The Sexiest Actor of 2011 as voted by you the fans was.. Jensen Ackles.
This comes as no shock to someone who reports on Supernatural a lot. I have learned over the past couple years theres 2 things that are evident about SPN fans. 1- their online devotion to the show, and 2- their overwhelming support of Jensen as their favorite cast member. While his castmates also have quite a lot of rabid fans as well, there is a sizable difference in the attention I get for a blog post of just Jared or Misha, as opposed to a post including Jensen. His win as sexiest actor was not too shocking to me. From the get go, I expected him to at worst, be in the top 3. Jensen had a couple of times where a challengers made a run at him & even dipped into 2nd a couple times, but he eventually pulled ahead & the pulled away from runner up Tom Welling. The Supernatural dominance grabbed Jared Padalecki 3rd & Misha Collins 4th. Early on leader Johnny Depp finished 5th, Fringe stud Joshua Jackson nabbed 6th, apparent "sexiest man alive" Ryan Reynolds did not win such honours here getting 7th, neither did another alleged "sexiest man alive" Ryan Gosling who was 8th. 9th was Lost Girl star Kris Holden-Ried, 10th was The Secret Circle star Gale Harold, who despite a boycott by some of his fans to my site still managed to make it to the finals, 11th was Chris Evans, and Smallville co-star Justin Hartley rounded out the finalists. This was the poll with the most lead changes. 29 lead changes, 16 on day 1, 6 on day 2, from 5 different challengers. Jensen, Tom, Johnny, Joshua & Kris all held leads, although only Tom or Jensen held the lead at any time past day 4. Final vote results Jensen Ackles 1087 Tom Welling 851 Jared Padalecki 676 Misha Collins 548 Johnny Depp 535 Joshua Jackson 399 Ryan Reynolds 347 Ryan Gosling 310 Kris Holden-Ried 195 Gale Harold 186 Chris Evans 159 Justin Hartley 144

Since January 24, 2011 my site has hosted a league and playoff tournament to find out my readers favorite Male & Female TV characters.
After almost 6 months, over 29000 playoff votes counted, over 28000 regular season votes counted, plus thosands more that were discarded for various reasons....we have some champions. 144 characters, 80 male, 64 female characters started out with hopes & dreams back then. Early on, it became clear there was 8 or 10 characters whose fans had become quite determined to push their favorites to the top. I guess its no surprise, considering my site talks primarily about Vancouver based shows, most of those characters were from Vancouver shows. Smallville had 4 characters in Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Oliver Queen & Chloe Sullivan who early on emerged as serious contenders. A twitter campaign by Olivers 1st round opponent thwarted his chance to go far. Clark Kent had an indominable regular season, but once the playoff format of no multiple voting was in place, his support tailed some. Still Clark pushed thru to the mens finals, before finally falling. Chloe managed to hold on till the elite 8 of the womens tourney before she finally gave way to her castmate, Lois Lane....the eventual winner of the womens division & the only undefeated contestant in either side of the tournament. Supernatural super hunter Dean Winchester looked unstopable early, while the shows other characters like Sam Winchester, Bobby Singer, Castiel & Crowley all started slow, but gained momentum as things rolled along in the regular season. In the playoffs Castiel went out early, losing to eventual finalist Clark Kent in round 2. Crowley would meet the same fate in round 3, losing to Clark Kent. Bobby Singer came within 1 game of knocking off his buddy Dean Winchester in round 3, but eventually gave way to the man who would eventually go on to win the Mens title, Dean. Fringe lead female character Agent Olivia Dunham looked poised to also take a run at the title in the regular season, as was agent Astrid Farnsworth who won her division in the regular season. Astrid could not continue the success in the playoffs, bowing out in the sweet 16 round of the womens division. The shows male counterparts Peter & Walter Bishop both had strong regular seasons, playoff success didnt follow them as much, with each bowing out before their own division finals. Agent Olivia Dunham pushed thru to the womens final, before eventually being swept by womens champion Lois Lame. Sanctuary lead character Dr. Helen Magnus had a slow start & only barely got into the playoffs with a losing record none the less...but once there, she proved to be a formidable opponent as her fanbase caught on to the game & pushed her to the final 4 of the womens tournament before losing to eventual champ Lois Lane. Stargate Universe had many challengers in the playoffs. But playoff success was limited for the SGU crew. With all the contestants, including 3 regular season division champs in Eli Wallace, Dr. Dale Volker & Vanessa