Here is a couple quick videos from the set of "Psych" during season 8 filming of the food truck festival episode "Shawn & Gus Truck Things Up" In this scene, Shawn & Gus (James Roday & Dule Hill) had just finished talking to Henry (Corbin Bernsen) [seen briefly in the 1st video] before they hurry over to Carlton "Lassie" Lassiter (Timothy Omundson) and proceed to talk with him I saw a lot of the filming in this courtyard, I will have a couple more short videos at a later date from this set. Till then, here are these, and you can see another video HERE and of course lots of still photos, including some NOTABLE SPOILERS HERE and HERE Psych returns for its 8th & final season (even though they wont say it...again, yet.) Jaunary 8, 2014 on USA.

Recently, Psych, the hit comedy-drama from the USA Network filmed scenes for its season 8 finale. Which is also believed to be the series finale (I have been told by multiple sources it is the series finale, but no official word from USA yet). On 1 of the days, I caught the cast & crew down near English Bay filming scenes so secretive that they did the very un-Psych like action of aggressively covering up any view of the scene. While I do know what happened in the scene, for now, I wont spoil that. Instead, here are some photos of the cast & director Steve Franks on the set. James Roday, Dule Hill, Maggie Lawson & Kirsten Nelson were all spotted on set that day. With Maggie Lawson leaving merely days after this shoot to start her next job on her new show "Back In The Game" in Los Angeles, this very well could be the last scenes Maggie ever shot for Psych. I will have more from this set, with some grainy, more notable photos later this summer. For now...here you go. Also, coming soon, some photos from another episode they filmed outside a lot, about a murder in a food truck festival. THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE SEASON 7 FINALE OF "PSYCH". Do not continue reading or watching the videos if you do not want to see any possible spoilers. . . . . Last warning . . Back in October, the hit USA Network Crime Procedural comedy Psych was filming their season 7 finale....even though the premiere wouldstill not even air for 4 months. On the day I caught them in North vancouver, there was a couple short diriving scenes done. As you have probably already seen from the photos I posted in my blog posts (spoilers inside) here http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/6/post/2012/11/psych-films-their-season-7-fnale-and-1-of-the-cast-has-some-choice-words-for-2-others-spoiler-inside.html and here http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/6/post/2012/11/this-past-week-psych-spent-halloween-filming-scenes-for-the-season-7-finale-no-spoiler-post.html Well, here are videos from them shooting. I apologize for the background sounds on both of them... I frankly dont know whats up with the odd sounds (the clicking of my camera aside.. at least I know what that sound is). First up... a scene where the Blueberry pulls up to a stop after Henry's truck pulls into the lot beside them. The second video I wish I had the zoom option on my camera working smoother at the time. Something I learned on this day... when my camera gets reallly wet (which it was really wet that day) Sometimes basic functions dont react immediately...such as zooming out/in. So here is a video of Henry Spencer driving by with a message for Shawn & Gus (who are off camera for the scene) This past week PSYCH spent Halloween filming scenes for the season 7 Finale - NO SPOILER post11/4/2012 Last week I was eager to find Psych filming, as it was the last week of season 7, and depending what the powers that be at the NBC run USA Network that have already been grossly incomptent in mismanaging the shows premiering date, could end up being the shows final season.
