If you are confused on how many you can post, ASK FIRST, and I will let you know. Earlier this month, the cast & crew of Superman & Lois were filming scenes at the 200 Granville Plaza. the episode is being directed by Gregory Smith. The scenes shot on this day included Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent, and Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane. In a daytime scene, and in a later scene Tyler was Superman. When I first showed up to set that day, I took a look around while they were setting up the first shot, and found a couple set pieces, including one for "Centennial Station" at "Centennial Plaza", on the Centennial Station sign, had a bunch of transit routes on it, which I found funny they all were just labelled "Station #__", instead of a specific location like most city routes would be. But the lines the routes were on, all had specific names. There were some generic ones like "Waterfront, Centennial, Riverfront, Central, Southview, & East Side", but there were 4 other lines on the map, with "Siegel, Shuster, O'Neil, Maggin", which happen to be the surnames of Joe Shuster, one of the co-creators of Superman Jerry Siegel, the other co-creator of Superman Dennis O'Neil, a long time writer for DC Comics Elliot S. Maggin, another long time DC Comics writer. Also seen on set, was 1 sign for a "G.A.N.G. Busters" initiative. I didnt think a lot about it, till someone told me theres a character of the picture on that sign, by the name of.... you guessed it "Gangbuster". At the first location, under neath, & across the street of the night scene location, Clark & Lois are walking along a street in Metropolis, with reporter badges on. One thing I over heard to give context on the scene, is they are there investigating a murder. A bit later, they moved above where they started to a walk way, and Clark & Lois have a short talk, before the pair leave arm in arm. A bit later, they moved across the street to the 200 Granville location for the night scene. This location has been used in the Arrowverse a few times in the past, including Supergirl season 3 premiere, The Flash season 5 finale, as well as The Flash season 4 finale. In this scene, they had Superman there, and he was looking a little different. Despite the fact it didnt rain more than a brief sprinkle the entire night, they had his hair looking very damp. The scene has a bunch of extras standing around in an area called "Centennial Square", Superman then shows up, by landing on the ground. Everyone looks at him, as he assures them everything will be okay. At 1 point, the director told the onlookers to look at him as if it was the 1st time they saw him, which I found weird since he used to live in Metropolis full time in the past. Before he can do much more than tell them everything will be fine, something is in the sky, crashing towards the earth, and he leaps off to take it on....and thats all there really was. After that Tyler wrapped. Weird part was, when they wrapped, there was 30 or so onlookers watching them film. As soon as they called wrap, EVERYONE in unison, with the exception of me and another fan, left, like as if they were under some type of mind control. It was wild. This gave me and that fan the opportunity, with a suddenly much smaller crowd, to get a photo with Tyler in the costume. He took a bunch of photos with crew members first, and said some good byes to many of them. I asked him if he had heard anything on if they have been told a date to return for season 4, and he said not yet, but assumes it will be about the same time of year as season 3 started. Then he left, for the final time that season. After Tyler wrapped, the crew moved down to the street below where they were filming, to do another scene that had no cast in it. This is where I think the most interesting stuff of the evening happened, even though there was nothing to see, because of what was HEARD, and what I saw at 1 point off set. They shot a scene with a bunch of extras walking around, then suddenly stopping to look at the centre of an intersection. The directors comments directing how the crowd should react is the key point for this part of the post. He tells the fans "you see Superman crawl out of the hole, he looks injured"., the next part of the scene, he then tells them "something else is coming out of the hole, its a monster", the last part is he tells the crowd to follow a green laser pointer on a wall up into the air, to represent these two characters going up high into the air. At one point, they filmed 1 singular take of a tripod set up right in the middle of the intersection. I am unsure if it is supposed to represent something, or if its a piece of tech they use for a specific look. But they only shot it once. The rest of the time was spent on these extras, and 1 bit of filming of looking down a road at traffic driving. NOW, why does this part of the evening mean something. Its what I