Continuum shoots scenes for episode 3 of their final season with Rachel Nichols and Victor Webster9/17/2015 Since this episode is literally going to be on this weekend (if my timing is right) I better get these up I guess. Here are some shots of Rachel Nichols as Keira Cameron and Victor Webster as Carlos Fonnegra on the set of Continuum shooting a scene for episode 3 of the final season. I caught up to them shooting a few times in the last season, but some of the times, it was either indoors, or I was asked not to shoot it for spoiler reasons. I also ran into the cast of Continuum a couple times near their circus/set for the Vancouver Police station.
On 1 of those days, near the end of the shoot, my friend (who I unwittingly turned into 1 of the largest fans of this show by introducing him to it) and I ran into a few of the cast, including as you can see Rachel Nichols and Erik Knudsen. Funny, I had never seen Erik in the 1st three seasons of the show, but then met him 3 times in the final season, including my first ever time meeting him when I saw him and William B. Davis at the same time. It was like being stuck in some type of time warp almost. You can follow Continuum and their cast on social networking sites. THIS POST CONTAINS POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 13 OF SEASON 1 OF "IZOMBIE". If you do not wish to read or view possible spoilers from the show. Do not continue. . . . last warning . . Next Tuesday, the season 1 Finale of The CW hit zombie show from DC Comics Vertigo iZombie will air. Back during production, I caught them filming a few scenes in my neighbourhood throughout the season, but none more open than the ones for the finale. Earlier in the day, they shot a scene with Aleks Paunovic as Julien Dupont shooting a scene where he is rummaging thru Major Lillywhites truck and finds an envelope. crosses the street back to MeatCute with the envelope in his hands. They then shot scenes inside that included David Anders and others. I took a break from there as they shot these scenes that were all inside the restaurant. When I returned, they had already prepped the area for the final scene I would see shot of the show. We see Robert Buckley as Major Lillywhite has managed to escape the MeatCute freezer and is ready to kick some asses and take some names. Major moves towards the meat store with a shotgun and blows the side window of the store out. At that time I ran out of space on my memory card, and feeling I had just seen a pretty cool scene, I went back home. I wish now, knowing how things have played out, I would have stayed to see what happened next. Below are a few pics from the day, and a video of 1 of the takes of the shooting out of the window. iZombie finale airs June 9, 2015 on The CW THIS IS A RE-POST (Relocated from a former subsetrion of the site solely for FTWD blogs, but after no follow up materials to add to it, the section was re-purposed for another show, and this post was relocated here) I rarely am shocked by the absurdity of the film industry. I get it. A lot of egomaniacs and divas populate the industry. So when I see childish antics taking place by a production, or the actors themselves, it rarely phases me too much. I often get claims like "oh can you move, your in the shot" despite the camera facing the other way & I'm standing behind a Canada Post box in front of a Vancouver Police car outside a Skytrain station for a show set in the U.S. Absurd comes with the territory. Most of the time, I tell them "just dont BS me and I'll oblige" ...and I do. Productions like Arrow, Fringe, Psych and Continuum which have, or do shoot here have been so respectful and truthful with me, if they say "he can we have you move right now?" I don't even hesitate to accommodate their requests. They've earned that level of respect. Some other productions... well, I've more than once forced them to provide their permits to an officer to have me move, because THEY have NOT earned my respect. Safe to say FTWD will be finding me more challenging to work with than those productions I named earlier have based solely on their 1st day of shooting. So this should give you some idea how absurd the crew for the AMC companion series Fear The Walking Dead (aka - "Cobalt", and "Stalwart") has been when I tell you THEY were being beyond absurd. Lets not even count the fact they had extras wear massive raincoats over top of their wardrobes to avoid possibly being shot in them by photographers or fans. Lets not even take into account the 3 or 4 umbrellas that various crew members willingly were holding up to minimize what onlookers could see ON A PUBLIC CITY STREET of a show that was literally in its 1st few hours of production and has never aired a single second yet. The real kicker was talking with various crew who claimed they didn't know what they were working on, when you