Some old Smallville leftovers... and a few negative words about Tom Welling

Sometimes I shoot something, and at the time dont think its worth posting, or forget to post it because something bigger is going on. Sometimes, I just decide to wait till there is more photos worth making a set out of to add to it. Most of these photos are several months old now....but they never made the light of day at the time. Well, better late than never?

Smallville cast have been shown in my posts before. However, I do have a few shots still that havent been posted in those prior mentions.

In this bunch you will see a handful of pics from the past of Erica Durance, Cassidy Freeman, Justin Hartley, Allison Mack & the king of pricks, Tom Welling.

While the likes of Erica Durance, Justin Hartley, Cassidy Freeman & Callum Blue have been class acts with the locals. Tom Welling continues to be a cancer. His piss poor attitude that he has had since practically day 1 (even in season 1 he was a cock) even has worn on others who have been around him for any length of time. Kristen Kreuk is at best, unfriendly. Allison Mack who has no reason to have an ego, has one. Hopefully the newer castmates like Harley & Blue dont pick up Wellingitis. Also known as being a huge fucking douchebag.

In this set of photos, there is 1 of Welling standing in a secured area. He refused to leave that area, even going so far as to hide behind the small structure as much as he could to avoid even being seen by the 4 people who already knew he was there anyways. Despite a whopping FOUR people waiting for him till his ride showed up, Welling avoided even trying to be seen by them. An underwear model was afraid of being seen by people a 100 feet away???. When his girlfriend finally did show up, Welling speedwalked out & hopped in as if he had to go save a a baby from a burning building or something. Maybe someone needs to remind him he isnt actually Superman. he never acknowledged the 2 fans, let alone us. He never spoke. He just beelined for the vehicle as if he would catch some horrid disease if he slowed down. This is the same attitude every person who has ever met him has stated he carries.

I wont watch Smallville anymore. I'd like to. But I will not. I dont need to support the biggest douche in the industry... even if its at the cost of not supporting nice people like Freeman, Durance, Hartley & Blue.

It's true Tom is very private but I have been to the studio and others have spoken very kindly of him. Sure he might be publicity adverse but it's a bit of a stretch to accuse him of being a douche bag. There was a couple of photos of him on the internet taken by a guy wearing the Canadian flag at the Olympics and Tom was smiling and appeared very obliging.

I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting privacy. I've seen pictures of Tom Welling with fans so I think you're assumptions are probably wrong. Plus his cast mates talk highly of him when they're asked about him. And have you ever thought maybe he was just in a hurry and that's why he rushed to the car and didn't come out of hiding? Think about things before you assume people are so horrible.

Whoa chill out, dude. The man just wants his privacy and what is wrong with that? I agree with 'ladeda'. He definitely could have just been in a hurry. I don't get it. Why should Tom feel obligated to take photos with people or even let people take photo's of him? What because his co-stars feel more comfortable taking photos? It's a privilege for him to even have him grace our TV's.

All the cast members have taken photo's with fans. There is a limit some of the actors will go when it comes to photos of them. Tom just chooses not to be Tom the actor when he's trying to be a normal guy taking a flight, going to the grocery store, taking a walk etc.

The guy is private! Thank god. Imagine the type of people like yourself tearing him up, and trying to find a story in a photo, and assuming the worst in people.

I'm not a Kristen Stewart fan at all, but I feel sorry for her because no matter how many times I see her in magazines that are candid, she looks unhappy 70% of the time. Then people tell others that she should smile and answer their personal questions, and that she's rude. She has every right to be rude to rude people who ask her personal questions questions.

With Tom, I'm glad that he's not in the public eye as often. If he is, it's rare and I love that. I get tired of the actors/actress' who are trying to have a day of their own normally, getting ganged up on by photographers. I feel sorry for them.

FINALLY!! someones speaking the truth about him.
I worked as an extra on the show a few yrs ago.
the crew have some pretty unsavoury names for him & as an extra who only was around him for like 6 hours, I got the impression that all they said about him was pretty accurate.

hes a diva & a bit full of himself. Ive met 10 or so mid to big name celebs over my time doing this job. All were at least pretending to be nice. Except Tom.

fans are fans for a reason. they will blindly cheer on their idol/crush regardless what facts you show them. just know that some people like me know what you say to be true. dont let the haters deter you from voicing your opinions more in the future. your entertaining.

I found Allison Mack to be nice though. maybe a bad day for her when you met her.?

ps- I follow you on twitter. You seem like you would be an adventure to be around. In a good way.

Willy- So I'm a douche for pointing out that he is a douche?? Does that make him a double douche then? If I'm a douche, hes then a bigger douche. Fact is, hes still a douche.

