Supergirl shoots a scene for episode 401 with Melissa Benoist and Mehcad Brooks - PICS AND VIDEO8/29/2018 THIS BLOG POST IS FOR SUPERGIRL SEASON 4 EPISODE 1 AND MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE EPISODE. Too many people in the last season & a bit have got comfortable with just posting ALL the photos & thus eliminating traffic from coming here. If you want these updates to continue this season, this has to STOP. I will be aggressively reporting those who opt to ignore this info from here on out for DMCA notices, or more. Earlier this month, the cast & crew shot scenes for season 4 episode 1 at the Vancouver Art Gallery (just across the street in fact from where they shot some of the season 3 finale). As I stated in my earlier blog post here, I had more photos and another video (along with the 3 posted HERE ) from a different scene shot on that day. This scene had Melissa Benoist dressed as her non Supergirl character Kara Danvers. She was joined by Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen. The pair were shooting a scene where they were at a press conference for ... someone? It is believed that it was supposed to be for President Olivia Marsdin (played by former Wonder Woman actress Lynda Carder), but all they had was a different woman dressed similar to her up on the stage all day. Perhaps they will shoot a different angle of it in studio when Lynda can be there? But it seemed off that Kara and other reporters were asking this random person questions while she stood at a POTUS stand. Kara comes running up from a news truck, hands James a bottle of vodka, and proceeds to ask questions to the person there. Not much else happened in the scene, there was no superhero moments. They eventually wrapped that scene, and had Melissa leave for a wardrobe change for the scene that was from that last blog post linked above. Enjoy the photos below, and the video below that. REMINDER - DO NOT take this video, and re-post it in whole or in part on other social media platforms. It is on here FOR FREE. Supergirl was shooting scenes for season 4 premiere in downtown Vancouver earlier this month. In the scenes below you see Melissa Benoist as Supergirl, this was her first public shoot as the Girl Of Steel since returning from Broadway. She was joined by Jesse Rath as Brainiac 5. As promised in this blog post ... here some video from this days shoot. Here is another video from the shoot with Supergirl & Brainiac 5, as he watches her fly off into the sky. Last but not least, 1 more take from the day. In this one, you see Melissa make a mistake, and break out laughing, but Jesse tries to work through it, and follows through completing the scene. I still have photos, and another video to post from this days shoot form an earlier scene where Melissa was dressed as Kara on set with Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen. I will try to get those up soon, as I will be leaving town for a couple weeks and by the time I return... it will almost be season premiere time. If you have not seen the episode, and do not want to see or read possible spoilers about it prior to seeing it, do not continue reading the article or viewing the photos below. . . . last warning . . The 2017 Arrowverse crossover episodes, all titled "Crisis On Earth X" have been filming through most of October in Vancouver, and last week I caught up with the Supergirl crew shooting part of their segment of the 4 episode event. On this day, they shot a variety of scenes. In the morning they shot a scene on a roof with a Earth X character named "Overgirl" that I missed due to their scheduling and other commitments I had. When I got there in the early afternoon they were prepping to shoot a scene out in front of the the St. Andrews Wesley Church. The scene sees Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers and Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers having a chat when Legends Of Tomorrow star Caity Lotz as Sara Lance arrives, says a few words to Alex, before going into the church, leaving Kara to tease & grill Alex about the clear flirtatious conversation the pair seemingly had. Its been strongly rumoured the 2 characters may be hooking up in the episode after the very publicly posted departure of Floriana Lima as Maggie Sawyer leaves Alex's love life with a vacancy, much to the growing fanbase of fans who like Maggie & Alex together. After they shot this scene, all 3 actresses wrapped their day there, and left, making way for the production to prepare for their final scenes of the day, on the other side of the church that didnt even have any Supergirl cast in it, as The Flash and Arrow stars were on hand for the shoot, Many of you may already have seen the