A few pics of Harry Potter badboy Tom Felton in town filming "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes"7/14/2011 Last summer, several notable stars were in Vancouver filming a pre-quel to the popular "Planet Of The Apes" called "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes"
Many big names were here for it, such as Freida Pinto, Golden Globe winner James Franco & 5X Emmy & 2X Golden Globe winner John Lithgow. But the 1 most people in town were most excited for was not 1 of these highly decorated stars. It was a guy who is known around the world as a baddie in the Harry Potter series, Tom Felton. Not ever having watched the HP films, I knew nothing of Felton's popularity when he came into town. All I knew was, people kept saying "have you met Tom Felton"?. So, when I had the chance to get a few pics of him, I took it. Tom was actually personable, in the right situations. When he wasnt personable...was when actual fans were floating around. He even went as far as to tell the regulars "dont tell any fans where I am". Having dealt with another phenomenons fanbase "Twilight" in the past, I could understand Mr. Felton's preference to not have to engage with his most ardent fans. The type of fans who generally follow these type of franchises are a bit tough to deal with...so I was certain Tom had this request because of prior issues with the HP fanbase. In the end, I got him to sign a few photos & had a couple chances to photograph him while he was here. Despite his prerence to not be noticed when possible, he was still good with signing & taking photos when he was caught. You can find Tom on twitter @TomFelton

Zach Mills of recent thriller "Super 8" arrives in Vancouver to film a TV min-series "Clue"7/12/2011 The other day while waiting for other celebrities to arrive, I had a couple random luck run ins. One was with 1 of the youngsters from the recent hit thriller movie "Super 8", Zach Mills (Preston).
Mills is in town to film a TV mini-series called "Clue", based on the popular board game of the same name. Mills was happy to fill requests for photos with from those of us there who were waiting. You can find Zach on twitter at @TheZachMills Below a few pics of his arrival in Vancouver this week. I considered burying my review in the middle of the blog, just to make you all read the whole thing thoroughly to find it....but, here it is..... It didnt suck, but it wasnt awesome either.
I'm giving it a generous 5.5/10. Now remember, I have NEVER READ THE BOOKS!!! So dont gripe at me with "oh, they forgot this" or "the so & so scene was ruined because this pointless background detail wasnt there". I dont care. I graded it as a movie, and not as a comparison to a piece of literature. It is a movie, I graded it as a movie compared to other movies. I was pretty worried it was going to be gawdaful after hearing responses from people I knew. Of the 6 people I knew in person who saw it prior to me, only ONE gave it any type of positive review. The rest were trashing it hard. Sites like IMDB & Rottentomatoes were in agreement with this assessment of it as well, so I was truly expecting garbage. Maybe thats why it rated higher than 5, because I went in with such low expecations & it overshot them. To me the film has several good pieces which are wrapped around a pile of really dull, dragged out scenes. Some of the smaller characters are a bit too dorky for my liking. Just them saying even a couple words made me roll my eyes. The pudgy little school kid that has a crush on Bella might be the most annoying of the bunch. They shoulda scrapped him all together. I personally did not have the same problems with the acting of the big 3 that others have stated. They arent going to win the academy award, but its fine. I mean if Sean William Scott or Hugh Grant can continue to find employment doing the same character over & over again in movies that arent even connected to each other, than whats the problem with these 3 acting the same as they did in the first film? The supporting cast did a decent job IMO with the limited screen time they generally had. The Volturri looked good image wise, but Michael Sheen & Dakota Fanning were the only two that really made a positive impact on me. If Jamie Campbell Bower had more of a role, maybe he coulda done the same. The rest however... I found most of them too rigid & not smooth enough in delivery. The fight scene was too sped up to enjoy. They needed to slow it down a bit. I realize they are vampires & are really quick, but the audience is only seeing minimal glances of the action & its really frustrating IMO. It was certainly fascinating to see scenes in places I knew, or had been to. That might have given it an extra .2 or so just for the Vancouver element? But overall, it wasnt terrible. I wont go spend $12.50 to see it again, but I could see me watching it down the road again if someone rented it. Its certainly watchable. So that is essentially my review of the movie, spoiler free I hope. Of course Twilight Saga: New Moon is a film that was a big deal to me, as I hounded this film pretty intensely compared to the efforts I usually put in to celeb hounding. Here is a list of top 10 things I learned/appreciated/enjoyed about the New Moon phenomenon being