THIS BLOG POST IS FOR "ARROW" SEASON EPISODE 409 "Elseworlds" AND MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE EPISODE.
If you have not seen the episode, and do not want to see or read possible spoilers about it prior to seeing it, do not continue reading the article or viewing the photos below. . . . last warning . . A little different reminder than I usually post. ALL OF THE PHOTOS IN THIS POST are not my property. If you plan to re-post them, you should credit the sources I list below. As October got under way, so did the annual DC TV universe crossover event that they have done for the past few seasons. This year, only 3 of their 4 shows are taking part, with Legends Of Tomorrow taking a pass on this one. Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up for the event. This past week, they filmed several scenes in Vancou... errrr... I mean CHICAGO???? for the "Arrow" part. You are not hallucinating. The producers for Arrow were eager to get that original Gotham look that has become ingrained in our memory from the Dark Knight era. Christopher Nolan filmed Batman Begins and The Dark Knight movies there, and Arrow wanted to capture that feeling for their portion of the cross over. The episode is being directed by Arrows original stunt coordinator, and frequent director of their episodes now, James Bamford. As seen in the photos below, there wasnt a lot to be reported. We know that Stephen Amell, Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist were definitely on set, as they were seen there by photographer Rob Olewinski at cmraseye.com in the photos below. They also got a couple cool photos of the inside of the set as well. But at this time, no other cast were reported there, either thru the fan photos, or behind the scene shots from cast. A lot of people feel new Batwoman Ruby Rose would be there since the scenes are in Gotham, but at this time, there has been no confirmation she was there. Not to be outdone, a couple photos from fans showed some of the exterior of the set & a meeting with Grant on the set. First we see a photo with Grant Gustin meeting with twitter user @wtvrashley on the set.
Next is a set of photos from twitter user @xavportela. The most interesting photo, is the mystery actor standing under the GCPD sign.
Could this be a background person? Or a new cast member added for this cross over we haven't heard of yet?
Lastly, a few photos from some twitter user called @StephenAmell ??
Of course many fans have jumped to the most conclusions for the photo he posted with former Arrow star Colin Donnell. While it is not unheard of for Tommy Merlyn to make surprise cameos on Arrow over the years, I suspect based on his attire, he was just there visiting his old cast mate Stephen. Colin is on a show called Chicago Med now, and as you can guess by the title, it films in Chicago.... so this wasn't too out of his way to come by and say hi. Of course.... perhaps this photo IS of a returning Tommy... or some alternate Tommy. Guess we will all have to wait and see on that one. The other photos feature Melissa & Grant just sitting around waiting to work at the set one night. While the last one shows Stephen lurking over Grants shoulder on the set. — Stephen Amell (@StephenAmell) November 2, 2018
Of course, as I stated earlier above these twitter posts, another user got several photos from the set... but only seemed to get a couple with actors in them as he said he was encouraged to leave shortly after. But he probably had the best shots of any non-crew person.
You can see a few of them in the gallery below. You can also find his whole set on his flickr page. Also credit to @Filming_Chicago for all the work there keeping people updated on filming. I found all of the links to these photos through their work posting them. You can find a few other set photos from the Arrow shoot there if you dig through their feed. I just didn't have the time to link to every post I could find. The former network that carried them, CTV, now has none of them for some reason. So uhhh, I guess good luck with watching it.