James, from the now cancelled show bowing out by the sweet 16 draw of each side. There was some success for shows not from the 604. The Big Bang Theory had 3 male playoff contestants, with Dr. Sheldon Cooper, Raj Koothrappali & Howard Wolowitz all making it. None however found a terribly successful playoff formula. However, lead female Penny made it to the final 4 on the womens side & even had a 2-0 series lead before falling to Agent Olivia Dunham. How I Met Your Mother had 3 division champs in the regular season. Robin Scherbatsky, & Lily Aldrin on the womens side. Both however fell in the womens sweet 16 round. On the mens side, Legen..wait for it...DARY ladies man Barney Stinson made it to the mens final 4 before falling to Clark Kent. The Simpsons mastermind Homer Simpson made the mens final 4 finals before bowing out to eventual champion Dean Winchester. Several other challengers like Richard Castle from Castle, Dr. Gregory House of House, Daphne Powell from No Ordinary Family, Penelope Garcia of Criminal Minds, Seeley Booth from Bones & Turanga Leela from Futurama also flirted with some playoff success before leaving in the elite 8 rounds of their respective genders. In the end. Dean Winchester from Supernatural won the mens tournament over Clark Kent of Smallville, while Clarks main squeeze, Lois Lane defeated Agent Olivia Dunham from Fringe for the womens title. So congratulations to your 2011 favorite TV character winners Mens- DEAN WINCHESTER (Jensen Ackles) "Supernatural" Womens- LOIS LANE (Erica Durance) Smallville Sunday March 19th, 2011 goes down as 1 of great accomplishment and great disappointment to the legion of fans, crew & cast of The CW hit show Smallville. This was most certainly the day many of the crew & cast would see each other for the last times during the shows amazing 10 year run. They may go on to cross paths over the years on new projects, they may possibly never cross paths with some of these people again. But on this night, a whos who of the people who made Metropolis come alive on the TV screens had 1 last hurrah together, it was the final Smallville wrap party at the 98 year old Vancouver Club.
While the hordes of crew & friends entailed the majority of the guests, there were certainly some cast, old & new there as well. The event did not start till 8 PM, and it was not too long after that the first guest of note arrived. With the party not starting till later evening, it should be no shock the first cast member to arrive was Connor Stanhope, the 13 yr old who portrays a young Lex Luthor arrived with his mother. He signed autographs for the people who asked, took photos with and went into the party. As someone thats seen a few child actors in the past few years with some very overly protective parents, it was actually a relief to see his mother not just seem excited about all of it, but made the effort to get out of the way when the photographers there wanted a couple photos of young Connor arriving. The next to arrive was the man who played 1/2 of 1 of TVs most iconic brother pairs off the hit 80s show The Dukes Of Hazzard. John Schneider, the man who plays Jonathan Kent was next to arrive. I had seen Mr. Schneider earlier in the day, and just like he was then, the man was a class act. He signed for everyone, took photos, chatted a bit, then strolled into the party.... he would turn out to be 1 of the shortest staying guests. Alessandro Giuliani was next to arrive. However, the man who plays Dr. Emil Hamilton in the latter seasons was noticed too late for the crowd to really react, and he managed to get in without being asked by 1 single person for anything. Next up was the man, the myth, the legend, The Blur. Literally, the blur zipped by. Tom Welling arrived with 2 or 3 friends (didnt note who was with him, but since I know your going to be asking, I do not believe his wife was 1 of them.). Clark Kent arrived wearing a suit...with a hoodie over top & a cap pulled down and probably took like 6 steps from the cab door to the top of the stairs in his mad dash to avoid interaction. One fan moved in a few feet towards him at the staircase & Tom didnt even slow down, just simply did a 1/2 step away from her to suggest "yeah, dont bother" & was shortly there after, inside. While Welling was arriving at the party, Schneider was leaving. He claimed it was because of the loud music... I think he just didnt want to be in the same room as Welling (thats NOT a real assumption by the way... just me being a smart ass.). Keri Lynn Pratt, the actress that portrays Cat Grant was next to arrive & signed for those who asked. Next up was Cassidy Freeman, aka- Tess Mercer. Like Welling, she avoided coming over to the crowd of 17 people. Unlike Welling, she at least acknowledged the crowd by waving at them & smiling before heading in. Erica Durance & her husband, former Stargate actor David Palffy arrived. While Durance signed for the crowd, I had a