Apologies in advance for how grainy/fuzzy a few of the pics are. It was a relatively new camera at the time and I still was learning some of the settings, and apparently had something set on it that was not optimal. In early April, Once Upon A Time wrapped their 4th season. One of their last days of filming was on location in Steveston, which is their often used location for part of downtown Storybrooke. On this day they shot a couple scenes through out the day. starting in the early morning. A scene was shot which had several of the cast members laying on the ground including Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Timothy Webber and possibly Sean Maguire from what I could see. There may have been more that were out of view from me. Also in the scene was Jared Gilmore, but he seemed to be standing through it all. What happened in the scene, I don't really know. Out of context, it really didn't make much sense to me, or others watching. Scenes often don't, but some of the time you can piece together what the general idea is...this was not one of those times. After they shot that scene, the actors for the night scenes came out, did a quick read thru/rehearsal for the scene before heading back to their trailers to wait for night fall. After they wrapped the daytime scene, they took a long break as they waited for the sun to set to shoot night scenes in the middle of downtown Steveston. The night scenes consisted of Sean Maguire, Lana Parrilla, Colin O'Donogue, Jennifer Morrison, Josh Dallas and Ginnifer Goodwin shooting scenes in the middle of the street. The scene appears to have some type of magic involved as the Regina Mills is frozen in the middle of the road, restrained by some unseen force. Robin Hood tries to rescue her, but is sent away by the "force". Eventually Emma comes in with Rumplestiltstins dagger and does her best He-Man impersonation which seemingly releases Regina from the mystery grip, and causes Emma to apparently vanish. Captain Hook looks on while Emma holds the dagger up and seemingly tries to convince her to not do whatever it is shes doing. Off to the side Snow White & Prince Charming stand in shock & horror as they watch all of this take place. With this shoot being their last run in Steveston for the season most of the cast were quite good about coming over at 1 point or another to meet fans & sign autographs. Lana, Jennifer, Colin, Josh and Sean all met with the fans at different times throughout the night. Once Upon A Time is nominated for May Madness, which is going on right now. This post contains photos and a brief description of scenes for filming of episode 416 of "Once Upon A Time". If you do not want to read or view possible spoilers prior to seeing the episode. Do not continue reading the article or viewing the photos. . . . last warning . . Back on January 20th I caught up with the cast & crew of Once Upon A Time filming in downtown Steveston. I missed a large chink of the filming from earlier in the day, but got there for the last couple locations. First up was a scene that had just Jennifer Morrison in it. The scene had her character Emma Swan run out into the middle of the street (seriously, the amount of times I see someone in Storybrooke just out randomly in the middle of the street is concerning. How are there not more accidental hit & runs?) and she clearly sees something upsetting. There was a couple takes prior to the scene where she seemed to be reacting to something that forced her to the ground...but I don't know what that was about since she never seemed to do it without her winter jacket on. Later, they moved to the dock and had a scene where Jennifer & Colin O'Donoghue shot a scene as Emma & Captain Hook sharing a hug. The body language of the scene did not come across as an excited, happy to see you hug, but more of a sympathetic, "it will be ok" type hug. Once Upon A Time returns tonight Sunday March 1, 2015 to ABC in the U.S. and to CTV in Canada. To view more behind the scene OUAT blog posts, check HERE. If you have not seen this episode and do not want to read or see possible spoilers from the episode, do not continue. . . . last warning . . Back in November I caught the cast & crew of the ABC fantasy series Once Upon A Time shooting in Steveston for episode 412. Like many trips to Steveston, the crew squeezed in as many scenes as they could to the small fishing village that stands in for Storybrooke, Maine. With so many scenes set