here. - Jackson Rathbone. The man who plays Jasper turned out to not just be a wonderful surprise for interacting with, but perhaps the nicest celeb I have ever met. After 1 of the 100 Monkeys perfornaces here he talked in chilly spring weather for like 15 minutes about anything & everything. Awesome guy who even after that first encounter, kept up his good guy images all the way thru Eclipse even. - Sam Bradley show at Richards On Richards. It was my big payday of the event. It nabbed me my first ever celebrity photo run in a national magazine (sure, it was OK Magazine & I would later blast them for being idiots...but still, it was groundbreaking for me) I also learned to enjoy Sams music leading up to the show & the short amount of time I got to enjoy his performance. It also lead to a cool impromptu sing along by Sam on the street after the show that I thought was all too cool, which later lead to getting a couple Pattinson autographs. So all in all, a very productive night. - Spencer Bell discovering. One of the things Jackson Rathbone told us about that night was Spencer Bell & asked us to donate to his site (link is in my twilight autographs section). It took me awhile after misplacing it, but I finally found the site & have since then enjoyed quite a bit of Spencers music. Sad that there cant be anymore. - Meeting Rob after filming in New West. It was the only set hounding I did in New Moon & it nabbed me the nicest Rob autograph I obtained the whole shoot, and to top it off he did in despite his driver trying to deter him from signing for me. At 6 AM, after a long night of work, Rob came over to a fence & signed for the 5 or so fans who waited it out, while his co-stars left with little more than a wave from a distance. - How it revitalized my celebrity hounding. Because of New Moon, I started hounding celebs a fair bit more over that run, and it still lingers some now. I met a lot more stars in that few months it was here that I had probably met in the past 5 yrs (minus my time at Toronto Film Fest a couple yrs ago) because I just rarely bothered going out. - Twitter strategizing with others to prevent chaos during the Blue Water Cafe cast dinner. After the shenanigans of Punkd images & Lainey Gossip to try & ruin the casts party at the Blue Water Cafe, several of the regulars who were at the scene took action & banded together despite all having different interests in being there. The one thing we all knew was, if it wasnt stopped now, chaos was going to ensue. Within 10 mins of Laineys tweets, 2-4 people had shown up, but no one else did after that & for that, the credit mainly goes to the few fans & myself who worked on creating a smoke screen to assure no one else would try coming down & making it a mob scene. - All the new hotspots I never knew about before. I pass places like Chill Winston often & have occasionally passed Glowbal & Blue Water Cafe, but never really though of them as anything special. Since then I have learned just how often they really have housed notable celebs. - Celebs twitter updates. Before New Moon I barely knew of Twitter. Within a week of it, I had signed up for an account & was using it daily to keep up to date on where people were & more importantly, celebs who tweeted about their every detail. It was vital in giving me good, solid info more times than I probably confessed at the time. Fan updates were 1 thing, but celebs updates were 5Xs better. -The day Kristen Stewart told my friends & I "I dont care". Outside of the Loose Moose one night we chatted with her for a few mins. One of my friends apologized for being there, which Kristen responded that she didnt infact care, understood we have a job to do. She respectfully asked us not to do 1 or 2 things, so we didnt. But for the mostpart, she was understanding that we had a job to do & was fine with it. - The fans. Sure, there is a large portion who are batshit nuts. Odds are a few of you will even read this & say "well, he cant be talking to me". When I see a 40 yr old woman nearly in tears because she met Rachelle Lefevre or a girl probably no older than 12 telling Kellan Lutz she wants his body...well, yeah, THEY are nuts. But I also met quite a few cool, laid back people whow ere just fans & who just wanted to soak up a bit of the experience of them being here. Some of the regulars were the most normal people of the bunch. It amazed me every time someone told me they were from Brazil, Texas, Minnesota, Belgium or Japan. I was just like "wow, you spent your vacation time to come here in the HOPES of seeing one of the cast?". Now granted, I have considered the same thing for my favorite TV show...but I also can combine it with work to offset some of the costs, as well I have a fair bit more knowledge & experience in finding them than Joe fan. But I admired their commitment to an entertainment medium & most of the time, I found most of them to be normal. For all the frustration the New Moon filming here brought me at times, the entertainment, money & memories likely outweight those frustrations greatly. Thats it on New Moon I guess. Next up is Eclipse.....which as we all know, I have a less fond memory of. I usually dont post my personal blogs on here, I have kept this for mainly work related stuff.