chat with Mr. Palffy over some things I have said in the past about him that had been misconstrued by someone close to the couple to sound far worse than they were intended. After talking with him I can certainly say he was a very rational, civil & personable man. Not everyone would give someone a chance to explain themselves, but he did. He even told me he would talk to Erica inside about signing for me on departing the party as she opted not to sign for me, clearly showing me thru her actions that yes, she was dissatisfied with what she had heard/read about/from me in the past. Any issues you the fans have with David, I can assure you, are very likely over exaggerated or wrong. I'm not going to go into details of what was said, but he was quite open & blunt about several things. He was actually a far more personable man than what I interpreted him to be a year ago... and this is not me trying to kiss up to them. It does me no good now to "pretend". The show is over. I'm also not the type to try & make nice with people just for PR reasons as I am sure any regular readers of my site know. I call it just as I see it, plain & simple, and to me, Mr. Palffy was fair & reasonable. While Durance was signing, 2 other Smallville stars also came in. Justin Hartley, the man who is the Green Arrow & Oliver Queen strolled in and shockingly did not stop for the group. Over the past year I have seen him get a bit more limiting on autographs, but he was always good about stopping. Tonight however, even with several people calling to him only 15-20 ft away, he didnt make the effort to come over. Sorta shocking to me. Kristin Kreuk, or as you know her Lana Lang from the earlier seasons arrived with them as well. With all the attention on Durance & Hartley she managed to sneak in with few people even noticing her. much of the talk lately has been about whether she will or wont be in an episode. My feeling on it, I think she is. My friends & I caught her coming back to town recently in mid-week while she was working on another project in LA for a 2 day stint here. Sorta random to come in mid-week for only 2 days. Then on top of it, she comes to the wrap party? She is the only person who arrived that isnt part of this seasons shows if she isnt actually in it..... so read into it what you want. I already have. Perhaps I am wrong, guess in a few weeks I will know eh? Not long after that, some of the crowd dispersed, and a slightly more manageable 10 or so people waited it out. Jessica Parker Kennedy was next to leave. The girl who plays Plastique was very nice & signed for me as she waited to get into a cab. She is currently in town working on a TV pilot "Secret Circle". Next to depart was Cassidy Freeman. Even though this time she had to walk right past us, even so close she patted me on the arm as she was passing, she refused to sign. I've never seen her refuse before, and considering she came that close to where we were, I am even more shocked. She didnt really say why she couldnt, just that "I cant tonight, sorry". Not sure what her reason was, but I cant be too hard on her, shes been great with us several times prior. Just shocking still though. Kristin Kreuk, Erica Durance & David would be next to leave. While Kreuk came over & signed for the crowd, David spoke to Erica & she came over to me & signed for me. I apologized to her for anything that she thought was said by me in the past, she said its water under the bridge in her mind & signed. I had to frantically scramble to find my items too as I was caught at a moment of attempting to re-organize my items when they came out, because of this, I ended up getting Kreuk on my cast logo photo, instead of a single photo of her as I had intended...still, happy to take it, as she is at times an unwilling participant in signing autographs. The trio left together from what I recall. Little did I know that was going to be the last autographs I would get that evening. Last to be spotted leaving, at 1:20 AM... Connor Stanhope. Seriously. The youngest guest there (no one else was even CLOSE to under 19) was the last cast member spotted leaving. Not long after that, security was locking up the building & then we started to get a bit concerned about if Tom & Justin may have snuck out the back. We knew there was that chance all evening, but no one wanted to make the sacrifice of checking it out. When a waitress from the event came out waiting for her cab, I asked her in a way that made it assume that we knew people were left in there still how many were left, which she replied "sorry, but theres no one left in there but cleaners". In my line of work you hear lots of lies, so you always read between whats said, but she said it with such sincerity & seemed unaware why we would even be waiting that we believed her. That was the official end of the evening. If Tom & Justin were still in there, they outsmarted the crowd outside, and the crew inside. Only