THIS BLOG POST IS FOR A "THE FLASH" SEASON 8 EPISODE 14, & MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE SEASON. They have filmed close to this same spot before, when I filmed them last season doing a scene with the Godspeeds in the daytime. It also happens to be across the street from where I saw them last about a week and a half ago. On this day, they had the front of the station made to look like "Central City Savings & Loans" bank. Before I get into describing the scene. If you are a regular reader, you know I never ask this, but if you do go to other places of the internet to discuss these photos. PLEASE LINK TO THIS ARTICLE. I went there on crutches with a bad knee, in the rain, on almost no sleep to give you content. I'd like to see the time, and discomfort rewarded. When you just say "credit to Canadagraphs" that doesnt add a lot of views to here. Most people want a direct link. If they have to google where they came from, they generally dont put in the effort. So please link to the article. The first scene of the day had a pair of Central City Police at Central City Savings & Loans confronting currently unknown actor, dressed like a cross between a Stormtrooper, a nordic sniper, and a discount ATOM. They draw their guns on him, and he reacts by putting down his bags he seemingly got from the bank, and walks over & "throws" something, that later on I see is a full police car. He does this, 1 handed, and with almost no effort. The cops scatter, and the villain goes back to his bags. A bit later, the 3 main cast for the day come to work on the scene. Grant Gustin as The Flash, Danielle Nicolet as Cecile Horton, and Kayla Compton as Allegra Garcia showed up to do a scene with the 3 of them confronting this mystery villain. For most of the filming I was unable to see everything going on because of sightlines. But I did get to see a couple takes eventually, and from what I can tell, they are dealing with this guy, Allegra tries to do something to him with her powers, which sends her back, and onto the ground out cold. The villain then confronts Cecile. Cecile seems to go through a variety of emotions, including a point where she grabs her head as if shes having a headache. Barry then eventually zips in (no idea where he was all this time.) Cecile then helps Allegra up, Allegra seems to need Cecile to help hold her up, while Barry taps his ear, as if hes contacting someone probably at S.T.A.R. Labs. Then the scene ends. Grant then left for lunch, while Danielle & Kayla continued doing different angles of the scene that they were in. Eventually they headed to lunch, and I left at that point, as I was physically drained by then, and although I wanted to stick around for the post-lunch scene, which was going to including blowing up that Police car that got "tossed" earlier, I just didnt have it in me to do it. THIS BLOG POST IS FOR A "THE FLASH" SEASON 8 EPISODE (I think its 13, but could be 12 or 14)?? , & MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE SEASON. If you have not seen the episode, and do not want to see or read possible spoilers about it prior to seeing it, do not continue reading the article or viewing the photos below. . . . last warning . . . If you are confused on how many you can post, ASK FIRST, and I will let you know. The Flash was on location for the season 8 in an area I shot them just last season, the courtyard in front of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Last time they were here, it was for a 6 on 1 Godspeed vs Flash battle, that turned into a 6 vs 6 Godspeed battle. This time, no Godspeeds to be seen.... but there was a couple unexpected things. The first scene of the night was a stunt scene, with the double for Danielle Panabaker, as Killer Frost doing a scene where she falls to the ground. Before I saw the stunt woman in her full wardrobe, I thought she had to be another character, because of the hairstyle. But then I saw her up in the air, wearing the full Frost wardrobe, and I was quite confused. In the scene, Frost falls to the ground, and I cant really say if she landed safely, or not.... but based off the next set of scenes they did that night, it seems this fall was not a good one. After the stunt was over, the crew spent quite a while setting up for the next scene, with the stand ins re-enacting the scene that would come up.At the time I did not know who the characters in the scene were going to be, because the 1 double was laying down on the ground ( I was assuming it was Frost based off other facts I knew at the time), and the other was of an older man. While there is no specific requirements for what a stand in has to look like, they generally find someone with a sort of similar look/build. I decided to go walk over to where Danielles trailer was to see if there was any activity going on there to figure out if my hunch of the character on the ground was right, and sure enough moments later she came out to go to set. I chatted with her briefly there, and got her to sign an autograph before she went to set.... and thats when I noticed, HER hair was the same colour as the stunt doubles. Killer Frost has a new hairdo. A bit more time passed, before theyw ere finally ready to do this scene, and I was even more shocked when I saw a man in a red costume with some gold on it, specifically on the boots there. Grant Gustin was on set as The Flash. First time I had seen him since Armageddon, and I wasnt expecting him there, because as I stated earlier, that double, the older man, is NOT the one he has used for the last couple seasons. But now I knew the scene to be Frost on the ground, and The Flash kneeling over top of her checking on her. Unfortunately, the angles for this scene were not great, and I did not get a lot of time to find a good angle, as they only did 2 or 3 takes of the scene, and were done. Grant honestly spent 3X more time hanging around talking with crew, and Danielle before & after the scenes, than actually shooting. That was it for Grants involvement that night.... and they were moving on to the final scene of the night. By the time they set up the 3rd scene of the night, I was really hoping this one wouldnt be long, as I was