happened to read earlier in the evening. On the storyboard, I saw 1 panel that had 1 specific line & a drawing interpretation "his spikes grow", with a rough drawing of a monster with jagged spikes growing out of him (I almost never show photos I ever get of any information I see that isnt ON set [aka - in front of the camera], but you clearly by now if you are a regular know my track record on things I see at a set). That is all I will say on the matter. IF you do not get the connection of the two parts there, I suppose you can just wait till the dozens of theory videos come out. But I suspect, after the reaction I got telling that story to two people, a lot of people will jump to this theory (once again) upon reading this. Video will come later on my YOUTUBE CHANNEL. So check in there for those later on in a few weeks. Some of the videos will be on the Patreon page for video tier members in the next couple weeks. Superman & Lois season 3 will airs in 2023 on The CW in the U.S. You can now get exclusive first looks on our Patreon ahead of these blog posts. Earlier this season, the cast & crew of Superman & Lois were filming scenes at the Vancouver Art Gallery. the episode is being directed by Elizabeth Henstridge. The scenes shot on this day included Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, and Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane. Also on set was a currently unidentified actress, playing an unknown character. In the scene, the unidentified character is standing up on a ledge, then Lois comes in and talks to her, and she gets off the ledge, and seems to give Lois a hug or something. Then Superman shows up, talks to Lois, and they have a talk, that I was told by crew was "very emotional scene", before the pair hug. Also, before theres any confusion... the pics of him with something in his ear is NOT part of the scenes. Thats him listening to whatever he listens to in between takes before he has to shoot. I had kind of forgot about this set till this past week. So here it is, better late than never, right? Video will come later on my YOUTUBE CHANNEL. Wednesday, the cast & crew of Superman & Lois were filming scenes in the Gastown region of downtown Vancouver. the episode is being directed by Jai Jamison. The scenes shot for this day included Tyler Hoechlin as Superman. Also on set was a currently unidentified actress, playing a character that in the scene Superman was calling "Peia", but on a storyboard, it said "Onomatopoeia". For a large part of the day, the crew tried to cover her from my view, which I found odd, since she is not wearing any type of costume. The scenes shot were in Metropolis, and had the Peia character standing in the middle of a street in front of some Mannheim Tower ads, with a bunch of wind machines making it windy & leaves flying around (and gave some great Supermans cape flapping shots). Superman then comes in, lands and confronts her. He tells Peia that he can try to help her, she tells him he cant, before doing something that makes him fly backwards. Later, they were doing a scene where he is slowly moving towards her as shes crumpled down on the ground, and he reaches his hand out, but I couldnt see the end result of how the scene plays out, as the filming angles were so wide I had to constantly move to stay out of their shot (in fact on 1 take I was in the shot for a large part of the take, but wasnt told it till it was too late). On 1 of the times Tyler came out of the holding area to do a scene, he came out with a camera, and encouraged me to take photos of him taking photos of me. So, of course I did. He was in a really good mood all day. On 4 different occasions throughout the day he stopped to meet fans, which is something hes rarely done (primarily because the show started in the covid era, and since then has been downtown rarely) in his time on the show. It was really great to see him getting more comfortable with meeting fans. Later they didnt another scene after lunch up the street a bit with Metropolis Police cars lights flashing, and Superman doing something, but I couldnt get a good view of it. So I went home. I also saw Alex Garfin at the set earlier in the day, but didnt take any photos of him, because I assumed he would be coming back to work after lunch, but he never did. He was not in wardrobe, he seemingly was just there to grab a free lunch & leave (or they had a 2nd unit filming nearby that no one knew about). Video will come later on my YOUTUBE CHANNEL. YesteTuesdayday, I caught up with the cast & crew of Superman & Lois shooting a scene in downtown Vancouver, not even 24 hours after I travelled 2 hours each way to see them for this set report. They were filming scenes for the 1st episode of the season, directed by The Flash star Tom Cavanagh. The episode title is "Closer". The scenes shot for this day included Tyler Hoechlin in a brand new Superman suit. Also on set was Paul Lazenby, who you may