The 2015 Best Of TV Awards are well under way. the 6th annual BOTVA's are still closing out some polls for the opening round, and already have shattered the previous record for votes in the first round combined. With over 487,000 votes already cast at the time of writing this post, the 2015 BOTVA's are well on their way to breaking the current record of just under 575,000 votes in a year. The Nomination rounds for Best Youth Actor, Actress and Talk Show Host took place a couple weeks ago. With both former winners in teh category this year, Isaac Hempstead-Wright "Game Of Thrones" as last years winner, and Robbie Kay "Heroes reborn" (won for work on "Once Upon A Time" in 2013 theres no shortage of contenders this year. A category thats often popular with its candidates saw several qualify after tweeting to their fans & friends. The first round leader came from an unexpected place, a childrens show, as Sloane Morgan Siegel from "Gortimer Gibbons Life On Normal Street" led voting with 577 votes. Ahead of Tanner Flood from "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" at 400. David Mazouz from "Gotham" was 3rd with 119. Jared Gilmore "Once Upon A Time" at 92 was 4th, and Chandler Riggs from "The Walking Dead" rounded out the top 5 at 88. Not once, or twice, but on three different occasions we checked in on voting results to find someone had gone thru considerable effort to try & get the majority of the field in a tie. So because of their efforts, the results are muuuch tighter than they probably would have been otherwise, and a couple of "probable" semi-finalists find themselves on the outside looking in because lesser known candidates were propped up by this odd voting pattern. One thing that was for certain though, Camren Bicondova from "Gotham" led from start to end with 1457 votes. Back in 2nd was Danika Yarosh from "Heroes reborn" with 221, narrowly beating out a write in vote candidate Chandler Kinney "Gortimer Gibbons Life On Normal Street" at 218. In 4th is the 2014 winner Maisie Williams "Game Of thrones" at 203. Clare Foley of "Gotham" rounds out the top 5 at 200. Here are the full results. The 2015 Best Of TV Awards are well under way. the 6th annual BOTVA's are still closing out some polls for the opening round, and already have shattered the previous record for votes in the first round combined. With over 400,000 votes already cast at the time of writing this post, the 2015 BOTVA's could have 1/2 a million votes before we even get to round two. The Nomination rounds for Favorite TV Character and Show took place a couple weeks ago. Often the largest nominee pool, and frequently seeing large vote surges for the top. This year was no different, past years has seen the 2nd place nominee round vote getter in 2013 & 1st in 2014 fail to even make the finals, and only 5 total between the two years, out of the top 5 from each year made the top 10 in the finals, due to lack of actual support once voting is limited to 1 vote a person, this years crop has several names that I can see a probable outcome happening with. With 6 of the top 10 making their first ever venture into the semi-finals, this list has lots of potential for 1 or 2 of them not seeing the finals despite their big 1st round pushes. The first round of voting for characters was dominated by female characters, with 5 of the top 6 and 7 of the top 10 spots going to female characters. last years winner felicity Smoak from Arrow finished in that top 5 grouping at 4th, just behind Iris West from The Flash with 10363 votes, Samantha Groves/Root from Person Of Interest 8135 and Dr. Hannibal Lecter from hannibal in 3rd with 7636. The Nomination rounds for Best Non-Human Character or Prop and Best Couple took place a couple weeks ago. The Non-Human Character/Prop category for once has some new competition, as the defending 5X champion, The Impala from "Supernatural" wasnt the run away leader that it has been in past years. Two Person Of Interest challengers come out of the first round with the most votes. In fact, the Impala finished down in 5th in the opening round. Of course, in the Best couple category, lots of voting happened, both for valid balloted nominees, and, as always for some wrong choices. Including the much talked about, and controversial fight by Hannibal fans to get 1 candidate validated by them. The Non-Human Character or Prop category was ruled in round 1 by Person Of Interest. Bear, the shows large Germany Shepherd dog with 978 votes beat out The Machine, the all knowing mysterious powerful machine with 900.
