sawyer or Neil Sandilands are involved. They will be the only cast on set. The rest of the cast has wrapped for season 4. I have more photos of these scenes.... in fact, many more. I just put up a quick batch so that spoiler sites & youtubers could get to work on their stories for it. I will add those over the next week or so, so check back in a few days for more.
