THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS PHOTOS AND POSSIBLE SPOILERS ABOUT THE SEASON 6 PREMIERE OF "ARROW". If you have not watched this episode yet, ad do not want to see or read any possible spoilers about it..... do not continue reading or viewing the photos below. . . . last warning . . Arrow started filming season 6 of Arrow last month in a few locations. The two that I caught up to them at was in North Vancouver, in Princess Park that they were using as part of Lian Yu. On set that day was everyone that we saw at the end of season 5 who were on the island actively trying to get out together. People I saw on set that day included Emily Bett Rickards, Willa Holland, David Ramsey, Echo Kellum, Juliana Harkavy, Manu Bennett and Anna Hopkins. I DID NOT see Katrina Law, but I did see a person dressed as Nyssa al Ghul there. I also never saw Katie Cassidy, Lexa Doig or Madison McLaughlin there. All that said, who I saw, and didnt see does not mean 1 way or the other who did or didnt die in the episode, as much of what they filmed on this day was simply showing what everyone did in the final minutes before Adrian Chase threw a Donald Trump sized temper tantrum & blew up an entire island. I do know from things I do know about this episode and others so far, 1 person from the lists above is in a coma, and as of the time of writing this, nothing has changed with the character coming out of it, or being killed off yet. I suppose if/when they finally decide that will decide if/when the cast member playing the character decides on returning or not. I managed to get some autographs that day from Anna Hopkins and Manu Bennett, despite crew being overly pushy about insisting they were "in a hurry" (despite the fact the minivan she said was in a hurry to leave sat there for another 4-5 minutes afterwards) The area they filmed in was so well concealed by ravines and forest that it took quite a bit of effort to even find ANY shred of area that I could see the scene from. While I could hear pretty much everything that happened, my visibility was limited to two small cracks between some trees.... thus why the limited selection of photos I managed to get. Much of the scene had the cast running, so the only chance to really get a shot of them was after they were done running. The best shots I got were of Emily Bett Rickards when she was finished shooting the entire scene, and wasnt in a rush to get back to her starting spot. In the pics, you can see Felicity is clearly covered in a variety of scratches. After they changed the set up for the scene, I seemingly lost the spot I had as a crew member was then there stopping people from trying to see from there..... so i moved on for that day. The only shot I know anyone got that day of Manu Bennett on set as Deathstroke was from twitter user @ArizonaJake A few days later, I managed to catch up to Arrow shooting a scene on the Georgia viaduct. Tis is of course the same viaduct they used for that impressive Deathstroke army marching into Starling City back in season 2. On this day, they had several of the cast there shooting a variety of scenes on the bridge. While most of the shooting while I was there consisted of two actresses and their stunt doubles doing a fighting scene, others were in fact there, and did film at various times.... albeit, mostly after I left. Katie Cassidy, Julia Harkavy, Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Echo Kellum & Paul Blackthorne were all seen on set, along with most of their stunt doubles as well. The majority of shooting took place with Harkavy, Cassidy & their stunt doubles. Below, at the bottom, is a quick video of 1 of the takes of the stunt team working thru the sequence. A special bonus..... a rare guest photographer. Local photographer Lightbox Gallery allowed me to use a few of his photos from the day.. You will notice the difference almost immediately between my shots, done with a $500 camera, and his, done with a $3000-5000 camera. You can find other photos hes taken of different celebs on his Twitter and on his Instagram While he did miss some of the stuff with Juliana and Katie out on set battling, he did get quite a few great shots, including a couple of Stephen, who I somehow never even noticed was on set at that time. This post contains filming information for Arrow episode 317 "Suicidal Tendencies". IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS EPISODE AND DO NOT WANT TO VIEW POTENTIAL SPOILERS, DO NOT CONTINUE READING OR VIEWING THE PHOTOS BELOW. . . . last warning . . Arrow was filming scenes a couple months ago for episode 317 "Suicidal Tendencies" in East Vancouver at a hall they have used several times for several things. This time, the hall was not a hospital, or hall of records, but a wedding hall. As I tweeted back when the shooting happened, the cast were shooting a scene for a wedding, and although my joke that it was Ray & Felicity wedding was met with some anger by overly sensitive Olicity fans, the true happy couple was eventually sleuthed out by the fanbase. David Ramsey and Audrey Marie Anderson as John Diggle & Lyla Michaels were shooting scenes where the couple gets re-married. Of course Dig & Lyla had a few friends at their joyous event of note. Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, Willa Holland as Thea Queen and Colton Haynes as Roy Harper and Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance were also all at the event. Very little of the actual filming could be seen from outside. Only things I can confirm are things that are already known on the internet. It was a Dig & Lyla wedding, and Felicity catches the bouquet. Outside of that, no dialogue was heard, and very little of the scene could even be seen thru the 2 pglass doors, dozens of extras and equipment. Of course, what would a Suicide Squad themeed episode be without a member of Amanda Wallers bunch? A scene was done outside after the reception scene with Dig & Lyla walking to a limo and getting in. Waiting for them on the inside was Michael Rowe as Floyd Lawton, aka - Deadshot. What takes place inside the limo, who knows? Perhaps the SS was playing security detail for the wedding? Or, Lyla or Dig was being called away to a job. Will have to wait till next week to see. This was what I call the "beginning of the end" of the Arrow set being a place where you could go & meet the case easily. There was no less than 20 people throughout the day at the set, and at 1 point, 19 people were there at the same time. Sure enough, it encouraged many of the cast to start sneaking out the back doors when they were on a break instead of coming out the front doors as they did when there was only 5 or 8 of us. This was of course part of what I call a "perfect storm" of circumstances. The 4 big productions in town were all on location that day (Flash, Once Upon A Time & Supernatural along with Arrow), as fans went to the other locations & found them to be either inaccessible, or boring, they all flocked to the Arrow set where they were hearing about how many cast were there & how accessible they were. It was clearly obvious that 1/2 of the people at the Arrow set that day were not even fans of the show, but just wanted to meet "someone famous". I miss the days where there was just 2 or 3, and sometimes just me, at the set. Arrow airs Wednesday nights on The CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada. THIS POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 314 OF ARROW TITLED "THE RETURN" If you have not seen this episode yet and do not want to read or view any material about the episode, please do not read the article or view the photos below.. . . . last warning . . This week we finally see the return of Oliver Queen to Starling City in present day on Arrow. After his dramatic "death" in the mid-season finale a lot of people wondered when the "Emerald Archer" would return to Starling City. With that question now answered..... it is time for the show to move back to its stories that are playing out around this. One of those stories is Olivers 5 years "away" from Starling City. I put away in brackets because we learn from episode 314 "The Return" he was in Starling city during his 5 years away. Stephen Amell donned his "island hair" under a Starling City Rockets hat as he shot scenes with Karl Yune in downtown as they do scenes set in 2010. The pair were watching someone come out of Queen Consolidated, but who? and why? After Stephen and Karl shot their scenes, another quick scene was shot also outside the Queen Consolidated headquarters. It showed Willa Holland dressed as Thea Queen in 2010 in her private school outfit. When you see these scenes put together, I suspect we will be watching big brother Oliver checking in on his young sister while he is in Starling City on business for Amanda Waller. Since everyone now knows the episodes synopsis I guess I can officially say what I suspected back when this day of filming happened..... The Return DOES NOT refer to Slade (as Marc Guggenheim tweeted it didnt) or even the return of Colin Donnell. Instead, it is Oliver Queen returning to Starling City in flashbacks.