youtube video I posted of their rehearsal of this scene where Melissa goes a bit off script near the end. Back in August, I found the Supergirl set shooting some scenes in a park in the Coal Harbour area of downtown Vancouver. On set that day when I got there was Katie McGrath, Odette Annable and Mehcad Brooks. The trio were shooting a scene at a stage area set up to look like a press conference. Behind the stage was a large LCorp sign, and scattered throughout the crowd of extras were signs demanding justice/vengeance against LCorp. Directed by Arrowverse regular director, famed comic book legend, and actor Kevin Smith, the scene saw Katie as Lena Luthor step up to the podium with Mehcad as James Olsen and Odette as Reign beside her. Lena then gave a speech where she tells the crowd that she sees their signs, and is going to step down as the head of LCorp, but before the crowd has even a moment to revel in the statement, gun shots ring out and James dives to push Lena to safety, while Reign moves off in the other direction. A bit later we see another scene being shot. This time, Supergirl herself..... errr I mean mild mannered reporter Kara Danvers, is on set. Melissa Benoist joined the trio for the later scenes.
In the later scenes, we see Kara standing up in the middle of the crowd while everyone goes fleeing for safety. Meanwhile up on the stage, we find out that James got shot in the arm. they also filmed a quick scene of a girl in a hoodie being apprehended (I'm assuming the shooter?) in the middle of the crowd. During breaks in the latter half of the shooting day, the cast were preoccupied with meeting with a couple little girls from the Make A Wish foundation. While I decided it was not the best time to photograph cast, some of the other photographers there did. I couldnt resist though, a shot of them snapping the clapper board with Melissa during one take. The cast were nothing short of exceptional in how much patience & time they took with the kids. While everyone that goes to sets would expect nothing less from the other 3, I think most of us were all at the least a little surprised to see the usually impossible to get an interaction with Melissa spending so much time with them. It was nice to see her being nice to someone at the set for a change. The girls also got to call rolling once, and got to hang out with Melissa to watch while the others did a scene Melissa wasnt in at that point. Throughout the day, director Kevin Smith went around to crew, and at least twice to the fans watching and handed out Tim Hortons Timbits (for those not from Canada, basically, donut holes). The cast & crew shot scenes for the season 3 in a couple spots in the area around the Vancouver Train Station/Greyhound Bus station in August. In the daytime, they shot a scene in the park across the street from the station with Floriana Lima and Carlos Bernard. Lime of course as Maggie Sawyer, while Bernard was playing the part of her father on the show. The first scene they shot was 1 where Maggie gives her father an old photo, before she walks away on him, leaving him to ponder what she gave/said to him. Later in the day they moved across the street to shoot a scene where the paid were having a bit of a heated debate. The jist of it was Maggie telling him how things have been for her since he left, and he essentially replied with a tone of, its been hard for everyone. In an odd moment, Bernards character makes reference to the Donald Trump claim that he is going to build a wall. Whether the Supergirl world President Olivia Marsdin has the same ideas we dont know yet. Perhaps the writers didnt think that through when they made the very political statement in their script.... or perhaps, they have found a way of making it relevant to the shows storylines? We will have to wait & see. Later that night, they moved around the corner from there to shoot a scene at a warehouse with Melissa Benoist and David Harewood doing a couple quick scenes, including one where the pair are sitting in a car together, and drive out of a garage. For whatever reason Supergirl is wearing a scarf in the scene. Why they are going for a drive, who knows? But the last shot they did of the night seemed to be one of the viewpoint of the car, looking off into the distance in the sky.... so perhaps they see something up there.... or the car can fly. In either case, it was a scene there wasnt much luck seeing as they had it mostly covered up by the building on 1 side, and the fenced off lot on the other side..... so the few photos you see below really is all I saw of it that night. Supergirl returns to The CW on October 9, 2017 To see more Supergirl Behind The Scene shots, you can see my blog posts HERE T see more