This Sunday (or Friday if you are in The U.S.) the season 3 finale of the hit Canadian Sci-Fi cop-from-the-future Police drama "Continuum" will air their season 3 finale. As it stands right now, theres constantly more questions opened up than are answered.
This season has seen a few more cast turn overs than the 1st couple of seasons perhaps. With the deaths of Jack Dillon, Betty Robertson & Sonya Valentine, 3 longstanding characters from the pilot, there is a clear sign almost everyone can be killed. Of course, some of those gaps in the cast have been filled with new characters, like the man who made Liber8 seemingly dissolve, Brad Tonkin (played by Ry Robbins) and the elevation of the freelancers to more regular roles. On the particular day I was at the set, I ran into a few cast members. I saw Stephen Lobo (dressed very futuristic with greying hair. I wasn't going to comment on...but since they showed a little snippet of future Kellogg in a hologram a couple eps ago...guess I can say it), Zak Santiago, Terry Chen, Ryan Robbins and even Rachel Nichols (but she asked me to not post pics of her from that day...so, sorry). But the 1 scene I saw that day was an interesting one that makes me wonder what will happen in the finale. I actually thought I had a clue where this scene was going when I watched episode 12... until Sonya blew everything up. Now, I don't know what the context of this scene is for. Its clear though, Carlos Fonnegra (played by Victor Webster) seems to be in some trouble with that squad we saw in the VPD HQ near the end of episode 12... but why? Who is this mystery team? What do they want with Fonnegra? The scene has Fonnegra race down an alley hoping to get away, but is cornered by 3 vehicles coming from each direction. Victor Webster shot many of the scenes quite well, but his stunt double driver did do it with a bit smoother precision. I'll be curious to see where & how that scene is cut. Perhaps we will get some answers in the season finale this weekend....... of course, knowing the genius of Continuum, we'll get as many new questions as we get answers.....and hey, maybe season 4 will start right back where we started season 3. We know its possible....and it would help the writers bring back Betty, Sonya & Jack. Until then...heres my last set pics of season 3 of Continuum. Continuum season 3 finale airs Sunday June 22 on Showcase in Canada Friday June 27, 2014 on Syfy in the U.S.

Recently, I caught up with the cast & crew of Continuum filming scenes near their "Vancouver Police Headquarters" at the Plaza Of Nations This time however, it was not the VPD side of the cast filming, but Luvia Petersen & Omari Newton doing a scene as Garza & Lucas. As you know if you have kept up with this current season of Continuum, Garza helped Lucas escape the Mental hospital with 1 of the more entertaining & creative escapes I have ever seen any show implement. One of the last things he says to her before they take off is how much he misses sushi. As we see in this scene, Lucas finally gets some sushi. Which was funny in itself, as Omari would spit out the sushi after every take. Guessing either Omari doesnt love it as much as his character, or the more likely, you dont want to eat 50 takes of sushi in 1 day. In this scene Garza and Lucas are in a park/trail talking when Garza then takes out a needle & jabs it into Lucas. What is it? No clue. Lucas didnt seem too concerned by it, but considering he might be a tad nuts, this shouldnt come as a shock. Also, lets be honest. If Garza tells you she going to stick a needle into your neck, theres not much you are going to be able to do to stop Garza from sticking a needle into your neck... so might as well go with it I suppose. While Luvia & Omari were filming, my buddy & I ran into Rachel Nichols who was leaving the trailers to o to their 2nd location that was shooting that day. I also saw Victor Webster, but as you can see by my photo, I didnt get a photo of his face as he was distracted by a couple dogs. Eventually Omari & Luvia wrapped their scenes. The production moved inside the VPD HQ. I got autographs from Omari, who asked me if I was a fan of the show, and Luvia who I also told that I liked her performance on another local show Psych, that she had a guest spot on that I had seen just recently before the filming of this day. Continuum season 3 is on right now Sundays on Showcase in Canada, and Fridays on Syfy in the U.S. Recently, I caught up with the cast & crew of Continuum filming an episode at the Patricia Hotel mere blocks from my place. In this scene Kiera Cameron ( Rachel Nichols ) is riding along with Inspector Dillon ( Brian Markinson )of all people. They get out of the cruiser, Dillon goes 1 way, while Kiera stands around, sees a black man carrying some groceries & then pursues him. She draws her gun & shoots & the man goes flying to the ground. As she is