My adventure started on the 29th. I followed a lead to South Vancouver, only to literally miss them finishing by less than 1/2 an hour. My buddy & I found out though that they were heading to the studio where they filmed partly on the 30th. As it turned out, they also did some on location shoots, and I headed over there to catch them the next day...only to AGAIN miss them, this time by mere minutes as I saw James Roday leave the set in 1 of their transportation vehicles. The original wrap date for the show was the 30th, so this was pretty disappointing. Occasionally, shows will need a couple days more than their original end date to finish up. Luckily, I would find out, this was the case for Psych. While I stood around, deciding what to do in the pouring rain I came across 1 of their film notices & saw a tidbit of hope, they still had to film on the 31st. About 500 feet from there, I found another film notice for Psych, also with filming for the 31st on the next block down. I was making SURE I didnt miss this. The morning of October 31st I made the trek over to the Lonsdale Quay area of North Vancouver, a city I had NEVER gone to for filming. Luckily, the locations were very close to the Quay, which is easy to find, since the aquatic transit vehicle, the seabus drops off right there. I walked over to where they were supposed to be filming, but nothing was around, except for a few no parking signs. The film notice suggested filming should start around 8 AM, and with it being 9 AM when I got there, I was quite confused to not see any setting up, filming, or taking down of the filming area. From there I walked around a corner to where I saw some pylons, and there I saw it.... the Blueberry, parked next to another film vehicle in a lot, all by itself. It would be almost FOUR HOURS till they started filming in that location. They did a few different scenes, some of which I am not going to entirely explain in this post, as I will save it for another blog post later this week with a mild spoiler (for those who dont read message boards or saw their S7 promo ad it might be a big spoiler). The scenes essentially show Shawn & Gus in the blueberry driving around following this other vehicle. Eventually we see scenes shot where James Roday & Dule Hill are at a hot dog stand with fistfulls of snacks, (hotdogs & drinks.). Gus & Shawn walk away from the truck, Shawn gets a call on his phone & they proceed to watch someone behind camera walk along holding a sign. That is, the end of the scene. Later that evening, I found Dry Gulch Slim & Ovaltine Jenkins doing interior scenes at a restaraunt on Lonsdale Ave, unfortunately, the only shots to be had from there was of the well lit outside of the building, as the filming was all indoors. So, here are pics from the day of shooting... and dont forget, I will have more photos from this day of shooting later in the week of another cast member doing part of the scene holding a very Psych-y sign as the person drives by Shawn & Gus. THIS POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR SEASON 7 OF "PSYCH". IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO SEE OR READ POSSIBLE SPOILERS, DO NOT CONTINUE.
. . . Last Warning . . This week, fans of the hit cult USA Network show "Psych" found out finally what the start date would be for the 7th season. Like a Ewan O'Hara punch, the collective community of fans were hit with a near knockout blow by the USA Network. Their beloved crime fighting team will not be seen till FEBRUARY 27th!! Yes, February 27th, 2013. To give some perspective on this disrespect, -Season 6, the season just before it started October 12, 2011. More than 16 months will have gone by till the season 7 premiere. - By February 27th, 2012, 9 episodes from season 6 had already passed. - Season 6 finale was April 11th, 2012. More than 10 months earlier than the season 7 start date. - The ENTIRE PRODUCTION of season 7 will have been filmed & wrapped for just a couple days short of FOUR MONTHS before the 1st episode of season 7 even airs. Now these facts lead to a pretty unappealing scenario for Psych-o's everywhere. Either The USA Network is hoping the show will fail, or they have already agreed to end the show & are trying to drag out the finale of the networks longest running show (wrestling doesnt count). Is it possible the networks longest running show is being given the heave-ho? In recent years USA Netowk has had some new blood in their pool with the success of Suits & Necessary Roughness. But they are still a network that has a limited amount of shows & Psych, their longest lasting one (no one counts WWE, sorry USA) could be on the outs?? Well, to hold over the Psych fans out there till the network brings back Maniac Maniac 19, Guy Buttersnaps, Lassie, Jules, Chief Vick, Woody, Buzz and yes Henry (he will be back in SOME capacity) here is a short video of Shawn (James Roday) & Gus (Dule Hill) shooting a scene for season 7 a few months ago. What you cant see in this scene is the Blueberry. Its off to the left in the repair shop. I cant say exactly what Shawn & Gus are discussing with the mechanic, but whatever it is, I am sure it has something to do with the blueberry being torn right in HALF as you can see from the pics from the blog I posted about this months ago. http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/6/post/2012/07/some-photos-of-psych-stars-james-roday-dule-hill-filming-scenes-for-season-7-w-bonus-timothy-omundson-sage-brocklebank.html So, here is a short video of 1 of their takes from that day. VIDEO PLAYER ON THIS SITE TENDS TO CROP OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SCREEN.... TO VIEW PROPERLY, SELECT FULL SCREEN OPTION! As usual, please dont re-post on youtube, tumblr, your own website, livejournal etc. Feel free to post the link TO this post, but uploading the video anywhere is will not be accepted. Thanks. THIS POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS ABOUT FILMING FOR SEASON 7 OF "PSYCH". DO NOT CONTINUE READING, OR VIEWING THE PHOTOS IF YOU WANT NO SPOILERS.
