THIS IS A RE-POST (Relocated from a former subsetrion of the site solely for FTWD blogs, but after no follow up materials to add to it, the section was re-purposed for another show, and this post was relocated here) I rarely am shocked by the absurdity of the film industry. I get it. A lot of egomaniacs and divas populate the industry. So when I see childish antics taking place by a production, or the actors themselves, it rarely phases me too much. I often get claims like "oh can you move, your in the shot" despite the camera facing the other way & I'm standing behind a Canada Post box in front of a Vancouver Police car outside a Skytrain station for a show set in the U.S. Absurd comes with the territory. Most of the time, I tell them "just dont BS me and I'll oblige" ...and I do. Productions like Arrow, Fringe, Psych and Continuum which have, or do shoot here have been so respectful and truthful with me, if they say "he can we have you move right now?" I don't even hesitate to accommodate their requests. They've earned that level of respect. Some other productions... well, I've more than once forced them to provide their permits to an officer to have me move, because THEY have NOT earned my respect. Safe to say FTWD will be finding me more challenging to work with than those productions I named earlier have based solely on their 1st day of shooting. So this should give you some idea how absurd the crew for the AMC companion series Fear The Walking Dead (aka - "Cobalt", and "Stalwart") has been when I tell you THEY were being beyond absurd. Lets not even count the fact they had extras wear massive raincoats over top of their wardrobes to avoid possibly being shot in them by photographers or fans. Lets not even take into account the 3 or 4 umbrellas that various crew members willingly were holding up to minimize what onlookers could see ON A PUBLIC CITY STREET of a show that was literally in its 1st few hours of production and has never aired a single second yet. The real kicker was talking with various crew who claimed they didn't know what they were working on, when you told them what it was, they would pretend that you were wrong, and when finally were unable to avoid lying anymore about it, would tell you outright they aren't allowed to talk about it. Or the 1 crew member who told me they wouldn't give him a call sheet, and he had to hand over his photo before work started. Now, those last 2 claims I cant confirm as its just 1 persons claim, but based on everything I saw outside of that, it seems plausible to me... which is the scary part. This production team is treating its crew like that, so it doesn't shock me they are treating the public so poorly. Now perhaps as time goes on, as does happen with many productions after they start off a bit militant (nothing as bad as this production though) they will chill out. But for now, this production is not a fan friendly, and it sounds like, not a workplace friendly, environment. Perhaps they forgot when they agreed to come here that this is Vancouver and not Atlanta. You come to Vancouver with an understanding, and that understanding is that the public will watch you film AND they have that right when you are out in public.... anyways... enough of this rant. Lets get on to what you all came here for. Pics and a scene description. Fear the Walking Dead shot scenes yesterday on a 1 block long completely surrounded on 3 sides street in downtown Vancouver. The scenes mostly seemed to entail crowds forming to protest something. Throughout the day, various cast shot various scenes in this alley, including Alycia Debnam Carey as "Alicia" and Frank Dillane as "Nick" with a 3rd actor who I have yet to identify. Cliff Curtis as "Travis" later shot a scene by himself off to the side with seemingly no other cast in the shot. After their lunch break more shooting with the mystery cast member that I couldn't identify happened, then later they shot scenes with Cliff & Elizabeth Rodriguez as "Liza" running towards the middle of the commotion. Also spotted on set yesterday was Kim Dickens as "Madison", as reported in this article on VanCityBuzz. The show will also star Mercedes Mason. I am pleased to also announce, despite the best efforts of the crew, so far, the cast have been exceptionally nice when I have met them. I have had a chance to meet Kim, Alycia and Curtis so far, and all 3 were terrific. Fear The Walking Dead (or whatever the hell it will be called by the time it airs....) will premiere on AMC June , 2015. With all new productions here. I just want to remind new viewers to my site. Please DO NOT remove water marks from photos if you re-post them to your blogs, tumblr, facebeook groups etc. They will be removed if found. Please credit the site when using the photos. You have permission to post SOME photos (3 to 6) in a post elsewhere, but not all. Link back to this post if you want people to see them all.