preparing to cuff the suspect, Dillon rounds the corner to see the end of it. There were other scenes shot in the area over the couple days they were there including 1 I missed the next day that had Garza ( Luvia Petersen ) in a fight scene around the other side of the hotel. As well, some scenes shot inside the Patricia Hotel. Below are the pics from this shoot. Continuum returns for season 3 Tomorrow March 16, 2014 on Showcase in Canada. It returns April 4, 2014 in the U.S. on Syfy. THIS BLOG CONTAINS NOTABLE SPOILERS FOR SEASON 3 OF "CONTINUUM". Do not continue reading, or viewing the photos below if you do not want to know major spoilers about the show prior to its airing. . . last warning . Not long before Christmas hiatus, I caught the crew & some of the cast of the Canadian sci-fi cop from the future hit drama Continuum out filming scenes for season 3 (I believe episode 4 or 5 judging by the time of the month I caught up to them). I actually had come across them a few times over the past couple weeks, but this was the 1 & only chance to actually SEE the filming. The scene that was being shot caught me off guard, and made me instantly excited to see where season 3 could go. So what did I see that had me so curious about where they could be going with this upcoming season?? Well, its the return of a character. Yes, a character returning changed how I was looking at season 3, and probably will for you too. Imagine my confusion when I showed up to see Stephen Lobo as Matthew Kellogg shooting scenes with a young gorgeous redheaded Magda Apanowicz as Emily Hartwell. So Alec obviously succeeded in going back in time to save Emily as she is quite fine. But, did Alec get "his" Emily back?? I ask this, because the scene she did with Kellogg suggested very much she knows very little of her past. She looked at Kellogg, a man she SHOULD have known from her past life as if he was a stranger. They then talked for a bit, and in the end, Kellogg leaves while Emily curls up into a ball on the rainy streets of Vancouver & breaks down crying. When filming was done. I asked Stephen if he minded signing for me, he said sure. Since it was raining pretty good out, I asked if he could take inside the building they were using as the holding area for the actors in between scenes, he did & gave them to me shortly after. I then wished him a happy holidays as I had learned it was his last day of filming for 2013 (the show still had a few more days though) So when Alec went back in time, did he delete Emily & him ever knowing each other as well? or do you think they meet under different circumstances & she just doesnt know Kellogg? In other news, I finally met Victor Webster a few weeks ago. After trying for him 3 or 4 times over the 1st couple seasons, I actually met him AFTER I had decided there was little chance of seeing anyone at the set I was at (in the snow) and had walked away & as I was coming back around the back end of the block they were on, who should I run into walking back to set from his break? Victor. Great guy. Took the time to sign in the snow for me. Funnier yet, after not running into him for 2 seasons, I saw him twice in a month as he left with Rachel Nichols one day at a set in the final week while I was getting Rachel to sign some, he saw me said hello agian & got into the van. Continuum returns for its 3rd season March 16th on Showcase. The 2013 Vancouver International Film Festival has started & this past Thursday, 1 of the many industry parties they have here took place at the popular CinCin restaurant on Robson Street. If you are aware of your Vancouver actors & industry people, this was a whos who of people you probably knew. Even if you are a moderate watcher of Vancouver filmed TV & movies, you likely could have walked by the short red carpet set up they had & went "hey, I know them from something". A lot of the stars out at this Brightlight Pictures party were of course there to promote films they had at VIFF this year & possibly get the word out about ones for next year. The cast for "Leap 4 Your Life" was out in full force. John Cassini, April & Ava Telek, Anne Marie DeLuise, Nicole Oliver, Julia & Peter Benson just to name a few were in attendance at the party promoting their VIFF comedy which has been perhaps the most talked about film so far. Julia Benson was also there promoting the comedy-drama "That Burning Feeling". Co-star Jordana Largy was also there. A trio of former Supernatural "monsters" were also at the party. Mark Pellegrino (Lucifer) was there to promote his new upcoming CW show "The Tomorrow People". Christopher Heyerdahl (Alastar) was there to promote his AMC show "Hell On Wheels" & his VIFF film "Three Days In Havana". Ty Olsson (Benny) was there as well. A couple of the cast from CTV Whydunit crime drama "Motive" also showed up, Louis Ferreira & Roger Cross were there throughout parts of the