So Take note this scene COULD be for episode 809. UPDATED TITLE - This scene WAS IN FACT for 809 Yesterday I caught Arrow filming in a place fans are somewhat familiar with. Arrow had a rare location shoot for their 10th, and final episode of season 8. THEIR FINAL SEASON. This shoot was in Crab Park in Vancouver. Of course, this was more than just any ordinary shoot too. This would officially be the LAST day of filming for the 8th, and final season of the show that would launch an entire universe, known as the Arrowverse, and essentially help launch the superhero genre of shows that now populate so many parts of the TV & streaming world. On this night, I first found the crew back where they were just two nights earlier. In the far corner of Crab Park, a place they had been at other times throughout the past. For this night, they were doing scenes where the recently unveiled Oliver Queen statue is in Star City. As opposed to that nights shoot, there was little to no cast here on this evenings shoot. The only cast i am 100% certain of is Katherine McNamara was there as Mia Smoak shooting scenes. It SEEMS a guy is with her in the scene. It COULD be Ben Lewis as William Clayton, but in the photos I have of the scene, and my vision make me unsure of that. During the evening, I also saw a woman with darker hair, and a dark jacket on set. I am unsure if it is a character, or simply a stand in for Mia. I watched her do enough takes that I felt like they actually were filming scenes of this woman however. But I could not come up with a clear identity if it was. Later they seemed to shoot a scene where Mia & the man stand near the statue, and are looking in its general direction. A bit later, they shot a scene where just Mia seemed to be in the scene, and she walks toward the statue at a hurried pace. Shortly after that, a round of applause went out as crews often do when a cast member wraps. It was the end of the night for Katherine (and if any other cast were there, them too). I made an eager effort to go and try to get near the statue to get a pic of it before they took it down, but they were fast. They had the actual statue removed in mere seconds, and if there was any plates on the bottom piece, they too seemed to be removed by the time I made it in there just a few moments later. As crew were leaving the location I got 1 final autograph ever from someone on an Arrow set, as Katherine McNamara signed for me as she left for the final time. EVERYTHING BELOW HERE IS FOR EPISODE 10. DO NOT CONTINUE IF YOU ARE HERE JUST TO SEE EPISODE 9 PHOTOS, AND DO NOT WANT TO SEE EPISODE 10 PHOTOS OR READ ABOUT IT. After the crew wrapped the statue location, they moved out to the street. This was the scenes I was expecting when I went down there that night. But I got a bit more than I expected. I went there thinking I would see a car leaving or coming into Star City past the "entering/leaving Star City" signs they have used in this location many times. I joked with someone the other day that for a city as large as Star City, they do seem to only have 1 way in & out, as they always use the same road. They first did a scene with a motorbike being ridden by a darker haired woman. It was not an actor, it was a stunt team driver. But her hair would have been done to depict whoever it was supposed to be. So it sort of limits the choices down to very few. At first i thought maybe Dinah Drake? But then after talking with someone, they suggested maybe Thea Queen? In either case, since there was no scene with an actual actor, and the stunt person never had the helmet off in the shoot, its hard to know certainly who it is. After that scene was shot, they did one with a Tesla driving up & down the street a couple times. I didnt know when I was shooting it, and only noticed when I got home & saw it on my computer screen. But if you look closely, the license plate looks futuristic..... so is this a scene for "future Star City"? They did a few takes of this car driving up & down the street, before director James Bamford, and the cast & crew of Arrow officially, WRAPPED (sorry Marc Guggenheim that no one told you when it actually was wrapping). There was 1 constant throughout the two scenes that I guess I sort of didnt really point out, and it is frankly why I titled this whole blog as "major spoiler". They drive by a street sign. That sign reads "Oliver Queen Memorial Drive". Unlike the statue, the signed stayed up for about 5 minutes after they wrapped, so I was able to gee a couple photos of it, before a crew member went across the street, pulled it down and started disassembling it.... and just like that, there was evidence they had even filmed a scene with that sign there. When I have a bit of time, I will work on a wrap up blog post about the entire filming of the show from my first encounter with them during episode 2 of season 1, to this very final night of filming. I also have another set of photos from this episode from 2 nights earlier at the same location for a different scene HERE Arrow season 8 will conclude in January on The CW in the U.S. If you want to see Crisis On Infinite Earths shooting, I have a blog sections specifically for that event HERE For other behind the scene blog posts of Arrow go HERE For Arrow autographs gallery go HERE

