The last day of filming for the fan driven 4th & final season of the former AMC crime-drama that is now finding its 3rd life at Netflix, the online TV & movie service, The Killing was on April 28, 2014 on a quiet side street/alley in New Westminster, BC, Canada.

As it happened, I stumbled across them that day & was not even aware they were wrapping that day as MOST production lists had May 1, 2014 down as their final day.

When my buddy & I got there, they had already been filming for awhile & were just in the middle of a short break. We managed to get autographs from both Joel Kinnaman & Mireille Enos quickly after getting there. This gave me time to concentrate then on getting some photos, and after Joel told us it was the final day, I pretty much knew where I was going to be till the end of their filming. Right there.

Unlike most sets for The Killing, we were actually greeted with some resistence. I have learned from experiences in the past, if a generally easy show is suddenly being less receptive, its usually they want to stop you from seeing something notable. Our 2 biggest non-fans included 1 guy who followed 1 of us around for most of his time there, while the other was a VERY anti-photographer psycho who kept repeating the date of the death of Diana. Not once or twice, but 30+ times he rambled off this date while my buddy & I were busy talking with a more level headed crew member & a City of New West Cop about where we could & couldnt stand. Eventually cooler heads prevailed, and we were allowed to do what we wanted to do there with minimal resistance.

With this being the final day of shooting, both Mirelle and Joel spent a lot of time out, interacting with the crew and each other in between takes.

Between scenes, the crew were walking around to each other & getting autographs from each other in a yearbook style book that they all got.

Mireille spent the better part of an hour signing these books for the crew as she sat inside the car, while Joel did it standing in the middle of the street. I've never seen a production make a yearbook before. it actually was pretty cool. I never got a really great look inside it, but from a distance I could see it seemed that all the crew seemed to have pictures in it, and the cover was all black with "The Killing" across the front in red lettering.

The scene(s) they shot seemed to have Stephen Holder (Robobcop star - Joel Kinnaman) coming out of a Community Centre that he is seen locking up (Is Holder running a Community Centre now?) as he comes out, he walks over to Sarah Linden (former Emmy and Golden Globe nominated - Mireille Enos) & the two share a hug, then chat for what seemed like FOREVER by filming standards. Then Linden walks off screen. That was the end of that scene.

There was then another scene where the two start off in a hug. This leads to Holder walking back towards the CC, while Linden gets into a car & drives away.

Finally 1 more scene is done with the pair. Again Holder coming out of the CC & walks over to where Linden is waiting in her car. She gets out, the two embrace again (I really cant tell from my blurry night time photo...but did they kiss? I hope not. Never considered them a couple that way.), before Linden gets into the drivers seat, Holder in the passenger seat (she is his ride after all) & they drive off. This was the final scene they would ever shoot, and it felt like the final scene as well with the use of a crane operated camera which would imply shooting them driving away together at the end. Filming doesnt always shoot scenes in order (in fact, rarely) so just because it was the last scene shot does not mean it was the last scene. However, this particular last shot DID feel like the last scene.

Mireille, who was pregnant with her 2nd child on set, was dressed a little different than the Linden we usually see. If she was wearing 1 of her countless sweaters, you could not tell under the bright blue scarf that she was wearing over the front of her jacket which really did minimize how pregnant she looked, and surely that was the concept for the wardrobe idea.

Joel was dressed more like the traditional season 1 and 2 Stephen Holder we all are used to, and not the season 3 "working up to detective" look we saw last season.

When filming ended, the director made several statements. Starting with it was with sadness, and pleasure to announce Joel was wrapped for the final time, then he made the same announcement for Mireille, then moments later stated the same of the season & the series to a round of cheers from the crew & cast who by them had congrugated in the middle of the small side street they were using. He then thanked a few people including the cast, and Veena Sud who was in attendance. Many of them stood around chatting and sharing stories after wrapping. There was about 6 or 8 people left when Joel finally left, Mireille left shortly after that & that was IT. The Killing was officially done for me too... at least till August 1st.