notable people that werent there. Allison Mack & Annette O'Toole (the latter who left that morning). Was also a bit shocked Michael Shanks wouldnt come since he lives here. I am sure if Jensen Ackles had not left that morning, he too would have probably come. Only non-Smallville person I did see was Thomas Dekker, who is in town doing a CW pilot show. So that is it Smallville fans. Your show, all the moments & memories it has brought you end this week...at least in the filming side of it. Tonight was probably bittersweet for many of the crew & cast as it is the end to a large piece of their recent lives. Luckily, you still have a few more episodes to soak in before Tom/Clark & flies (possibly) off into the sunset. EDIT- For a few pics from the night, check out another locals blog here... http://www.lindsaylovesherbike.com/2011/03/smallville-wrap-party.html?spref=tw So last weekend there was a wrap party for season 1 of the new CW cheerleader drama Hellcats at V Restaraunt in Yaletown. With only a few days left in their shooting schedule, this was the weekend they chose to have it on, as surely next weekend some or all of the cast may have dispersed.
Usually wrap parties see a handful of cast show up, but theres always some missing. The Hellcats cast was surprisingly full, with really only 2 notable secondary cast, Gail O'Grady (Wanda Perkins) & Gale Harold (Prof. Julian Parish). Everyone else I could think of made it. The first cast members I saw show up were Sharon Leal (Vanessa) & Craig Anderson (Morgan Pepper). Shortly after Ben Cotton (Travis Guthrie) arrived & was willing to chat for a few minutes about the show, his character & his new pilot "Battlestar Galactica Blood & Chrome". Then came the primary cast. First up was Aly Michalka (Marty Perkins) followed shortly after by Ashley Tisdale (Savannah Monroe), Robbie Jones (Lewis Flynn), as well as Heather Hemmens & Matt Barr (Alice Verdura & Dan Patch) who came together. They all showed up within a couple minutes of each other, so there wasnt a lot of chance to interact with all of them. Jeremy Wong (Dawrin) & Alana Randall (Frankie) apparently arrived at some point as well, but I didnt notice them going in. A couple hours would pass before anything would else would happen. It wasnt till a random Bronson Pelletier (Twilight Saga films) sighting walking by the restaraunt that things seemed to pick up a little. Shortly after seeing him out & about, Hellcats producer, and star of Smallville Tom Welling arrived with an entourage of 3 or 4 people which included co-star Justin Hartley. Some time would go by again before we saw another random sighting. Nickelback lead singer Chad Kroeger came to hang out with a few friends at the restaraunt downstairs from the party, Earls Restaraunt, which added to a very random night. First to leave was Ashley Tisdale, who was in a little more happy state coming out than she was going in. She signed for me, but refused to sign for my friend claiming her feet were hurting because of her shoes. I guess they didnt hurt 3 seconds before that??? More cast would slowly make their way out. Ben Cotton & Sharon Leal were next to depart (I cant remember in which order now). Then came the majority of the cast a little later, including Matt Barr & Heather Hemmens coming out together as they went in together. In between that group and the final group, Chad Kroeger came back out & joked with us as 2 of us were taking his photo asking how thats possible when theres only 1 magazine in town & then saying he hasnt seen so many cameras here since his court case for DUI a few years ago. Then, him & his friends got into a limo (wise choice for a man with a DUI on his record, good to see him planning ahead) and rode off home. It would be another 45 mins or so before the final batch would come down. Aly Michalka came out with her sister who we never saw arrive, her mom, Tom Welling, Justin Hartley & another female friend. Justin came out first to secure a taxi, and the cab driver was giving him attitude telling him he would only wait "a couple minutes to get out there". Justin went back & told the rest there was a cab there (called the cab driver a "dick" to his group..and rightfully so) only to have it taken from them after the girls insisted the taxi driver take a man who was bleeding profusely from the head to the hospital, after what can only be assumed was from some type of altercation just up the street. The cab driver was refusing to take the man, but the girls quite insisted & with 8-10 people telling him to, he begrudgingly took the man in more serious need of a ride than the rich celebs who then opted to walk home. Up the street they passed a couple men who had clearly had more than too much to drink who were threatening to throw down right in the middle of the fairly abandoned street. Tom seemed unfased by it & more fascinated to see if they were going to infact fight or not. Justin seemed to