evening. Roger could have been doing double duty promoting "Arrow" as well, or even triple duty for "Continuum" with his co-star Jennifer Spence, she was also there promoting "Down River" with her husband/director Ben Ratner. The Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) featured locally shot "Horns" also was represented at the party. Laine MacNeil (most recently seen on "The Killing") was there. The most casually dressed trio award went to Matt & Mike Granger who were there promoting their still unfunded comedy "Alien Abduction" with 1 of its stars, Patrick Gilmore. After finishing 2nd this past summer during the Cinecoup Contest, this film is still being considered by those involved if the funding for it ever comes together (oh, for the record... SOMEONE NEEDS TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN). A couple of "Alphas" stars were there as well. Laura Mennell, along with Warren Christie & his wife Sonya Salomaa (from this past season of "The Killing") were there to take in the festivities. The Northern Canadian CBC hit drama "Arctic Air" was represented at the party as well. Series creator Gary Harvey was there with the shows stunning star Pascale Hutton. Arcitc Air co-star Emilie Ullerup was there with her husband actor Kyle Cassie, the pair have a film coming out soon "Death Do Us Part" that also features Peter & Julia Benson as well. Eric Winter took time from his work on "Witches Of East End" to come by & promote his new show. Terry Chen of "Continuum" was spotted as well with Eliza Smith. Some people were there simply to promote their talent. The Carrie Wheeler Entertainment Agency took to the carpet with their young star in the making Lilah Fitzgerald ( "Seventh Son", "Supernatural", and recently completed filming "Every Thing Will Be Fine" with James Franco & Rachel McAdams) there. Carrie escorted Lilah on the carpet with writer/director Jaman Lloyd who recently wrote/directed "Cheat".
"Elysium" star Josh Blacker, Local acting legend Jackson Davies, former "X-Files" & most recently "Continuum" & "The Killing" star Nicholas Lea were all there. "Rookie Blue" guest star Aliyah O'Brien was there with other clients of Premiere Talent Management, Madi Ross, Dejan Loyola & Laine MacNeil, . Ona Grauer from "Stargate Universe" & "Archer" also was spotted on the red carpet. Terry Chen from "Continuum" & the new CW show "The 100" was also there with musician Eliza Smith Performers Management had a couple of their stars there as well "Republic Of Doyle" recurring guest star Steve Bacic was there. Young up & comer Logan Williams was there as well to promote his upcoming roles in the movie "The Colour Of Rain" & "When Calls The Heart" Many others also were in attendance, but it was hard to catch everyone as they arrived. Some people I photographed, but failed to catch what they were there promoting, so if you see a photo of yourself, or someone you know unlabeled, please let me know & I can revise it. Others were there who I saw & interacted with, but didn't catch on the red carpet for a photo op. Crystal Lowe "Primeval: New World" was there to promote her new Hallmark Channel pilot "Signed Sealed Delivered" Gil Bellows was there to promote "Three Days In Havana" Andrea Brooks (most recently seen on Supernatural) also was in attendance. VIFF is running right now at theatres around Vancouver till October 11, 2013. Day 3 started with a torrential downpour that went on well into the evening. Of course, the 1st premiere of the day "Supermensch" had to be at Roy Thompson Hall, a big, long red carpet....all in the wide open lol. Rock legend Alice Cooper showed up 1st & signed enough that everyone got at least 1, but since they were in the rain, the risk of getting them wet hindered the chance to get lots as everyone took extra measures in putting them away to protect them from getting soaked. Mike Myers did a reasonable amount for the fairly small, but condensed crowd before he headed inside the dry tent for press. The next premiere everyone seemed to go to was for "You Are Here" at Ryerson theatre, the ONLY venue with any level of cover. Even without the downpour minimizing the places to go, Iw as going to this one solely on the hope Melissa Rauch would show. But she didnt. Maybe if the crowd knew ahead of time that Zach Galifianakis & Owen Wilson bailed on promoting it (Zack had a good excuse, as his wife was apparently in labour with their first child), the crowd would have been thinner for the only people to show up, Amy Poehler & Laura Ramsey. Amy signed a fair handful, but the autographs were horrendous looking & in many cases, with a dying, dried out marker...like the one I got. Laura was terrific with the crowd & signed for whoever asked. With the weather not easing up, the next premiere everyone waited on was "Labor Day" with Kate Winslet, James Van Der Beek & Josh Brolin. James showed up 1st, but