Plus, PROPERLY credit the source(s). As October got under way, so did the annual DC TV universe crossover event that they have done for the past few seasons. This year, only 3 of their 4 shows are taking part, with Legends Of Tomorrow taking a pass on this one. Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up for the event. Here is a quick scene they shot at B.C. Place (you may know it as usually the home of S.T.A.R. Labs exterior scenes) We have, Grant Gustin as The Flash, Stephen Amell as the Green Arrow, Melissa Benoist as Supergirl, Tyler Hoechlin dressed as what I believe to be Superman Prime, as well as a stand in dressed in a classic Superman outfit. In the scene, it appears Prime is trying to cause havoc by holding Barry Allen hostage outside of a building featuring the Superman logo. Eventually Oliver confronts him with a bow & arrow drawn, and Prime lets Barry go, before clapping his hands together, causing a massive boom behind the logo, then, he steals the mystery book that you have surely seen by now in the promo photos and trailers. You will have to watch it by Unofficial means, because the morons at The CW have given Netflix the rights to air The Flash the next day (it literally does NOT air live ANYWHERE in Canada), while giving Arrow to the Space network, and giving Supergirl to the Showcase network. The former network that carried them, CTV, now has none of them for some reason. So uhhh, I guess good luck with watching it

This year, only 3 of their 4 shows are taking part, with Legends Of Tomorrow taking a pass on this one. Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up for the event. Today, I caught up on the Supergirl part of filming. The scenes they were shooting were at a place very familiar to the Arrowverse fans.... its the exterior location for S.T.A.R. Labs on The Flash.... but today, it didnt have the usual STAR Labs items around it. Instead, it had a big Superman/Supergirl logo in front. Todays scene saw Melissa Benoist as Supergirl, along with Tyler Hoechlin and his stunt double as Superman and an alternate Superman, Grant Gustin as The Flash, and Stephen Amell as Green Arrow shooting a scene where the alternate Superman seems to take The Flash as a hostage temporarily while Superman is reading from a book that seems to have all the symbols in it we previously had seen featured in episodes of The Flash. I'll try to add more of an update on the scene later... but cliff notes version. Black Superman takes Barry hostage briefly, then when Oliver moves in on him with his bow drawn, Barry tells Oliver not to attack, then Black Superman lets Barry go.... then claps his hands together, a huge boom goes off that creates an explosion behind that glass Superman emblem... he then goes, steals the book from the other Superman, and flies away. Here are more photos from todays shoot. There will be some more added later this week. So check back later for more. This year, only 3 of their 4 shows are taking part, with Legends Of Tomorrow taking a pass on this one. Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up for the event. On this particular day, they filmed several scenes in downtown Vancouver for the "Supergirl" part of the crossover. Funny enough, with no main Supergirl cast, and only 1 of the 4 scenes shot even had a Supergirl guest star in it. Tyler Hoechlin was seen on set as Superman, and as Stephen Amell showed in a tweet yesterday, Superman has some new threads for this crossover event. Lucky Stephen was willing to share with you all, because when Tyler was down on ground level (they were filming on top of a parkade) he was more modest about showing off his new duds. Covering up the Man Of Steel outfit as much as he could. I managed a few photos that JUST catches the top of the logo before he covered up even more. There were two other scenes shot during the day that I didn't get any photos of the cast at. One in Oceanic Plaza, which is used by EVERYONE at some point, they had a scene where a group of spectators were watching something happen in the sky, but no actors were there for it. Then after the roof top scene, was a scene in an alley where they were using a drone to film... something? Whatever it was, it wasn't actors, I can tell you that much. A bit later I caught up with Stephen and Grant Gustin filming at a different location. While I had seen both of them at the roof top location, it was only for brief moments as they wanted to & from the set from their trailers. Grant once, noticed me there taking photos, and waved, then showed off his new attire, trying to put on a bad boy sneer with it. Of course, since I wasn't given prior warning to his plans, I both missed the wave, and him flaunting the wardrobe off to me, as I had started