EDIT - October 18, 2013 -
The photos below are for episode 405 Kupu'eu. I labeled them as Ep 404, as it was labeled "Episode 404 Kupu'eu" on the call sheet. THIS POST CONTAINS NOTABLE SPOILERS FOR EPISODES 404, 408 & 409 OF "HAWAII FIVE-O". If you do not wish to read or view spoilers of these episodes till you have seen them.... DO NOT continue. . . . last warning . . This past weekend an unusual film unit was seen around parts of the Vancouver area. While the signs said "K & M" (previously used by the TNT crime drama "King & Maxwell") it was not infact the start of season 2 of the recently canceled show shooting around Vancouver, instead it was scenes for season 4 of HAWAII FIVE-O. The reason for the Hawaii based & filmed show being shot in Vancouver, BC, Canada is still unconfirmed, but the majority of people believe it has to do with 1 of the shows 4 main stars, Grace Park. No stranger to Vancouver herself, Park was recently believed to be pregnant & had the child here in Vancouver, where she lives. To accommodate the fact the star needed to be close to home for now, H5O found themselves on unfamiliar ground filming scenes in Vancouver over 2 days. First up was scenes in Stanley Park & Chinatown on Saturday that featured Park as her H5O persona Kono Kalakaua in various scenes around the city. Later in the evening they moved to the often used Terminal City Ironworks where Daniel Dae Kim filmed some scenes as Chin Ho Kelly. On Sunday I caught up to the crew preparing to do scenes at TCI, this time with Grace & Ian Anthony Dale as Adam Noshimuri the on the run lovers did scenes which will be in episodes 404, 408 & 409. I managed to see part of 1 scene being shot for ep 404 which sees Kono & Adam in China driving & being chased. The pair turn off of a street & into an alley, inside TCI that is dressed up to be a side alley in China. The pair find out its a dead end & Adam tries to run before he is captured by 2 henchmen played by Mark Chin & Darryl Quon. The henchmen take Adam to an SUV & leave with their newly caught prisoner. There was no chance to see this whole scene in its entirety as the scene starts & ends within public view, but for about 20 seconds the scene vanishes inside the TCI compound before it leads up to its end. Because of this, you only get to see how the scene starts, and ends. Another spoiler I snagged by being observant, it sounds like Adam will be missing for at least 5 episodes as there was a scene filmed there earlier in the day for ep 409 where Chin & Kono are having a skype convo that states Kono is still looking for Adam. I managed to meet Grace Park after her filming was done. With help from a very co-operative crew member who essentially said "I'd like to bring her to you on her terms, is that ok?" and while I've heard that dozens of times over the years & more often than not, its a lie, this particular time, with this particular crew member, it was legit. She happily signed a couple items for me & nervously laughed and said yeah it was, when I said to her it was cool of the H5O crew to work around her schedule by moving production to Vancouver for a couple days. This crew member handled this as professionally as anyone on any set I can recall. While I was disappointed that I never caught up to Daniel Dae Kim who was here for filming, nor Alex O'Loughlin & Scott Caan who I don't believe were ever here as they were not even on the call sheet. Grace made up for it & solidified me as a fan of a show that was already on my top 15 list of current shows. The 4th season of Hawaii Five-O is on right now on CBS every Friday.

A few weeks ago, I saw King & Maxwell, the new crime-drama detective show on TNT filming what I assumed was scenes for their finale. Well jokes on me. The scenes were of course in last weeks episode. With the season finale to air tomorrow, I felt now would be a good time to post my last set from the show. Hopefully, this was not my last set from them all together, as I have actually found the show fun & hope for more of it. In this scene I saw the aftermath of the scene where the big guy just finished obliterating Kings car with shots. Here Michelle, armed with her gun & Sean, armed with uhhh his wit? sneak up behind the culprit & apprehend him just before Carter shows up. Throughout this season I caught them out a handful of times, and while I was unsure of the premise before seeing it & thus, didnt cover it maybe as hard as I should of, I really liked the overall dynamic & found the cast generally pleasant. My 1st encounter with Rebecca Romijn left me uncertain of her after I saw her refuse a fans request for a photo with, but as the season went on, she became much more accomodating of the regulars & even thanked 1 of the local photographers for his work on covering the show this season. Jon Tenney was also pleasant, and thanked me for watching. Ryan Hurst was an absolute joy to meet the 1 & only time I did. Maybe next season (fingers crossed) I will get to meet Chris Butler (Agent Carter) Michael O'Keefe (Agent Rigby) & Dichen Lachman (Benny) as well... now that I know who they are on the show. Catch the season 1 finale of King & Maxwell on TNT tomorrow night. Should be a good 1. Although the episode has already aired (episode 103), here a re a few photos of Rebecca Romijn on the set of King & Maxwell filming the scene where she sneaks a pic inside a cop car while investigating a case to clear the name of Agent Carter.
Also, the 1 and only set of photos I got of Ryan Hurst (Edgar) on set this season, after he filmed a scene. Still kicking myself for not waiting around that day, as I missed him filming his scene by less than 20 minutes because I left for a little while. I have learned to quite like this show in the short amount of time it has been on. Jon Tenney & Rebecca Romijn have had terrific chemistry as the former CIA agents turned P.I's. Ryan Hurst, as the socially challenged savant Edgar Roy is an absolute joy to watch, a real scene stealer. Even Michael O'Keefe & Chris Butler (Rigby & Carter) have carried their roles as FBI agents constantly crossing paths with King & Maxwell very well. I know it probably will never replace Leverage, but King & Maxwell has certainly minimized by disdain of the TNT network after canceling the 2013 People's Choice Award Winning show. Also glad to say, the cast seem quite friendly. Although my 1st interaction with Rebecca left me wondering if she was going to be a problem with fan interaction, she made up for it as the season went on. Jon Tenney was extremely pleasant, and Ryan Hurst I will have another set from K&M on their 2nd to last day of location shooting for the season a little later on, once I get caught up on a few other backlogged blogs I have to get thru. Tonight is the series premiere of another Canadian made crime drama "King & Maxwell" on cable network TNT.
Set in Washington, DC. This series will star Rebecca Romijn (X-Men, Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me) & Jon Tenney (The Closer, The Newsroom) as 2 Private Dectives who used to be in the Secret Service solving crimes in the U.S. Capital. The pilot, shot in Toronto, ON will air tonight at 10 PM ET/PT on TNT. The 2nd episode on, were shot here in Vancouver. I caught up to the production in its 1st week here & found the shows leads, Jon Tenney (Sean King) and Rebecca Romijn (Michelle Maxwell) filming a scene where they talk to Chris Butler & Michael O'Keefe (Agents Carter & Rigby of the FBI). I'll have a few more photos up later this month of another shoot with just rebecca Romijn, along with a small set of recurring character Ryan Hurst (Sons Of Anarchy). For now, I give you my 1st set from King & Maxwell. |