few if any people even had stuff for him. Josh showed up next, he signed sparingly, but did a fair amount of the crowd in the dry area. I managed to get 1, in a purple marker, and was happy for it...after I saw some in an abysmal dying green marker he used for most. While we waited for Kate to arrive, True Blood star Stephen Moyer snuck past most of the crowd & went into the theatre. Next up was the very pregnant Kate Winslet. Despite being several months pregnant, she was a champ & signed almost as many autographs as she humanly could without holding up her premiere too much. Class act. Only disappointment was, she seemed to be picky on a few photos she didnt like signing...including 1 I had, which I foolishly tried 4-5 times, before I gave up & tried a different one & got it done on the 1st try. What can you do? After seeing her work the carpet despite being several months pregnant, I now dont ever want to hear ANY celeb with ANY excuse on why they "cant". Kate Winslet has just voided all your excuses. It started to dry out by that point, and I SHOULD have used that time to go ANYWHERE but Ryerson, but, I foolishly got lured into the trap of going for someone I knew was a prick already. Daniel Radcliffe. To his credit, he did sign a bunch. But he could have done MUCH more, and also came across as a pure cock when he not once, but several times grabbed items, then would put the pen almost on it, then let go of the item & move on. If he hadnt done that, I would have given him nothing but kudos despite me not getting 1. But it was that action, combined with the fact he left a lot of people hanging despite the fact he could have done more, is why he gets a failing mark in my books. I managed to get 3 autographs from his "The F-Word" co-star Zoe Kazan, 1 myself, two others by handing to people infront who only wanted Daniel. She really was pleasant and probably made a few new fans out there. On the way out of their premiere, Radcliffe & his dwindling career ran by the crowd of mostly teen & 2o-something fans to his car. Didnt even given 1 wave or autograph. Good promotion Daniel. The last premiere of the night was 1 I was waiting for. The Green Inferno, directed by Eli Roth. It had a couple of actresses that I wanted to get before in Vancouver, but never managed to cross paths with. Magda Apanowicz (Continuum, Hellcats, Kyle XY) & Lorenza Izzo were both there & both were of course, great. The other girl I had a photo for was Kirby Bliss Blanton, who I wasnt familiar with, was also great. Several people had a photo of her, but didnt know who it was (I had the photo as well, but had it labeled as Skye Ferreira since IMDB said it was). Also there was co-star Ignacia Allamand. It was a great way to end a so-so day, getting an entire cast on all the items I brought is rare. September is a monumental month for autograph hounds in Canada. Its the start of the NHL pre-season, our most popular sport across the country, as well, the Toronto International Film Festival takes place. TIFF 2013, the 38th annual festival, takes place from Sept 5-15 & as usual, I'll be there taking in the opportunities to get autographs from some of the largest names of TV & movies. As always, there is a lengthy list of notable names with films there. Academy Award winners like Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Jessica Lange, Marion Cotillard, Nicole Kidman, Kate Winslet, Sandra Bullock, Nicolas Cage, William Hurt, Adrien Brody, Colin Firth, Kevin Kline, Robin Williams, Jim Broadbent, George Clooney, Juliet Binoche, Judi Dench, Marcia Gay Harden & Tilda Swinton are all in 1 or more films at this years festival. Popular stars of this generation like Daniel Radcliffe, Chris Hemsworth, Benedict Cumberbatch, Hugh Jackman, Scarlett Johansson, Emilia Clarke, Ralph Fiennes & Dakota Fanning also have films at the festival. Theres then an even longer list of "hey, I know them from something" names. With so many names, so many shows going on over only 10 days, you need to prioritize if you are planning to catch celebs...and that means picking & chosing who is most important to you. Whether as a fan, or a seller, you need to generate a list of who you want to get the most, because you simply cant get everyone. (please vote on the poll below for who you most want me to see at TIFF) So here is my list of my top 20 for TIFF 13. Its a mixture of who I want to get for myself, or just want to get to say I got them or for financial benefits. (note - not all names are guaranteed to be at the festival, so please dont take my list as a guarantee of their arrival... it is merely who I would like to get if they are there) 1- Melissa Rauch (The last 3 years in a row I have gotten my #1 on my list. Johnny Depp, Michael C. Hall & Chloe Moretz. This year, I am picking someone that was not on the initial guest list... so theres a good chance getting my #1 wont even