Early today, the cast & crew shot scenes for season 4 episode 1 at the Vancouver Art Gallery (just across the street in fact from where they shot some of the season 3 finale). On set today was Melissa Benoist, Jesse Rath and Mehcad Brooks. This post is going to focus on the later scene with Melissa & Jesse. (the earlier scene photos will be added later). The scene featured here included Melissa Benoist dressed up as her lead character Supergirl. This was the first time for Melissa to be on set as the Woman Of Steel this season in public. After a lengthy Broadway run that saw her not return to the show till a few weeks into the shows filming schedule, she had some catching up to do. Today Supergirl was filming a scene with Jesse Rath as Brainiac 5 where she lands in a crater, before getting up, speaking to Brainy for a moment & then flying away again as Brainy & spectators look on There was another scene a bit later that saw Supergirl handing a balloon to a girl who had her balloon float away from her. They then went inside to shoot scenes inside the Vancouver Art Gallery. Also on set today, was David Harewood. But not to film as Martian Manhunter or J'onn J'onzz, but to shadow the director so he can get the hang of how to direct for an episode he'll direct later this season. When I have even MORE time, there will be a bit of video from todays shoot to add as well. THIS BLOG POST IS FOR SUPERGIRL SEASON 3 EPISODE 3 OR 4 AND MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE EPISODE. If you have not seen the episode, and do not want to see or read possible spoilers about it prior to seeing it, do not continue reading the article or viewing the photos below. . . . last warning . . The cast & crew shot scenes for the season 3 in a couple spots in the area around the Vancouver Train Station/Greyhound Bus station in August. In the daytime, they shot a scene in the park across the street from the station with Floriana Lima and Carlos Bernard. Lime of course as Maggie Sawyer, while Bernard was playing the part of her father on the show. The first scene they shot was 1 where Maggie gives her father an old photo, before she walks away on him, leaving him to ponder what she gave/said to him. Later in the day they moved across the street to shoot a scene where the paid were having a bit of a heated debate. The jist of it was Maggie telling him how things have been for her since he left, and he essentially replied with a tone of, its been hard for everyone. In an odd moment, Bernards character makes reference to the Donald Trump claim that he is going to build a wall. Whether the Supergirl world President Olivia Marsdin has the same ideas we dont know yet. Perhaps the writers didnt think that through when they made the very political statement in their script.... or perhaps, they have found a way of making it relevant to the shows storylines? We will have to wait & see. Later that night, they moved around the corner from there to shoot a scene at a warehouse with Melissa Benoist and David Harewood doing a couple quick scenes, including one where the pair are sitting in a car together, and drive out of a garage. For whatever reason Supergirl is wearing a scarf in the scene. Why they are going for a drive, who knows? But the last shot they did of the night seemed to be one of the viewpoint of the car, looking off into the distance in the sky.... so perhaps they see something up there.... or the car can fly. In either case, it was a scene there wasnt much luck seeing as they had it mostly covered up by the building on 1 side, and the fenced off lot on the other side..... so the few photos you see below really is all I saw of it that night. If you have not seen the episode, and do not want to see or read possible spoilers about it prior to seeing it, do not continue reading the article or viewing the photos below. . . . last warning . . The cast & crew shot scenes for the season 3 premiere in a courtyard sandwiched in between the building of the busiest public transit spot in Vancouver, and the former building of Vancouvers two major newspapers. While I dont really know much of what went on in the earlier scene, it included a massive Supergirl banner stating "Girl Of Steel" on it, and had Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor on the stage. Vancouver fans of the show came out in force, as there was crowds of 50+ at the set all day long, and at a couple points about 100 fans were out. Later in the day, scenes were shot with Floriana Lima as Maggie Sawyer and Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, along with David Harewood as Hank Henshaw and Melissa Benoist as Supergirl. All I could really make out from the latter shoot, was that something was attacking the Supergirl day event, and Melissa and David were right in the middle of taking it on. Throughout the day, the 4 cast who arent Melissa, all came over and gave their time to meet fans & take photos and sign autographs. While the lead of the show hastily speed walked away from awaiting fans arriving and departing the set. Unfortunately, this is the standard for her at the set. Luckily for the show, the rest of the cast does their best to accommodate for their fan unfriendly star.