TWfan- I understand privacy. But he is like this REGARDLESS where you see him or who you are. Even 3 girls that were on the flight with him said he refused to take a pic with them back in LA while he was waiting to board. He had all the time in the world to appease 3 FANS, and didnt.

Josiane- Even some of the biggest pricks I have met, are nice once in a blue moon...or if its for P.R. Doing it once every 100 interactions does not suddenly make you friendly. I have multiple encounters & many more encouter stories of his hate of fans than good stories.

Ladeda- Of course you have seem pics of him with fans. Even the biggest jerks are the most friendly people you'll eve rsee at corporate whorefests/meet & greets.Its how he carries himself AWAY from these functions that speaks volumes. Also, cast themselves would have to be pricks to say something bad about him. Its sort of "the code" to always talk about how great your cast mates are, especially when they are the star of the show.

Willy (again)- nope, not a fan. I think that was evident. the reason I am not a fan is he was a cock the first time I met him 7 or 8 yrs ago. I had heard bad things about him before that, and since then hes been a cock every time since. This isnt a 1 off random "caught him on a bad day" scenario. You have only heard nice things about him, because you dont want to acknowledge the negative.
I could say I have only heard nice things about Hitler if its the only things I acknowledge hearing, to try & keep some misguided self-made image of him up to a standard I have set in my own head.

haterzzz- Fair enough. I can only atest to the countless interactions I have had with him & the many others I have talked to...INCLUDING crew. MAYBE I have heard someone say something nice about him in the past, but with an overwhelmingly massive pile of negative, it has been long since forgotten. In Vancouver, his name is trash amongst those in the entertainment industry for a reason.
He obviously wasnt in THAT much of a hurry. He stood around inside for over 1/2 an hr waiting for his ride to drive around to the closest spot to pick him up, instead of walking out & going to the parking garage where his GF was originally parked.

You are right about fans are fans for a reason. There is the difference between being a fan of someone & accepting/understanding they are not infact perfect, ad being a fan(atical) that refuses to believe a single negative thing has ever been done by the person as long as they have been alive.

ElenaJosefina- Everyone has bad days. Correct. I have seen this in the past with truly class people.....but theres the difference. It was ONCE a blue moon. Its not the standard reaction you get from them.
Unfortunately, the standard reaction from Mr. Welling is one of arrogance & ignorance. Its actually the opposite with him of most people, in that he actually occasionally has a good day.

First off, at least have the courtesy to stop referring to the woman that picked Tom up as his girlfriend. Welling's been married to the same woman for like 8 years. Her name is Jamie. They were engaged by the first season of Smallville. If you're going to insult him at least have the decency to get your facts straight. She's his wife. Not his girlfriend.

Second, look you're entitled to say whatever it is you need to say. I don't know this man personally. But I will say that I think there's an assumption sometimes in this world that if someone is awkward or shy or don't like attention that it means that they are rude. It's not always the case. I've known plenty of people in my life who are just extremely private and are legitimately uncomfortable with attention and interacting with strangers. To the point where it gives them anxiety. And some of these people were professional actors or were in careers where they often had to get up in front of people and act confident. Welling has always been known for being intensely private. Many people have confirmed that he's a very private and almost intensely shy person. A few years ago he was supposed to do an interview with one of the fan sites and apparently backed out because he was so anxious. The fact that he's an actor doesn't mean that he automatically is comfortable with attention. Did you ever stop to think that the reason this guy is so intensely private is because this type of thing might legitmately cause him anxiety? Did you ever stop to think that the reason he stays so private and closed off is because it actually makes him uncomfortable to get attention in that way? Justin Hartley and Erica Durance are naturally gregarious people. You can see that from interviews. So stopping to talk to strangers might not phase them at all. Tom Welling is by all accounts borderline shy and doesn't like that kind of attention. And you know what? I don't fault him for that. I'm a long time fan of Smalllville but that guy doesn't owe me anything. All I ask is that he shows up on my TV screen every week and turns in a great performance--which he does. Frankly, one of the reasons I like him so much is because he's not an attention whore. I get so tired of seeing celebrities whoring it up for the camera in gossip magazines. I find it rather refreshing that he is so uninterested in fame. And I don't hold it against him that he's private.

I'm not knocking what you do. But frankly, I'm not sure I would want to stop and talk to someone who was just parked outside an airport trying to take the pictures of celebrities all day long either. There are some people that find that creepy.

I don't think Tom Welling owes fans anything more than his performance onscreen. He's entitled to his privacy on his own time. His professional colleagues go out of their way to compliment him, without being asked. The only people I've ever seen complain about him are those who want something from him, like a photo or an autograph. That always seems like sour grapes to me.