shooting too late to catch the wave, and ended too soon to catch the showing off in its entirety. At the other location Stephen, as Oliver Queen. Grant as Barry Allen, both shot a scene where the pair stormed down a street together, running into an apartment building before getting into an altercation inside the building. The pair were both dressed like boyband members pretending to be hoodlums. They had jackets on that said "Trigger Twins" on them. All I could think when I heard the term was how often triggered is used on the internet, and wondered, are Barry & Oliver internet vigilantes? But in all seriousness, the pair shot this series of scenes there, before they took a break. When they went on their break, I left, because I really didn't think anything more special would be happening. Sometimes I get this wrong... this was 1 of those rare occurrences. Barely after I got home & took my shoes off, I got a DM from a twitter user that was there @themyscirabound telling me Stephen showed back up, in full GREEN ARROW wardrobe. I asked Themyscirabound if she felt like sending me a couple photos to put in this post, and she agreed, so if you use any of the photos of Stephen in the Green Arrow attire below, credit HER. THIS BLOG POST IS FOR SUPERGIRL SEASON 3 EPISODE 1 "GIRL OF STEEL" AND MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE EPISODE. If you have not seen the episode, and do not want to see or read possible spoilers about it prior to seeing it, do not continue reading the article or viewing the photos below. . . . last warning . . The cast & crew shot scenes for the season 3 premiere in a courtyard sandwiched in between the building of the busiest public transit spot in Vancouver, and the former building of Vancouvers two major newspapers. While I dont really know much of what went on in the earlier scene, it included a massive Supergirl banner stating "Girl Of Steel" on it, and had Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor on the stage. Vancouver fans of the show came out in force, as there was crowds of 50+ at the set all day long, and at a couple points about 100 fans were out. Later in the day, scenes were shot with Floriana Lima as Maggie Sawyer and Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, along with David Harewood as Hank Henshaw and Melissa Benoist as Supergirl. All I could really make out from the latter shoot, was that something was attacking the Supergirl day event, and Melissa and David were right in the middle of taking it on. Throughout the day, the 4 cast who arent Melissa, all came over and gave their time to meet fans & take photos and sign autographs. While the lead of the show hastily speed walked away from awaiting fans arriving and departing the set. Unfortunately, this is the standard for her at the set. Luckily for the show, the rest of the cast does their best to accommodate for their fan unfriendly star. Supergirl returns to The CW on October 9, 2017 You can see my previous Supergirl Behind The Scenes blog posts HERE You can see the Supergirl autograph gallery HERE The cast & crew of Supergirl shot scenes at Robson Square over two nights with a few of the shows bigger stars & guest stars. On the first night, they shot a couple scenes involving the shows lead Melissa Benoist, with the shows most notable recurring guest star Tyler Hoechlin as the Man Of Steel, Superman. Also on set was new addition to the cast Mark Gibbons as General Zod. I posted a youtube video of Melissa shooting a scene with Tyler earlier. But here are some of the photos from that same night as well, including some from other scenes. The night started off with a stunt where the crew blew up a Police car. A little later they had Melissa come on as Supergirl and do a scene where she jumps off the car. When she first got up on the car, she noticed the couple dozen fans standing on a higher level balcony over the set & waved at all of them before getting back to work. A bit later, Zod did a scene where he angrily looks off towards something. I never quite got the idea what he was exactly looking at, but his intense, intimidating look, and voice which is just as intense & and intimidating clearly showed Zod wasnt messing around. They then moved to doing a scene of the stairs where Supergirl is ducking and trying to fight off being attacked/hit with something while Superman watches on behind her. The last scene of the evening was the coolest. It had Supergirl do a stunt where she was laying on a National City sign and being flung across the courtyard while Superman followed behind. Considering what I saw the next night with the full on fight between these two, cant hel but think Superman is the one who sent her flying (ps- I havent seen the episode..... so