. . . . . FINAL WARNING . . . . . . . So last Wednesday night I made the short 10 minute walk down to Gastown to watch a verrrrrry spoilery scene for the show Fringe. On the film notice they gave local residents & businesses to warn them of the filming, they added a piece of info that made more people than usual want to come out & see the scene. The scene speicifically called for "2 main actors to kiss". Of course the addition of "main actors" was notable, as it meant it was going to be out of the core 7 regulars Josh, Anna, Seth, John, Jasika, Blair or Lance. Of course the vast majority of people had narrowed it down to 2 probable couples. Joshua & Anna, or Seth & Anna. Of course, almost every person that came to that decision was hoping the couple would be Josh & Anna. I went down earlier in the afternoon to see what I could see for them setting up the scene & hopefully catch them filming somewhere else close by, which is often the case. Today was sadly not 1 of those cases, as they spent the 1st part of the day in studio. To make this worse, Wednesday was the coldest day this winter, with the temperature dipping into the double digits below freezing. Even more random, it was colder in the middle of the afternoon, than it was later that evening once it was dark when the scene was shot. I came back around 6 PM & the final touches were being done on prepping the area for the scene. I assumed they were going to be filming on 1 corner, as it turned out, the scene was actuallly on the street directly across from this...which made a couple things problematic. 1, we would be quite far away from the actual scene being shot...and 2, Could not just sit inside 1 of the several restaraunts/stores to stay warm and still see what was going on. Eventually they started the filming. At first, only 1 main actor was seen. It was Anna Torv (Agent Olivia Dunham) in her "our world" look. She drives a car up, parks it, gets out & starts walking down a street. Nothing overly special. Certainly not the big spoilery scene advertised. I joked with another regular of film shoots that it seemed strange they hadadded that part on the film list as it wasnt needed, and she joked the fans were going to be mad when they dont actually film that scene. Eventually they finished that take & moved equipment around to set up for the next angle of the scene. While they did that, I noticed the second actor that was going to be needed for the scene. Joshua Jackson was on set, hanging around in the frigid conditions chatting with crew & seeming unfaszed by the considerably chilly conditions by Vancouver standards. He was talking with everyone, hugging people, giving out kisses to female crew members, it was as if he hadnt been there for a year. Him & Anna shared a few laughs along with 3 or 4 other crew all huddled about in the middle of the street, then a call to start the scene was made and everyone took off for their positions. The 1st take was Olivia walking down the street as before, then Peter comes towards her out of nowhere & they run up to each other, Peter grabs her and spins her around with 1 arm. No kiss. Clearly just a practice run for the later shot. After that take the crew did final adjustments, while Josh took off from the set. I tried to get his autograph as he hurried away & he said "I'm coming right back, I just have to move my car" and he wasnt joking... he literally had to go & move his car. A few minutes later he was back on set & ready to shoot again. They did a couple more takes of Peter grabbing her & spinning her around, but still never seemed to be a kiss. We were then asked by crew to not photograph anything & of course everyone for the mostpart did as asked, the occasional newcomer to the crowd would not obey, and eventually they crew just gave up asking people again. During another long break while they changed camera angles, I managed to get Joshua to sign a few autographs. He stopped to do photos with some fans & autographs for others. As more & more takes took place, the scene became more & more passionate. First it was just a grab & spin her around, then it was grabbing her, holding her closely, spinning her around & gazing at each other... then eventually, they added a kiss... then it turned into a long kiss. Shortly after 1 of the set of takes, I got Anna to sign some autographs for me, and with MY part of the mission completed... I opted to go home as I was starting to feel the cold a lot more than I did 3 hrs earlier when I 1st got there. If there was more to the scene afterwards I didnt see. It was too cold to wait it out all night... although by the time I left, they had less than 2 hrs of filming time left, so there probably was not much mo Below is some of the pics from my shoot. I wish I had my old camera. Although it still wouldnt have been perfect from that distance, they would have been a little less grainy/fuzzy. As I said to some of you, I would post a a couple of the pics from the main moments of the scene, but not the best ones. So, that is whats here... a couple pics so you can SORTA see what happened. For pics that are better, you will just have to check back the week of the episode. I'll post more from this scene then. Also, dont forget to vote for Peter & Olivia in the "Best Of TV Polls" going on RIGHT NOW! Some polls have already wrapped, more wrap today, including best couple. Others like best actor/actress in a sci-fi & best sci-fi show wrap later this week.

So today actor/director Ron Howard posted a tweeted I was frankly shocked took so long. https://twitter.com/#!/RealRonHoward/status/16087886453
his daughter, actress Bryce Dallas Howard (Twilight, 50/50, The Help) and her husband Seth Gabel (Fringe) gave birth to a new baby girl. The girl Beatrice Jean Howard-Gabel was actually born 2 days ago on January 19th, but only now is news of the joyous moment making its way to the internet thru the proud grandpas tweet. I have met both Seth & Bryce many times & they are both classy as they get in the celebrity circles. In celebration of this event for the couple. Here is some pics of the proud papa that I took awhile ago that I frankly, forgot to post. Its Seth Gabel playing Lincoln Lee on the set of Fringe here in Vancouver. Unsure what the episode # for this is, but it was filmed November, 1st, 2011. Congratulations to Seth & Bryce on your new daughter. If you dont want to read any spoilers.... DO NOT READ THIS POST OR LOOK AT PHOTOS IN THIS POST!!!