be encouraging the girls to just keep moving, as was I. Aly looked quite upset to be seeing it. At that point, I let them go on their way...or so I thought. Little did I know they would get to the next block & stop there for a few minutes, and I would again cross paths with them 1 more time before our nights finally quit crossing paths. Unfortunately, my cameras batteries were on deaths door, so I was being extra picky about taking shots & was really only shooting when I was sure I had a chance for a shot...to top it off, the flash refused to work 3 or 4 times, thus why I have no good Ashley pics, and the Tom pics are quite fuzzy & blurry.. since I had to resort to shooting him without my flash. Pics below of Ben Cotton, Matt Barr, ly Michalka, Heather Hemmens and the Loch Ness Monster, or is it Tom Welling? 20- Getting Jerry Seinfeld two nights in a row
TV icon & comedian Jerry Seinfeld came to Vancouver for a couple shows this past summer on his current tour. I have gotten Mr. Seinfeld before, and really, if it were not for hearing a few horror stories from around the continent, I likely wouldnt be including him in my top 20 for this past year. Jerry had 2 shows here & it was night & day for how he acted after each show. Going in he told us "get me after the show". So we came back after the show & Mr. Seinfeld signed a moderate handful, but got far from everyone. Many went away empty handed as the funnyman signed for a handful before leaving. I managed 1 that night but was hoping for more. So I went back the 2nd night. The encore night was much better, as Mr. Seinfeld stood outside for about 5 minutes signing, and everyone ran out of items. Another 3 for me the second evening took away the disappointment of the day prior. It was after me reporting on getting him that I was made aware that several people had been shut out by him in other cities recently. He has apparently been elusive at venues where the option to get in unconfronted is an option. I heard from others at the city right after here, this was the case there as well.... which made me all the more thankful that he played a venue with only outside entrances. With 2011 just around the corner, a new batch of bests should arise by the end of the year. With the likes of Mission Impossible 4, Twilight Breaking Dawn, Underworld 4 & Superman already slated for here, and the rumour that part of Die Hard 5 might come here, big names will certainly be in stock in Vancity in 2011. But, just like this past year many stars were here, its rarely the case of the big names that garner the best attention. The few times they do, they are worth noting though. 19- Benji & Joel Madden of Good Charlotte at the airport. This past summer, the brother from Good Charlotte came to Vancouver for some hanging out time. For a long time they were considered terrible signers, and we had not heard anything recent about them, so we prepared for the worst. My friend who got the tip of them coming in was hesitant to get too many things (which for him is rare), but I hastily raced to various used CD stores to get stuff for them. Total, there was 5-6 hounds there all with CDs at the ready. All with blue sharpies, and proof cams at the ready. The old GC I had heard about would have snapped at such a scenario. I have heard on multiple occasions in multiple cities, the band arguing & even being physically aggressive towards hounds. So we were prepared for the worst. Instead, we got a friendly, meek & personable Benji & Joel. They not only signed, they did multiples without complaint. A situation NONE of us expected, but were all happy to partake in. 18 - Getting 3X Olympic Gold Medal winner Hayley Wickenheiser at her tournament Sure, I know, I got like a dozen Hayley's at the Olympics. So whats the deal with getting her 1 more time thats so special? Well, first, theres the fact that it was after Olympic photos were out, thus giving us a good chance to get autographs from her on items from the 2010 games. The games that will, because of where they were, always be the most special to me. Second, it is 1 of my favorite athletes of all time, so I am always finding new things I want to get done. But what topped that was how cool she was about it & how she essentially held up her speaking engagement to sign for the group of us. She had an autograph session in a hotel that was housing her & some of the teams playing in her tournament. It was open to the public, so a handful of us went. Hayley the day prior had told 2 of the hounds to "bring everything tomorrow" & they did. I only came with 5 items and soon felt grossly underprepared as I watched my friends roll about 20 & 50 items each on her. Hayley did it all, said she didnt care what they were doing with it & even suggested she hoped they got good $ for it, and chatted at length with us in between piles. She took photos with my friends & their kids with her Gold medal. At the end, my friends both