But theres no debating this blog gets far more traffic than my personal one that only selected friends have access to. So this is the place to spread a message that is likely already been heard by most of you today since its a twitter trending topic. Three companies I detest are actually doing something quite good. So props to them. ebay & paypal, along with MillerCoors are going to donate 1 cent for every time any twitter post, facebook status update or blog uses #beatcancer . (excerpt from the website on the cause) "In a 24-hour period of time starting Friday, October 16th at 9 am (PDT) and lasting until Saturday, October 17th at 9am (PDT) people all over the internet stratosphere will be asked to send tweets and Facebook status updates and to blog using #BeatCancer in their posts. Ebay/Paypal and MillerCoors Brewing Company will donate a penny ($0.01)* for every Twitter message, Facebook update or blog post that includes the phrase #BeatCancer. All money will be donated to non-profit cancer organizations including SU2C (Stand Up to Cancer), Alex's Lemonade, Bright Pink, and Spirit Jump. All of the non-profits are 501 (c)(3) organizations and accredited by The American Cancer Society. A listing of all organizations and a live stream of postings can be found at www.beatcancereverywhere.com. " Of course many of you Twilght fans are familiar with Alex's Lemonade, the charity Peter Facinelli continually promotes by doing signings & tweets about them. For me, this actually matters. My grandmother, who was like a 2nd parent to me, as I came from a single parent family, was taken by cancer. She actually fought off breast cancer, and 1 bout of lung cancer before finally dying from lung cancer just over 4 yrs ago. I have had no less than 3 friends also fight battles with cancer in my time. So far, they have all managed to win their battles. But, like with my grandmother, it might not ever "be over". Its very likely that some of you reading this very blog will at some point be diagnosed with some form of cancer in your life. Think about THAT before you shrug off the idea of getting involved. From my experiences, most everyone I know has dealt with cancer in some immediate form. Whether its yourself, your family, your loved ones, a co-worker or a casual acquaintance. Nearly everyone knows someone that has dealt with this terrible disease. Todays camapign might not #beatcancer all together, but if it even makes a small dent in the fight against it, then the #beatcancer campaign, in my opinion, was a huge success. You can make a difference, and it wont even cost you a penny. All you have to do is take 20 seconds out of your day to post on twitter #beatcancer , or change your facebook status to include #beatcancer and you will have made a difference. You can get more information on the cause at http://beatcancereverywhere.com/ So go on make your own blog about this, change your facebook status update & start tweeting #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer #beatcancer So since the KStew fiasco I have been bombarded with hate & fan mail on here, twitter, imdb and even other sites I didnt know that fans had contact of me on.
The fans, I get. Clearly they understand what I say & actually follow logic. The haters. I clearly dont get. Not because they shouldnt hate me. Some of them have reasons to hate me because they dont like my profession or whatever. What I dont get is, how they misread things that are so blatantly obvious, think they can make me upset or mad by making all sorts of erroneous claims on twitter or here, the biggest though is they will lie for others...Namely a pap. Interesting. Hate me because of MY profession, but happily endorse a guy who has been arrested on multiple occasions for invading the privacy of celebs at work (unlike ME). Who employs a person that was recently caught urinating in a public park (unlike ME), and who is now infamously connected thru the actions of his GF calling Kristen Stewart a bitch. This is JUST the tip of the iceberg really. This is who you are willing to endorse & lie for? Wow. A certain locals blog was directed to me. In there, the user said (paraphrasing as to not steal word for word their inaccurate ramblings.) several things that are inaccurate & are without question, puppet like propaganda of the earlier discussed photog. She called me a moron. I guess if you are comparing me to a group of mensa members, perhaps I am? Compared to the general public, inaccurate. But thats a petty thing to argue over when you see the follow up insanity. -She claims I concocted the IDing of PUNKD Images photographers girlfriend was the one who made the claim. Incorrect. If you read my twitter from that night. "I know nothing of the KStew bitch comment fiasco. Just hearing about it thru twitter.12:56 AM Sep 8th from web " I was informed by multiple people who it was. MULTIPLE people IDed it as PIs photographers GF. NOT PIs boss, but his underling. It was 4 minutes later when I was told.... "@canadagraphs it was lil guys gf in the red-she shouted it then some fans told her off-then she threatened to punch them in the face lol1:00 AM Sep 8th from