I want to say thanks to AMC for giving the show a spot in their line up originally and giving us all a taste of this incredible show. I want to thank Veena Sud, who although I have been critical of how she and AMC pitched the show to fans during season 1, still managed to draw me back in again and again. Of course, a massive thanks to the people at Netflix, the online streaming service that will bring us the 4th season later this week. I am personally renewing my Netflix account that has been dead since after the Arrested Development revival just to watch The Killing (and I will be checking out Orange Is The New Black & Hemlock Grove while I am at it). Thanks to the crew that worked on it day & night for parts of 4 years, even those of you I might have disagreed with from time to time. Of course, thanks to the incredible fans that not once, but twice dragged The Killing out of the canceled bin and into production of more episodes. I don't think I have seen such a successful job anywhere else yet.

Lastly, a huge thanks to the awesome cast the show has had from the get go. Season 1 and 2 had amazing performances from Billy Campbell, Kristin Lehman, Michelle forbes, Brent Sexton, Brendan Sexton III, Jamie Anne Allman, Eric Ladin, Kacey Rohl, Tom Butler, Liam James, Evan Bird, Seth Isaac Johnson, Patrick Gilmore, Katie Findlay, Brandon Jay McLaren and others.

Season 3 of course brought us a new cast, and again, outstanding work by Elias Koteas, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Gregg Henry, Amy Seimetz, Ben Cotton, Julia Sarah Stone, Max Fowler, Aaron Douglas, Hugh Dillon, Ryan Robbins, Rowan Longworth, Laine MacNeil, Cate Sproule and of course Peter Saarsgaard (who got absolutely ROBBED of an Emmy nomination this year) plus many more.

Of course, CAN NOT FORGET the 2 staples of the show, for all 4 seasons. Joel Kinnaman and Mireille Enos.

The season 4 cast sure has a lot to live up to. Hoping that Joan Allen, Sterling Beaumon, Levi Meaden, Jordan Burtchett and others can stand up to the incredible job their past alum have put forth.

The Killing 4th & Final season will air on Netflix with all 6 of the final season episodes TOMORROW August 1, 2014

AMC critically acclaimed drama "The Killing" is filming its 3rd season, despite originally being Canceled - Giving countless other shows hope of a resurrection

Some people dont know this but... AMC renewed the critically acclaimed cop drama "The Killing" awhile ago for an unexpected 3rd season.

After canceling the show about a pair of cops who solved the 2 season long querie "Who Killed Rosie Larsen?", AMC opted to bring it back after lots of fan support & a deal that was reached between Fox Television Studios & Online streaming service "Netflix" to produce the 3rd season.

As a fan of the show, I am excited by this news. As an autograph hound, overjoyed, as Joel Kinnaman (RoboCop ) and Mireille Enos (World War Z ) seem to only being going up in star ratings with their major roles in these 2 anticipated releases.

last time I blogged about this show, it was for the season 2 finale, as I GUESSED (or predicted, however you want to call it) Rosie Larsen's killer would be Aunt Terry. http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/1/post/2012/06/for-2-years-we-all-have-asked-who-killed-rosie-larsen-tonight-we-find-out-on-the-killing-i-know-for-sure-it-was-not-me.html it would also be the last blog I ever did in that blog section.

Lots has changed since season 2. All the main/secondary cast from the 1st two seasons are gone but Holder & Linden. We now find Stephen Holder ( Joel Kinnaman ) donning Detective duds & not his trademark slacker/sleazeball look he carried throughout the 2 previous seasons as a narcotics cop turned homicide investigator. Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos ) is no longer on the force, but is drawn back in after a case Holder is working on connects to a string of murders connected to a case she led (perhaps the mysterious case referenced several times over Seasons 1 & 2).

New to the cast will be Peter Sarsgaard, Elias Koteas, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Hugh Dillion, Gregg Henry & Amy Seimetz as well as many more.

The premiere for season 3 is still several weeks away, but I caught them a couple times out filming scenes for the upcoming season. The 1st day I got to set just as Mireille Enos did a scene at a school in the playground. Shortly after she wrapped, and Joel Kinnaman came to do scenes a block away at an walking overpass. I didnt take any photos that day that were too impressive. A few days later they returned to the area on the other side of the train tracks the overpass covers to film a scene where Holder & his new partner (I believe Gregg Henry, but cant be sure) are staking out a complex when a car comes screeching out & takes off from the area leading to the new Detective & his partner to follow.