obviously all of YOU know if thats true or not already since its aired now). Throughout the night, even as it started to cool off, Melissa seemed to be in a really good mood. Perhaps my favorite moment of the night, and 1 many of the crew laughed at too, was when a costume person went over to Melissa to move her cap to the side to show off more of her leg and Melissa made a comment about it which I didnt quite hear, but it was clear it had something to do with the additional skin being showed off for the scene, and Tyler replied to her "well, it is the CW", and everyone laughed. If you have not seen this episode and do not want to see or read any potential spoilers to the episode, do not continue reading this post or viewing the photos attached. . . . last warning . . For the third time (I'll try to squeeze in the blog on the 2nd time...but this one seemed more vital to get up first) since the Supergirl production started shooting season 2 in Vancouver I managed to see Tyler Hoechlin on set as the Man Of Steel, Superman. What was different this time however was.... I also caught Melissa Benoist on set shooting for the first time. While I have managed to see Melissa in Supergirl garb once at the 1st location last week, and met her recently elsewhere in town, I had not yet seen her actually shooting for the show that she is the lead character in. The production for Supergirl closed down the Georgia Viaduct (you may recognize it from Deadpool, The X-Files or Arrow, among dozens of other productions) for a night shoot where Melissa, Tyler and a guest star Frederick Schmidt playing the part of Metallo, along with their stunt doubles did a variety of stunts/scenes on the viaduct. Stunt co-ordinator Simon Burnett (formerly Stephen Amell's stunt double on Arrow) carefully plotted out the action sequences to the stunt team that includes Atlin Mitchell (taking over as Melissas stunt double this season, formerly various characters on Arrow, along with many other roles on other shows) & the actors during breaks while the crew worked to set up the next scene. When I first showed up, they were already under way with Superman & Supergirl standing by while the stunt Metallo stood on a ledge of the viaduct with safety wires attached. The scene eventually progressed a bit more from that with scenes of Superman being thrown backwards and a 1 on 1 battle with Supergirl and Metallo where she punches him, before he reacts with a backhand slap that sends her reeling. A bit later, they moved to doing a solo series of scenes with Melissa and her stunt double first climbing off a car, then doing a scene where Supergirl pushes the car along the street (with several crew on the opposite side of the car helping push it along) as it starts to explode, then just a shot of Supergirl in the crouched position on the car slowly rising to her feet, standing tall on top of the car.
After a few takes of that, I decided to go home. It was a late shoot & while I might have seen something more awesome had I stuck around, I felt what I got was worth the time I put in already. Supergirl will be on The CW this season, starting in October. You can see all my Supergirl set blog posts HERE Also follow me on twitter for updates when I find Supergirl out on location. THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS POSSIBLE SPOILERS TO EPISODE 201 OF "SUPERGIRL". If you have not seen this episode and do not want to read or see any possible material from the episode, do not continue reading the article, or viewing the photos. . . . last warning . . The recently re-assigned to The CW network DC Comics hit Supergirl filmed scenes for their season 2 premiere in downtown Vancouver yesterday. Before I get started on the details..... as I do with all new fan bases that come to this site. A quick run down on photo/article using etiquette. To the right of this article you should see my "Photo Permissions" section. You can use photos posted here.... long as you follow these rules. IGNORANCE is not a defense for not following them. If you dont follow them, I will absolutely take the appropriate actions against you, regardless how "naive", "stupid", "young" or " bad your English is". These arent excuses. you will learn there are several regular set photographers in Vancouver, including 4 paparazzi, 3 set bloggers (including myself) and a handful of smaller "fan bloggers". Each & every one of us has different standards for how we expect you to credit/use/pay for the materials. I STRONGLY suggest you LEARN each of their preferences before you ever post ANYONES materials, and DO NOT assume just because 1 person is ok with a specific standard that everyone is the same. you will find some far far far less tolerant than myself about using