Arrow shoots a couple scenes for a season 5 episode 511. Stephen Amell, Rick Gonzalez, Echo Kellum and newcomer Juliana Harkavy on set.

Back on November 8, 2016 I finally caught up with the cast & crew of "Arrow" shooting a scene in season 5. Over the past two seasons the shows has found itself out on location downtown less and less as they have started relying hravily on shooting in & around their studios to save money (and conveniently, keep it out of the sight of the public).
On this day, they shot a scene in the Smile Diner (a location thats been used by many shows (& 1 iconic Kokanee commercial when they kill off the Kokanee Ranger) over the years. On this day, it was transformed into a Big Belly Burger. As far as I know, this is the first time on any of the shows that there has been an actual on location place for a Big Belly Burger. On this particular day, it was a BBB in Hub City. At a table we found Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Rick Gonzalez as Rene Ramirez and Echo Kellum as Curtis Holt chatting while a waitress from BBB brought them their orders. Notably absent was Joe Dinicol, and of course Madison McLaughlin, who hasnt filmed in several weeks now (is she M.I.A or is she D.O.A?)
Maybe the one thing I hate more than shooting night scenes is shooting day scenes on a busy street through glass. The amount of reflection off them is atrocious. But you have to work with whats given to you in this hobby/business, so I did. Not much to take from the scene, except that they were talking about .... something. Could it be the new member of the team they were out in Hub City looking for? Or could it be about how Artemis isnt in the scene? I guess we will have to wait to see.
After their shoot, I was the recipient of some good fortune, as the transportation vehicle that picked up Echo and Rick in a compound like parking lot behind the restaraunt, had the misfortune of getting blocked in at the end of their alley as they tried to leave by a delivery vehicle. With the window rolled down, I asked Echo if he could sign, and he actually got out of the vehicle and signed. Shortly after a crew member that was also in the vehichle got out, and I noticed Rick Gonzalez sitting in the back. I got him to sign too and then moved along only to run into Stephen Amell coming back from the lunch truck a couple moments later, and got him to sign a few items too. I then headed off for a bit since I knew they were going to lunch break for a couple hours.
When I returned they had moved to an alley that leads into the alley behind the restaraunt they were at. In the alley was the "Green Arrow" (never saw him standing or from the front, so unsure if it was Stephen or his new stunt double.) and 2 actresses both dressed the same. One was Juliana Harkavy, the newest addition to the Arrowverse as "Tina", and the other, her stunt double. Just like the Green Arrow I saw, I never saw either of them from the front, so unsure which was which. Shortly after they all moved into a small parking lot off the alley that was impssobile to get any view of and they shot scenes were GA tries to convince Tina that there is a better way to do things. This is essentially the START of her being brought into Team Arrow I think.
Included with the pics of the cast on set, is some cool pics from the exterior and interior of the Big Belly Burger location before the crews started tearing it down.
After a couple takes, I realized there was little to nothing to see there and headed home.
Arrow airs Wednesday nights on The CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada.

THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS PHOTOS AND A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SCENES SHOT FOR EPISODE 423 OF "ARROW". If you have not seen the episode yet, and do not want to see or read any possible spoilers, do not continue with this article.
Arrow shot scenes for the season 4 finale in mid-April in downtown Vancouver with several cast and their stunt team on set..... and a WHOLE LOT OF EXTRAS.
The two day shoot at the often used Oceanic Plaza near Burrard and Hastings had Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk there with a bunch of his ghosts taking on Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen / Green Arrow, and a few of his friends...and civilians.
Also seen on set were David Ramsey as John Diggle / Spartan, Audrey Marie Anderson as Lyla Michaels, and SOMEONE dressed in a Black Canary outfit.
I say "someone" because anyone that was there who managed to set eyes on her only did so for a brief moment here or there. The 1 and only time she was out in the open was walking back from a food truck, and when another set blogger and myself moved down the block to get a closer look, an over zealous security guy decided to act like he was saving lives from terrorist sniper fire and was purposely trying to impede our views.... thus why I only got 1 pretty blurry pic of her. What I WILL say is, the outfit is VERY Laurel BC, and NOT Sara Lance or Evelyn Sharp looking, as you can see from the mask. Did the producers pull a fast one on everyone & lie about her death being permanent? I'm inclined to believe no. I think shes still dead. Why this Black Canary look was on set, we WILL have to wait & see.
The scene, which took up a large part of the block to shoot, consisted of a few scenes that I suspect will all fall together in the end., First 1 I saw was where Damian & Oliver battle it out as Oliver seems to crawl out of some type of makeshift memorial for the dead in the Havenrock attacks, & it looks like Darhk is getting the upper hand. The next night was the big fight scene. Hundreds of extras, some ghosts, some civilians, faced off in the middle of the street with Darhk and Oliver right in the thick of it. With so many fight scenes taking place, the stunt team had a lot of work those two nights and I honestly saw them on set more than the actors on the 2nd night. Kudos to them as always, especially since they had to work till late into a Fraturday both nights.
During the lunch break on the first night, I FINALLY had the good fortune of meeting Neal McDonough. Such a nice guy, as he signed my photos eve though 1 of the crew attempted at first to prevent it, and even signed 1 for a fan visiting from Arizona who knew him from another project as well. This would turn out to be my LAST autographs of the season for Arrow. Solid way to go out.
As I said, another set blogger was there, and you can see his photos HERE (hes got some pretty good ones from angles I didn't have).
Arrow season finale will be on Wednesday May 25, 2016 on The CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada.

THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS A NOTABLE SPOILER FOR ARROW EPISODE 409 "Dark Waters". If you have not seen this episode and do no not want to see or read any possible spoilers prior to viewing the episode, please do not continue.
So, as promised. When this blog post with the photo of Olicity kissing hit 15,000 views (took you 7 days, I predicted 3.... guess you didn't want this as bad as you say you did), I'd post video of the scene. A scene by the ways that a certain faction of the internet have been quick to jump to conclusions about (especially after the near slip up in episode 404 when Thea asks felicity why she isn't wearing "it"). Surprise Surprise they were not wrong
In a scene shot in front of a variety of other cast including Paul Blackthorne, Katie Cassidy and Charlotte Ross (I believe David Ramsey and Willa Holland as well, but I never actually saw them there... but heard them referenced to being there by crew) Oliver Queen (played by Stephen Amell) proposes to his Team Arrow techie/girlfriend Felicity Smoak (played by Emily Bett Rickards) in front of a bunch of supporters of Oliver at a Mayoral Candidate rally. After this scene, they shot a scene of the couple leaving and getting into a limo.
The crew tried keeping the public much further back than most Arrow shoots. This is a show that's usually been quite accepting of fans watching their shoots, but on this night they took extra precautions, including buying up the entire city park so that no one, including the dozens of locals who walk their dogs thru their daily could even go thru and had no less than 6 Vancouver Police there to enforce it. So, my only vantage point of this scene was from about 200 yards away. The video is a bit grainy (ok, a lot grainy), dark and obviously will look much better on TV as a finished product. But here it is... the first look at The Proposal.

