The other day I had the oppourtunity to see 3 or more cast members from the Twilight series. Plus of course 1 special 1, the author...who has had cameos in the first couple movies.
My day started with rushing out of the house to get to the airport for Dakota Fanning leaving. When I saw what time it was I didnt think I would have a chance, but still had to try. I took the new skytrain line from the downtown core to the airport, and have to say, it did a very good job of getting me there in a decent time. Unfortunately I got a text when I was about 6-8 mins away telling me she had gone thru a few mins earlier. So I missed her by 10-15 mins. Little did I know, this would be just the start of the bad luck day. I grabbed a bite to eat & got caught up on the new pap/hound gossip of Punkd firing yet his 2nd photog in less than a month. While sitting around chatting about that, I got a hasty phone call from one of my buddies simply telling me to get back over to the departures area asap. I ran over there (a few hundred feet) to see Stephenie Meyer, the Twilight saga series writer approaching the desk to check luggage in. I found out she signed a few autographs before getting in line, but also was warned that we might get told no by her assistant. I, along with a couple other autograph hounds, 2 or 3 fans & the croc hunter waited in the area where she would have to go by to get to the security gate. While waiting for her, I was of course confronted by the croc hunter who wanted to challenge me to a fight. Of course, since the guy makes a living from lawsuits I opted to decline. Some yammering back & forth was interrupted by Stephenie finally coming thru. Instantly we were told "no, she doesnt have time to sign, she has a plane to catch" by her assistant. I never brought up the fact that she had 45-50 mins to get thru the security gate & no line up ahead of her. Wish I had, would have been interesting to see them come up with a new excuse. Instead I walked with her & her assistant for about 2-3 mins to the gate, away from the gate, back to the gate, all the while telling us no. I video taped most of her denial, unfortunately my editing program is messed up & wont edit the vid...so I am having to put off posting the vid till I can edit out the shaky camera work & dead miments. But I did take a handful of stills from it. After Steph left there was a few hrs to kill. When we returned, we found out we had just missed Billy Burke arriving. That didnt affect me so much, since I had nothing for him with me. We waited for our last hope of the evening. Peter Facinelli was due to leave later in the evening. We sat around chatting with people who in theory, arent supposed to talk to us. People that work with Punkd. But with the king croc hunter not around, everyone was allowed to be ammicable. After sitting there for well over an hour it was decided he either wasnt getting on the flight, or managed to sneak by us (which is possible depending on what the driver does & what type of luggage he has). We went home with little success. Not an overall good day...but you wont win them all I guess.

Last night was the 40th birthday of David Slade. It was assumed there was going to be some large get together of the cast with David. Little did we know, David was hard at work on his birthday, while some fo the cast took the chance to have a dinner together.
I got downtown early evening all ready for who knows what, but I suspected it was going to be late. I started out at the Sheraton, but soon after chose to change locales to the residence. While there I found out several cast members left all together & that everyone at the residence had left to follow. It took awhile, but eventually the cat was out of the bag. A variety of cast were at Gotham Steakhouse. This is one of the more notable eateries in Vancouver. Celebs of all levels dine there, gangsters dine there, athletes dine there, politicians, you name it. So it was hardly some hidden little hole in the wall find. What was not known was exactly who all were in there. A variety of paps were there, several autograph hounds & a two fan/informants. All the regular paps, hounds & informants were in the mix. What was missing was Rob, Kristen & a few other notables. It was obvious they had opted to have another get together elsewhere away from the high profile big fancy look at me steakhouse dinner. That was where the less notable cast, Stephenie Meyer and Kellan Lutz went to dine. The majority of the main cast Rob, Kristen, Ashley, Nikki, Elizabeth, Jackson & Xavier, went elsewhere. At one point I decided to try a hunch & went on a wild goose chase to a few hot spots to see if the others could be found, but I came up empty & eventually came back to Gotham. When I got there I was informed that Kellan had just left a minute earlier & everyone had gone to chase. To top it off, one of the two