Yesterday I caught Arrow filming in a place fans are unfortunately familiar with. Arrow had a rare location shoot for their 7th episode of season 8 in Central Park in Burnaby. This is of course the same park infamously known for the Laurel funeral scene that really became the contentious turning point for the show. Of course this time, there was no funeral going on.... so you can breathe a bit easier Laurel fans. They were filming a few hundred feet down from there quite literally in a little encampment area they had made between some trees. The set was tight, and well covered by equipment and trees, so there was no on set reports to be had. The only absolute details I do know is, three cast were seen going in & out of the set. Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen was there, he didnt seem to be in Green Arrow attire of any type, just regular Oliver clothes. Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance or Black Canary was there. While I never saw her wearing a mask, and she kept covered up when coming out to get in a transportation vehicle, the fact she was keeping her wardrobe well under wraps made me wonder if she was in BC attire. No coincidence once they realized I was there, they made her walk an extra long path to get to set to avoid coming thru the parking lot that was most convenient to drop off at. With so few promo images out of it so far, its hard to get a read on if that could be in hidden under her winter jacket. Lastly, a returning old face, Byron Mann was there. Last we saw him as Yao Fei, he was dead.... so is this a flashback through The Monitor, or, a different timeline/Earth? Sadly, nothing more to report on the set at this time. Weather was terrible, so I wasnt too motivated to be my usual curious self and search around to see if I could see/find out more. Arrow season 8 will premiere in October on The CW in the U.S. For other behind the scene blog posts of Arrow go HERE For Arrow autographs gallery go HERE THIS BLOG POST IS FOR "ARROW" SEASON 8 EPISODE 1 titled "Starling City". Yesterday I caught Arrow filming in a new studio that is literally known as "The Fortress". I hd been there a couple times in the past, but was unaware of why shows were using it so much,as I assumed it was just some business building that they were using for a day. But instead, it is 1 of the new crop of little 1 off studios across the Lower Mainland that has popped up in the past few years. This former bank has the structural integrity to withstand some of the film industries more tougher stunts to pull off, as I was told yesterday while there, they have even crashed a helicopter into the roof of it. On this day, the Arrow cast and crew were using it for scenes for their 1st episode of their last season. Obviously because of the fact everything was shot inside this structure, nothing about the specific scenes is known. But some things are known about who was there. Through out the morning & early afternoon, and late evening (I left for a few hours after lunch break) a variety of cast were seen by myself. Stephen Amell was walking to & from the set in half of his Green Arrow costume, and stopped to meet fans several times throughout the day. I also saw Rick Gonzalez at lunch, and briefly got to meet Katherime McNamara for my first time at a set. But the "I wasnt expecting to see you so soon" moment of the day came as former Arrow star, turned Chicago Med star, now back for quick drop in on Arrow, Colin Donnell. An article had come out just a couple hours before seeing him saying he would be back, and lo & behold there he was. But Tommy Merlyn looked a little different than the one we used to know, sporting a full beard. Oh that reminds me, 1 other thing I saw that I can not quite put my finger on what it means yet is... during lunch 2 stunt men in Green Arrow attire came out, 1 looking like how Oliver did, the other, had a big fake black beard on. make of that what you want. I have theories, but I wont post theories here. We also saw a blond girl go in at one point that seemed to be wearing a mask. The person that was there with me when they went in thought it could be Katie Cassidy, and I was unable to confirm if it was her or not, but you can try to judge for yourself by the pics I added below. That said, I did hear two people for the cast referenced by crew while I was there. Katie Cassidy being one, the other was "Josh" who could be Josh Segarra, as he was also announced as returning in the same article as Colin was mentioned in. When I returned later. Some fans were now there, and they pieced together to us what they had seen while we were gone. The only actors they had seen while we were gone were Stephen again, aaaaaaand John Barrowman? Now I was not there to confirm