THIS BLOG POST IS FOR "ARROW" SEASON 7 EPISODE 22 titled "You Have Saved This City". Yesterday I caught Arrow waaayyyyy up in North Vancouver on a rare out of the downtown location for me to check out. With the sad announcement recently that Arrow is ending next season, and the all too rare chances to see Arrow on location in the past couple years since they have built up their studio sets so much. I felt I should take the chance and check it out. This location is one that will have a lot of the fandoms most vocal minority screeching in excitement and horror.....because they were at the house that we saw in the flash forward scene back during Star City 2040 episode where Felicity Smoak gives birth to Mia Smoak. While I was there, there was no filming that was visible to the public. It was all either in the house, or contained in the back part of the houses yard. I DO know though that Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smaok, and LaMonica Garrett as The Monitor were on set, and PROBABLY (speculation only, I dont know it to be a fact) all filmed together based on how long they all were in there for. Shortly before I left, they were setting up things in the back yard, including a target practice board. I added a couple photos of that as well. Also added 1 photo with no zoom on so you could get an idea of what exactly I had to shoot through for any of you whining about the quality. My camera LOVES focusing on pointless tree branches. On instagram, Emily stated this was her last day filming on the show. After 7 seasons, Emily is leaving the show to seemingly try her hand at theatre, as she takes a role in an Off Broadway production of Reborning (which I saw here last summer, and she was actually really good in it, and it was a pretty good play.... if you have the chance in New York, I'd recommend seeing it if you are into dark comedies). Why The Monitor was at the couples hideaway? Let the speculation begin. Oh also.... what about that episode title? The 7th season is still filming, and will wrap later this week. Since I had no other post to really put them in, I added a couple photos I got at the season 7 wrap party last week with Katherine McNamara (Mia Smoak) and Sea Shimooka (Emiko Queen), as a bonus. Arrow begins their season 7 stretch run with a return on Monday, at a new time (9 PM Eastern/Pacific, 8 PM Central) on The CW, after a few weeks off. THIS BLOG POST IS FOR "ARROW" SEASON 7 EPISODE 20 AND MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE SEASON. If you have not seen the episode, and do not want to see or read possible spoilers about it prior to seeing it, do not continue reading the article or viewing the photos below. . . . last warning . . A reminder... DO NOT attempt to post the video to your own social media accounts or website WITHOUT using this blog posts link directly, or the original youtube link. Re-uploading it ANYWHERE and not simply linking to the original post will have it removed, and depending on the platform, could have your account suspended or terminated. The cast & crew of Arrow was shooting scenes for episode 720 last month in East Vancouver at a church. As most of you already know from the photo set I posted back when it was shot HERE there was several cast there, including a returning cast member that we had only seen this year so far in flash forward scenes. Of course, all the current day heroes were on set. Stephen Amell as Green Arrow, David Ramsey as Spartan, Rick Gonzalez as Wild Dog, and Juliana Harkavy as Black Canary were on set. Joining them was Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak..... but ALSO with the team was Colton Haynes as Arsenal. This is 1 quick clip of the gang going into the "Star City Metro subway system" and them coming back out. First time this season (assuming he doesn't show up prior) that we will see Roy Harper in modern day scenes, let alone dressed up as Arsenal. Of course, at the time of the set, fans of Felicity were thrilled to see her out & about, because they were happy to see the writers weren't going have her be "house ridden" on screen because of her characters pregnancy. But now.... looks like this might be one of the last hurrahs for her character out in the field. Arrow season 8 will be the final season. Arrow season 7 returns from their hiatus on April 15th, 2019 on The CW in the U.S. (I'd link to their page on the site, as I used to... but it is LITERALLY pointless now, because they just put up a big black screen saying you cant watch unless your American. Morons made that decision, literal, morons.) With the sad announcement recently that Arrow is ending next season, and the all too rare chances to see Arrow on location in the past couple years since they have built up their studio sets so much. I felt I should take the chance and check it out. Below are photos & video (video will be up at a later date) of the scene being shot. There was not a lot going on in the scenes I saw. The first scene MIGHT have included cast, but if they were there, they were so deeply tucked in to the area the camera was aiming that you could not see them. It mostly seemed to consist of Star City Emergency personnel handling some type of situation at the Star City Metro (after the 100s of times our skytrain has gone by in the background of their scenes, they finally acknowledge they have their own service) as onlookers and media waited to see what happened. A bit later, they did a scene where The Vigilante Task Force, also known as Team Arrow shows up and goes inside the Metro building. Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, David Ramsey as John Diggle/ Spartan, Juliana Harkavy as Dinah Drake/ Black Canary and Rick Gonzalez as Rene Ramirez/ Wild Dog were all there in their full costumes. As well Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak was along with the gang on this adventure. But at you surely noticed in the intro photo above, there was ONE MORE costumed hero.... Colton Haynes, as Roy Harper/ Arsenal was with the team. Everyone has been waiting for his return to the present day scenes, and now we have confirmation he will be back eventually in present day. The question now is..... where is Thea? Also, snagged a couple quick pics for the Olicity fans out there of Stephen and Emily talking between scenes. There might be a few more photos later, as well, a video to post. But for now, here is your 1st look at Colton Hayes as Arsenal back on Arrow set. THIS BLOG POST IS FOR "ARROW" SEASON EPISODE 409 "Elseworlds" AND MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE EPISODE.