told them what it was, they would pretend that you were wrong, and when finally were unable to avoid lying anymore about it, would tell you outright they aren't allowed to talk about it. Or the 1 crew member who told me they wouldn't give him a call sheet, and he had to hand over his photo before work started. Now, those last 2 claims I cant confirm as its just 1 persons claim, but based on everything I saw outside of that, it seems plausible to me... which is the scary part. This production team is treating its crew like that, so it doesn't shock me they are treating the public so poorly. Now perhaps as time goes on, as does happen with many productions after they start off a bit militant (nothing as bad as this production though) they will chill out. But for now, this production is not a fan friendly, and it sounds like, not a workplace friendly, environment. Perhaps they forgot when they agreed to come here that this is Vancouver and not Atlanta. You come to Vancouver with an understanding, and that understanding is that the public will watch you film AND they have that right when you are out in public.... anyways... enough of this rant. Lets get on to what you all came here for. Pics and a scene description. Fear the Walking Dead shot scenes yesterday on a 1 block long completely surrounded on 3 sides street in downtown Vancouver. The scenes mostly seemed to entail crowds forming to protest something. Throughout the day, various cast shot various scenes in this alley, including Alycia Debnam Carey as "Alicia" and Frank Dillane as "Nick" with a 3rd actor who I have yet to identify. Cliff Curtis as "Travis" later shot a scene by himself off to the side with seemingly no other cast in the shot. After their lunch break more shooting with the mystery cast member that I couldn't identify happened, then later they shot scenes with Cliff & Elizabeth Rodriguez as "Liza" running towards the middle of the commotion. Also spotted on set yesterday was Kim Dickens as "Madison", as reported in this article on VanCityBuzz. The show will also star Mercedes Mason. I am pleased to also announce, despite the best efforts of the crew, so far, the cast have been exceptionally nice when I have met them. I have had a chance to meet Kim, Alycia and Curtis so far, and all 3 were terrific. Fear The Walking Dead (or whatever the hell it will be called by the time it airs....) will premiere on AMC June , 2015. With all new productions here. I just want to remind new viewers to my site. Please DO NOT remove water marks from photos if you re-post them to your blogs, tumblr, facebeook groups etc. They will be removed if found. Please credit the site when using the photos. You have permission to post SOME photos (3 to 6) in a post elsewhere, but not all. Link back to this post if you want people to see them all. THIS POST CONTAINS PHOTOS FROM AN UPCOMING EPISODE OF "iZOMBIE". If you do not want to read or view potential spoilers prior to its airing, please do not continue. . . . last warning . . Today, March 17, 2015 will see a new DC Comics series come to life on The CW network as "iZombie" debuts. Filmed in Vancouver, the series will feature former "Once Upon A Time" recurring star Rose McIver as Olivia "Liv" Moore, a Seattle med student turns into a zombie after attending a party and gets a job as a coroner to feed her brain eating. When she eats a victims brain she absorbs memories from the deceased, which helps to solve their murders. On the day of shooting that I attended, there was not a lot to the scene except that Liv comes out of an alley and heads towards the Seattle Police station before being sidetracked by a vehicle that gets her attention. Malcolm Goodwin as "Clive Babineaux", a police detective that knows Livs secret, was also on set this night, but I never saw him in the scene while I was there.... or, if he was in it, it was out of my view. But I did manage to catch him and Rose chatting before they started shooting. The show also stars David Anders, Robert Buckley and Rahul Kohli. with recurring guest stars Aly Michalka, Molly Hagan, Chad Rook, Nick Purcha, Bradley James, Elise Gatien and Aleks Paunovic filling out the secondary cast. Tomorrow the release of Fifty Shades Of Grey will happen worldwide & fans will line up to see their favorite adult themed book-turned-movie characters on the big screen. In late 2013 and early 2014 the production filmed here in Vancouver. Lots of on location scenes were done, and despite the studio treating it like it was 12 Years A Slave or Slumdog Millionaire with an absurd amount of security focused solely on trying to block people from watching them shoot IN PUBLIC LOCATIONS... some photos still managed to get taken from time to time. Here is a new set. Along with my past blog post here. In this set, we see a few scenes being shot. First there was a short shoot one morning that