. . . FINAL WARNING! . . . . . Earlier this week I beared the reasonably cold weather Vancouver has had this week to go down to a rare Supernatural downtown location shoot. The 1st location I stumbled on was not yet in use, but was being prepped for a later shoot. It included putting up fake signs for an Animal Shelter in Idaho. Shortly after I came across the current filming location. There I found Sam (Jared Padalecki) & Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester doing what they do best. Pretending to be someone else. They were inside a police crime area, with a cop car, ambulance, coroner & a red truck scattered about in the area from "Kootenai County" which a friend of mine from idaho instantly told me is the Couer d'Alene area of Northern Idaho. The boys were doing scenes where they chatted with a shorter older man man then followed him over to a different spot. Short, boring, and not overly spoiler inducing. A little later on there was a scene with a man & a dog coming out of the makeshift pet shelter I talked about earlier. I only stayed for a couple takes of this scene as it was fudgin cold out, and no primary actors were there for it. The scene seemed to be the man walking with a limp, and bringing his dog out of the shelter, putting him on the ground, walking to an alley & then looking down the alley at "something". Last set of the evening was across the street from the "animal shelter" where I saw 2 actors doing a scene. The 1/2 dozen or so hardcore fans that waited around all instantly noticed 1, Mr. Sam Winchester... but I was shocked that I seemed to be the only 1 who immediately noticed the other man... Mark Pellegrino. We were told to all stand back so far that we couldnt see much except the very beginning second or so of the scene that Sam & Lucifer did. It entailed Sam walking into an alley reading a piece of paper, and Lucifer of course tagging along. After that scene was filmed. The main actors were wrapped, and they moved inside for scenes without any of the primary actors, and I decided to call it a night, since I was going to be busy for a couple more days this week, and the weather was expected to be even several degrees colder (which it was) over those days & I was still fighting a cold. If you follow me on twitter, I am sure you have seen me rant frequently lately about how shitty my camera is. Again, I feel it let me down. My old camera, although it wouldnt have aced any of the pics, would have probably still done at least 30-50% better, and thus, there would have been a few less grainy/fuzzy/blurry shots than there is in the batch below. Last week I took the hour or so trip to the far end of Richmond by skytrain & bus to the small village of Steveston. Of course, most Once Upon A Time (finalist for Best New Program in our Best Of TV Awards 2011 polls) fans know, Steveston is where much of downtown Storybrooke is set.
This week they were filming scenes for episode 15, which I found out later is being directed by Tremors director Ron Underwood which from what I have been told is supposed to centre around the character of Little Red Riding Hood/Ruby (played by actress Meghan Ory). So I headed out there, as Meghan was 1 of the few cast members on the show I have yet to get autographs from. Earlier in the day I saw a scene with Ginnifer Goodwin as Mary Margaret & Beverly Elliott as Granny being shot that I posted earlier in this blog. http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/1/post/2012/01/once-upon-a-time-photos-of-ginnifer-goodwin-and-beverly-elliott-doing-scenes-for-episode-15-of-season-1-in-steveston.html Later in the day Sherriff Emma Swan (played by Best Of TV Awards 2011 Multiple category finalist - Jennifer Morrison) showed up to shoot some scenes inside & later outside the "Storrybrooke Pet Shelter". The earlier scenes that were shot inside were not seen by the public, but later she did a scene where she would show up, walkin side hastily & and have a conversation with other actors. Josh Dallas & Ginnifer Goodwin were inside the store for the scene, but I dont know if Jennifer was talking to, or with them in the scene. Below is a few pics from Jennifer on that day... along with a couple pics of the set, and the Sheriffs car. So I headed out there, as Meghan was 1 of the few cast members on the show I have yet to get autographs from. When I got out there I found Mary Margaret Blanchard (played by Best Actress In an Action/drama finalist in our Best Of TV Awards 2011 polls, Ginnifer Goodwin) & Granny (played by Beverly Elliott) doing a scene right on the corner I was heading down. No sign of Ms. Ory at that time, but I took some shots of the scene between Goodwin & Elliott. After their scene wrapped, myself & another local hound went across the street to get autographs. he went for Ginny, while I went for someone I had not gotten before... Beverly Elliott. She was quite amazed I had a photo of her, asked where I got it. I asked if she had seen it before & she said "yes, but not blown up into a photo", she signed it & thanked me for being there. Later on I in the evening found Ginnifer back at the set. She walked over to an ice cream shop that I had earlier wondered if it was being used for a scene or just a product of clever advertising. It had in its window a riddle promoting "Red Riding Hood Ice Cream". I saw Ginny, Jared Gilmore & several of his school class mate cast members in there enjoying ice cream on what was a very cold day already. At first, I assumed they were shooting scenes in there...but later came to realize, nope, it was just an ice cream stop during a breaking in shooting. At that point Jared was told he was wrapped for the day, while Ginny hurried back to the set where she still had a scene to do with Jennifer Morrison & Josh Dallas, where she would be inside & out of sight. I never actually ran into Meghan Ory the day I was there. She wrapped her day scenes shortly before I got there...and was there fir night scenes shortly after I left. Had the weather not been so bitterly cold, I might have braved it for a bit longer that day. But at least I didnt go away shut out, as I got a few pics from scenes, and an autograph from a cast member I had yet to meet. Below is a few pics from the day & a couple of different props & set locations, including the Dr. Hoppers office door & Ruby's car.... which appears to be just fine after the fender bender it was in earlier in the season. Today I caught up with 1 of our Best Of TV Awards 2011 sexiest actor & Best Sci-fi actor finalists Jared Padalecki. The 6'4 actor who plays Sam Winchester (up for Favorite Character) on Supernatural (Best sci-fi show finalist) was returning from Los Angeles where he was for a couple days to take part in the TCA panels.