if what they say tey saw is a fact, but the fan I was talking to was well versed in his Arrowverse knowledge, so I feel confident he was not mistaken. Could the returns for Colin, Josh and others be Crisis On Infinite Earths related? I guess we will have to wait and see. At the end of the evening, we saw 3 cast leave as Andrea Sixtos, Joseph David Jones and Katherine McNamara all left together, and shortly behind them we saw the director of the episode, James Bamford also leave. Yesterday I caught Arrow waaayyyyy up in North Vancouver on a rare out of the downtown location for me to check out. With the sad announcement recently that Arrow is ending next season, and the all too rare chances to see Arrow on location in the past couple years since they have built up their studio sets so much. I felt I should take the chance and check it out. This location is one that will have a lot of the fandoms most vocal minority screeching in excitement and horror.....because they were at the house that we saw in the flash forward scene back during Star City 2040 episode where Felicity Smoak gives birth to Mia Smoak. While I was there, there was no filming that was visible to the public. It was all either in the house, or contained in the back part of the houses yard. I DO know though that Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smaok, and LaMonica Garrett as The Monitor were on set, and PROBABLY (speculation only, I dont know it to be a fact) all filmed together based on how long they all were in there for. Shortly before I left, they were setting up things in the back yard, including a target practice board. I added a couple photos of that as well. Also added 1 photo with no zoom on so you could get an idea of what exactly I had to shoot through for any of you whining about the quality. My camera LOVES focusing on pointless tree branches. On instagram, Emily stated this was her last day filming on the show. After 7 seasons, Emily is leaving the show to seemingly try her hand at theatre, as she takes a role in an Off Broadway production of Reborning (which I saw here last summer, and she was actually really good in it, and it was a pretty good play.... if you have the chance in New York, I'd recommend seeing it if you are into dark comedies). Why The Monitor was at the couples hideaway? Let the speculation begin. Oh also.... what about that episode title? The 7th season is still filming, and will wrap later this week. Since I had no other post to really put them in, I added a couple photos I got at the season 7 wrap party last week with Katherine McNamara (Mia Smoak) and Sea Shimooka (Emiko Queen), as a bonus. Arrow begins their season 7 stretch run with a return on Monday, at a new time (9 PM Eastern/Pacific, 8 PM Central) on The CW, after a few weeks off. The cast & crew of Arrow was shooting scenes for episode 720 last month in East Vancouver at a church. As most of you already know from the photo set I posted back when it was shot HERE there was several cast there, including a returning cast member that we had only seen this year so far in flash forward scenes. Of course, all the current day heroes were on set. Stephen Amell as Green Arrow, David Ramsey as Spartan, Rick Gonzalez as Wild Dog, and Juliana Harkavy as Black Canary were on set. Joining them was Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak..... but ALSO with the team was Colton Haynes as Arsenal. This is 1 quick clip of the gang going into the "Star City Metro subway system" and them coming back out. First time this season (assuming he doesn't show up prior) that we will see Roy Harper in modern day scenes, let alone dressed up as Arsenal. Of course, at the time of the set, fans of Felicity were thrilled to see her out & about, because they were happy to see the writers weren't going have her be "house ridden" on screen because of her characters pregnancy. But now.... looks like this might be one of the last hurrahs for her character out in the field. Arrow season 8 will be the final season. Arrow season 7 returns from their hiatus on April 15th, 2019 on The CW in the U.S. (I'd link to their page on the site, as I used to... but it is LITERALLY pointless now, because they just put up a big black screen saying you cant watch unless your American. Morons made that decision, literal, morons.) I felt I should take the chance and check it out. Below are photos & video (video will be up at a later date) of the scene being shot. There was not a lot going on in the scenes I saw. The first scene MIGHT have included cast, but if they were there, they were so deeply tucked in to the area the camera was aiming that you could not see them. It mostly seemed to consist of Star City Emergency personnel handling some type of situation at the Star City Metro (after the 100s of times our skytrain has gone by in the background of their scenes, they finally acknowledge they have their own service) as onlookers and media waited to see what happened. A bit later, they did a scene where The Vigilante Task Force, also known as Team Arrow shows up and goes inside the Metro building. Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, David Ramsey as John Diggle/ Spartan, Juliana Harkavy as Dinah Drake/ Black Canary and Rick Gonzalez as Rene Ramirez/ Wild Dog were all there in their full costumes. As well Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak was along with the gang on this adventure. But at you surely noticed in the intro photo above, there was ONE MORE costumed hero.... Colton Haynes, as Roy Harper/ Arsenal was with the team. Everyone has been waiting for his return to the present day scenes, and now we have confirmation he will be back eventually in present day. The question now is..... where is Thea? Also, snagged a couple quick pics for the Olicity fans out there of Stephen and Emily talking between scenes. There might be a few more photos later, as well, a video to post. But for now, here is your 1st look at Colton Hayes as Arsenal back on Arrow set. Plus, PROPERLY credit the source(s). As October got under way, so did the annual DC TV universe crossover event that they have done for the past few seasons. This year, only 3 of their 4 shows are taking part, with Legends Of Tomorrow taking a pass on this one. Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up for the event. On this particular day, they filmed several scenes in downtown Vancouver for the "Supergirl" part of the crossover. Funny enough, with no main Supergirl cast, and only 1 of the 4 scenes shot even had a Supergirl guest star in it. Tyler Hoechlin was seen on set, and as Stephen Amell showed in a tweet yesterday, Superman has some new threads for this crossover event. Lucky Stephen was willing to share with you all, because when Tyler was down on ground level (they were filming on top of a parkade) he was more modest about showing off his new duds. Covering up the Man Of Steel outfit as much as he could.I managed a few photos that JUST catches the top of the logo before he covered up even more. There were two other scenes shot during the day that I didn't get any photos of the cast at. One in Oceanic Plaza, which is used by EVERYONE at some point, they had a scene where a group of spectators were watching something happen in the sky, but no actors were there for it. Then after the roof top scene, was a scene in an alley where they were using a drone to film... something? Whatever it was, it wasn't actors, I can tell you that much. A bit later I caught up with Stephen and Grant Gustin filming at a different location. While I had seen both of them at the roof top location, it was only for brief moments as they wanted to & from the set from their trailers. Grant once, noticed me there taking photos, and waved, then showed off his new attire, trying to put on a bad boy sneer with it. Of course, since I wasn't given prior warning to his plans, I both missed the wave, and him flaunting the wardrobe off to me, as I had started shooting too late to catch the wave, and ended too soon to catch the showing off in its entirety. At the other location Stephen, as Oliver Queen. Grant as Barry Allen, both shot a scene where the pair stormed down a street together, running into an apartment building before getting into an altercation inside the building. The pair were both dressed like boyband members pretending to be hoodlums. They had jackets on that said "Trigger Twins" on them. All I could think when I heard the term was how often triggered is used on the internet, and wondered, are Barry & Oliver internet vigilantes? But in all seriousness, the pair shot this series of scenes there, before they took a break. When they went on their break, I left, because I really didn't think anything more special would be happening. Sometimes I get this wrong... this was 1 of those rare occurrences. Barely after I got home & took my shoes off, I got a DM from a twitter user that was there @themyscirabound telling me Stephen showed back up, in full GREEN ARROW wardrobe. I asked Themyscirabound if she felt like sending me a couple photos to put in this post, and she agreed, so if you use any of the photos of Stephen in the Green Arrow attire below, credit HER. For other behind the scene blog posts of Arrow go HERE For Arrow autographs gallery go HERE The Arrowverse event will air on December 9, 10 & 11 on The CW in the U.S. If you are in Canada, and do NOT have Netflix... You will have to watch it by Unofficial means, because the morons at The CW have given Netflix the rights to air The Flash the next day (it literally does NOT air live ANYWHERE in Canada), while giving Arrow to the Showcase network, and giving Supergirl to the Space network. The former network that carried them, CTV, now has none of them for some reason. So uhhh, I guess good luck with watching it. UPDATE: October 17, 2018- Instagram user Joe D'Aquisto allowed me to post the links to his two instagram videos here. They are of Grant & Stephen running down an alley, and Grant dancing around between takes. Enjoy. Video One Video Two |
