THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS PHOTOS AND A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SCENES SHOT FOR EPISODE 423 OF "ARROW". If you have not seen the episode yet, and do not want to see or read any possible spoilers, do not continue with this article. . . . last warning . . Arrow shot scenes for the season 4 finale in mid-April in downtown Vancouver with several cast and their stunt team on set..... and a WHOLE LOT OF EXTRAS. The two day shoot at the often used Oceanic Plaza near Burrard and Hastings had Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk there with a bunch of his ghosts taking on Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen / Green Arrow, and a few of his friends...and civilians. Also seen on set were David Ramsey as John Diggle / Spartan, Audrey Marie Anderson as Lyla Michaels, and SOMEONE dressed in a Black Canary outfit. I say "someone" because anyone that was there who managed to set eyes on her only did so for a brief moment here or there. The 1 and only time she was out in the open was walking back from a food truck, and when another set blogger and myself moved down the block to get a closer look, an over zealous security guy decided to act like he was saving lives from terrorist sniper fire and was purposely trying to impede our views.... thus why I only got 1 pretty blurry pic of her. What I WILL say is, the outfit is VERY Laurel BC, and NOT Sara Lance or Evelyn Sharp looking, as you can see from the mask. Did the producers pull a fast one on everyone & lie about her death being permanent? I'm inclined to believe no. I think shes still dead. Why this Black Canary look was on set, we WILL have to wait & see if they are even in it. I have my doubts. The scene, which took up a large part of the block to shoot, consisted of a few scenes that I suspect will all fall together in the end., First 1 I saw was where Damian & Oliver battle it out as Oliver seems to crawl out of some type of makeshift memorial for the dead in the Havenrock attacks, & it looks like Darhk is getting the upper hand. The next night was the big fight scene. Hundreds of extras, some ghosts, some civilians, faced off in the middle of the street with Darhk and Oliver right in the thick of it. With so many fight scenes taking place, the stunt team had a lot of work those two nights and I honestly saw them on set more than the actors on the 2nd night. Kudos to them as always, especially since they had to work till late into a Fraturday both nights. During the lunch break on the first night, I FINALLY had the good fortune of meeting Neal McDonough. Such a nice guy, as he signed my photos eve though 1 of the crew attempted at first to prevent it, and even signed 1 for a fan visiting from Arizona who knew him from another project as well. This would turn out to be my LAST autographs of the season for Arrow. Solid way to go out. As I said, another set blogger was there, and you can see his photos HERE (hes got some pretty good ones from angles I didn't have). Arrow season finale will be on Wednesday May 25, 2016 on The CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada. You can view all our previous BTS Arrow photos & videos from the past 4 seasons HERE

THIS POST CONTAINTS POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 313 OF "ARROW" TITLED "CANARIES". If you have not seen this episode yet, and do not want to know anything prior to viewing it. DO NOT read the article or view the photos. Leave now. . . . last warning . . . It has been QUITE AWHILE since the last time I caught Arrow out shooting anywhere. In fact, the 1st episode of the season, is the last time I have seen them actually filming. I've been to a few sets, but none that were outside. Earlier this month I ran into The CW hit vigilante action show "Arrow" downtown shooting a couple of scenes for episode 313, titled "Canaries". I planned on eventually doing these blogs over the holidays, however...after the shocking finale to episode 309 "The Climb" for the mid-season finale, I felt a need to rush this particular set out fast. A scene was shot on a rooftop of a "bad guy" (some of us at the set nicknamed him "knock off Jesse Pinkman".. if anyone knows the actors name, feel free to let me know so I can properly credit him.) getting chased by 2 men in costumes. Colton Haynes and his stunt guy Curtis Bracconier were dressed as the Roy Harper alias Arsenal, along with ANOTHER masked vigilante..... STEPHEN AMELL and his stunt man Simon Burnett as the Oliver Queen alias ARROW. We all knew that Oliver Queen would some how survive his fall off the mountain top. The bigger question though was....how long would he be "missing"? Some internet sites have suggested the show would be Amellless for up to 4 episodes, while others suggest it will be just 1 episode. Well, unless Roy Harper is hallucinating his mentor running along side him. It appears Arrow is back in Starling City by episode 313 or sooner. After the shooting wrapped. I had a chance to meet Stephen again, and he apologized to the several fans waiting out there for not coming down on his lunch break. He said "my wardrobe had a bit of a spoiler on it..." which instantly made me go home and look at my pics. Only immediate difference I could see is what appears to be 6 spots on his shoulder that are in the shape of an arrow funny enough...but I THINK they are some type of arrows, or arrow heads? In any case.... looks like someone gave Oliver a Christmas present. Of course, the change to his outfit wasn't the big shocker from this. That is OF COURSE the fact that at least in some way shape or form in episode 313, if not sooner, we will see The Arrow back in Starling City. Arrow is currently up for several awards in our year end Best Of TV Awards going on right now. You can vote HERE. Arrow will return from its holiday hiatus January on The CW in the U.S. & CTV in Canada. Season 3 of Arrow begins this upcoming week. After 2 roller coaster season finales, its going to be interesting to see how the people