Sometime later this week, there will be some notable arrivals. The cast of "Twilight Saga: Eclipse" will come to town breifly for pre-production work.
Although on average they will only be here for a couple days each & will spend little to no time roaming the streets the very idea they will be here will have Tween-Twi-hards, Twi-mom-hards & Twi-nocerouses out in full force....oh, and a handful of moderately normal people (seriously, I actually met a few normal Twilight fans. They werent just a fig newton of my imagination.). They will undoubtedly call down there 34 friends each to sit around, pretend to be cool & fantasize about how they will woo Robert or Taylor by "just seeing him",only to then leave a puddle on the ground either from their tears while they shreik in high pitched joy or from other bodily fluids at the mere sight of someone who got to carry the dry cleaning of the guy who drives around the guy who made the cappucino for the casting director the morning he cast Bryce Dallas Howard. Seriously, there are creatures on this planet that get that worked up over something that trivial. I mean I didnt get that worked up till I MET the guy who made the cappucino. Have some standards people. Sheesh.
What this little teaser of talent is doing is really the equivellent of foreplay for these nuts. The cast will parade into town, be generally unseen & back out of town, get all these crazies worked into a froth, then leave for a week to 2 weeks & leave them lurking around the casts regular haunts expecting to see them & undoubtedly pestering the professionals for insight on where the best place is to find Taylor Lautner sunbathing or Robert Pattinson eating peanut butter cups.
Last movie the cast snuck into town with practically no fan fare & was able to go about pre-production & even the first week or two of production more or less unscathed by the crazies. This time, there may as well be a GPS system on each cast member, as the small clusters band together & plot their strategies via twitter or text messages. They WILL be a problem. I know it. I am sure the cast & crew know it. The crazy was starting to get to low levels of ridiculous late in the last shoot....this time theres the terrible misfortune of the fans knowing ahead of time they are coming, two different tour companies willing to chauffer you around to where they are, considerably warmer weather, vacation time & of course the free flowing knowledge that naive fans will post freely for others to see. The crazies will be armed with more than they really need.
I for one am NOT looking forward to this. Later this week, the peaceful existence we, the regulars have had the last few months will be shattered, trampled & violated in a horrifying parade of insanity.
For those of you who were lucky enough to meet someone here during New Moon & were thinking "hey, I'll go back & meet more of them". HAHA!!! Not to say it will be impossible, but it will be grossly harder. Your competition for the attention of anyone even remotely connected to the cast will be tenfold of what it was a few months ago. There will be more fans, there will be more autograph hounds & there will be more papparazzi. There will simply just be many many many more people around.
I realize no one will read my blog & decide "maybe I wont go, sounds pointless". That isnt the intention of it. I know well enough that advice is never taken in instances like this. But the blog will have 1 purpose at least. My ability to point to it at a later date & say "I told you so".
I occasionally argue with inanimate objects, but I usually win. So its all good.