really cold by then. The final scenes they were going to do for the night, consisted of Danielle (and for a very breif moment, her double) doing a scene with a currently unknown actor (if anyone knows FOR SURE who it is, let me know to credit them properly), in an all grey wardrobe. The whole time I saw him on set, he never took his mask off, so I cant say who it is. I do know, at 1 point in the scene he is wearing something on his chest that seems like a disc of some type, up near his heart. In the scene, Frost gets up off the ground, turns around, walks over to the guy, grabs this disc off his chest, and the grey mystery character does a long drawn out scene of hims seeming to be in pain, or dying from this action, aaaand that was it. When I finally decided to leave, they were still in the process of prepping to do 1 more scene, but it was with the same 2 actors, so I called it a night, and left as I knew there wasnt likely to be time for them to film the scene they were setting up with those 2 at that time, then set up an entirely new scene in teh time they had left to be there. The Flash was on location for the season 8 in an area I have never seen anyone filming in previously in the downtown core, which is pretty rare (someone may have been there before, I personally just didnt know about it). At the beginning, they had Jesse L Martin as Joe West there doing a scene with someone we heard was coming back (if you keep your ear to the ground on what main websites were posting about the show) Rick Cosnett was back as Eddie Thawne. To begin, they rush in to the area in their police car. Then Eddie goes running off with his gun out, while Joe stays behind. In their scene, a man comes out of a jewellery store just covered in jewellery. Joe & the crook then have a stand off, where the crook tells Joe he has a real gun with real bullets, while Eddie was off to the side hiding behind a tree. Then 2 more characters come in. Jordan Fisher as Bart Allen, and Jessica Parker Kennedy as Nora West Allen show up. Something startles them. They then have a debate about what to do. Then Jordan rushes in, and does something to the crook that takes the gun out of his hands, and Joe goes over and arrests the guy, and Eddie comes in to collect the gun off the ground. That was more or less everything they shot. Because of the order they shot, and angles they shot.... I dont really know the exact point where pieces overlapped. At the end of my time there, they shot 1 more scene with a mystery woman (I thought at 1st it could be Britnie Oldford as Peek-A-Boo... but wasnt 100% sure. Kinda dont think it is though.) standing behind a car with a couple other people. Only reason I dont think she was an extra is because main hair & make up team worked on her, and she had a costumes jacket for the weather. They were filming in the exact same spot I caught them a couple cross overs ago for Elseworlds where Flash & Barry, in opposite costumes, teamed up with Superman & Supergirl to beat Amazo. Last night, the scene only had 2 actors, but the spoiler from it is 1 that has garnered even more attention than I think that 1 did. Grant Gustin as The Flash did a scene with Tony Curran as human form of Despero. In the battle, Grant seems to emerge from out of a cloud of smoke, while Despero is on the ground. At one point Despero does something that causes a car to explode, but much of the fight seems to have Despero on the ground. For once, The Flash seems to have the upper hand. That was all there really was to the scene. I cant recall anything else of note. So thats it for this blog pos..... wait, no, I think I remember something else. Something that definitely stuck out. Yeah yeah, it was also cold out. So cold in fact, that I for once quit earlier than I had planned because I wasnt prepared for the temperature drop there was. So yeah, thats it for this report. I will have more when some more filming happens. Nothing much to this report. Wait, did I... did I forget to mention Barry had a change to his wardrobe? Silly me. Uhhh, yeah, so he had.... GOLD BOOTS! After several seasons of people begging & pleading with the show to give him gold boots, and Eric Wallace specifically stating he would get them eventually, after he "earns them", Barry Allenw as sporting some shiny new boots on set. As soon as I saw them, I shot 1 take of it, and headed immediately home (I actually ran, which I never do, and not for that long of a distance [approx 3 blocks] to get 1 pic of it up on Patreon for everyone..... and its been received very well pretty much everywhere. Two consecutive Friday night shoots have seen Grant in very different costumes from what we have expected to see him in. If you missed last Fridays big spoiler, you can find that report HERE. They were filming in the exact same spot I caught them a couple weeks ago. I dont know if these were part of the same episode, or, if they are for a different part of the cross over. One thing that is certain, some big things were happening on this set. When I first showed up, they were doing blocking for the first scene with Grant Gustin as ???, and Arrow & Legends Of Tomorrow former big bad Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk. After rehearsals, Grant stopped to take a photo with a fan, then told the rest of the crowd of 30 or so people he would be back to do more photos with later. Several fans waited around on that promise, only to eventually all leave without that encounter. When Grant returned, he was in a costume, but not the typical red speedster outfit. This time he was dressed in an all yellow outfit, outside of a red belt & boots. WHAT? That is right, Grant was dressed as the Reverse Flash. Makes me remember that time in Crisis On Earth X, when Eobard said to Barry, that he wonders what face he'll be wearing the next time they meet. The scene itself wasnt too much, as it just saw Reverse Flash & Damien talking in the middle of the street, before Reverse Flash zips away. They filmed for about 30-45 minutes, and that was it for Grant working that night. I only myself got to see 2 takes, because I just happened to leave at the wrong time & missed about 60% of the shoot. It is so rare