Here is a couple quick videos from the set of "Psych" during season 8 filming of the food truck festival episode "Shawn & Gus Truck Things Up" In this scene, Shawn & Gus (James Roday & Dule Hill) had just finished talking to Henry (Corbin Bernsen) [seen briefly in the 1st video] before they hurry over to Carlton "Lassie" Lassiter (Timothy Omundson) and proceed to talk with him I saw a lot of the filming in this courtyard, I will have a couple more short videos at a later date from this set. Till then, here are these, and you can see another video HERE and of course lots of still photos, including some NOTABLE SPOILERS HERE and HERE Psych returns for its 8th & final season (even though they wont say it...again, yet.) Jaunary 8, 2014 on USA.

THIS POST CONTAINS NOTABLE MAJOR SPOILERS FOR FILMING OF "PSYCH SEASON 8". Do not read or view the photos below if you don't want to see or read anything on season 8 prior to seeing it. . . . last warning . . . I caught up with Psych for more filming from their expected series finale. This particular day, I was determined to go to the set because I knew a guest star that was going to be there. A very special, very Psych relevant guest star that they clearly wanted in the show at some point... Ready Psych-o's? Here it comes. You ready? BILLY ZANE will be in an episode of Psych... and not just as a pop culture reference this time. I dont really know what his role is in the episode. I know there was scenes shot with Billy, Shawn, Gus & Henry either together, or in various combinations, on a trail inside a park in Burnaby. Later, I found them at a house where Shawn, Gus, Lassie and guest stars Billy Zane & some Acadamy Award Winning Actress by the name of Mira Sorvino did scenes in a house. I also saw tweets that said Deon Richmond was on set for this episode. Clearly Psych is pulling out all the running gags for their probable series finale. One of the cooler moments I have had on a Psych set came at the end of the work day. Having gotten James, Dule, Maggie, Kirsten, Corbin & even Steve Franks in my "Psych's Guide To Crimefighting For The Totally Unqualified" (an entertaining read by the way) on previous encounters, I still needed Timothy. So I tweeted at him that I was waiting outside hoping to get my book signed....didn't think he'd even see it in the 1000s of tweets he gets daily. But sure enough, when he left at the end of the day, he walked over to my friend & I and instantly said without hesitation "so which 1 of you is Canadagraphs?" then he signed my book, completing the cast. Something interesting that was found out during this shoot. Maybe you should sit down for this 1. Some of you fans might not take this news as well. Gus is moving on up car-wise. In a shocker, the Blueberry is no more. Gus has a new job, and a new company car. Like many prop cars that shows get, for insurance reasons, the blueberry was crushed. So sadly, no one will be taking it home as the ultimate Psych prop gift. The Blueberry was the 1st notable, Psych specific item I heard about being let go of by the show in their final weeks. The lease on several locations they used, including the office for Psych also happened in the final weeks. With so many iconic parts of the show now gone, does this mean the end for the series? Sadly, yes. Even though the USA Network or NBC Universal hasnt said so yet, this show is done. I'm saying it if they wont. Feel free to come here & point & laugh if they bring it back, but when cast leave for other projects and they let go of their most notable locations & props, its done. Several cast have moved on. Dule Hill has a Broadway role, Corbin Bernsen very publicly stated he wont be back, and of course James Roday said to me in my last encounter with him "since this is the end of the line..." when he was talking to me about all the autographs I got from him over the years and how he wouldn't see me again. Is it possible for a return of Psych in some form? Maybe. But it will not be any time soon. It will not be another season. it will be a TV movie at most. It will be 3-5 years from now. They will have to wait till they A- Get the OK from NBC Universal/USA Network to do 1, tne B- Have all of the cast available. That isnt coming together in the next year for sure. If there is no TV movie in the next 5 years, then there will never be a return. For now, the show is ending after 8 glorious seasons. To the cast - thanks for a great show & more or less always being great with myself & other fans at the sets. To the crew - For the mostpart, I found you all to be really classy, respectful & helpful to myself & fans visiting the set, something that isnt always the case for all shows. To the creators, directors & writers - You have earned my applause, a lot of applause. To the fans. All great things must come to an end. But dont worry.... you still have several more months to get there....oh, and I still have a couple more nuggets to post from season 8 filming....so theres that too eventually. In the mean time, take in some pics from 1 of the last Psych sets I ever encountered. Over the last couple months I caught Psych out & a around a few times where there either wasnt much to shoot, or, in the case of the photos of 1 particular cast member in a outfit we have not previously seen him in, was asked not to post them right away (since they showed him in the said outfit at Comic-Con on their promo reel...cats outta the bag now). Here is a collection of these pics. Including guest stars Loretta Devine (Boston Public & The Client List) & Tom Arnold (Roseanne) who were in different episodes that I crossed paths with over the past couple months. Of course, I have more photos coming soon of the final weeks of filming for the 8th & very likely final season of the USA Network hit comedy drama. THIS POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR SEASON 8 PREMIERE OF "PSYCH". Do not read on, or view photos if you do not want to know anything prior to seeing the episode.