If you have not seen the episode, and do not want to see or read possible spoilers about it prior to seeing it, do not continue reading the article or viewing the photos below. . . . last warning . . A reminder... if you are going to post photos from this on your social media/website INCLUDE THE LINK TO THE POST with it...and don't use all of them. A maximum of FOUR (4) photos please. Plus, PROPERLY credit the source(s). As October got under way, so did the annual DC TV universe crossover event that they have done for the past few seasons. This year, only 3 of their 4 shows are taking part, with Legends Of Tomorrow taking a pass on this one. Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up for the event. On this particular day, they filmed several scenes in downtown Vancouver for the "Arrow" part of the crossover. I didn't see any of the early day filming as I just plain slept in. But I eventually got up, went down, got an autograph for someone who asked me to get something done for them them other night, from Arrow star Stephen Amell as he headed to his trailer for lunch break. I quite literally spent 3 whole seconds there to get that done.... and with that, I felt like "mission accomplished" and left fully aware they weren't going to be there after lunch. Little did I know, all they were doing was moving 2 or 3 blocks away. While I was at home, I saw a tweet from Stephen showing him on set with Grant Gustin, Melissa Benoist AND The Flash recurring guest star & the 1990s Flash, John Wesley Shipp. So I raced back out of the house to go find them. When I got to set, I was shocked at the effort they were going thru to try and cover things up. They even were trying to cover STEPHEN in the Flash suit up... I mean hey, we've already seen him in a promo photo, his own tweets, and 2 days of set photos from The Flash shooting, but sure, yeah, work hard to cover that "spoiler". As the day went on, I saw them also trying to cover up (thank you twitter user @marysocontrary2 for telling me who it was, as I had him down as "unknown actor when I first published this) Lamonica Garrett who was cast as The Monitor. He was wearing large golden boots, and was wearing a costume of some type. The crew were so put out that I got some photos of him, they had a cop come and talk to me, at length for awhile in hopes of trying to get rid of me. After some early tension between us, we eventually got to chatting for quite a while. I get he had a job to do and had to investigate the claim from the crew, and in the end, he understood I had something I was trying to do as well. When the shoot ended, Melissa left first, with her security guard and crew member escorting her away past everyone. Shortly after Grant came by, and took photo with the fans there still in his Arrow make up & some of the costume. Then came Stephen. The other night I had asked Stephen if I could get a photo with him in the costume since I already have Grant in The Flash costume, and he said sure.... so today he honoured his promise, and despite having the suit 1/2 off already, re-suited up to take a photo with me, then did so for a couple other fans. John Wesley Shipp then was leaving, and he too after some uncertainty of how to do it (his mask was pulled down in front of his face covering half of it), took photos with fans in his Flash uniform as well.... which for the record looks SO velvety (if that's a word) in person. After that, I left as it was clear they were finishing for the evening. On this particular day, they filmed several scenes in downtown Vancouver for the "Supergirl" part of the crossover. Funny enough, with no main Supergirl cast, and only 1 of the 4 scenes shot even had a Supergirl guest star in it. Tyler Hoechlin was seen on set, and as Stephen Amell showed in a tweet yesterday, Superman has some new threads for this crossover event. Lucky Stephen was willing to share with you all, because when Tyler was down on ground level (they were filming on top of a parkade) he was more modest about showing off his new duds. Covering up the Man Of Steel outfit as much as he could.I managed a few photos that JUST catches the top of the logo before he covered up even more. There were two other scenes shot during the day that I didn't get any photos of the cast at. One in Oceanic Plaza, which is used by EVERYONE at some point, they had a scene where a group of spectators were watching something happen in the sky, but no actors were there for it. Then after the roof top scene, was a scene in an alley where they were using a drone to film... something? Whatever it was, it wasn't actors, I can tell you that much. A bit later I caught up with Stephen and Grant Gustin filming at a different location. While I had seen both of them at the roof top location, it was only for brief moments as they wanted to & from the set from their trailers. Grant once, noticed me there taking photos, and waved, then showed off his new attire, trying to put on a bad boy sneer with it. Of course, since I wasn't given prior warning to his plans, I both missed the wave, and him flaunting the wardrobe off to me, as I had started shooting too late to catch the wave, and ended too soon to catch the showing off in its entirety. At the other location Stephen, as Oliver Queen. Grant as Barry Allen, both shot a scene where the pair stormed down a street together, running into an apartment building before getting into an altercation inside the building. The pair were both dressed like boyband members pretending to be hoodlums. They had jackets on that said "Trigger Twins" on them. All I could think when I heard the term was how often