If you have not seen the episode, and do not want to see or read possible spoilers about it prior to seeing it, do not continue reading the article or viewing the photos below. . . . last warning . . A little different reminder than I usually post. ALL OF THE PHOTOS IN THIS POST are not my property. If you plan to re-post them, you should credit the sources I list below. As October got under way, so did the annual DC TV universe crossover event that they have done for the past few seasons. This year, only 3 of their 4 shows are taking part, with Legends Of Tomorrow taking a pass on this one. Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up for the event. This past week, they filmed several scenes in Vancou... errrr... I mean CHICAGO???? for the "Arrow" part. You are not hallucinating. The producers for Arrow were eager to get that original Gotham look that has become ingrained in our memory from the Dark Knight era. Christopher Nolan filmed Batman Begins and The Dark Knight movies there, and Arrow wanted to capture that feeling for their portion of the cross over. The episode is being directed by Arrows original stunt coordinator, and frequent director of their episodes now, James Bamford. As seen in the photos below, there wasnt a lot to be reported. We know that Stephen Amell, Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist were definitely on set, as they were seen there by photographer Rob Olewinski at cmraseye.com in the photos below. They also got a couple cool photos of the inside of the set as well. But at this time, no other cast were reported there, either thru the fan photos, or behind the scene shots from cast. A lot of people feel new Batwoman Ruby Rose would be there since the scenes are in Gotham, but at this time, there has been no confirmation she was there. Not to be outdone, a couple photos from fans showed some of the exterior of the set & a meeting with Grant on the set. First we see a photo with Grant Gustin meeting with twitter user @wtvrashley on the set.
Next is a set of photos from twitter user @xavportela. The most interesting photo, is the mystery actor standing under the GCPD sign.
Could this be a background person? Or a new cast member added for this cross over we haven't heard of yet?
Lastly, a few photos from some twitter user called @StephenAmell ??
Of course many fans have jumped to the most conclusions for the photo he posted with former Arrow star Colin Donnell. While it is not unheard of for Tommy Merlyn to make surprise cameos on Arrow over the years, I suspect based on his attire, he was just there visiting his old cast mate Stephen. Colin is on a show called Chicago Med now, and as you can guess by the title, it films in Chicago.... so this wasn't too out of his way to come by and say hi. Of course.... perhaps this photo IS of a returning Tommy... or some alternate Tommy. Guess we will all have to wait and see on that one. The other photos feature Melissa & Grant just sitting around waiting to work at the set one night. While the last one shows Stephen lurking over Grants shoulder on the set.
Of course, as I stated earlier above these twitter posts, another user got several photos from the set... but only seemed to get a couple with actors in them as he said he was encouraged to leave shortly after. But he probably had the best shots of any non-crew person.
You can see a few of them in the gallery below. You can also find his whole set on his flickr page. Also credit to @Filming_Chicago for all the work there keeping people updated on filming. I found all of the links to these photos through their work posting them. You can find a few other set photos from the Arrow shoot there if you dig through their feed. I just didn't have the time to link to every post I could find. You will have to watch it by Unofficial means, because the morons at The CW have given Netflix the rights to air The Flash the next day (it literally does NOT air live ANYWHERE in Canada), while giving Arrow to the Showcase network, and giving Supergirl to the Space network. The former network that carried them, CTV, now has none of them for some reason. So uhhh, I guess good luck with watching it. A reminder... if you are going to post photos from this on your social media/website INCLUDE THE LINK TO THE POST with it...and don't use all of them. A maximum of FOUR (4) photos please. Plus, PROPERLY credit the source(s). As October got under way, so did the annual DC TV universe crossover event that they have done for the past few seasons. This year, only 3 of their 4 shows are taking part, with Legends Of Tomorrow taking a pass on this one. Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up for the event. On this particular day, they filmed several scenes in downtown Vancouver for the "Arrow" part of the crossover. I didn't see any of the early day filming as I just plain slept in. But I eventually got up, went down, got an autograph for someone who asked me to get something done for them them other night, from Arrow star Stephen Amell as he headed to his trailer for lunch break. I quite literally spent 3 whole seconds there to get that done.... and with that, I felt like "mission accomplished" and left fully aware they weren't going to be there after lunch. Little did I know, all they were doing was moving 2 or 3 blocks away. While I was at home, I saw a tweet from Stephen showing him on set with Grant Gustin, Melissa Benoist AND The Flash recurring guest star & the 1990s Flash, John Wesley Shipp. So I raced back out of the house to go find them. When I got to set, I was shocked at the effort they were going thru to try and cover things up. They even were trying to cover STEPHEN in the Flash suit up... I mean hey, we've already seen him in a promo photo, his own tweets, and 2 days of set photos from The Flash shooting, but sure, yeah, work hard to cover that "spoiler". As the day went on, I saw them also trying to cover up (thank you twitter user @marysocontrary2 for telling me who it was, as I had him down as "unknown actor when I first published this) Lamonica Garrett who was cast as The Monitor. He was wearing large golden boots, and was wearing a costume of some type. The crew were so put out that I got some photos of him, they had a cop come and talk to me, at length for awhile in hopes of trying to get rid of me. After some early tension between us, we eventually got to chatting for quite a while. I get he had a job to do and had to investigate the claim from the crew, and in the end, he understood I had something I was trying to do as well. When the shoot ended, Melissa left first, with her security guard and crew member escorting her away past everyone. Shortly after Grant came by, and took photo with the fans there still in his Arrow make up & some of the costume. Then came Stephen. The other night I had asked Stephen if I could get a photo with him in the costume since I already have Grant in The Flash costume, and he said sure.... so today he honoured his promise, and despite having the suit 1/2 off already, re-suited up to take a photo with me, then did so for a couple other fans. John Wesley Shipp then was leaving, and he too after some uncertainty of how to do it (his mask was pulled down in front of his face covering half of it), took photos with fans in his Flash uniform as well.... which for the record looks SO velvety (if that's a word) in person. After that, I left as it was clear they were finishing for the evening.
