Its always a good thing when filming is so close to you that you can sit on your porch & shoot the scene.... now only if I had a better camera eh? 

Supernatural filmed less than 500 feet from my door recently for a scene in season 9. It was the 2nd set I found from that day for the show. Earlier I caught Castiel doing a scene in Chinatown.

In this scene, we see Sam & Dean (Jared Padalecki & Jensen Ackles) leave a corner store (I thought it was dressed up as a pharmacy at the time...till I saw a close up of the inside... btw - this is at least the 2nd time they have used this location.... its also the store from Appointment In Samarra... but has closed down & been renovated since then) with some goodies (maybe some pie?) and head towards an alley. When they get there, they are confronted by a man. I couldnt see that scene, but the film notice told me what was going to happen.

In between takes, both actors took the time to wave & acknowledge a group of kids from the neighbourhood that were out there watching them film their  scenes. Later, the group, along with me, moved to the next street over to watch from the backside of where they were filming. In between takes, Jensen came out a couple times & was playing around on 1 take, showing off his boxing skills with his bodyguard. In a rare moment (at least in my many experiences) he noticed the group standing watching him, even pointing them out to the guard, and went back to goofing off & being animated in whatever story he was explaining to his bodyguard. Usually I find Jensen tends to try & avoid being at the other end of a camera when hes on set. 

Jared spent most of the time (from the times I was able to really see them closer up) in the alley. Thus why I didn't really get any shots of him except when he was right on set filming. But I will have another set of the boys from a couple days later coming up in the next week or 2, more Jareds (and crisper photos..since they were in the daytime) in that set.

Supernatural moves to Tuesday nights this year on The CW starting October 8, 2013.

Last month, I came across the set of the most popular  show the CW has ever had. Supernatural.

Now in season 9, the multi-time People Choice Award winning show was filming  in New Westminster, BC in a lot beside the Canada Games Pool.

On set, the Impala, Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester & frequent Vancouver show director Guy Norman Bee.

Of course Jensen Ackles & Jared Padalecki were doing scenes where they were "investigating" something unusual. This time, it looks like it attracted the army or special forces of some type. I really didnt see too much, the only scenes I saw were the Winchester arriving, getting out of Baby & walking over to the scene, of course strolling right past some cop who apparently knows less than a LARPer about how FBI credentials should look.

I managed to get a few good photos of them before I took off. One of my favorite is a pic of Guy Bee talking to Jensen Ackles. I fould it funny, because this past year Guy finished 2nd in my Best Of TV Awards voting for Best Director. The man who meat him? Jensen Ackles. So maybe Guy was asking him for tips. This past weekend, the largest promotional event for TV, movies & animation happened in San Diego.

Comic-Con took place from Wednesday night thru Sunday evening, as thousands  of people went to San Diego to see new promotional materials of their fave shows, movies & comic franchises. Of course, they also went for the stars. Comic-Con has become a promotional tool, and that means bringing your biggest stars to promote your product.

After an epicly horrid year last year for Vancouver shot shows (mainly because SDCC was earlier than years prior & a later than usual start for a  couple shows) there was very little in the way of seeing the Vancouver based shows & movies going to, or returning from the big event.

This year however, it was the opposite. Every show, wit the exception of 2, that were at SDCC had some or all of their cast that attended go through Vancouver Airport to get to SDCC.

Supernatural sent off 4 of their most notable cast. Misha Collins, who plays angel Castiel, and Mark Sheppard who plays the king of hell Crowley, both went to the event. While we didnt see them going to or coming back, we did catch the shows 2 largest stars returning.

Jensen Ackles (aka - Dean Winchester) was the 1st to return, and took the unfamiliar route of coming down "the row" a long railed off area that most celebs take to get out of the airport. This was possibly the 1st time I can remember him going this way, and clearly if it werent for him having to find his driver that he gets on the Comic-Con dime he likely wouldnt have gone that way.