Despite the fact that I have been quite public about how the Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak "ship" known as "Olicity" is ruining Arrow, I know at least a few of you who still haven't angrily vilified follow my blog posts.
So, tonight there was a scene shot. A couple kiss in the scene in front of a crowd of supporters at a rally.
The couple Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak.
Now due to where they filmed the scene, and the lighting and the time of night... photos from it are well.... shitty. It was about 200 yards away (imagine 2 consecutive football fields) in the dark, and with my $500 camera. Soooo, yeah, of course they are fuzzy. But hey, I was the only blogger that bothered to stick around and photograph this for you all. So your welcome?
There will be a more detailed post on the entire days filming when I have more time. But for now, an Olicity shot (albeit pretty grainy) for now of their kissing scene tonight.
NOTE - removing the watermarks from the photo in use on other sites will result in it being taken down, and depending what the hosting sites policies are, could cost you any accounts you have with the site(s). Its HERE for FREE.
Better late than never I suppose.
I do suck at keeping up on uploading videos, soooo its no shock that heres some never before seen video from me on the set of Arrow from March 2014.
In the scene we see Colton Haynes playing the part of Mirakuru influenced Roy Harper as he takes out a couple of SCPD officers.
Arrow starts work on season 4 (sadly without Colton as a regular) next week. Arrow returns this fall to The CW in the U.S. and CTV in Canada.
Here are some photos I posted back when I shot this scene with Colton and Bex Taylor-Klaus.
Arrow shoots scenes for the season 3 finale with Katrina Law and Katie Cassidy in downtown Vancouver
THIS IS A BLOG POST for the Arrow season 3 finale, episode 323. If you have not seen this episode yet and do not want to see possible spoilers prior to viewing the episode. Do not continue reading or viewing the photos.
Arrow was filming the finale for season 3 a few weeks ago in downtown Vancouver.
While the big reveal scene that was shot VERY late in the night wasnt seen by many, and shot by no one including me. The more public shoot earlier in the night was seen by lots of people and photographed by quite a few.
It saw Katrina Law as Nyssa Al Ghul (or is that Nyssa Queen now?) teaming up with Katie Cassidy as Black Canary aka Laurel lance walking thru a Starling City park looking for trouble when the find it in the form of a knife wielding bad guy. What this guest actors role is in the whole grand scheme of the episode, I am not too sure. But Black Canary takes him down while Nyssa seemingly sits by watching.
A bit later in the night they shot a scene that only a very very small handful of people saw and they didnt want anyone photographing. It had David Ramsey as John Diggle in the scene along with Willa Holland as Thea Queen... or... something else. Since the spoiler is now out there on what this years terrible event is that will happen in Starling city, guess its safe to tell you the virus makes it to Starling City. Diggle is chasing the person with it when they seemingly get away. Diggle finds himself in a bit of trouble, and is saved by a costumed vigilante who shoots 3 arrows into an attacker. Since we have already seen Thea in a mini-Dark Archer outfit earlier this season you obviously have figured out who the archer is. Since you also saw her get a certain red jacket recently. You can probably guess what her new uniform colour will be. Diggle looks up at her and states "nice threads" and thats the end of the scene.
Arrow and several of the cast are up for May madness this year. Voting is going on right now on different match ups every couple days HERE.

Arrow season finale airs tonight May 12, 2015 on The CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada.
Arrow shoots the final scene for episode 318 with Colton Haynes and Paul Blackthorne in downtown Vancouver
Better late than never? Right? well, this year I have often fallen behind on getting blog posts up in time. Another example... this post.
Arrow shot scenes for episode 318 awhile ago in downtown Vancouver and did so with the blatant knowledge they were giving up a huge spoiler to those who witnessed it.
One of the things I LOVE about Arrow so far is their complete disregard for the public seeing their potential spoilers. While other productions in town treat insignificant filler scenes like they are filming the climactic scene in an Oscar Award winning movie and react to those scenes being posted publicly by onlookers by curling up into the fetal position in a corner and wetting themselves while crying, the writers and producers of Arrow seem to accept and, at times, revel in the fact the public comes to see their big scenes.
On this particular spoiler riddled scene, which aired in last weeks episode 318 "Public Enemy", Paul Blackthorne as Captain Quentin Lance was shooting a scene with Colton Haynes, but instead of being dressed as Roy Harper or Arsenal, he was dressed as.... The Arrow.
Of course, knowing now what the scene was for, it makes sense. But at the time, seeing this scene shot, everyone was pretty much standing around going "what the fuck is going on?".
i'll admit, not having of course seen the episodes that would lead up to this scene yet play out (it was filmed BEFORE the arc of Captain Lance hating Team Arrow again) I thought this was some type of "trick" scene that the captain was in on.... but nope, it certainly was not.
Arrow is off this week, but returns next Wednesday with a new episode on The CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada
