THIS BLOG POST IS FOR A "THE FLASH" SEASON 7 (either episode 3, or 4. I believe its 3, but I can not confirm it), AND MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE SEASON. The Flash was on location for season 7 shooting at B.C. Place Stadium (better know as the exterior for S.T.A.R. Labs) on Thursday & Friday nights. This is part 2 of this 2 night set. You can find my 1st part blog HERE. On this second night. A lot happened, so I split it into 2 posts. This portion of the blog will focus on the later scenes. Which adds more context into the first part sets cliff hanger. As well, as show another scene that was shot late at night with some additions to the scene. The early part of the night was committed to continuing on from the other nights scene which seemed to mostly consist of a battle between Grant Gustin as The Flash and Efrat Dor as Eva McCulloch / Mirror Master / Mirror Mistress. As I stated in the other blog, Candice Patton joined this scene on the 2nd night to do a scene where she can be seen holding hands with Eva, and even consoling her. As I also said in that post, you can just barely see The Flash reaching out towards Eva, but what was his plan? Well, his plan was.... to join her. To hold hands with her. The trio stood on the steps together looking out at something. What were they looking at? What had these former foes seemingly teaming up? It appears a plethora of Mirror Mistress clones. As there was somewhere in the range of 6 to 8 actresses running around dressed like Eva shooting their arm cannons at a variety of background who were running around in a panic. In the background, a car was burning while this all went on. Does the new trio team win this battle? It seems so. While we never see them fight them in any way other than to hold hands and stare towards them, eventually they act like they won, and it is over. There was also a scene shot that I did not have photos of, but I do have a video clip that I will post in the next week or so, where you see a couple of these Mirror Mistress clones with their arm cannons pointed at The Flash, who is kneeling on the ground between the pair. Eventually they leave as Eva takes over. That scene SEEMS to be immediately before Iris comes over to Eva. But I can not 100% confirm the airing order of those scenes. The late night scene, that happened after their midnight lunch break saw the same trio there, now joined by 2 additional characters. Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon (or is he.... VIBE??) and Danielle Panabaker in her 1st public shoot since becoming a new mom in real life, as Killer Frost join the trio on the stair case. Cisco pulls off his Vibe looking glasses as the group looks out towards the scene unfolding in front of them. The way they were lined up looks like any photo from a promo shot of a cast I have ever seen. Is Eva joining Team Flash as a regular? Or is this her farewell redemption arc, like Marlize Devoe a couple seasons ago?
Through out the 2 nights, they frequently would shoot their big reaction full view scenes on the staircase facing the street. But for the more close up takes, would move back into the plaza more, and film them while they were standing sideways from the street, probably due to the fact it would be unsafe for them to set up so close to the stairs to do these shots, thus why a few shots it seems like I am "behind/to the side" of them for what seems like the same scene. There will be plenty of video from these 2 nights to post in the next week or so, so come back to find those then, or you can subscribe to my Youtube channel and get them there when they drop. THIS BLOG POST IS FOR A "THE FLASH" SEASON 7 EPISODE (unknown episode #, but I believe 3, but could be 4), AND MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE SEASON. The Flash was on location for season 7 shooting at B.C. Place Stadium (better known as the exterior location of S.T.A.R. Labs) for a couple nights. The first night, they shot some scenes up on a stair case that some Arrow fans would recognize from a scene Oliver & Felicity did in season 3 (in the daytime though, and before major changes to the surrounding area), as well on the platform outside the stadiums gate there. These scenes seemed to consist of Grant Gustin as The Flash, and Efrat Dor as Eva McCulloch / Mirror Mistress. Very little of the scene could be seen for most of the night, but at one point I did see part of a scene being done where Eva seemed to be looking in 1 direction, then they had Grant move to the other side of her, and her turn around and look in that direction. They had more shooting to do that night, later on. But I went home when they had their lunch break INTENDING to come back in 90 minutes.... but instead I fell asleep and didnt wake up till the next day. So thats all I have to report from the first night... which is kind of a blessing, because the 2nd night was so big, I need to break it into 2 blogs. I do not know if any other cast worked that night, as I said, there was not a lot to see for most of the evening. Something I saw the 2nd night makes me think there could have been other cast on set the 1st night, but were positioned in a way that I never could see them. The second night, I saw much more going on..... although early on, there was not a lot to see.