gave her collections, 1 in CD form, and 1 in actual print form of many of her greatest moments. She had apparently told them the day before that she had not seen much or any of the items they had... so they both did different things to show their appreciation to her. As you can imagine, she was thoroughly impressed & thankful. I dont know how many sports you can find where the undisputed best player of all time in that sport would sit down & sign 50 items for someone, without complaining and expecting nothing back. 17- Vancouver actors going to & coming back from Comic-Con Every year a variety of Vancouver based shows send a few of their cast to San Diego for the annual Comic-Con event. This gives Vancouver autographers a good chance to clean up on some of the more elusive of casts. Shows like Smallville, Stargate Universe & Sanctuary, who primarily shoot in studios are easier to find when there is only 1 flight in & out of town (granted some did take connecting flights thru other places.) A literal plethora of action happened going in & coming out. From Smallville, we got the likes of Erica Durance, Cassidy Freeman, Justin Hartley, and Tower Prep/Smallville cutie Elise Gatien. From Fringe we got Anna Torv, Blair Brown, Lance Reddick & Jasika Nicole (also saw Josh Jackson & John Noble, but neither were too receptive on departures). Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles & Jared Padalecki were terrific on departures, as was Sanctuary star Amanda Tapping returning. We also saw a few others from shows I was not prepared for like Eureka & Psych. There was plenty to get, and often, you would miss 1 person getting another as they would come & go in groups. But in the end, it was still worth the effort, as there are no less than 5 people from that weekend that I got that I have not been able to get since. 16- Getting Lady Gaga after a show Lady Gaga did 2 shows in Vancouver this past summer. The first night, she signed for everyone outside after the show. I am not going to sit here & tell you I was "really excited" or "thrilled" to get her, or even that she was coming. Personally, I think shes grossly overhyped. That being said, I really had to respect the P.R. job she did after her first show here. She signed, signed some more & didnt care what the item was or who was handing it to her. With the venues security actually trying to prevent me from getting an autograph, she reached for my item with a seeming purpose as to say "I dont care. Just hand it to me". She signed without hesitation for several minutes, and didnt shy away from the flashes of cameras. Although she was less willing to sign the 2nd day, the 2 time Grammy Award winning artist was still a willing signer the day after her show & the night of the 1st show. For someone of her status, at the peak of her career, to sign 2 out of 3 days is pretty decent. With 2 autographs on the trip, I consider her trip to Vancouver a success. 15- Getting Tom Welling... TWICE In the 10th season of Smallville I have gotten Tom Welling to sign TWICE. In the 9 seasons prior- ZERO. Long regarded as the worst signer in Vancouver, Welling this season has quite literally gone into a signing frenzy.... if you count about 8-10 autographs this season a frenzy. Prior to this season I only knew 2 people who had got the current Clark Kent in this town. Suddenly, this year I know of 4 people who have gotten him now... funny enough, each of us have got him on multiple occasions. My first epic shocking moment came back in late July, only a week earlier Mr. Welling had outright denied me... as he had many times prior over the years. So I was not expecting a change in results...but this time, there was a good luck charm in tow I didnt know about. See, Tom was coming back from a trip to L.A. with Matt Barr, a cast member from the TV show Hellcats that Tom produces. Matt as I will tell you later, is quite chummy with us. So when I saw him with Tom, I was hopeful that maybe Matt's persona would rub off on Tom. I broke the ice with "will you sign TONIGHT Tom" *emphasising the tonight to remind him that just a week earlier he turned me down standing in practically the same spot* with a somewhat unimpressed roll of the eyes, he reached over, grabbed the pen & signed. I was in shock for a minute or two. I walked over and snapped a quick photo of Matt & Tom going their seperate ways, then joked with Matt as he left that he was my good luck charm. I got him on a magazine that i had, no joke, carried with me on & off for TEN YEARS. Proof Matt is my good luck charm would come a bit later in the summer/fall when at an event for the Smallville's 200th episode party, Matt was in attendance and wouldnt you know it, Tom signed for everyone that waited it out that night...all 4 of us. It was without a doubt, the largest "autograph session" Tom has done for any experienced autograph hounds in Vancouver ever. 14- Jensen Ackles, almost any given