triggered is used on the internet, and wondered, are Barry & Oliver internet vigilantes? But in all seriousness, the pair shot this series of scenes there, before they took a break. When they went on their break, I left, because I really didn't think anything more special would be happening. Sometimes I get this wrong... this was 1 of those rare occurrences. Barely after I got home & took my shoes off, I got a DM from a twitter user that was there @themyscirabound telling me Stephen showed back up, in full GREEN ARROW wardrobe. I asked Themyscirabound if she felt like sending me a couple photos to put in this post, and she agreed, so if you use any of the photos of Stephen in the Green Arrow attire below, credit HER. A reminder I didn't think I had to post since its stated on the side of the page... but if you are going to post photos from this INCLUDE THE LINK TO THE POST with it...and don't use all of them. A maximum of FOUR (4) photos please. As April winds down most TV shows film their season finales, and The CW superhero series Arrow was no different. I will post this BEFORE I get into describing what I saw (and in a rare departure for me... I will also comment on what I am aware of that I didnt see shot). I am going to state that I was simply going to post the photos, and let you, the audience try and decide the context. HOWEVER, after a crew member on set purposefully tried to prevent me from taking photos AFTER him & I had reached an agreement on when to shoot & when not to with an RCMP officer witnessing the entire conversation. My respect for a crew that I have found over the last two seasons to be more & more aggressive, bordering on abusive a couple times is done. So as you will see in the shots below, Arrow filmed a scene at the "Star City Metro" Police Department at Burnaby City Hall. It had Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Jack Moore as William Clayton, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak and Sydelle Noel as FBI Agent Samandra Watson, as well as a handful media, generic FBI & U.S. Marshal members. The scene played out with the FBI leading Oliver out in handcuffs, with awaiting media there. Oliver makes a brief statement, before being hauled away while William & Felicity follow behind. After that scene, which was Emilys last scene of the season, the crew moved to a different part of Burnaby City Hall to film more scenes. This scene was interesting to me for a couple reasons, since I know in episode 22 Oliver "makes a deal" with the Feds.... so why the big dramatics in ep 23? As I said, the crew were being uncooperative with me, even after an agreement had been reached, so there was very little for me to shoot. The 8 photos you see below, are really the best there was of the 21 photos I managed to take in total (those of you who have followed my blog for awhile know its rare I even have sets I post HERE under 21 photos.... so to only have take 21 total is a sign of how difficult this location was). Later that night, they shot a couple more scenes. Nothing as juicy as that first one. But one was a pretty epic scene for the fact of who was in it. Stephen shot his last scene of the season, with an actor that I do believe is leaving the show permanently based on things I know now. He shot a scene with Paul Blackthorne where Quentin Lance was talking to Diaz while Oliver watched. Of course the suspicion has been for awhile that Quentin might be getting the big send off due to the fact the show has to cut little meat from the bones for the re-negotiations of the cast for season 7. I can NOT say for sure that he was killed off, but by Stephens cryptic tweet, as well as Pauls curious instagram post, and the fact Caity Lotz flew in to film 1 day of work in "hospital" setting for 2 scenes... things dont look good for the current Mayor. Also, as a random side detail. I ran into 2 cast from the show at the movies the same night I shot that set. I congratulated them on a season 7, and asked 1 (I was assuming the other would be) of them if he was coming back, and he said "yes". That makes me believe NTA (New Team Arrow... the team name given to Curtis/Mister Terrific, Rene/Wid Dog & Dinah/Black Canary by the fandom for those of you not up to date on all of that.) will be back in season 7 in some capacity. A little over a week ago, I caught up to the Arrow cast & crew shooting scenes for episode 621 in front of the Vancouver Courthouse. As you may have already read in my prior post, they shot scenes later in the day with some very well hidden, partially top soecret cast. But earlier in the day, there was another shoot around the side of the building from that scene. Arrow shot scenes on the stairs of the Vancouver Art Gallery on their Robson Street side early in the day before many people were really up & about. The scenes started off with Kirk Acevedo as Ricardo Diaz walking out of the Star City Courthouse greeted by his driver/bodyguard & walks to his vehicle. A bit later they shot scenes of the stunt team, with former B.C. Lions star Tommy Europe as John Diggle, Ivett Gonda as Dinah Drake and Shawn Robidoux as Diaz, doing scenes where Diggle & Dinah rough up Diaz and his driver before Diggle has a chat with him. Then they shot scenes with David Ramsey & Juliana Harkavy on set with Kirk Acevedo. The scene mostly centred on Diggle grabbing Diaz, shoving him up against his truck and having a very unfriendly chat with him while Dinah looks on.... but that ends abruptly when officers from the courthouse & the SCPD come out with guns drawn and face them at Diggle.. Diaz smugly gets into his vehicle, and leaves with Diggle & Dinah