All I knew early on was that Grant and Efrat were both on set again, along with Candice Patton as Iris West Allen, as well as at least 1 (as it turned out more than 1) person dressed in the same attire as Mirror Mistress. With Iris there in the same place as The Flash & Eva, this confirms that by this episode, Iris escapes the Mirrorverse. How, and when? That is something you will have to wait & see, as I did not see anything on these nights to suggest how it happened. The scene seemed to be very long, and dialogue heavy, as Eva stood facing away from me for quite a while, before eventually turning around, looking around with a very serious & solemn look. She then raises her arms, and Iris comes over and joins her. Grabbing her hand, and looking at Eva with a look of assurance. A bit later, a little more of the scene unfolded, and we see The Flash reaching out towards Eva. What is his plan? PART 2 blog with some spoilers is HERE. As well, in a week or so, there will probably be some video from these scenes up on my youtube channel. I will post those down below when they are ready as well. So check back in a few days for that. The Flash was on location for season 7 shooting at the Vancouver Concention Centre in downtown Vancouver for a couple days. Along with a shoot on top of a parkade 3 blocks away later on the 2nd day. While there was not much to see on the 1st day (I found the set, but between the rain soaked glass, and the position of props & crew, it was impossible to tell what was being shot), I did get a shot of a few crates with Black Hole logos on them. As well as some type of beam type machine, which I dont yet know what it is for. On the 2nd day, there was a lot more to see however. In the morning, a scene was shot right outside the convention centre with Candice Patton as Iris West Allen, along with Victoria Park as Kamilla Hwang. If you werent paying really close attention while there you might have missed that this was in the mirrorverse, as the garbage bins, and dog walking signs there were printed in reverse.... even down to the spray cans Kamilla uses to spray paint (in the proper direction) a message to Iris had the labels on in reverse. The scene had Kamilla finishing up her message to Iris, when Iris shows up at that spot, sees her, and walks over to her gives her a hug, and the pair talk for about a minute, before walking off together. Where the pair were heading after this is unknown, as the scene ends about 20 steps later. This scene is for episode 7X02, as you may be able to see by the clapperboard. It is directed by Alexandra LaRoche, who has directed 5 other The Flash episodes in the past, as well as 8 other Arrowverse episodes from Legends Of Tomorrow, Arrow & Supergirl. As with all the other sets I have been to so far, the covid-19 guidelines in place by our government seemed to be getting met, as all the crew were masked up, equipment and crew stations were well spread out, and in between takes the cast were also wearing their masks. If you want to see more photos (without some watermarks) from this set, you can find them on Just Jared HERE, as a photographer I know came down to shoot the set after I let him know they were there. After that scene wrapped, the production moved back inside the convention centre to resume filming interior scenes. Thankfully, this taxpayer built, city block long, building comes with a LOT of glass on it. Making it easy to see whats going on inside.... long as you know where to look. In this particular case, on a level generally used for large convention hall events. I do not know if this scene is for episode 2, or 1, as I did not think till well after the fact to check and find out. It wasnt till I got home & saw a photo I had taken which made me suspicious that they were shooting parts of 2 episodes on the same day (this is NOT that rare of an occurrence, probably happens a dozen or so times a season). Without going into painstaking detail how I got the info, and what that info was, lets just say, what I saw made me think there were scenes for 2 episodes being shot on this day. On set for this scene was Grant Gustin as The Flash, Efrat Dor as Mirror Mistress, and their stunt doubles. The first scene I saw shot there was pretty simple. It had The Flash standing about 100 feet away from Mirror Mistress, and he simply goes running at her. After they shot that scene, I left for a while as I wanted to get some other work done, and it looked like they were going to keep re-doing that scene. I came back about an hour & 1/2 later and things had changed slightly, now they had Grants double up on a rolling cart. He was prepping a scene that Grant himself would do a bit later, where he goes charging towards Mirror Mistress in a horisontal fashio, with his arm shoved forward. Considering Grants love of Superman, I wonder how much he wanted to put both arms out & pretend he was being Superman for the scene, as it very much looked like the way you would expect the Man Of Steel to fly through the air, except with out 1 arm extended. In the scene, The Flash flies towards Mirror Mistress, before she bobs & weaves his lunge, and The Flash goes flying by her, not making impact with her, as she looks on with an unimpressed look. After the wrapped that scene, I moved over to the 1 other shoot I knew they had. UNFORTUNATELY, I did not know exactly where it was till I had put in considerable time trying to figure it out. it was on top of a parkade that has been used