Last week I found the Fringe set in downtown Vancouver.
As you have likely already seen from my previous blog post, Peter seems to have found some trouble in the episode they were filming. Today, I show you that being an Observer is SERIOUS BUSINESS! *stern face*. Below I have photos of Captain Windmark (Michael Kopsa) and another Observer who I sincerely did not catch the name of the character, or the actor ( feel free to correct me on either) showing that there is absolutely no fun & games with being an Observer. Loyalists, you way want to look away...this may be uncomfortable for you to see. Just look how serious & rigid these monsters are.

THIS BLOG MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR A SEASON 5 EPISODE OF "FRINGE". Do not continue reading or viewing photos if you do not want to see any spoilers.
. . LAST WARNING . . Last week I saw several scenes being filmed for the FOX hit sci-fi show FRINGE. While I do have some other photos from the day to post from a different set of scenes, I felt the 1st batch to put up, HAD to be the set below. Oddly enough, I didnt know what I was filming at the time. I was across the street, and in the pouring rain, I didnt really notice the finer details of what I shot till later when I got home & looked at the pics on my computer. First, here is what I SAW in the scene. Peter Bishop (Joshua Jackson) is walking up a street, I see him stagger some, either he is groggy or drunk (what? Your telling me its not conceivable Peter would have a few too many 1 night with the weight that he has on his shoulders?) into an alley. Thats all the scene is. At the time, I really didnt think much of it...... THEN I SAW MY PHOTOS. The scene Joshua was doing, where he is stumbling along, makes that much more sense when you realize Peter has blood on him. His head has a cut, his hand, soaked in blood, and he is carrying a knife. The question now is, who did Peter get into an altercation with? Was this a native on native killing? Or did Peter finally take down 1 of the Observers? Guess we will have to wait awhile. They were filming episode 9 at the time of this shoot (some said it was 8.. but I was lead to believe its 9). Anyways, here are the photos from the scene. As ALWAYS. DO NOT EDIT THE PHOTOS. If you post them to your site, facebook, tumblr, livejournals etc withut the tags still attached, I will have them removed. Fringe was out at UBC back in Mid-August to film scnes for season 5. It was the 2nd time in about 4 days I had come across their set.
1st thing I noticed was the Observer posters on the clock tower. As I got closer I saw a police state looking check point guarded building which is believed to be Harvard University as I was told by those there. I never actually saw any filming with cast that day, but I did run into Anna Torv (Olivia), John Noble (Walter & Jasika Nicole (Astro..err..Astrid) after their days were wrapped. On set, I saw Georgina Haig (Etta) & Joshua Jackson (Peter) arrive to a later shoot. Georgina and Joshua both had markings under their eyes like those of loyalists, Joshua was even dressed up as 1 of The Observers loyalist soldiers. Tonight, season 5, episode 2 airs on FOX. Check your local listings for the time in your area. THIS BLOG POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR FRINGE EPISODE 501. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO SEE OR READ ABOUT ANY POSSIBLE SPOILERS....DO NOT CONTINUE. , , , Last Warning . . So back in July, the production for the 5th & final season of Fringe started. Their first location of the season was in the very popular Stanley Park as I reported in my earlier blog post http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/7/post/2012/07/fringe-shoots-some-polivia-scenes-for-season-5-episode-1-on-1st-day-of-filming.html By the time I got to set they were working on a scene involving Anna Torv (Olivia Dunham), Joshua Jackson (Peter Bishop) & "Abigail" (young Etta, I have yet to confirm if the name I heard is correct as no listing of her seems to be anywhere yet - NOTE Abagail Hardwick is her name) doing a scene where Peter sees Observers coming across the field & he yells out to Etta to come to him. Obviously, you have seen the far better camera work & dramatically edited version in the Fringe trailers put out by FOX so far to promote the season. But I took 1 shot as well. Below is that video. I apologize if you dont like my camera work. I'm not afterall, a professional cameraman or using a real video camera. ** recommended viewing - right click & pick "TOGGLE FULL SCREEN" MODE to see entire video frame ** ** YOU MAY OF COURSE POST A LINK TO THIS POST ON YOUR SITE/BLOG. DO NOT HOWEVER TRY TO STEAL THIS VIDEO & RE-POST IT ON YOUTUBE, TUMBLR, FACEBOOK OR ANY OTHER BLOGS OR SITES WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. I WILL HAVE THEM TAKEN DOWN. I WILL POST IT ON YOUTUBE NEXT WEEK WHEN TIME PERMITS** A couple weeks ago, I ran into Fringe on location, shooting the 1st episode since they took an unplanned 2 week hiatus to let John Noble overcome a sleeping disorder he had.
This location was at the Terminal City Ironworks building, which practically every production has used at some point. It was also the day that the 1st ever Fringe fan event www.thefringeevent.com was starting, so many of the fans who had flown in for it, also made it to the set...and I can say, might have been the most well behaved bunch of fans I've ever encountered on a set. I managed to get autographs throughout the day from Josh Jackson, Jasika Nicole, Georgina Haig & John Noble on this day. John Noble, took the time to chat with the fans & assured us all that he was finally ok & ready to get back to work. He also answered my question about the fan made "get well soon" video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuazM2QLqV0 that was done for him by fans. He said he saw it, and was impressed by the outpouring of support. Jasika also chatted with the group for a bit. I saw Josh before the group formed, so I am not sure if he later came over & chatted with them, but he was his typical friendly self when I saw him. Georgina was seemingly shocked someone wanted her autograph, but still came over to sign & was pleasant in the interaction. As far as the scene, not much I can say since it was all done indoors. Josh, Jasika seemed to have earlier scenes, and John & Georgina seemed to join in a couple hours later. Heres a few pics of the cast on set that day... I will have a few more from another shoot a few days later eventually, but with a big travel week for me coming up next week, I have a lot of work to do right now prepping for that...so it might not be for a couple weeks or a month. Fringe videos from season 2 - Lance Reddick and Anna Torv, and Josh Jackson with Anna Torv.8/19/2012 Recently, going thru old files on my external hard drive, I found a series of short videos I shot back in Season 2 of FRINGE. The scenes in these videos are for episode 210 "Grey Matters". The first 2 videos are of Lance Reddick & Anna Torv (Philip Broyles & Anna Torv) doing a scene in Victory Square. The second set of videos is from scenes where Joshua Jackson & Anna Torv (Peter Bishop & Olivia Dunham) race to a location looking for Walter. A few pics of Fringe star Anna Torv returning from San Diego Comic-Con last month.
As always, she was terrific with the regulars, signing everything we asked of her. Those autographs will eventually be in the Fringe autographs section here http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/fringe-autographs.html Production for the hit series was recently halted for 2 weeks as various cast members dealt with different issues from minor to more serious. Thankfully, it seems the cast & crew are back at work finally. This weekend, if you are in the Vancouver area, there is still a few tickets available for the 1st ever Fringe fan event. Check http://www.thefringeevent.com/ for more info. So here is the pics... |