photos posted, you will also find a couple more tolerant I am sure. If you are not sure of the users expectations ASK BEFORE YOU POST. I consider myself kind of lenient, and I sent out just under 150 DMCA takedown notices last year between twitter, tumblr, facebook, youtube & pinterest. So be aware of each users preferences, they vary greatly & if you annoy the wrong one, you might end up with a LOT more financial/legal trouble than just a DMCA notice. Lastly, NO ONE, including me thinks its acceptable for you to post EVERY photo from a set, even with proper credits/sources posted. An acceptable number is 1-5 to most people. More than that, and most people feel you arent giving viewers any incentive to check out the originating source material. Okay....with that out of the way..... Welcome Supergirl fans to my 1st blog post on the show. The day started with a scene that consisted of no actors as a stunt scene was done with falling debris that was buring and a Cop car skidding to a stop before crashing into the debris. Once they wrapped this scene, they moved a couple hundred feet down the street to the main course of the day for fans to take in. The day focused almost entirely on the shows newest, and most hyped about addition to the second seasons cast, Tyler Hoechlin who will take on the role of the iconic Superman character for a guest/recurring role. The first scene that Tyler was on set for saw the new Man Of Steel come to the rescue of a family by sheltering them with his body & his cape, before quickly taking off right after. Part of the scene, as I heard the director explaining it to extras/cast was Superman destroying a drone with his heat vision & this was played out a bit later as a crew member had to stand up on a ladder and toss flaming broken drone debris to the ground. After those scenes, they did a very quick rehearsal in an alley near there for a later scene, then broke for lunch. After the lunch break, I managed to run into the shows lead, Melissa Benoist, as she showed up for a very short scene she did inside the Canada Post building. This was the only sighting of her anyone in the public had of her all day. She was gone shortly after. Upon returning from the lunch break the crew outside had moved to the front of the Canada Post building. There, a scene with Mehcad Brooks (aka - James Olson) and Tyler (aka - Clark Kent) took place. The pair casually walked down the street chatting as a mugger behind them stole a purse from a woman and attempted to take off with it before a well timed elbow from Clark lays the would be thief out on the pavement and allows the woman to retrieve her purse. The pair dont even break stride & just continue on their walk. After that scene, the pair came over to the crowd of 15-20 fans & stopped to take photos & sign a few autographs. There I happened to get my 1st Tyler Hoechlin autograph on my freshly printed Superman photo that I had just taken myself a couple hours earlier. To the best of my knowledge, this is the 1st Superman photo he could have signed, since the promo only came out the day before & no one I know of had got it done yet. After that scene, they moved back to the street they used before the lunch break to film what seemed like the same scene as the 1 they just did, just from a different "angle". A little while later the crew moved to the alley they did the quick rehearsal in earlier in the day.
There they filmed a scene with just Tyler. There we find Clark Kent running down an alley ripping open his shirt & exposing his Superman outfit underneath. After that scene, they moved back to the Canada Post building where they filmed a couple more scenes, 1 of Clark standing in front of a Daily Planet newspaper kiosk, and another where Clark is walking along a walk way seemingly stopping to phone someone before continuing on with his walk. After the scenes wrapped, the few fans still around managed to get Tyler to stop quickly for an autograph & a couple photos with. My first impression of the crew for the show. A mixed bag. There were some very knowledgeable, and friendly crew who understood this is Canada & you cant tell people they cant do things on public property. However, there was some, I'm assuming they were shipped in from the U.S., because I have never encountered so many of them on a set, who were under the impression they CAN tell people what to do on public property, and did so repeatedly. These people will probably either fall in line sooner or later, or will find themselves unemployed. The crew members who were GOOD, were quite good. Quite professional. But they had more than their fair share of over steppers. Supergirl will have their season 2 Premiere on The CW this year (moving from CBS) on October 10, 2016 |