So let me get this straight....you are a self-proclaimed autograph hound...meaning that you basically stalk celebrities at the airport to try to get their autograph....and you are wondering why Tom Welling doesn't want to talk to you? Dude, I wouldn't want to talk to you either and it's not because I'm a bitch...it's because I think what you do is weird and it would kind of freak me out.

The bottom line is that you don't know Tom Welling. Sure, you can repeat what you've heard about him second hand but you don't know him and really neither do those other people. Even Allison Mack who has worked closely with Welling for going on 10 years has openly said that he's one of the most private people she's ever known. And that's coming from someone who actually DOES know him first hand and has interacted with him on a regular basis for almost a decade.

The truth is that so often in life we make the mistake of thinking that we can judge someone when the reality is that we don't know them at all. Tom Welling choosing to keep to himself all these years may not make him the best celebrity in terms of autographs or fan meet and greets....but it also doesn't make him an asshole. We never really know what's going on in someone's head or their personal life. Sometimes people are private because they genuinely are uncomfortable in social situations. Being an underwear model has nothing to do with it. Being "safe" behind a camera is not the same as being face to face with people in public spaces. Welling has always been like this. From Day#1 he's been private and shy. He's never been one of those guys that has to be out partying or trying to get attention. He shuns attention. To me, that says that he probably is just a genuinely private and shy person. But either way, I'm not here to judge and neither should you. You don't know him. And repeating random fan encouters and other rumors you've heard doesn't help your case either. Nor does repeating random rants from random extras. I've worked with tons of people over the years and I'm sure you could find some people who would say some bad stuff about me. That's just life. None of us are perfect. And most of those people don't really know me so I don't care what they think or say.

If you ever get the chance to really know this guy---to actually speak to him and have a real conversation-then fine. Maybe then you'd be able to form an opinion based on something that I would consider credible. But as of right now, you're repeating second hand comments from sources that you aren't citing and you're bitching because he wouldn't let you take his picture. Frankly, I'm on his side. I think i'd run from you too.

hmmmmmmmmm a lot of angst here... It seems to me that the fans of Mr. Welling have a point.... and I am talking about the ones right here on this blog... not about the other millions out there that also are fans... I truly wonder what you would do if you were in his shoes and time after time you had to stop and smile and write something....
I wonder just how long you would keep that up.... the reason of my wondering is simply.... your acusations of a person that you really don't know... you are not his friend or buddy... I have met many in this business and everyone has their own *style* ... no one can change that and no one really wants to... so if Mr. Welling is the type who shuns publicity that is not intended... so be it... it does not reflect on his personality... as far as crew comments... in this business, you will always find someone who doesn't like your looks, what you say, how you talk, walk and eat.... that is show business.... there will always be someone who wants to bring you down to their level... call it jealousy, envy.. what ever.... it happens and not just in the buisness... it is out there everyday in everyway for all... so you need to ask yourself.... is there somewhere in yourself that has an envy of the man? I was an extra/walk-on on Smallville, Tom really is a jerk, if you speak to him without his permission you will be escorted off the set.
If an extra flubbs a line or scene, Welling goes into histronics and starts kicking things.
He actually yelled at a little kid because she looked at the camera during a street scene. (she cried and was replaced).

ExtraVille, I have a few actors in my family, some very well known, others not. An extra/ walk on usually is someone with no lines whatsoever. They are to blend in the background and not cost money beyond pay (very small) that they get to be part of the unknown population. If you stop to talk to him, you cost them valuable money. Surely you were told what to do and what not to do? Like interrupt what is going on by trying to talk to the stars and get signatures or pictures. I would almost wager you're assuming or heard gossip that Tom Welling did all that.If he was such a pr*ck, I'm sure it would have gotten out.

He has the right to his privacy. When he first got married, I read some unsavory things people had to say about his wife, that she was unattractive, etc. I have read that he guards his private life with his wife so they can lead normal lives when he is not shooting. He ran into a fan in New York (it was filmed by a regular Joe, not paparazzi. The girl told him it was her birthday. He stopped for a quick chat, wished her happy birthday, speaking in a normal tone of voice, smiling, gave her a hug, had pictures taken, and made her day. What a jerk he is! I bet if we stared at you long enough, we'd be able to call you a jerk too! You're assesment as an (ahem) extra/ walkon, for all of the very short while you were one, I am sure gave you the inside scoop (NOT) on Tom Welling!

See here's the problem with the statement above....unless you are willing to sign your name and own up to what you claim you witnessed---then your accusation has no credibliity. Anyone can come on a message board and just talk shit about someone. If you're going to accuse someone of doing something like that and you want to be taken seriously then sign your name, tell us what episode you worked on and be specific about what happened. Because coming on to a random blog and bashing him anonymously doesn't give you any credibility. That's why blogs and message boards in general aren't legitimate sources of information unless they provide a source.

