Some BTS photos of Big Eyes - directed by Tim Burton. Starring Christoph Waltz, Amy Adams and Jason Schwartzman shot in Vancouver - opens December 25th
This week, Christmas Day in fact, a movie that filmed in Vancouver about popular 1950s painter Margaret Keane, and her fraudster ex-husband Walter Keane titled "Big Eyes" will open in theatres across the country.
Director Tim Burton (Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands) brought his vision for the film to Vancouver to film the majority of the project.
Academy Award winners Amy Adams (American Hustle) and Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained, Inglourious Basterds) brought to life the characters of Margaret & Walter for this film. The film also stars Jason Schwartzman, Terence Stamp, Krystin Ritter and Danny Huston.
I caught up to the production a few times over their time here. The 1st time included a large block long set up in historic Gastown to look like the 1950s in San Francisco.
The scenes seem to be between Jason Schwartzman as "Ruben" an art gallery owner that Waltz's Walter Keane character is seen across the street mocking in front of his own gallery. A seemingly endless array of 1950s era cars were also brought in to give the proper look to the scene.
Later on in the shoot I would catch the production in the area near the Vancouver Art Gallery, then in the art gallery in its final days.
There I would get my 1st look at Amy Adams in her Margaret wardrobe as she walked to & from set one day. I also bumped into Terence Stamp (Superman) one day near the set when he showed up for lunch.
I also managed to meet Tim Burton one of the days, as the iconic director stopped & signed for me, and took a photo with despite his busy schedule and severe cold/flu he had at the time which actually caused production to be halted for a couple days.
Big Eyes hits theatres December 25, 2014.