Supergirl Autographed photos, you can see my gallery HERE The cast & crew of Supergirl shot scenes at Robson Square over two nights with a few of the shows bigger stars & guest stars. On the first night, they shot a couple scenes involving the shows lead Melissa Benoist, with the shows most notable recurring guest star Tyler Hoechlin as the Man Of Steel, Superman. Also on set was new addition to the cast Mark Gibbons as General Zod. I posted a youtube video of Melissa shooting a scene with Tyler earlier. But here are some of the photos from that same night as well, including some from other scenes. The night started off with a stunt where the crew blew up a Police car. A little later they had Melissa come on as Supergirl and do a scene where she jumps off the car. When she first got up on the car, she noticed the couple dozen fans standing on a higher level balcony over the set & waved at all of them before getting back to work. A bit later, Zod did a scene where he angrily looks off towards something. I never quite got the idea what he was exactly looking at, but his intense, intimidating look, and voice which is just as intense & and intimidating clearly showed Zod wasnt messing around. They then moved to doing a scene of the stairs where Supergirl is ducking and trying to fight off being attacked/hit with something while Superman watches on behind her. The last scene of the evening was the coolest. It had Supergirl do a stunt where she was laying on a National City sign and being flung across the courtyard while Superman followed behind. Considering what I saw the next night with the full on fight between these two, cant hel but think Superman is the one who sent her flying (ps- I havent seen the episode..... so obviously all of YOU know if thats true or not already since its aired now). Throughout the night, even as it started to cool off, Melissa seemed to be in a really good mood. Perhaps my favorite moment of the night, and 1 many of the crew laughed at too, was when a costume person went over to Melissa to move her cap to the side to show off more of her leg and Melissa made a comment about it which I didnt quite hear, but it was clear it had something to do with the additional skin being showed off for the scene, and Tyler replied to her "well, it is the CW", and everyone laughed. If you have not seen this episode & want to avoid any possible spoilers from it, please do not continue reading the article or viewing the images below. . . . last warning . . The cast & crew of The CW superhero show Supergirl were back at work this past week after their holiday break. They had 3 days of shoots in the downtown core, starting with a Wednesday shoot inside the Orpheum Theatre. On Thursday they moved to a popular filming spot at the foot of Hornby Street on Pender. Its recently been used for the 1st episode of The X-Files revival series, part of the intro for The Flash, and episodes of Fringe & many others. But is probably best known as the place in Dead Like Me where the star of the show is killed by a falling toilet seat in the pilot episode. The crew, and more importantly the cast, including the shows star Melissa Benoist braved the low single digit celsius temperatures to shoot a scene for the episode. Along with Melissa was guest star Peter Gadiot as Mr. Mxyzptlk. I was fortunate enough to see Mr. Gadiot arrive in town for the role, so I knew ahead of time he was in the episode...but didnt say anything about it at the set to others until someone else noticed. To be honest, I am a bit shocked anyone knew what character he was, since he doesnt look anything like how the character historically has looked. The scene sees the hero show up to foil an attempted bank robbery, but while she is seemingly taking shots off her chest from invisible gunfire, Mr. Mxyzptlk arrives seemingly out of nowhere, and Kara looks at him bewildered, before he snaps his fingers & something happens that causes Kara to run towards where the bank robbers were. A little later, they shot a scene where Kara elbows 1 of the crooks and KOs him. Eventually, they moved indoors to film more scenes with other cast also in attendance for those scenes, including Chyler Leigh, Floriana Lima and Jeremy Jordan. This location was of course crowded by fans, lookie loos, and a few paps, as this was also the 1st time since Melissas divorce from her former co-star Blake Jenner was announced over the holidays. I am pleased to say, Melissa seemed in really good spirits. She was often smiling, often laughing and considering how cold it was out, and how she was dressed, didnt seem terribly annoyed by the substantial attention on set that day. After 1 take, Peter & Melissa broke out into an improvised dance even.