. . . LAST WARNING Back in late July I found the Psych set a couple times in the same week. The episode they were filming was a wedding episode. I cant say everything I saw (we were asked by crew to NOT post a specific spoiler we saw... even though after a specific cast member tweeted an outright lie about it I had the urge to blow it out of the water....but have resisted). What I can say is... the episode revolves around the wedding of Lassie (Timothy Omundson). The first scene we saw being shot for this episode was out at River Rock Casino & Hotel, which was filling in for the fictitious "Aqua Verde Resort" where the wedding (seemingly) took place. We saw Lassie coming down the spiral escalator followed by Shawn, Gus, *****, another actor I did not know & Woody several steps behind in just a thong & a bathrobe that was open for all to see. I did not shoot photos of this scene as we were asked quite politely not to, due to a specific spoiler they were trying to keep under wraps (which I think they grossly over reacted to btw). After the scene was filmed, I got autographs from Kurt Fuller & Timothy inside. We then went outside & caught the cast going to & returning from lunch. James Roday was 1st up & he willingly signed (although he has often shown to be less than excited to do so, he still does it...which I have to respect.), Dule Hill was next and chatted with my buddy about his pretty extensive Psych autograph collection. I suspect Dule left there thinking my buddy probably has a mental disorder, or was lying. Timothy Omundson followed, along with Kurt Fuller. On the way back from lunch, Kurt signed for my buddy after he joked with him that he didnt get him inside because he has a "no getting autographs from guys in just a speedo policy". We also got autographs from Corbin Bernsen who was on set. Maggie Lawson was showing up to set shortly after that, and my buddy got her to sign. We waited around in hopes of seeing guest star Kristy Swanson, but never did. I went back to the set the next day to try & get Kristy, but literally missed her by seconds, as she was in her transport vehicle leaving for the day as I arrived. A few days later I found out about a night shoot they had. On set was a huge limobus, which was also at the set at the casino a few days earlier. This scene saw Lassy, Shawn & Gus showing up to the Santa Ynez Police Dept (played by Notre Dame Secondary) with a man in fuzzy leopard skinned handcuffs in tow. In this scene Lassie is talking to someone on the other end who seems to be associated with the person in custody. Couldnt really hear exactly what was being said, but the jist of the phone call was that Lassie was coming for get the guy on the other end of the phone. Here are the pics from these 2 days below. As I stated waaaaay back in my last Psych blog http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/6/post/2012/07/some-photos-of-psych-stars-james-roday-dule-hill-filming-scenes-for-season-7-w-bonus-timothy-omundson-sage-brocklebank.html I had more photos from the set back in the 2nd week of May.
Since someone on tumblr asked me where they were, and I realized they were already edited & ready to go... well, here they are. Pics of James Roday, Dule Hill, a couple more of Timothy Omundson, a few of Sage Brocklebank (with an extra who he seemed chummy with that I wish I had got the name of to add to the blog) and a few of Maggie Lawson from the impromptu photo shoot they did outside that day. Sorry if some of them (especially the Lawsons) arent crisp, it was sunny/shady/cloudy nightmare going on out there & the lighting kept changing. PS - Since then, I have another set of Psych cast pics to post...but that will be another week or 2, as I have many other posts to make in the mean time... but I WILL get to them eventually. |