for the day, once again I saw many different cast throughout the day. When I first got there, I saw Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Ginnifer Goodwin, Colin O'Donoghue & Emilie de Ravin shooting scenes in the middle of Monctor Street (aka - Main street in Storybrooke). The scene had Regina & Emma run towards something, then Hook, Mary & Belle come up behind shortly after. In between takes the women eagerly grabbed their winter jackets to keep warm as Steveston has a reputation for being several degrees cooler than most other places in the Lower Mainland, while Colin seemingly seemed ok in his Hook attire. They continued filming with these 5 in the middle of the street before moving on to more scenes. Then the crew moved on to scenes where Lana & Jared Gilmore shoot a quick scene that seems to show Henry getting ready to go to school (seriously, does this kid ever actually go to school anymore? Also, who is teaching the kids?? Mary seems busy with other things). Next up was a scene where Jennifer drives down a street in the yellow Volkswagen Beetle that everyone knows as Emma Swan's car. Her passenger.... none other than Regina. A little later, there was a scene next to Mr. Golds with Colin & Jen where they exchange a couple quick words, a quick hug/kiss and proceed along the sidewalk with their arms around each other. At the time I thought I had found a great spot to sneak pics of this scene.... only to find out when I walked around where the crowd was watching from they had a pretty good view of the scene as well. Finally, scenes were done after it got dark in the middle of Moncton Street with Robert Carlyle and 2 cast members I had never seen prior to that moment. Victoria Smurfit & Merrin Dungey. Of course there has been plenty of news since this scene was shot about the 3 big bads of the back end of season 4 being Kristin Bauer van Straten as Maleficent, Smurfit as Cruella De Vil and Dungey as Ursula.... but at that time, no one really knew who Dungey was yet except for a couple fans that recognized her instantly.
The scene showed Cruella, Ursula and Mr. Gold walking aright down the middle of Main street talking and part or all of the topic of conversation seemed to be about Regina from what I could make out from snippets of conversation during the takes. Once Upon A Time returns NEXT WEEK, Sunday March 1st on ABC in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada. Every year I have a dilemma. Blog materials that I just don't get used up in time. Whether its because of scheduling, or because something better pushes it back, there are some blogs that never get posted because once the episode airs, the viewership on them drops substantially. Another problem that I have, which seems to be uniquely a Once Upon A Time problem is, getting too many blogs worth of material from 1 shoot. Since the crew try to squeeze in 2 or 3 or 4 days worth of scenes into 1 day so as to not continually inconvenience the area with their filming when they are on location in Steveston, this often leads to several sets of photos of different scenes, and thus a backlog of sets from the show at once. So what happens is I will usually post 1 or 2 sets quickly, and the other sets get forgotten for awhile, or all together. This happened again this year with several sets from OUAT that I have already wasted because the episodes have already aired and, while SOME of you may still like to see the pics, the mass majority don't care & thus making a blog post for a couple hundred views, for the effort it takes, is time wise, not worth it. This brings us to THIS blog post, about material for episode 409 which obviously has long since passed. Since you have seen the episode already, I will simply say. The pics below include director Mario Van Peebles, Jennifer Morrison, Scott Michael Foster, Elizabeth Lail, Georgina Haig, Robert Carlyle, Colin O'Donoghue & Emilie de Ravin in varions scenes through out the day. Once Upon A Time is up for several 2014 Best Of TV Awards, voting on the Finals is going on right now thru till the 3rd week of January, 2015 HERE. Better late than never? Here are some pics of Once Upon A Time shooting a scene for episode 401, including where Grumpy yells the line about there being an "evil snowman, run" I had so many photos from that shoot that these just got lost in the backlog of a multitude of other posts that others asked for 1st. So, hope you enjoy these shots of Lee Arenberg as