THIS BLOG POST IS FOR SUPERGIRL SEASON 6 EPISODE 14, AND IT MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE EPISODE. If you have not seen the episode, and do not want to see or read possible spoilers about it prior to seeing it, do not continue reading the article or viewing the photos below. . . . last warning . . PLEASE NOTE - Photo limits are in place for website use/social media posts. AS OF JANUARY 1, 2021 there is new photo usage limits. So please check the link for the new updated totals. PLEASE MAKE YOURSELF FAMILIAR WITH THE NEW GUIDELINES POSTED HERE I will not be responsible for your ignorance. If I file a takedown notice on you, it really is on you for not educating yourself. If you are confused on how many you can post, ASK FIRST, and I will let you know. I caught up with Supergirl filming episode 6x14, directed by the former Green Arrow (no not that one, the one that did the ACTUAL big fight scenes), and current Supergirl stunt co-ordinator, Simon Burnett. On these 2 days, the cast & crew were downtown, first day at B.C. Place and then 2 days later they were filming a scene at CRAB Park. At the first set, the set dressing signs suggested there was a MMA event going on at "Burnett Arena" (aka the directors name)... but it definitely seems something odd was going on at this event. Out front they had a bunch of people brawling (I missed that scene except for 1 take which I didnt shoot because I was busy looking to try & figure out where the actors were). You can see some of the damage in the pics below. There were some newspaper boxes that I got some photos later, and on 1 of them (Daily Planet of course) the by line for the article sais "Lois Lane". Later, they moved down a couple level of stairs around the side of the stadium. This time they had Azie Tesfai in her Guardian outfit, with Chyler Leigh in her Sentinel outfit. Again, an all out brawl was going on with bats, tire irons & anything else. Sentinel & Guardian were busy taking down people, while the rest were busy were attacking each other. After Chyler and Azie finished their work, gave the fans waiting on the overpass watching a wave, Azie even came over and spoke to 1 of her biggest fans for a moment. On the street underneath, they had a bus bench set up with more set dressing, and a news paper box that features a headline about the destruction of the Ormfell Building (if you dont know about that.... its actually from the 6x12 shoot I did HERE). Two days later, the crew moved to a couple other parts of the downtown core. I missed their 1st two locations, as I was working a different show at the time. But in the late afternoon, I found them at their last shoot in an area known as CRAB Park on the north shore of the Gastown/downtown eastside area. At this location we had Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor on set with Staz Nair as William Dey. They were doing a scene on the beach where William is standing there with his notepad, while Lena opens a book, reads it, then apparently talks to someone on an ear piece, then pours something into the fire, and the pair watch something fly out of it. Also, I am sure some are looking at my new watermarks, and are not impressed. You can really blame the 0.1% of the fans of particular actors who choose to re-post them without the watermarks, so, I spend a couple seconds extra per post to make it slightly more inconvenient on them..... just a reminder again, if you remove my watermarks from photos, and post them, I WILL report them on whatever social media platform you are on. Lastly, I have more photos from this set that are actually better than most of these. Including some from a 2nd photographer who has a much much better camera than me. In the next day or so, I'll make a post about if anyone wants to BUY them, they will be available for that (depending on photographers agreement, may be for re-use...aka, you can re-post them, or, it might only be for private use.). I will post that update in here, and on twitter too once I know more. Video will come later in May on my YOUTUBE CHANNEL. So check in there for those later on. Some of the videos will be on the Patreon page for video tier members THIS WEEK, and more coming for a while (I have a few to work through). THIS BLOG CONTAINS POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 202 OF "SUPERGIRL". If you have not seen this episode and do not want to see or read any possible spoilers prior to seeing it, do not continue reading or viewing the photos below. . . . last warning . . CORRECTION NOTICE - After seeing the scene, I have edited the part on who was on set. I incorrectly assumed it was for Frederick Schmidt's character, but now know it was Rich Ting... wasnt aware there was 2 Metallo's at the time of writing this. Supergirl filmed more scenes early on this season with Tyler Hoechlin as Superman. This time I found the Men (Hoechlin and the stunt double) portraying the Man Of Steel on set with the stunt team shooting scenes with stunt people for the Martian Manhunter (never saw David Harewood there) and Metallo (Don Lew portraying the part played by Rich Ting who was also there). Scenes seemed to surround Superman and Metallo in a fight. While I was there, I never saw why Martian Manhunter was there. The battle seemed to be taking lace in Krypton Park in Metropolis, and NOT in National City where the show is generally taking place. Supergirl is now on The CW for season 2 Monday nights. You can see our other behind the scenes shots of Supergirl filming other scenes HERE. THIS POST MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 202 OF "SUPERGIRL". If you have not seen this episode and do not want to see or read any potential spoilers to the episode, do not continue reading this post or viewing the photos attached. . . . last warning . . For the third time (I'll try to squeeze in the blog on the 2nd time...but this one seemed more vital to get up first) since the Supergirl production started shooting season 2 in Vancouver I managed to see Tyler Hoechlin on set as the Man Of Steel, Superman. What was different this time however was.... I also caught Melissa Benoist on set shooting for the first time. While I have managed to see Melissa in Supergirl garb once at the 1st location last week, and met her recently elsewhere in town, I had not yet seen her actually shooting for the show that she is the lead character in. The production for Supergirl closed down the Georgia Viaduct (you may recognize it from Deadpool, The X-Files or Arrow, among dozens of other productions) for a night shoot where Melissa, Tyler and a guest star Frederick Schmidt playing the part of Metallo, along with their stunt doubles did a variety of stunts/scenes on the viaduct. Stunt co-ordinator Simon Burnett (formerly Stephen Amell's stunt double on Arrow) carefully plotted out the action sequences to the stunt team that includes Atlin Mitchell (taking over as Melissas stunt double this season, formerly various characters on Arrow, along with many other roles on other shows) & the actors during breaks while the crew worked to set up the next scene. When I first showed up, they were already under way with Superman & Supergirl standing by while the stunt Metallo stood on a ledge of the viaduct with safety wires attached. The scene eventually progressed a bit more from that with scenes of Superman being thrown backwards and a 1 on 1 battle with Supergirl and Metallo where she punches him, before he reacts with a backhand slap that sends her reeling. A bit later, they moved to doing a solo series of scenes with Melissa and her stunt double first climbing off a car, then doing a scene where Supergirl pushes the car along the street (with several crew on the opposite side of the car helping push it along) as it starts to explode, then just a shot of Supergirl in the crouched position on the car slowly rising to her feet, standing tall on top of the car.
After a few takes of that, I decided to go home. It was a late shoot & while I might have seen something more awesome had I stuck around, I felt what I got was worth the time I put in already. Supergirl will be on The CW this season, starting in October. You can see all my Supergirl set blog posts HERE Also follow me on twitter for updates when I find Supergirl out on location. |