weekend. When the biggest star of a hit TV show comes thru an airport, they expect some level of notoriety. Some handle it poorly, some handle it well. Jensen Ackles, for the mostpart, handles it quite well. The man who plays the sharp tongued Dean Winchester on Supernatural has been quite good about the growing attention this past couple years. For the first 4-5 yrs here, him & his castmates came thru Vancouver with little to no attention on them most days. now, any given weekend, odds are, there will be at least 1 person out there waiting for them. To top it off, the recently crowned "Best Lead actor in a drama" on the highly popular SpoilerTV polls is not just willing with signatures & photos with, but he is quite willing to give an opinion on most anything if asked. In fact, I have on multiple occasions have opted not to post things hes said, because I didnt know if its something that might come back to bite him in the ass later if the wrong people in the wrong position were to read it. It was the attitudes of Ackles & his co-star Jared Padalecki that have made me a fan of the show. I started watching it because of them, and found it to be one of the best shows on....but I never would have given it a chance, if it werent for their off screen actions. 13- Steven Segal signing day after day A lot of actors who are iconic names tend to be grumpy as their star fades. Steven Segal is not one of those people. The action icon has been in Vancouver for awhile doing a show/series of movies. In the early days of shooting, he was staying at a local hotel, and would be seen at least once or twice a day on average. Every time, he would willingly sign for whoever asked. Even those who he knew he had already signed for. Since moving to a permanant residence, he has not been seen around much, but for his efforts in the early days of shooting here, Segal earns a spot on the list. 12- The cast of Hellcats around town. Sure, Ashley Tisdale is a bit unfriendly at times, but she does show flashes of niceness. Her aside, the cast of the new CW show Hellcats is pretty great. Aly Michalka (along with her now guest starring sister AJ) is the real star of the show, and her off screen personality is absolutely spectacular. With the exception of 1 evening recently, she always seems up to the task of signing, chatting or taking photos with whoever is asking, regardless how many times she knows shes seen them. Matt Barr has been elusive in the past few months, but when he is seen around, he is a willing signer & chatter. Barr is one of the few stars who if he sees a hound or pap will make the effort to give a head nod or a hello before you see him. He also holds the distinction of being at the same place on BOTH occasions where I got Tom Welling this past year.... so hes also a good luck charm it would seem. Heather Hemmens is quite pleasant. Says alot about her acting that she can pull of the ruthless Alice character after you meet her. Sweet & friendly, Hemmens has been known to be so nice that she was still signing for me, while a driver (not even HER personal driver, but a hired one by Ms. Tisdale) was grabbing at her arm trying to make her go. Robbie Jones seems to always be all smiles. Recently upon returning from California, he was spotted by a larger than usual group & willingly signed for everyone & joked about how cold it was here & that he wasnt used to the weather. As a unit, this cast has been great. The few minor souring experiences with Ashley are more than made up for by Michalka, Barr, Hemmens & Jones. 11- Getting Misha Collins on the set of Supernatural There is an unwritten, enforced rule on the set of Supernatural. Dont ask people for autographs there. While this rule is predominantly enforced on the regulars for the shows two top stars Jared Padalecki & Jensen Ackles, its implied on everyone with the rest of the cast as well. So I was more than excited when I had the lucky break of being able to get Misha Collins, who plays the angel Castiel on the show, on set, in wardrobe. It was my first time meeting Collins with items to get signed. I had met the man 1 time prior, the season before, but was not yet aware of who he was, since I hadnt got to that point in the show yet. Another hound broke the ice, by encroaching into the area where Misha was, and with approval from Mr. Collins, we were allowed to wait for him as he came out of a tent to sign for us. After he signed, he chatted for a bit, and took a photo with me, in his Castiel wardrobe, then went back to the set. A couple of unamused glares from the security on the set mostly rolled off me as I was sincerely excited to get the 1 main cast member from the show that had eluded me to that point. Since then I have gotten him a couple more times, but that first meeting with him was the most memorable for the situation & how he dealt with it. Smallville had several of their cast members at the 2010 Comic-Con this weekend.