. . . last warning . . The cast & crew for the current longest runnng show on the USA Network, the comedy-drama crime show "Psych" are back to work on their 8th season already. I caught up to them filming on 2 different occasions in their opening week. First I caught them just a block off of Sunset Beach in Vancouver filming scenes that included Lassie (Timothy Omundson) at an apartment. At the time, I thought very little of the apartment till I stumbled across the trailers & found a trailer for....MARLOWE. This got me thinking, is this where the Lassiter-Viccellio love nest is? Only time will tell. This past week USA Network officially confirmed Marlow weould be back in season 8 for a guest role, as well as the Cary Elwes character Pierre Despereaux. A few days later, I was told about them being in New Westminster. After a long exhaustive game of "follow the bread crumbs" I found the set in uptown New West, a quiet neighbourhood of above average value houses. On set that day, I saw Shawn & Gus (James Roday & Dule Hill) along with Juliet (Maggie Lawson). I also saw another cast member there. Unfortunately, I have no photos of this cast member on set at this time, because the specific person in question asked me not to post photos of them there that day, as it was a plot point that hasnt come up yet (and I instantly knew this person was right, having watched the show enough). Also on set on this day was, the blueberry. The scenes were all indoors while I was there, so I didnt see any filming...but here is my 1st pics of Psych cast & crew back at work for the 8th & likely final season (if James Roday & Dule Hill were telling it like it is at the Upfronts last week).. THIS POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS ABOUT FILMING FOR SEASON 7 OF "PSYCH". DO NOT CONTINUE READING, OR VIEWING THE PHOTOS IF YOU WANT NO SPOILERS.
. . . LAST WARNING Back in late July I found the Psych set a couple times in the same week. The episode they were filming was a wedding episode. I cant say everything I saw (we were asked by crew to NOT post a specific spoiler we saw... even though after a specific cast member tweeted an outright lie about it I had the urge to blow it out of the water....but have resisted). What I can say is... the episode revolves around the wedding of Lassie (Timothy Omundson). The first scene we saw being shot for this episode was out at River Rock Casino & Hotel, which was filling in for the fictitious "Aqua Verde Resort" where the wedding (seemingly) took place. We saw Lassie coming down the spiral escalator followed by Shawn, Gus, *****, another actor I did not know & Woody several steps behind in just a thong & a bathrobe that was open for all to see. I did not shoot photos of this scene as we were asked quite politely not to, due to a specific spoiler they were trying to keep under wraps (which I think they grossly over reacted to btw). After the scene was filmed, I got autographs from Kurt Fuller & Timothy inside. We then went outside & caught the cast going to & returning from lunch. James Roday was 1st up & he willingly signed (although he has often shown to be less than excited to do so, he still does it...which I have to respect.), Dule Hill was next and chatted with my buddy about his pretty extensive Psych autograph collection. I suspect Dule left there thinking my buddy probably has a mental disorder, or was lying. Timothy Omundson followed, along with Kurt Fuller. On the way back from lunch, Kurt signed for my buddy after he joked with him that he didnt get him inside because he has a "no getting autographs from guys in just a speedo policy". We also got autographs from Corbin Bernsen who was on set. Maggie Lawson was showing up to set shortly after that, and my buddy got her to sign. We waited around in hopes of seeing guest star Kristy Swanson, but never did. I went back to the set the next day to try & get Kristy, but literally missed her by seconds, as she was in her transport vehicle leaving for the day as I arrived. A few days later I found out about a night shoot they had. On set was a huge limobus, which was also at the set at the casino a few days earlier. This scene saw Lassy, Shawn & Gus showing up to the Santa Ynez Police Dept (played by Notre Dame Secondary) with a man in fuzzy leopard skinned handcuffs in tow. In this scene Lassie is talking to someone on the other end who seems to be associated with the person in custody. Couldnt really hear exactly what was being said, but the jist of the phone call was that Lassie was coming for get the guy on the other end of the phone. Here are the pics from these 2 days below. As I stated waaaaay back in my last Psych blog http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/6/post/2012/07/some-photos-of-psych-stars-james-roday-dule-hill-filming-scenes-for-season-7-w-bonus-timothy-omundson-sage-brocklebank.html I had more photos from the set back in the 2nd week of May.
Since someone on tumblr asked me where they were, and I realized they were already edited & ready to go... well, here they are. Pics of James Roday, Dule Hill, a couple more of Timothy Omundson, a few of Sage Brocklebank (with an extra who he seemed chummy with that I wish I had got the name of to add to the blog) and a few of Maggie Lawson from the impromptu photo shoot they did outside that day. Sorry if some of them (especially the Lawsons) arent crisp, it was sunny/shady/cloudy nightmare going on out there & the lighting kept changing. PS - Since then, I have another set of Psych cast pics to post...but that will be another week or 2, as I have many other posts to make in the mean time... but I WILL get to them eventually. |