Jensen stopped to sign for everyone there & was in a really good mood. Certainly better mood than last time I saw him when he refused to sign for me because as he put it I was "on the bucket list" (yes, thats the list I was on apparently) for angering Jim Beaver by breaking his return scoop allegedly (I was contacted by someone from SPN about that blog post saying they were displeased with me posting it.). But new season & the responsiblity of being a dad now, all is forgotten on that 1 off encounter last year, as I expected would be the case. We said we heard about Jareds baby announcement and he replied "ah, oh, thats out there?". I congratulated him on his new child, he  thanked us all for the congrats & went on his way.

About 5 minutes later (oh the joys of a camera that records the time the pics were shot eh?), Jared Padalecki (aka - Sam Winchester) strolled thru. Like Jensen, there was some baby news of his own to congratulate him on since the last time I saw him last season. His wife Genevieve & him had announced during SDCC they were expecting their 2nd child soon. I recall seeing Jared for the 1st time after his 1st child & he was pretty overjoyed at the whole thing. He glowed with that same excitement talking about the 2nd one. I also wished him a happy belated birthday & he thanked me for that too. He then went on his way to find his driver.


As he was leaving, he saw us getting autographs from Colton Haynes from Arrow & was peering over out shoulders to see who we were getting.

A little while later we also saw Lucifer coming into town...but that isn't because Mark Pellegrino is here to resurrect the role, he is on the Vancouver shot "Tomorrow People". As well, saw Jim Michaels returning

 At Comic-Con several things were announced for the show. Most notably.

- Felicia Day will be back this season to play her character Charlie, the geeky lesbian "little sister" type the Winchesters have crossed paths with a few times the last couple seasons. 

- Jim Beaver (this time without trying to sneak in & out for his work) will return this season, but apparently there will be something different about his return. 

- A Supernatural spin-off is being discussed. Will it be Castiel? Or Garth? Or Charlie? Its really the only options I can see, unless they did a back story of Bobby?

A few weeks ago I saw a tweet from a former regular on Supernatural saying he had a Pilot to shoot in Washington state.

Unforutnateiy, I have learned not to trust tweets from SPN cast. Jim Beaver last year with his abominable snowman movie, Madison McLoughlin just recently, and even in person I have had guest stars claim they werent here for Supernatural.... so when I saw a tweet from Jim Beaver saying he was filming in Washington State for a pilot I could find no info on anywhere, I just knew what was coming.

Sure enough, he arrived in town & was more than shocked to see me there along with his driver waiting for him. After a moment of "Oh crap, the secret is out" look on his face, he asked me not to tell anyone till after the ep. I told him "I'll hold off till the CW promos it". He said "they wont, its supposed to be a suprise for the fans".

Well, like everything the CW has ever done, they got it wrong. Instead of a big shocker for the fans next week...they sure enough showed the ever so breifest clip of Bobby Singer in this weeks promo ad for next weeks episode 819 "Taxi Driver". While most may have missed it, the small percentage of fans who didnt have already started tweeting about it & ruining the big reveal.

About a month ago I caught Supernatural out filming scenes for episode 818 in Vancouver near the Train Station.

For the set of scenes I saw over 2 nights, there was 4 actors in the scene. Of course, the always familiar Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester & Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester were clearly recognizable. But who were the other 2?? Well, I still dont know who 1 is, and the other I didnt know right away. When I got home from shooting the 1st night, I asked a friend if she recognized "the girl with the gun" as I described it to her. She instantly said without hesitation she thought it was Madison McLaughlin, known to SPN fans as "Krissy" from "Adventures In Babysitting", the other woman I still dont know.

The next day, the same 4 cast members were on set, and after shooting that evenings scene I knew my friends instinct about Krissy being back was right.

I sat on this spoiler for awhile, thinking I had it in my pocket.... the The CW went & posted a promo showing Madison McLaughlin plain as day in it, killing the spoiler.

So, here are the admittedly grainy photos (shooting from about football field away in the pitch dark & smoke machines going will do that) from those 2 nights of Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Madison McLaughlin & still unnamed 2nd actress (ANYONE who knows, please feel free to let me know & I will revise this).

As you likely know by now by reading the other 3 blogs (links below) I posted from the filming I saw for episode 817... I had a LOT of photos to wade thru.