Supernatural is also the recent winners of 2 People's Choice Awards. 1 for Sci-fi program, and 1 for the highly coveted drama program. Recently it was stated publicly by multiple sources in the SPN family that Supernaturals stars were not invited to the PCAs, despite winning 1 of the most prestigous awards they give out. This sent massive irate ripples thru the fandom & that outrage was centered on the people who run the PCAs. At the time, I was outraged along with all of you. It seemed illogical to me. Then, today I ran into Jared. First thing I asked him was about the TCAs, which he did attend (Television Critics Association panels) just a day after the PCAs happened in the same city. He said it was just another day of work "flew down there, drove to it, did it, now flown back, and driving right to work" was his answer. I then asked him how he felt about not getting invited to the PCAs. This is where things went sideways. Confused & unsure what I was referring to he said "we were invited, we just couldnt go because of work". Which I responded "really? Because theres a lot fo heat on the PCAs on twitter because Clif said you werent invited" he again re-iterated they certainly were invited. I asked if he would say that on camera, he said sure. I attempted to get it on camera, and he said it a 3rd time...of course my SHITTY camera (you failed me again stupid Canon SX130) didnt do what I needed it to. The photographers there shooting Jared then grabbed his attention & asked him about Gen & flying. My chance to get it on record gone. Of course, after I was done, I posted a couple tweets about this, and then the shit hit the fan. A mixture of "ha, I knew it" tweets were mixed in with "wtf, you're lying" tweets, and a lot of "ok, Im confused because ... & ... said they werent invited" tweets flooded my @ messages. Here is my theory on what the situation COULD be...and why some confusion. We have all either ourselves been involved in, or witness someone ask the hypothetical question. Something like "Hey *insert name here* if I were to ask you out, what would you say"? You arent actually ASKING the question, just theoretically if the questionc ame up...how would you respond. It gives the questioner the chance to ask without fear of total rejection. If you answer yes, then great, they meant it. If you answer no, it was just a "no, I wasnt actually asking" situation. I suspect this might be where the confusion here comes from. The PCAs asked SPN "hey, if we invite you, are you coming?" & they said "sorry, cant, working" so the PCAs didnt send them a formal invite. Making them officially not invited, but, had they said yes, would have been invited. Of course, there is any variety of other explanations from 1 party being wrong, to the other party being wrong, to who knows what. Whatever the complete answer is... congratulations to Supernatural on your 2 People's Choice Awards wins...and the several finalists in our awards still being voted on right now. Anywho.. a few pics from his arrival. Would have had more...if I hadnt wasted the time trying to run video instead. The 2011 Best Of TV Awards 2011 voting has been under way for a week.
Unlike a certain high profile fan voted awards show (*cough People'c Choice Awards*Cough*), we leave you, the voters, with occasional updates on the leaders.... and will show the final vote totals when voting starts closing sometime after noon pacific (exact time tbd closer to closing) January 19th, 2012. Not ALL categories will close that day. Just ones where the winner has a substantial, seemingly unbeatable lead. ther categories will close later in the week, as time permits. Voting is taking place right now here http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/best-of-tv-awards-polls.html on all 20 categories if you have not voted yet. Below are the finalists, ranked in CURRENT ORDER. 1st place shows the current high vote total. Last place shows the current low vote total. Of course, unlike the opening nomination round, finals voting is limited to 1 vote per person... again, unlike some fans voted award that allows voting to be skewed by those capable of spending limitless hours voting & setting up automated voting systems. With OUR awards, voting relies on YOU the voter, encouraging your friends, family, messageboard allies to rally behind your candidates. One of our contestants wondered aloud on twitter, if there was any prize for winning. Now obviously, unlike said awards show, we dont have the budget to have a fancy event on national television. BUT, if any winners from said categories want to come to Vancouver, Canada on their own dime, I will happily present them with an award. Last year there was just under 100,000 votes on our awards, this year, we are already over 115,000 with still several days to go.