There have been just as many extras who now have twitter accounts who have raved about what an amazing time they've had on the Smallville set and how much they like working with the entire crew.

The photograph that writes this blog makes money off of people's autographs and pictures. Therefore, he is already a biased source. Tom isn't giving him what he wants so that he can turn a profit. The photographer isn't capable of looking at this objectively---he has money at stake. Personally, I find the entire papparazzi business (and don't kid yourself by saying that you're just an autograph hound. You stalk celebrities so that you can sell their pictures and autographs--that makes you papparazzi) to be pretty creepy.

No one on here knows Tom Welling. (And that includes the Extra that posted above.) Only the people that really know him know what he's truly like and those of us that don't should probably keep our mouths shut.

You know what maybe Tom isn't who we think he is but that's neither here nor there. What we appreciate is the way he portrays Clark Kent on Smallville. He shows him as compassionate, caring, tender, generous, loving, and kind. I don't want to believe that some of these same traits are not present to a certain extent in Tom and if they aren't all I have to say is he's one hell of an actor.

I don't know Tom Welling, but I will say this:

If he's at the airport waiting to board his plane and 4 people want to get his autograph or get a picture with him, would it kill him to be kind and comply? I can understand wanting privacy, which he has been successful in getting by not doing interviews or appearing in the Hollywood club-going set, but it's just a photograph/autograph!

Really, let's be honest here -- he's not Brad Pitt (super famous) and he's not Russell Crowe (famous and talented). Tom's lucky that he was born good looking and lucky he was discovered by a model scout and lucky that he fit the physical profile of "Clark Kent". Seriously, I think there's no real danger that Tom Welling would get swamped with fans in random locations where he's recognized -- he's really only in the "handful of fans" category at the airport or any other public place.

Be kind, dude, and sign the occasional autograph and take the occasional picture without having a panic attack.

This is why Tom doesn't want to be famous, we are all so strongly opinionated about him and none of us in here actually no him. Maybe Tom has moments when he's a jerk, he is human.

to Extra:
You just sound upset about the fact that he had the attention on set and you didn't. You were an extra, the cast and crew didn't even know your name. Tom plays the main character so he has to right to have the attention. He leads the show and is very important on the set. With out him the show wouldn't be what it is.

We should keep in mind that we aren't Tom's friends or family. We are either a fan or aren't. None of us no him or what he is like, we have only heard things about him. We shouldn't judge.

All I can say is sweet things about Tom because when I met him he was the sweetest guy to me gave me a hug, a personalized picture and even took a picture with me in which he displayed his beatufiul pearly whites. I believe it all depends on the situation, the mood or the fans themselves.

I find all of this rather confusing. Granted some people just avoid cameras and fans.. Its a fact of life.. How he really is, I have no idea.. People are People.. Never going to meet every ones expectations. But, the confusing part to me, I take it his plane was coming from the US to Canada, is this correct? And you mentioned that his gf was picking him up? Did you see the gf? Since, he normally resides in LA with his wife? Why would he be returning to Canada? And she be in Canada waiting for him?

I'm closing comments on this post because honestly, the post is now 4 years old.

In the past year or so since I last added comments into this thread, I've received 42 other comments. Not a single 1 was original, or brought a point up that I felt was worth re-opening this debate. You've all said your theories on why you think I'm wrong, or right.

At the end of the day, its MY blog. So I will have the final say on this matter.

Tom Welling isn't a nice guy. Plain & simple. That 30 seconds where he was nice to you at a press event does not count.

Neither does the fact you saw him on the street walking by waved at him & he nodded at you. Rude jerks can have temporary moments of being personable. But encounter him enough times, you'll see the real Tom Welling.

Neither you or I know him. When you say "hes just a really private guy" you are talking out of your ass. The guy decided to be an underwear model, then a TV actor.
People who want their privacy DONT do either of those professions. He wants the stardom, he just wants the good parts like the money, women & notoriety. It doesn't work like that.

So NO, you are fucking dead wrong when you claim hes just a really private person...because really private people don't become TV stars, they work generic anonymous jobs. he could have done THEATRE and I would have accepted he wants his privacy. But he didn't.

"I" don't know Tom Welling either. But I do know actors, and I have encountered him personally enough times to compare him to the 1000s of others I have encountered enough to say he is a jerk. Plain & simple. Hes not the BIGGEST jerk, just a more than usual jerk. This also has nothing to do with whether or not he snubbed me for an autograph, because he has signed for me, and I've seen nice guys not sign for me. That doesn't make or break it to me. It also has nothing to do with that fact hes abad actor. There are great actors I think are jerks, there are terrible actors I think are great people. Look at my best & worst lists to see that.