standing around in disappointment while he drives away. As those who saw the first blog post might have clued in to already, it seems based on this scene as well, John Diggle has taken up working with New Team Arrow as he did a scene with Dinah Drake, and later with Wild Dog where he was working with them. With Oliver still in court in this episode, it makes some sense that if Dig is going to turn to anyone for help with anything, it would be NTA, but up till the airing of tonights episode.... there was no sign that was going to happen at all. The last we had seen, NTA was still not welcoming of Diggle. So it will be interesting to see when those fences get mended, and how. I may have a short video of this that I might post later when I have more time. So check back later to see if its been added. If you have not seen the episode, and do not want to see or read possible spoilers about it prior to seeing it, do not continue reading the article or viewing the photos below. . . . last warning . . A couple weeks ago, I was at the airport scouting for someone coming in when I stumbled across a different person coming in than I was expecting. A driver for Arrow picked up someone I hadnt seen her in awhile (in fact when I first saw him I couldnt quite figure out who it was.... but after passing the info off to someone else, got the answer later). Arrow had summoned the master of disguise Christopher Chance to return to Star City. Will Traval had come back in to Vancouver to reprise his character as the Human Target that was in 1 episode of season 5 when he pretended to be Oliver Queen. Earlier this month I caught Arrow out and about at the Vancouver Art Gallery. This was a VERY unusual shoot for a TV show on a network show. While the shoot they did earlier in the day was very by the book, this one was nothing short of odd. First was the fact that the crew scurried around with a handful of umbrellas trying to protect the identity of two people in the scene. ... and not even main cast. They were so aggressive doing it, that on multiple counts they had so many umbrellas in the actors way, the actors were forced to look at the ground just to see where they were walking. They were forcing the actors to even wear big puffy winter jackets....inside the transportation vans. It was quite literally, an overkill that you wouldnt even see on the most protective film sets. To their credit, they prevented me from getting any really great shots of the two guests that were on set. Of course, already knowing who one was, all I really was trying to figure out was who was the 2nd one. As I posted on twitter, I really didnt get a great shot of her. Just a breif fuzzy shot of her in her mask sitting in her transportation vehicle. At this time, I still havent heard who it is. I will revise this if/when its solved. A funnier part was, they let the shows two actual main cast walk through the courtyard of the art gallery unprotected, and simply let them fend for themselves..... until they got to the actual location of the set, then they tried to cover them up too. It was, like I said, a really bizarre situation. I have to wonder how annoyed the actors must have been, having to try and focus on their jobs, and play these absurd games that the crew wanted them to partake in. Cant imagine they were thrilled about having to wear big oversized jackets inside a van for 1/2 an hour to an hour JUST so someone might not see them. Or having to go to & from their location with a mob of umbrellas around them. Sure hope this didnt affect their focus on their work. When they finally DID start shooting, the scene was pretty simple. A Star City Police van driven by David Ramsey as John Diggle, with Rick Gonzalez as Rene Ramirez in the back drove down the street with the two mystery people (Traval and masked girl) buried so deep in the back, I never actually saw them in any of the photos I took.... despite the fact I physically saw them get IN the van. If someone with better eyes than me sees someone in there, feel free to point it out to me and I will see if I can find a frame with a clearer shot of them. The interesting take away from this scene that a lot of big Arrow fans might notice, Diggle working with a member of New Team Arrow. There will be even more on that in my next blog from this shoot about a scene that was shot earlier in the day of this shoot. Last month I caught Arrow out and about shortly before they went on Holiday break in the downtown eastside/Gastown area of Vancouver. Below are photos & video of the scene being shot. The scene they were shooting on this day was pretty basic, with no dialogue happening. It simply had Team Arrow member Quentin Lance (played by Paul Blackthorne) walking along a street looking at his phone, being followed by earth 2 Laurel Lance, aka Black Siren (played by Katie Cassidy). The scene played out with Quentin walking along, at 1 point he seems to hold his phone over his shoulder as if trying to see who is behind him, but whether or not he sees the doppleganger of his late daughter is unsure, as Laurel hastily runs for cover when she notices. Immediately after she hides, an SCPD cruiser goes by as well with its lights on. Is Quentin trying to trap Laurel, or Laurel trying to trap Quentin? I guess we will need to wait a few more weeks to find out for certain. This also was important in that this was the first public shoot Katie Cassidy had done after the death of her own real life father two weeks earlier. While during a short break, I managed to get a couple autographs from Katie, and I passed along my condolences to her, and she thanked me for stating so.