a few times for other shows in the past. With no good sight lines, I eventually gave up. But not before I came across the 1 & only set of cast trailers out there. The trailer was for Danielle Panabaker, as it has the Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost tag on the door. While I never saw her there, the fact it was the only active trailer at the set made it pretty clear she was going to be in that scene on the roof. What was she doing there? Guess we'll have to wait & see. UPDATE: October 26, 2020, 1:15 PM - Video of the scenes has been added at the bottom of this post. The Flash was on location for episode 18 of the 6th season in downtown Vancouver around the same location they had the final battle with Bloodwork for the end of the first half of season 6. It was a busy area for filming last night, as Batwoman was filming quite literally on the next block over. But I spent my time at The Flash, and good thing I did. Apologies in advance for some less than great photos. It was a perfect storm of things not going my way last night. Besides the typical Vancouver rain that I usually am used to, it was also pretty windy at times, I also was trying to work through that with my worst umbrella, as I have lost, or broken my other two better ones this season, and all that was amplified by the fact that TWICE in the night, I had my settings on my camera wrong. It was not a fun night all around. Last night they started a scene being done that included a couple stunt scenes first, with Grant Gustin and his stunt double Cody Laudan as The Flash in a battled versus........ GODSPEED! Yes, you heard that right. There were a couple scenes. First, one where they dropped a stuntman in the Godspeed outfit form several floors up onto a vehicle. A fan actually caught the rehearsal for this stunt earlier in the day here. After that Cody came out to do a scene where The Flash got thrown into a van. There was then a scene where Godspeed seems to be looking down at The Flash on the ground, and might be kneeling down towards him, when The Flash zips out of there. Lots of questions to be asked & answered from this reveal. Is this the actual Godspeed? is it another knock off like he battled at the start of the season? Is Godspeed part of Black Hole? However, Godspeed was not the only returnee last night. After Godspeeds first set of scenes, he left, and someone (I never was able to confirm if it was the same person, my vision isnt the best... if anyone else can confirm, or deny, or identify the person, please comment with that & I will update it) came in to do scenes dressed in a cloack, with gauntlets that glow green..... sound familiar? Pied Piper seems to be back. Oh, and he is helping The Flash. The pair did some scenes where they appear to be fighting Godspeed, as they both look up. At one point you hear someone yell out for The Flash, whether it was a crew member calling out a mark to Grant, or Piper asking him to help him, or to tell him to do something specific, I couldnt hear, all I heard was Flashs name get called out. A bit later, they did a scene where they slowly encroach on the vehicle Godspeed fell on. They get closer and Godspeed is laying flat out on the top of the crumpled vehicle. After that scene, they moved into the street. It was pouring rain, windy, and the only angle I had to see the scene was quite literally from just a bit under 2 blocks away thru traffic going along a major road, and all the crew & prop vehicles, so I only stayed for 3 or 4 takes of this scene. The scene SEEMED to have Godspeed grabbing a random person (if it is someone, I cant tell) while others run around in a panick. There also seemed to be a guy standing beside him at the start of the scene in a beige jacket wearing what appears to be sunglasses, which would be a bit odd in the middle of the night. Not sure if he is someone, or just a random crew/background person there. I know Grant went to set for this scene, so The Flash is in the scene..... somewhere, but I had a very limited window of space to view any of the scene which was frankly massive, so it was just luck that the part I could see had Godspeed in it. At about 3 AM, I decided I had enough of this, and went home. They were scheduled to film there for a couple more hours. So who knows what more might have gone on. Lastly, I just have to laugh at the Central City downtown map that doesnt actually have any street names, or the names of hotels etc. Just expects people to know what the street names are, and which hotel is which etc...... also, CC has several downtown Gas Stations..... while Vancouver itself only has ONE lol. There also was a van there for "Central City Crossover Comix & Collectibles" that seems to be owned by Barney Sands.... who is a character in the comics, as a neighbour of Barry as a kid. The Flash shot some scenes for episode 6x12 in a place called "The Permanent". It is actually used a fair bit by the film industry, including recently in the Arrowverse where Sargon The Sorcerer got KO'ed in Crisis On Infinite Earths. All the filming was inside, as you can see from the 1 photo below, they didnt have any sightlines in there. Unlike when I shot the Sargon scene, and ended up as a little black & beige blur in the corner of 1 of the windows. On this day, a few cast were in & around the set. I saw Grant Gustin at one point dressed in his Flash attire. I also saw