of Starling City can be traumatized even more in season 3. I caught up with the cast of Arrow shooting some scenes in the first week of their schedule. There was a couple scenes I saw that day which included a little Olicity time, as well as the new Chief Of Police Quentin Lance talking to media while his daughter & Oliver looked on. But this isnt about those scenes. There was a night shoot that day. I wasnt expecting to see much of it, and frankly, after seeing what my photos looked like (I kept a couple REALLY crappy ones in there so you get an idea what 85% of my night shots tend to be), I should have went home early. I stuck it out and manage to catch very small glimpses of some scenes shot on the roof of the Plaza Of Nations that entailed the stunt team as well as cast members Stephen Amell dressed like Arrow, Caity Lotz dressed like Black Canary and Peter Stormare as the new Count Vertigo (whether any others were up there....who knows... thats all I saw from my limited vantage point). The only undeniable things I can say for sure is, Count Vertigo and Arrow have a pretty detailed fight on the roof that saw their stunt people partake in. As well, some VERY close up shots of Stephen. Lastly a short scene of Black Canary (Lotz/her stunt person?) coming in and swinging her staff around at seemingly nothing. From where I was, about 250 ft away and another 30 ft below, there was not a lot I could see, and with the exception of the rare time I saw both the actors and their doubles within my line of view, I could only assume who was doing which scenes 1/2 the time with the exception of the fight scene which clearly looked like the stunt team, and the close up which was clearly Stephen. So, here is the 1st night shoot shots I got this year from Arrow. I didnt label the photos specific since theres not a lot of them I am certain who it is in the photos. Some are Stephen, Caity and Peter, some are Simon Burnett, Atlin Mitchell and the stunt man for Peter. Arrow debuts Wednesday October 8, 2014 on The CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada. Arrow shot some scenes in East Vancouver 1 evening a couple months ago at Heritage Hall (which has been used by lots of film crews... including Arrow). Arrow is also up for several of our Best Of TV Awards 2013 A couple months ago, I caught Arrow filming near my house (its actually been happening A LOT this season). On this particular day, they were filming scenes in 4 spots throughout the day for episode 209 "Three Ghosts", the mid-season finale. A garage across the street that was all tented up to keep the light out was used for some scenes that included some Starling City PD. Roger Cross & Paul Blackthorne did scenes in there with several other Officers. This was of course the scene we now know as where Lucas Hilton is killed. Meanwhile, across the street they had scenes shooting with Kevin Alejandro & a bunch of people inside the Chapel Arts building. Later in the evening, they shot scenes in front of the Patricia Hotel with David Ramsey walking into the hotel to talk to a desk clerk while Stephen Amell's character (played by his stunt double Simon Burnett in these takes) sat in the car. Later, a scene at the back end of the hotel had Diggle (played by his stunt double Sylvesta Stuart) jumping off outside stairs onto the ground. I caught a few of the practice takes earlier in the day, but by night time, there was too much equipment in the way & lighting was so bad that I didnt get any shots of the actual stunts. Arrow airs every Wednesday on The CW in the U.S. & CTV in Canada as part of their AmellWednesdays with The Tomorrow People. Video Of Arrow shooting a scene for episode 202 with The Hood, China White & Bronze Tiger10/17/2013 Last night, you saw episode 2 of season 2 of ARROW. In it, you saw the return of China White & the debut of Bronze Tiger. Here is a short video of 1 of the scenes that was done with the stunt team for this episode where Arrow (Simon Burnett) drives thru an abandoned street & throws something at China & Bronze Tiger that explodes. You can see my photos from this night, including the FIRST photos of Bronze Tiger on set HERE You can catch past episodes of ARROW online In the USA HERE In Canada HERE I managed to catch up to the cast & crew of ARROW filming 2 days in a row, and in a rare event, I didnt get much from either shoot. Back in the end of July I found them in 2 different spots on consecutive days. Day 1 was in a make-shift studio in East Vancouver, so there was not much to see outside of some of the cast & their stunt doubles walking around. While I know Stephen Amell & his stunt man Simon Burnett, Kelly Hu & her stunt woman & former CFL star Tommy Europe (he has done stunts on lots of shows...maybe Michael Jai White's stunt man?) were all on set, I have ZERO knowledge what the scenes were. Day 2 was a night shoot in an area of East Vancouver that screams Glades stand in with its abandoned looking facade. On set that night were again, Stepehen & Simon, Kelly & her stunt woman, and Michael Jai White (aka - Ben Turner aka - Bronze Tiger) & a stunt person for Michael (couldnt tell if it was Tommy). We never got to see the scene done in 1 full take, so all I know is what pieces we did see. Arrow rolls thru the ghetto looking warehouse area on his bike, throws some type of flash grenade. Then a fight scene with Arrow VS China White & Bronze Tiger. What happens next is uncertain, because the next scene we were moved away as the camera would be shooting down the street, but we know it ends with China White hitching a ride on the back of a FEMA truck. Several fans waited around to see the shoot. Stephen Amell came over & met the fans at 1 point, signing autographs & taking photos with them. Kelly Hu on the other hand? Ignored everyone, even when asked specifically by someone less than 15 feet from her. Heres hoping The Hood ends her run on the show soon. I have some video of 1 of the scenes they shot, I just dont have the time right now to post it. Someday soon perhaps. |