remember from season 1 as Atom Man. The scenes shot were just a continuation of 1 large scene, that saw Atom Man & Superman fighting in the streets of Metropolis. At one point Atom Man goes running at Superman with a cab door, and they fight over the door, before Atom Man hits him with it, and knocks him away, but Superman returns, and Atom Man throws the door on the ground, as Superman runs at him & they apparently go up into the sky. If you have not yet seen it, I also saw a set the day before far outside the city, that was set in Smallville. You can find that set HERE with the new Jonathan on set. If you are confused on how many you can post, ASK FIRST, and I will let you know. Yesterday, I caught up with the cast & crew of Superman & Lois shooting a scene out in Cloverdale (the town where their big Smallville downtown set is.... but this wasnt there, it was a few blocks away). They were filming scenes for the 1st episode of the season, directed by The Flash star Tom Cavanagh. The episode title is "Closer". The scenes shot for this day included Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, and the recently recast Jonathan Kent character. Michael Bishop, was filming on set in his first public shoot since getting the role. In the first scene, the pair were driving 1 of the new trucks that the Kent boys grandad gave them at the end of last season down a street in Smallville, with Lois in the passengers side clearly giving him lessons. They had the truck up on a flatbed, so they could film the scene with camera crew propped up on the side of the truck. At 1 point I guess he hits the brake too hard, and they both lunge forward and back. This causes frustration for Jonathan. Eventually, the pair continue on their practice. A bit later, we see them now outside the Smallville DMV. Now inside a light blue minivan/small truck type vehicle. Jonathan in the drivers seat, with Lois talking to him through the window. Behind Lois is another car driving by, stopping and going a few times. I found it kind of comical that they had to get a stunt driver for this, and his entire job was to drive poorly for the scene. A man then walks up towards the car, it is Jonathans former football coach, played by Danny Wattley. Coach Gaines gets in the passengers seat, Lois leaves, and Jonathan starts up the car. I think at 1 point I heard Danny being given direction to spill more coffee, so I suspect Jonathan causes the vehicle to jerk suddenly as he did while driving with Lois. The first half of my day there the crew could not have been much nicer. They were asking me if I got anything good, 1 even thanksed me for covering the show, and 1 even was nice enough to tell me the current scene probably wouldnt be too good for photos, but after that they would be filming down the street & you might get better photos there. However, on the back half of it. Two different crew members decided all of a sudden LONG AFTER I had already got shots of those on set, they were going to try & stop me from getting photos. First off was a woman (seen in a couple of my photos in a red shirt & camo pants) who decided to use the always ineffective umbrella trick, and even coerced another staff member into doing it with her. I of course still got shots, as I show you below. Just dont bother crews. You are really only going to make me try more. Later was my friend at the end of the set in the yellow shirt, who was trying to pretend to be accidentally standing in my way the whole time. As you can see, he too was very very successful at his job. I found extra odd these two wannabe bodyguards were acting this way, since it was very clear the actors were in a good mood, and even smiled when they noticed I was shooting them. At 1 point Michael gives me a thumbs up in a video clip I have. Because of those crew members unneccesary rudeness, I opted to NOT go home right after they wrapped, and instead decided to follow them to the next location. I sometimes wonder if crews really want me to stick around, because the easiest way to do that is annoy me for no reason. After that scene ended, the production moved a 3 minute drive down the street, back to their downtown Smallville set at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds. I went on foot, and it took me about 30 minutes, as the front gates of it are on the far side of the fairgrounds. When I got there, the main street of the set seemed quiet, and inactive, so I suspected they were filming somewhere out of visual range, and I called it a day..... but not before taking a few general view photos of the set up for you all. I am sure by now you know there is more S&L content coming up from the very big public shoot in downtown Vancouver from yesterday at the time this blog went up. I will have that blog up later this week (maybe tomorrow? But more likely Fri or Sat). Video will come later on my YOUTUBE CHANNEL. So check in there for those later on in a few weeks.