None bigger than Justin Hartley. Ok, breathe in & breathe out you Clark Kent fanatics. I am aware your anti-social hero is supposedly the star, but his bitterly hate filled attitude makes it impossible for me to acknowledge hes a star of anything. before someone rants "he just wants his privacy"..well, then quit television and for fuck sakes...dont become an underwear model. Yeah, he craves privacy alright. The Metropolis superheros played a little game of switch em' up on us this weekend. We saw Hartley leaving, but didnt see Welling. Then saw Welling return when we were expecting Hartley. Tommy boy was his spiteful, ignorant, narcissistic self upon returning, going as far as to blame other people for not signing for me..instead of just saying "I'm just a cocksucker, thats why I wont sign". he blamed having to catch his ride...because that 15 seconds of signing for the 4 people there would ruin his whole day. Then he blamed it on a pap shooting, because I guess a camera lense is physically capable of weakening his arm so much that he cant lift up a pen. All that aside. Tom actually said more to me there, than in the severla previous meetings combined over the years. I believe he even formed full sentences on occasion. Hooked on Phonics might be working for him. Tom did in fact sign 1 autograph, to the shock of everyone, on of all things...an 8x10 phot. The most dealer specific item there is. My Entertainment Weekly magazine, that I have dragged around on occasion since the 1st season he refused to sign, but a photo, he signed. The logic behind it is still unknown to any of us...even the guy who got it. In the world of Tom Welling, this was the NICEST hes ever been...and he was still a prick. All that aside, Justin Hartley, the class act of the show made up for his co-stars pisspoor attitude by signing up a storm upon departing for Comic-Con. He apologized for not having time to sign more & promised if he saw us upon arriving, he would do the rest. Now there is a class act. When I revise my best celebries list next, Justin will be making the list...which I guess will balance out the fact his co-star is already on the worst list. A few pics below...including the grand total ONE pic I got of Tom, after being denied by him for a 3rd time. Also, check out the polls section on the side. There is a poll for best locally shot TV shows. You can pick up to 3 shows, and Smallville is of course on the list. The annual Comic-Con going on right now in San Diego, California is wrapping today. But this weekend gave us Vancouver hounds a chance to get some of the stars of the local shows on their way down there.
Unfortunately, local productions Human Target, V & Stargate SGU were either not yet filming, or, on summer hiatus during this time, so the stars of these programs didnt head there from Vancouver, but from their home places. But the stars of Fringe, Smallville, Supernatural, Tower Prep came thru....along with Sanctuary & Psych (neither of which I saw anyone from) Smallville was sending down 4 of their most notable names. Erica Durance (Lois Lane), Cassidy Freeman (Tess Mercer), Justin Hartley (Green Arrow) & that other guy who is deathfly afraid of krypontite on the show, but even more afraid of cameras & sharpies in person. Supernatural sent out their main 4 cast, Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester), Jared Padalacki (Sam Winchester), Jim Beaver (Bobby) & Misha Collins (Castiel). Fringe was sending their entire starting 6 rotation. Anna Torv (Agent Olivia Dunham), Joshua Jackson (Peter Bishop), John Noble (Walter Bishop), Jasika Nicole (Astrid Farnsworth), Blair Brown (Nina Sharp) & Lance Reddick (Agent Philip Broyles) to the event. Another local show, Tower Prep was also sending cast members Elise Gatien (CJ... also know to Smallville fans as Speedy) Ryan Pinkston (Gabe Forest), Dyana Liu (Suki Sato) & Drew Van Acker (Ian Archer) More detailed reports on my interactions with these stars will come when I do more show specific blogs...but for now...heres some teaser pics to keep you amused till I have time for that. |