UberTwitter in reply to canadagraphs" NOT ME who tweeted it first. I just posted the info I was given. I took the original tweet IDing who it was & IDed PI as the company responsible for it, which they clearly were.. After the photog whose gf did it asked me to, I removed the tweet IDing the company. I did it....on the basis his boss quit talking about me on twitter...which he refused to do.... SO, I publicly stated it again. I was willing to NOT get into the politics of what they did & just play dumb. But the boss at PI opted to instead post to my request to drop all this... "Go Fuck yourself Moron.. RT @canadagraphs: took down the tweets and you said you would stop..9:43 AM Sep 8th from TweetDeck " Was his reply to a DM that was sent to him telling him I had talked with his pap, and we agreed I would remove the post IDing the company that did it, if he stopped tweeting about me. The pap told me he had his bosses word on it. So I took the tweet down. When he posted that, I decided the agreement was null. -In what is sure to cause more confusion & to avoid outing anyone by name... she clearly overheard a conversation she didnt clearly understand & moreso, mistook peoples roles in the convo & more importantly, outright mistook people in it. She claims I named two people as the people who called KStew a bitch... ironically, 1 of those people was the first one to tell me who did it, the second has the same name as the person responsible...but isnt the same person as the one she claims I said said it. She clearly only heard "names" & reference to the "bitch incident" & ran with it. Way to get your facts straight before publicly posting it. - She then claims we decided to change it from the two people to PI to fit our needs. What she heard, was obviously us verifying that the person responsible was infact the gf of the PI photographer....who as I stated has the same name as the 2nd girl. The ID of the girl was outed LONG before I ever tweeted it. Like I said, I just verified who she was associated with. To top it off, the photographer in question bragged about the comment on his twitter (locked profile) & openly explained to me via phone calls why it was done. He doesnt deny his gf did it. He actually seems proud of it. So, really she didnt get too much right outside the fact that two (I actually believe it was 3 of us) were out there talking about the event. All she did was used vague details to sell an agenda for another person. Whether she got paid to be a cheerleader or not is a different story. For her sake, hope she did...or she ruined her reputation for nothing. If she wrote that part in the blog JUST to find a reason to belittle me because she doesnt like me, thats even funnier. Again, putting your reputation on the line for petty reasons often backfires. My suggestion...in the future, on something where you are going to criticize someone publicly, KNOW your facts before you post them. Dont ever assume. its fine to assume some things. Size of a crowd, order of people you chit chatted with (long as its not relevant to a detail) & such. But a conversation you werent involved in, really...best to avoid it...or else risk looking foolish. ALSO.... The person who DID do it is also not the heavier set girl with the wine glasses that the lynch mob seems determined to hunt down....so really, quit it. The girl who did do it is considerably skinnier, wears glasses, had her hair tighter & was wearing RED...not white.....as anyone who was there can tell you. Will I need to blog about this again??? The stupidity around it is overwhelming. To the best of my knowledge, multiple people have outed the girl who DID do it. One even says the cast & staff are now aware. Nothing outside of me IDing the company responsible was my doing.... Whether PIs boss wants to believe it or not...or his puppet, is another story. I decided when Eclipse started I was going back to a private Twitter to protect info.
But I have fastly learned this film has more holes than the Titanic. So protecting info seems almost pointless, and in reality, I rarely post exact info. Everyone, their dog, their dogs fleas & their imaginary friends know what hotel they are all at. Everyone already knows who is in town, and when the rest are coming. Everyone already knows when they start filming. I posted a blog yesterday that I expected to have a 500-1000 hit day, instead it limped in at 200 hits. My assumption, since this was literally a hair more than the previous two days is, that without my public twitter acct, my blogs arent getting seen by new people. Just the same hundred or so who have it bookmarked and a few random newbies. So I am thinking on whether to go back to public in the morning. If you are on my twitter, you can give me your opinion THERE. Just @canadagraphs message me & let me know. Dont DM me on it...unless you think there is a valid reason, Sorry for this being pulled for awhile. I was unable to be around the computer, and someone asked me to remove it till something could be confirmed...and even though I was told shortly after it was fine to have it up, I didnt have a chance to get it re-posted till now.... |