people I thought would be there for any following that was required decided to book off for the night because of a girl. Which is all fine and good...MOST nights, but not one where you know there is potentially a big evening on the line. The other followed Kellan, but soon lost him & while they were gone, the rest of the party let out. First up was the Wolves. Chaske Spencer, Bronson Pelletier, Alex Meras & Kiowa Gordon all went into a cab together. Chaske & Bronson signing a couple autographs each on the way to the vehicle. I got 1 from Chaske, as I didnt need the others. After them, everything was a bit of a blur. I recall seeing Stephenie Meyer leave with a couple people, but I couldnt tell you if it was with cast or not. Daniel Cudmore I believe left on his own. I also believe Charlie Bewley left on his own. But I cant be certain in either case. Julia Jones & Bryce Dallas Howard I believe left together. Cameron Bright, his mom, Jodelle Ferland & someone I assume was her mom, I believe left together. I stopped Jodelle for an autograph. I am a huge Dead Like Me fan & she is a pretty notable guest spot in the pilot, so getting her to ME was cool. I coerced her to sign a second autograph. She seemed willing, but the lady with her (perhaps her mom) was not as eager for her to do it. I had a 3rd photo as well, but after how hard it was to convince her to sign the 2nd, I took what I got & let it go for another time. It took less than 5 minutes & the place was a ghost town & not one single person around to follow any of them. From there, my friend & I decided to focus our attention on a flight coming in that had Taylor Lautner. Giving up temporarily on the chase of the possible cast get together (at this time we didnt know DS was working still, we still thought there was a bday get together somewhere). When we got to the airport we found it out it was the worst kept secret of all time. Somewhere between 12 & 15 people were out there waiting for this flight. When it landed we looked around & my friend saw Taylor coming thru, and quickly realized he was not going to come thru the door we expected him to. So everyone scrambled back to the inside where we were drooling at the prospect of him taking the long way thru. We were fooled, he had been wisked away in some way that we still havent figured out, but he was taken from the arrivals level to the departures level. Most of the group made their way upstairs by escalator & elevator. As my elevator got up there I looked & saw no sign of him. Everyone thought they had been duped, and headed away. At the last second, I saw several hundred feet away, one of the locals from http://www.twilight-gossip.com speed walking away from us, a second later I saw someone getting an autograph waaaaaay down the terminal. I beelined down there, sure enough it was Taylor Lautner & his dad with an escort guard and another autograph hound getting him to sign. I got over there & the guard told me to get back or I would be arrested. I backed off, and was ready to make my move maybe 75-100 feet down where there was a break, as they were hiding behind check in counters. But I didnt have to make a move, they came out towards us. I asked again, and his dad asked politely "what colour pen do you have" I said blue, he looked on disapprovingly, so I said I had a black too, which he took, handed to Taylor & he proceeded to sign for me, another hound, then another for me, before being hurried to his towncar. One pap got a few shots of him, but for the mostpart, the large crowd downstairs didnt even get a sniff of him. In toll I think only 4 or 5 people got anything out of him, autographs, pics or anything. After he was gone there was a pretty unfriendly verbal altercation between the female guard who was escorting them to the car & a pap. I wasnt at the hotel when Taylor showed up, but the report is that the driver of the car & perhaps Taylors dad got out & lambasted those that were there for the incident at the airport, as she had apparently phoned the driver to tell him what went on. By the time I got back downtown (BTW- the new skytrain is fast once it gets going, but I waited like 10-15 mins for it to show up, then leave.) it was clear Rob was out somewhere & those that knew were not interested in sharing with the others. So after an hour or so of taking random stabs in the dark to see if we could find anything I called it a night and came home. Not a total disaster, but not as great of an evening as projected. Final total for the night 2 Taylor Lautners, 2 Jodelle Ferland, 1 Chaske Spencer & a few pics. Below are the pics of Jodelle, Daniel Cudmore & Charlie Bewley (with Cameron Bright over his shoulder) from the dinner. FIRST- BE WARNED!!! I have a massive head cold, and a mild headache...so excuse me if I get some details out of order, or forget something you thought was notable etc etc.