that I pick the wrong time to leave, I honestly cant recall the last time I did that. After that some stunt work was done with Killer Frost, Chill Blaine ( Danielle Panabaker & Jon Cor did some scenes later, but first was stunts) & Damien Darhk doing a fight. With Team Cold battling Damien. A little later was a scene with Danielle & Jon doing a quick piece of dialogue, then walking towards where Damien was. The night ended with another spoiler Osric Chau as Ryan Choi, on set in his version of the ATOM suit. He did a scene with Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers in her Sentinel outfit, doing a scene where they stop Damien Darhl from doing something with a jagged looking sword type item. Ryan does something to its weight, making it impossible for Damiek to pick up & Alex knocks him out with something that seemed like a tazer maybe, before the two heroes walk away together. This was not the best shots I have ever taken. So I didnt spend a lot of time editing these ones. Especially since Froggy has better ones below that I was being allowed to post. After that, the cast was wrapped for the night, and so was I. They did some stunt work till 7 AM, but I called it a night at 5 AM. At the end of a very long night (especially considering she was called in almost 4 hours earlier than she had to be in the end) Chyler came over and signed for the couple people that still were there at 5AM without any complaints. Below my set is an EXTRA photo set from a guest photographer (twitter profile), Frog Photo. If you decide to re-post their content, I advise you read the paragraph before their photos at the bottom. Yesterday I caught up with them filming part 2 of their 5 part cross over event. This episode is being directed by Menhaj Huda. When I first showed up, they were already wel into shooting a scene outside of the "Central City Bank" with Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, doing a scene with a woman who I am assuming based off the trailer I saw, and the fact there was no other Officer he engaged with, that was "Officer Korber". Shortly after he finishes talking to the Officer, a returning character catches his attention as she calls out to him from behind where he was standing. It was Carmen Moore as Kristen Kramer. The pair then have a fairly long talk, and that is the end of the scene. Later, they moved a block down the street to a spot very close to where they filmed the scene last year where the Strength Force / Fuerza killed Polka Dot Man.... wait sorry, wrong DC character, Abra Kadabra. This time, they were on the other side of the intersection in a small plaza under the bridge. The scene starts with Grant, now as The Flash zipping in, talking to a couple thats looking at a city map, before turning around to see Tony Curran as Human version of Despero standing there. He then zips over there, and has a talk with Despero that went on for a while. It might honestly be one of the longest scenes I have watched. In it, they spoke back and forth, with The Flash looking quite annoyed, and Despero seeming unfazed by his annoyance. In the conversation Despero tells Barry he was banished there by someone, and that Earth is now his home, and he is annoyed humans are destroying the planet. Barry also at one point tells him hes been through a Crisis before. But much of the conversation was too quiet for me to hear. That was all I saw. As I said, they were still shooting when I left. But, it was going to be in a partially blocked off underground parking lot, and at night, so I called it a day. The only other thing of note I saw, was a trailer for a character named "Xotar", but did not see a character that could match up to that. perhaps in the scene I couldnt see? Yesterday I caught up with them filming part 2 of their 5 part cross over event. This episode is being directed by Menhaj Huda. On this day, the cast & crew were shooting scenes in Coal Harbour in downtown Vancouver. The scenes were done almost entirely in the pouring rain, which varied between a light mist, and a downpour throughout the day. At the beginning of the day, they were doing a stunt scene that had CCPD cars racing down the street, with a Central City Museum truck. As they get to the intersection, an unknown character (played by Kandyse McClure) is standing there. At the beginning, they had a stunt double there, who would move out of the way as the cars come to a stop. Later they did the scene again, with the stunt double there, then the actress came in to replace her double, to do the close up/speaking part of the role. After that, Grant Gustin came out, did a run through rehearsal in his own clothes, before leaving to get ready to film. The actress was still there during the run through, but I never saw a scene where they were both in together in the scene. But they were still filming when I finally left. So perhaps it was a really late scene. At one point the rain was really intense, and I'm not saying its a coincidence, buuut, they didnt do a single thing for about 90 minutes. For about 30 of those minutes, they had the background people standing out in the rain, in position, just waiting to work. Eventually they gave up waiting for the downpour to break, and eventually did work through it. When they did, Grant came out in his Flash suit, and did a scene where he comes zipping in, and seems to attempt to run at something (I assume this mystery woman, but can not confirm it), before he gets stopped. They then went on lunch break after that scene. When they were on lunch break, Cody Laudan was out there in his Flash attire doing rehearsals where he was being lifted into the air. I left for a while, as the weather wasnt great. When I returned, Grant & Cody were out there, and I was a little shocked to see that instead of Cody going up in the air, they had Grant all hooked up in the rigging, and he did scenes where he was lifted into the air, laid out on his back, and was screaming, then was turned upright, and held there for a moment, before being let down. That was all I saw. As I said, they were still shooting when I left. But, it didnt seem like there was going to be much else of note going on. So that is it for now.