Hartley Sawyer at a couple points, in both Elongated Man, and Ralph Dibny attire. Jesse L Martin was there as Joe West. Along with them were two people I wasnt expecting. First up, Alexa Barajas was back as Ultraviolet. But the one I didnt know I had photographed at the time, till after the fact, and thus, why I forgot I had these till now was.... Natalie Dreyfuss as Sue Dearbon. At the time I thought it might be her, as I knew she should be coming in that episode, and she got dropped off in a cast vehicle, but I wasnt entirely sure, so I just kept it aside till I knew more. Then forgot about them, until todays promo photo of her in the Cop jacket came out & I put the pieces together. So heres a really quick little post of pics from the cast going in & out of the set that day. I know this is a shorter than usual blog post, but I was just reminded I had these photos from the new promos that came out for the episode today. The Flash was on location for an episode of the 6th season a couple weeks ago in downtown Vancouver. It was a late night shoot, that started with severla cast members, including Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Jesse L Martin as Joe West, Candice Patton as Iris West Allen and Danielle Nicolet as Cecile Horton were on set at this location at varying points. With a lot of picture vehicles on set for the scene, along with the productions equipment, there was very little to actually see of the scenes shot. All I know of the scenes with the actors is that there was a scene where Barry & Iris walk across the gravel parking lot, first 1, then the other a second or two later. Another scene had Joe walking the opposite direction from where they walked to. Later on, the only scene you could see clearly at any point was with Joe standing on top of something and looking forward. A bit later, after the cast had left the lot, they did a huge stunt scene with an exploding car that I was there for, but sort of missed the original explosion as I believed it was going to be the truck driving towards us blowing up, and not a random car in the background. Luckily I had my phone taking photos at the same time I was video taping it, so I got SOME photos of the explosion. But my video, I only caught the after effect of it. Throughout the night, I walked around the set (in fact, while I did so one time, was when Grant, and Candice came over & met some fans. One particular fan was nice enough to let me use a couple of their photos of their interactions in my post here), and found 3 different city billboards they had covered up with Central City specific ads. One for CC Jitters, One for Big Belly Burger, and 1 for Ralph Dibny, along with a parking sign for a Central City parkade. I was most amused with the Dibny one for the fine print on it that states he "No longer performs exorcisms/ demon removal". I am curious, does this have something to do with an upcoming episode? Or, does this have something to do with Dibs in the old timeline? A little curious on that one. At the end of the night, a driving scene was done, that had them drive a vehicle down the street past those ads we saw along the street. The Flash was on location for the 8th episode of the season on Wednesday at B.C. Place, and Thursday & Friday nights, into Friday & Saturday mornings at Melville & Thurlow in downtown Vancouver. The first of those nights, the cast & crew of The Flash found themselves at B.C. Place Stadium. For those unfamiliar with the shows regular locations, this is where they go for exterior shots of S.T.A.R Labs. This night they had the set up further down the concourse than they usually use. Setting up on the west side of the building, as opposed to the east side, or the North West main concourse, as they have many times before. After some recent changes to the area in the past few years, that side is no longer accessible from the back end (the stadium used to just have a complete encompassing concourse that you could walk all the way around.... but now, the majority of the West & south west part of it is gone), so the only way to catch the filming in this area was either working in 1 of the offices that overlooked it, or, as me & 3 or 4 other fans that night did, go into Boston Pizza, and watch through their windows.... which even with that, was limited to just a few panes on the top floor. Because of this complicated set up, I did not stay too long that night, but I was there long enough to see they had Grant Gustin as The Flash and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Dr. Ramsey Rosso/ Bloodwork out there filming a scene where the pair are walking together up towards S.T.A.R. Labs. The pair did not seem to be in any type of conflict with each other, and it wasnt till after the fact when I was home and could see what I shot on a larger screen I noticed the details on Barrys suit (which you can see a bit better in the upcoming pics in this set... but this first set it is a bit tough to really tell), he has black marks on his logo, his gold ear wings, belt, and dark black fingertips. After they shot that scene, there seemed to be a long break, and so I left, as it was probably going to drag out for awhile, and I had another set that I thought might have better stuff to do that night to get to. What is happening to Barry? Is Bloodwork doing it? On Thursday night The Flash moved their unit a couple miles across downtown