be an option. ) 2- Benedict Cumberbatch (If Ms. Rauch doesnt show, Benedict, the man who brings Sherlock Holmes to life, will be my #1) 3- Michael C. Hall (Former #1 target of 2011 is still high on my list since the last season of Dexter is under way) 4- Emilia Clarke (Hot girl who walks around naked 1/3 of the time on Game Of Thrones? Yeah, like I wasnt going to have her on the list) 5- Chris Hemsworth (As Thor, hes become a household name.) 6- Jessica Chastain (back-to-back Academy Award Nominations. Shes gonna win 1 sometime in the next 5 years) 7- Brad Pitt (If he comes, he will be sought after target for no other reason than to right the fact I haven't gotten him the 1st 2 times I saw him) 8- Hailee Steinfeld (Always some newcomers to my list every year, this year, Hailey has grabbed my attention as someone to nab, 2010 Academy Award nominated actress) 9- Meg Tilly (This Golden Globe winning recluse was most recently on the hit Bomb Girls. She is making a rare public appearance this festival for the 30th anniversary of The Big Chill) 10- Magda Apanowicz (My crush of her character on Hellcats not withstanding, I've quite liked her work on everything I have seen her in, most recently the Canadian sci-fi hit Continuum) 11- Lorenzo Izzo (Saw her a couple years ago at TIFF & was so taken aback by how gorgeous she was, I had to find out who she was. Now that I know, time to get her autograph.) 12- Karen Gillan ( I may not watch Doctor Who, but I know enough to know I'd be a fool not to go for her) 13- Scarlett Johansson (A household name now adays. ScarJo will be on most peoples list, regardless if they ae fans of her work or not.) 14- Kurt Russell (Grindhouse & Miracle. Thats all) 14- Julia Roberts (Academy Award Winner should be enough to make the list...but I just want to get her really because of Pretty Woman) 15- Joel Edgerton (I've met Tom Hardy, I've met Jennifer Morrison, I've met Nick Nolte. So obviously I need to meet the final piece of the "Warrior" main cast) 16- Brendan Gleeson (Huge In Bruges fan, so excited that 2 of the 3 are at the fest) 17- Ralph Fiennes (see Brendan Gleeson) 18- Meryl Streep (when a legend this big is at any event, even if you dont care for them...you go for them) 19- Jennifer Aniston (met her once many many years ago & had nothing of note to get signed, now I will.) 20- Hugo Weaving (V For Vendetta, that about says it all) 21- Liam Neeson (even though hes a prick, still love most of his work) 22- Marcia Gay Harden (kind of an off the map 1. Really only want to meet her because of the amazing job shes done this year on The Newsroom) 23- Mke Myers (met him several times, but still always excited to meet him again) 24- Kate Winslet (Titanic is all I really know her from. But isn't that enough reason to go for her?) 25- Daniel Radcliffe (I loathe the Harry Potter franchise. But that said, I like money. So I will go for this stiff) Honourable mention - Nicole Kidman, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael Fassbender, Mila Kunis, Olivia Wilde, Judi Dench, Tom Welling, Keanu Reeves, Tobey Maguire, Pierce Brosnan, Jude Law, Katheryn Winnick, Peter Sarsgaard, Alia Shawkat, James Van Der Beek, Metallica, Alice Cooper, Hugh Jackman, Sandra Bullock Notables not on my list - Reese Witherspoon ( she isnt going to sign more than 2 or 3 autographs anyways...just long enough for the cameras to get pictures of her interacting with the "common folk" so why waste my time. Shes a bitch, thats the nicest thing anyone who has ever met her can say about her) - Glenn Close (got her 2 years ago. I really am not impressed enough by her work to care to chase this fairly elusive signer) - Jake Gyllenhaal (the lesser talented of the Gyllenhaal siblings, hes a douchebag. I'd rather ask homeless people for their autograph than giving him the satisfaction of ignoring me) - Zack Galifinakis (outside of the Hangover, has he done ANYTHING to warrant such a big ego? No? Thats what I thought. When he comes back down to reality, maybe I'll care. Till then, his self importance of himself makes him irrelevant to me) - Owen Wilson (really untalented, terribly unfunny, and a bit of a prick. Cant be bothered) - Keira Knightley (I got her last year & was really underwhelmed by her. Maybe once her ego comes down to reality I'll place more value on her. For now, shes a mediocre actress with too much of an ego & an abysmal autograph.) My 2012 TIFF saw me go 10/25 (got my #1 Johnny Depp) My 2011 TIFF saw me go 9/30 (got my #1 Chloe Moretz though) My 2010 TIFF saw me go 8/20 (got my #1 Michael C. Hall) How will TIFF 2013 go? Who will I get? Who will I miss? Will Ms. Rauch show up? Will my 3 year streak of getting my #1 continue to 4 years? I will update this blog as the festival goes on. I will TRY to do it everyday, but as those of you who read my previous years blogs know, it will probably be more of every 2-3 days. |