Its not everyday the poorest postal code in Canada gets a notable celebrity playing a show it the area. Last night was that rare exception. Of course 100 Monkeys were at the Rickshaw Theatre last night & played to a fairly packed show. Funny side story. I pass this theatre almost daily & till I heard Jackson Rathbone & his bandmates Ben Graupner, Jerad Anderson & Ben Johnson would be playing there I mistook it for a usually abandoned building. I have seen it open maybe 5 times ever & It doesnt even have a name displayed anywhere. I was more suprised when I got inside & saw not only was it a 2 level theatre style venue with seats, but that it had a standing & seating room of around a 1,000...but I'm getting ahead of myself here. I showed up around 6 PM & waited at the back for Jackson to arrive. Shortly after being there I heard a soundcheck & was aware the band was, at least, partially there already. Some of the band members came out & left to go get food. No Jackson though. About an hr or so later they returned & saw 2 fans & myself back there. When they arrived Ben (I believe Graupner) chatted breifly with us, remembered both the pair of fans & myself from their previous tour of the Vancouver area. The couple asked if he could get them tickets, and he happily obliged. He then asked me if I wanted to go, I said, I'll certainly go. A few minutes later the manager (without his trademark Banana suit...currently looking for a new banana suit as the old one was deemed no good anymore :( ) came out with 3 tickets & it was official, I was going to the show. I had about 45 mins to an hr to kill, so I went home (a whole 4 blocks away) & dumped some stuff off & recharged my phone some. When I got back I saw the same couple still in the alley. They said Jackson hadnt arrived yet. So I waited with them. It was much darker now than when I left and rats were in abundance in the alleyways...and I'm not talking about L.A. Rats or the local rats. Eventually sometime in the first bands set a security guy came & said Jackson was already in. This would later be verified by a fan who went inside & said she saw him in the upstairs room that was sort of a "backstage" area for them...despite being infront of the stage up 2 levels. I headed inside after getting the disappointing news. The show had 2 opening bands. Neither I heard (well, actually I heard part of the middle band, but I was focussed at that time on other things...which it turns out was foolish.) By the time the 100 Monkeys were set to take the stage I was already sweaty. It was ridiculously hot in the theatre & everyone was at the very least a bit sweaty. At this time its probably a good time to point out, of all the Twilight based events I have gone to, tonights crowd had the highest percentage of hot women I have seen at one yet. There was still some stereotypical Twinocerouses lurking about, but for the mostpart, the most aesthetically enjoyable crowd I have seen at one of these Twilight hotspot events. I have to say, I never actually noticed what time the 100 Monkeys got on stage, but it turned into probably an hr to hr & 1/2 set. The band all took turns playing different instruments, Jackson played guitar, bass, drums & keyboards at different times. The other bandmates did as well. In typical Monkeys fashion, they did an improvised song...about Acorns tonight. They kept a good pace & were certainly giving a strong effort. They did a song right before their encore thanking all their fans for being there, which was kind of cool. Of course they squeezed in talking about Spencer Bell at the show & told everyone there if they didnt know who he was, to google him. I knew about this already as they told me last time that they would like me to make a donation for Jackson signing all our stuff to the http://www.spencerbellmemorial.ning.com website. I actually promised I would at the time & so far have failed to step up, last night was a good reminder. If I dont talk about cast members at the show I am sure I will hear it from some random fan....so here it is. Nikki Reed & her bf Paris Latsis were seen in the overlooking private box at the side of the stage. Elizabeth Reaser was there as well. The one that blew me away & unfortunately I didnt know till after the show. Stephanie Meyer was also there. Nikki & Elizabeth left only a few songs into the set. I didnt notice when Stephanie left, since I was unaware she was even there. When the show ended I instantly headed for outside. 1- to find Jackson & the band. 2- to get fresh cool air. It was sweltering in there. Outside 30 or so fans waited around the back, while 10-20 waited out front. Band equipment was making its way out for ever. It was then that I learned Stephanie Meyer was in there....I then noticed later, she was in some of my pics. If I had only known sooner. Eventually band members from 100 Monkeys started to leave & then I saw the flashes go off...it was Jackson. He spent little to no time leaving & was hurried into a minivan, and quickly wisked away. Jackson didnt interact with fans, which is VERY rare. I was shocked. A good show. I took lots of pics & videos. Vids will be uploaded in a little while. Sorry for this being pulled for awhile. I was unable to be around the computer, and someone asked me to remove it till something could be confirmed...and even though I was told shortly after it was fine to have it up, I didnt have a chance to get it re-posted till now.... |