Vancouver to a block I have been to many a film set for, but not at the location they were shooting. Melville Street was home to a several story large building & parking lot that many shows used until just as recently as last season, but is now just a crater as something new is clearly being planned for that spot. On this night, the cast & crew were about 1/2 a block east of there in a little courtyard in front of a variety of small businesses that share the corner. The main scene of the evening had an unknown actor in The Flash suit taking the place of Grant Gustin who was off working cross over duty with several others on a different show. The Flash stand in did a scene with Sendhil in full Bloodwork make up, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, and later in the evening a scene was done with Danielle Panabaker in full Killer Frost attire. Each of the cast there had doubles on set too, but I rarely saw them working except for Grants, and at times the one for Cisco. The night was an all too quick reminder that summer is officially over, as strong winds that night brought the temperature down into the lower single digits celsius. The winds were so strong at points that equipment was knocked over a few times. I actually wondered if there was any point where they considered cancelling the rest of the night. As I said on the night one photos, you can see the details on The Flash suit a lot better here. With the Bloodwork dark vein look all over his logo, and gold trimmings. In the scene with the 3 of them, Cisco comes in with a gun (all the photos I got of that were out of focus, just something about the angle I had, and the light off the gun did not work for my camera), yells at Bloodwork, using the characters name, and then shoots the gun at the villain, causing him to fall to the ground. The Flash then zips over, grabs Cisco and pulls him over to Bloodwork. The trio then were crouched down too low to really see what was going on. At the lunch break Sendhil and Danielle, stopped to take photos and sign autographs for fans before heading off to eat. After lunch, Danielle did a scene that I think she was the only main cast on set for. All I can tell you about it is a lot of extras were running, and she runs in to the middle of the scene then vanished out of my view. Again, like the first night. I left before they wrapped. This time, because of the unexpectedly cold night from the strong wind. On night 3 the cast seemed to be back down to just Grant & Sendhil for the entire night. A woman I had never seen before worked with Sendhil later. More on that down below. The evening started off slow, a scene of The Flash zipping in front of a green screen was done, then a looooong break happened. When I came back to the set from working a different event, they had moved from the court yard out onto the street. When I first got there I instantly noticed a man that for the rest of the evening I referred to as "tall Abraham Lincoln" out there standing on stilts. While I never heard specifically what he was a stand in for, its a fair assumption (I hate assuming in posts on my site, but this seems like a safe time to do it) to think this is a stand in for Bloodwork when he is in full Bloodwork mode. The thing I noticed during the scene they shot with tall Abe was The Flash no longer had black marks all over his suit. Did The Flash finally break the control Bloodwork had over him? Or is this a scene from before it happens? The scene seemed to have The Flash using his speed to punch tall Abe all over. A bit later, they did a scene where it seems tall Abe gets the upper hand, as The Flash is thrown into a vehicle (obviously they had Cody Laudan do that part), and the impact of it completely causes the vehicle to be crushed. Then Grant came back in, to be The Flash seemingly being held by some type of force against the vehicle, having trouble moving off the vehicle. After Grant wrapped that scene, they did a scene with Sendhil and Meera Simhan. The scene had Ramsey in the middle of the street, clothes torn, looking angry, making a motion like he is about to hit someone, when he stops, to look at someone behind him. Its his mother. He then turns around, and a conversation happens between his mom and him. She moves towards him and gently puts her hands on his face and they share a couple moments interacting. In this scene there are no dark veins on Ramsey, he seems to be calmed down. Is his mom how The Flash & the team end up beating Bloodwork? In the season 6 promo where they introduce Bloodwork to everyone, they show him standing over his mothers grave. How does she return? The Flash will start shooting their portion of Crisis On Infinite Earths next week, someone I know on set was told Tuesday, and that about lines up with what I had down as their projected start date for it. Other shows are already on their portion of the Crisis episode. So you should check out my COIE blog section for posts on filming for that when I finally catch up to them. There could be scenes on other shows that pertain to Flash characters that wont be found in The Flash blog section. So keep up to date on them HERE EDIT - 12:40 PM - September 29, 2019 - video added at the bottom from rehearsals of 1 scene, and shooting another scene. AGAIN, REMINDER - Please adhere to the photo limits in the blog post posted linked in the red text paragraph above.