The 1 notable I have noticed missing this season so far that I saw at so many sets in season 1 & 2, rain towers. While they did soak the streets down, they didnt have the massive rain towers working to give the impression of a monsoon level rain that the creators gave Seattle, Washington in seasons 1 & 2.

With The Killing returning for a 3rd season after its cancelation, many other shows that have been canceled are looking at its resurrection as a sign that their show too can be brought back. Maybe Netflix, who has helped Arrested Development return as well will be a major force in bringing shows back for 1 or 2 more seasons for fans who are devoted to trying to push for another season or two of their favorites. Could TNT hit "Leverage" garner this type of consideration? We will see as time goes on how Netflix handles the influx of canceled shows & the rabid fanbases wanting to resurrect their favorite shows. If only this option existed when "Dead Like Me" was unjustly canceled by Showtime.

EUREKA cast pics. The Syfy Sci-Fi SERIES finale is tonight!

Tonight, a show that I JUST GOT INTO a couple months ago ends. Granted, its been 5 seasons for the longer die-hard fans, but to me it seems like such a short run. The Chilliwack shot Syfy drama Eureka will come to an end tonight.

I dont know why it took me so long to give the show a chance, but when I finally did a couple months ago I really enjoyed it. Having finished off all 4 full seasons & the 12 episodes of season 5 already, I am now disappointed that tonight will be the last episode of this quirky light drama about an average intellegence sherriff & the genius scientists creating new technologies in a town that doesnt officially exist.

This will (barring some miracle of a TV Movie being done for the show) my 3rd & likely last blog about this wonderful show. Only my 2 previous Comic-Con cast returning blogs, 1 from 2010 http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/1/post/2010/07/eureka-stars-return-from-comic-con.html and from

Since I didnt follow the show too closely while it was around here, I dont know much about what might be happening in the finale, or if the writers knew going in they were going to be wrapping this story up. I just hope its good & leaves a good taste in my mouth when its all done.

Over the past few years I have run into members of this cast on occasion, and like I said, wasnt into the show yet, so I really didnt know at the time much about their roles on the show. Knowing what I do about it now... I wish I had made the trek out to Chilliwack at least once to see them shoot. I will certainly miss Vincent & his array of culinary adventures, Sheriff Carter & Allison & seeing how their families would have transformed. Henry & Grace will be missed too. Do Lupo & Zane ever get hitched?... and of course, will Fargo & Holly have a happily ever after? These are just a few of the things that tonights episode need to try & close out. I'll even miss the emotionally unstable dependancy issue riddled house S.A.R.A.H. & her robo boyfriend Deputy Andy. I will even miss Dr. Parrish, as I felt after the Astraeus mission he showed some signs at times of possibly being not such a bad guy. I really hope Zoe & Taggart have some pressence in the finale as well. Be a tad disappointing if they arent there for it.

Ideally, I would LIKE to see SYFY (or anyone... Netflix, HI? *waves*) do a 1 off movie to wrap up things, since I AM SURE there will be some loose ends tonight. I even have some ideas of my own how to do things (based on my assumption of how some loose ends may play out before having seen it).

My interactions with this cast have been few, but generally good. Neil & Salli are wonderful people & so friendly in person. Colin was generally good (last year returning from Comic-Con he was a bit growly..but he had just tweeted hours earlier about a negative encounter with an overly aggresive autograph hound in SoCal...sooo yeah). Even the 1 time I saw Wil Wheaton with Neil, he was ok, although the 2 times prior that I have seen him he completely snubbed anyone asking for a photo or an autograph. Someday I hope to run into the likes of Joe Morton, Felicia Day, Erica Cerra (although I have seen her filming an ep of Supernatural once), Jordan Hinson and Chris Gauthier as well.

To the entire cast & crew of the show. THANK YOU for 5 seasons worth of entertaining & brilliant TV. I am sorry SyFy is getting away from Sci-Fi TV & you all & us fans lose out because of it.