I have another blog for episode 314 with photos of Katie Cassidy and Colin Donnell in a scene HERE. Arrow airs Wednesday nights on The CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada. THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS MILD SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 22 OF SEASON 2 OF ARROW TITLED "STREETS OF FIRE". If you do not want to see or read anything about the episode prior to seeing it, please do not read the article or view the photos. . . . last warning . . Been awhile since I had caught up with any of Arrow's guest stars. Seen a few sets with the regulars, but not till I caught up to Jessica de Gouw a couple months ago, I had not seen any of the guest stars in awhile. Since then however, its been a constant flow of the guest stars I have caught up to. First was Bex Taylor-Klaus, for the episode "Seeing Red", and now Kevin Alejandro & John Barrowman. The pair were in town shooting scenes for the Arrow season 2 penultimate episode titled "Streets Of Fire". First I caught up to Brother Sebatsian Blood in Burnaby at their non-studio studio in South Burnaby. I also saw Paul Blackthorne that day, as well as some stunt doubles. But the only cast member I had a chance to interact with was Alejandro. He wasnt there long, telling me he was only there to film 1 day. So his role in episode 22 is probably limited to a couple scenes. In these scenes he was dressed as Sebastian Blood, and not Brother Blood. Though that doesnt mean he could not have shot some scenes as his masked version. This would be the 1st time I would catch up to Kevin since October on the set of "Three Ghosts". A few days later, I found Arrow signs downtown & did the bread trail follow till I found their site inside the Vancouver Greyhound & train station. There I found John Barrowman dressed up as his Malcolm Merlyn alter ego Dark Archer. Barrowman was his typical personable self, making faces for my camera. However, the crew asked me to leave after the rehearsals, so I never got to shoot any of the scene with Barrowman in full Dark Archer garb that also included Willa Holland. All I could tell from the rehearsal was Dark Archer shows up while people are panicking & running around the train station. He then pulls his bow out & aims it at something/someone. This was the 1st time I caught up to John on set since last season. Arrow airs Wednesday nights on The CW in The U.S. & on CTV in Canada. Arrow, the 2013 Best Action Or Drama Program winner in the Best Of TV Awards 2013 filmed scenes at the Vancouver Trade & Convention Centre (which was the same place they had Ollies welcome home party in the pilot) for a scene from this last episode of season 2 before the Olympic Hiatus. In this scene, I was uncertain exactly what was happening, partially because of the glare off the glass I was watching thru, but also, I could only see about 20% of the entire scene. I now know, it was for an election rally for Moira Queen...yes, murderer turned politician. This would be too absurd to believe if Rob Ford wasnt a thing that exists. At the time I thought I had caught photos of a nice mom/son embrace, but as we all know from the episode now, this was a less than pleasant encounter between mother & son. On set was a variety of cast over the 2 days they shot there. Stephen Amell, Susanna Thompson, Willa Holland, Emily Bett Rickards & David Ramsey were certainly there at times. Colin Salmon was also on set for the scenes, but I never saw him around. Here are the handful of pics I got that day. Sorry I am so late posting them, Christmas & my year end awards, which Arrow won a couple of, got in my way of blogging about my set encounters. Better late than never? THIS BLOG POST HAS PHOTOS & WRITING ABOUT SCENES FOR EPISODE 22 OF SEASON 1 OF THE CW SHOW "ARROW". If you do not wish to know anything about the episod eprior to seeing it, do not continue reading or viewing the photos.
. . . . .last warning . . This past weekend I found The CW hit vigilante action show "Arrow" filming some scenes in downtown Vancouver (aka - Starling City ) at an office tower that is apparently standing in for Queen Consolidated Headquarters. On set was a plethora of cast, as the star of the show Stephen Amell, decked out in his Oliver Queen attire was joined by Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, John Barrowman as Malcolm Merlyn, Willa Holland as Thea Queen & Colton Haynes as Roy Harper. As well, Colin Donnell as Tommy Merlyn was around in a different scene that I didnt see. The spectators were unable to hear what was going on, but from the few takes we saw, we were able to piece together some of what the scene consists of. It seems to have Thea & Roy in the lobby of Queen Consolidated where Oliver walks up to them & starts to talk to them. Felcity is standing in the background near the elevator banks for whatever reason. Malcolm leaves the building while this conversation goes on. Not a lot I could make of this when I watched that scene. A bit later another scene was done where Felicity would leave the building & Oliver would follow suit. Whether to chase after her, or just purely coincidental I cant be sure, but it lead to a few moment sof Ollicity hanging together in between takes off camera before they would head back in for the next take. Later in the evening a stunt was being done in the elevator. I dont know much of it, but saw a few takes thru the screens the cameras were broadcasting to of a scene with Felicity & Oliver in an elevator that seemed funny, as a 3rd person would try to join them in there only to have their binder pushed out by Oliver into the lobby just before the doors are about to close causing the poor unsuspecting person to leave the elevator giving Ollicity some alone time on the elevator. I'm going to assume the elevator stunt I heard about that was going to go on was in conjunction with that scene, but I cant confirm it, but I was told by someone at the set that it was going to consist of a jump down an elevator shaft. Funniest part of the evening was when Emily got ambushed by my friend & a few others during a snack break to sign & take photos. She decided she had to take the photos with at an angle, because she didnt want to spoil the uniform she was wearing.... now only if she had told the cast the same thing, as 1 of them tweeted photos of her in the outfit prior. The question is... why is she in a Big Belly Burger uniform? This was filming for the 2nd to last episode of the 1st season for Arrow.