had a scene where Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey was driving thru Stanley Park. There was almost nothing to this scene, but I shot a couple pic sof the car driving by. Later they moved to a location in Gastown to shoot 2 different scenes. First scene had Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele standing in the pouring rain while Christians driver, played by Max Martini drives away after dropping her off. The production learned a valuable lesson about filming in this area, as 1 of the residents in the building next door did his best to disrupt filming. There is a lot of people in the area who live with a variety of mental disabilities and at least once or twice a year I see 1 or 2 of them get angry at film sets for being there and do a lot to try & disrupt them. Eventually they managed to get the scene completed. Later they did another scene, this one saw Christian escorting Anastasia out of a building and showing her a gift he got her. Another actor was also in the scene off to the side, out I never found out who it was... hes pictured below if anyone knows, feel free to let me know. About a month later (February 14th oddly enough) I caught FSOG out 1 more time. They shot a scene where Ana is out running. It was a short & quick scene. Maybe did 5 or 6 takes total & they were gone...and that would be the last I would see of the 50 Shades cast till they came back for re-shoots. On February 14, 2015 one of the most hyped films to be shot in Vancouver in some time will hit theatres. No, not The Interview. That's already been released. I am talking about Fifty Shades Of Grey. The adult themed movie with Once Upon A Time star Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. Shooting, which started back in December 2013 was pretty secretive for much of its main shoot in Vancouver. Although many fans found the set, as did many paps. Viewing the shoots was less simple as a team of umbrellas and various crew doing everything including holding out their jackets to the side tried preventing anyone from seeing much. Of course, this was not 100% effective. At best, I would call it 25% effective. Eventually, over time, those of us that went out often for their sets managed a few pics of them filming from time to time. I have several sets from the shoot, as well as the re-shoot from a few months ago. I will post them here over the next week or so leading up to the release of FSOG in theatres next week. Here is my 1st set. Opening day of filming with Jamie Dornan ( Dakota Johnson was also in the scene apparently, just never could see her from any angle I had) shooting as Christian Grey in a restaurant. This second set, shot back in late 2013/early 2014 sees Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele coming out of "Grey House". Also on set that evening is "Kick Ass" star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, dropping in to hang out with his wife, FSOG director Sam Taylor-Johnson. There will be a couple more 50 Shades of Grey blogs coming up in the next few days. Fifty Shades Of Grey is in theatres everywhere February 14, 2015 This week, Christmas Day in fact, a movie that filmed in Vancouver about popular 1950s painter Margaret Keane, and her fraudster ex-husband Walter Keane titled "Big Eyes" will open in theatres across the country. Director Tim Burton (Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands) brought his vision for the film to Vancouver to film the majority of the project. Academy Award winners Amy Adams (American Hustle) and Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained, Inglourious Basterds) brought to life the characters of Margaret & Walter for this film. The film also stars Jason Schwartzman, Terence Stamp, Krystin Ritter and Danny Huston. I caught up to the production a few times over their time here. The 1st time included a large block long set up in historic Gastown to look like the 1950s in San Francisco. The scenes seem to be between Jason Schwartzman as "Ruben" an art gallery owner that Waltz's Walter Keane character is seen across the street mocking in front of his own gallery. A seemingly endless array of 1950s era cars were also brought in to give the proper look to the scene. Later on in the shoot I would catch the production in the area near the Vancouver Art Gallery, then in the art gallery in its final days. There I would get my 1st look at Amy Adams in her Margaret wardrobe as she walked to & from set one day. I also bumped into Terence Stamp (Superman) one day near the set when he showed up for lunch. I also managed to meet Tim Burton one of the days, as the iconic director stopped & signed for me, and took a photo with despite his busy schedule and severe cold/flu he had at the time which actually caused production to be halted for a couple days. Big Eyes hits theatres December 25, 2014. |