Leroy, Faustino Di Bauda as Walter, Colin O'Donoghue as Killian, Jennifer Morrison as Emma and Josh Dallas as David encountering the massive snowman that Elsa unleashed on Storybrooke in the season premiere. THIS POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR EPISODES 401,403 AND 404 OF "ONCE UPON A TIME". If you do not want to read or see possible spoilers from those episodes prior to their airing...please do not continue. . . . last warning . The 4th season of the hit ABC fantasy drama "Once Upon A Time" premieres tomorrow night on ABC. This season is going to feature a 9 episode story arc centred around the hit Disney billion dollar movie "Frozen". They have cast several characters from the movie for this story arc, and I was the 1st person to post photos of Elizabeth Mitchell on set, and the 1st to post a pic of Georgina Haig filming a scene back when they filmed in Steveston a couple months ago. Also cast in the arc are Elizabeth Lail as Anna and Scott Michael Foster as Kristoff. Georgina Haig, formerly from "Fringe" has been cast as Queen Elsa. She did scenes throughout a 2 day shoot with Colin O'Donoghue as Captain Hook & Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, but for the mostpart did just solo scenes. Some of the other scenes shot over the 2 days were reactionary scenes to the arrival of the Elsa character, including some with Faustino Di Bauda, Lee Arenberg and Josh Dallas. Georgina did 1 night shoot scene where we see her at Mr. Gold's pawn shop. What could she be looking for in there? That will be a mystery we wont know the answer to till the season begins. I caught up with Georgina twice over the 2 day shoot. The 1st time as she was leaving the set earlier in the day on day 1. She sat in her transportation vehicle & willingly signed for the 1/2 dozen people there before being Driven off. The second time was after the end of day 2. I called out to her as she prepared to leave set after shooting her night scene. She did not hesitate to come over to the couple dozen fans still waiting around at 1:30 AMish She signed autographs, and took a couple photos with fans in her Elsa dress (partially covered by a jacket). A few weeks later, back in Steveston, the arrival of another Frozen character was seen as Elizabeth Mitchell shot scenes. Her character is The Snow Queen, who we first see filming scenes as the proprietor of a sundae shop called "Any Given Sundae" while Lee Arenberg, Beverley Elliott and Raphael Sbarge go storming by her. My next trip out to Steveston a week later after seeing her dressed as a shop owner, we see her, in full Snow Queen garb being chased thru the streets and alleys of Storybrooke by the towns Sheriff, and former bounty hunter Emma.
Once Upon A Time will run with the Frozen theme for 9 episodes to start season 4, then it will be gone. The 1st of these episodes airs tomorrow night September 28, 2014 on ABC in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada. If you DO NOT want to read or view any potential spoilers from that episode prior to viewing it, do not continue reading or viewing this post. . . . last warning . . Once Upon A Time filmed scenes in Steveston on Tuesday for episode 403. I will have a more in depth break down of the scenes, and more photos for some of the scenes later on this week/month. For now though, here is a few pics from each scene, and a list of who shot scenes on the day. 1st scene - Sean Maguire (Robin Hood) - Christie Laing (Maid Marian) - Raphael Alejandro (Roland) 2nd scene - ELIZABETH MITCHELL (in her 1st public scene) - Lee Arenberg (Leroy) - Raphael Sbarge (Dr. Archie Hopper) - Beverley Elliott (Granny) 3rd scene - Josh Dallas (David Nolan) - Jennifer Morrison (Emma Swan) - Michael Socha (Knave Of Hearts) 4th scene - Ginnifer Goodwin (Mary Margaret Blanchard) - Raphael Sbarge (Dr. Hopper) 5th scene - Georgina Haig (Elsa) - Colin O'Donoghue (Captain Hook) 6th scene - Jennifer Morrison (Emma) - Colin O'Donoghue (Hook) NOT on set of note - Robert Carlyle, Emilie de Ravin, Lana Parrilla, Jared Gilmore, Elizabeth Lail or Scott Michael Foster As with all my blog posts. Feel free to use the photos elsewhere, long as you DO NOT remove the watermarks and credit back to this site. I watermarked the night scene pics a bit harsher than others because the last time I had Captain Swan pics of note... a large handful of fans disrespected the faint watermarks I usually use, and removed them and re-posted them as their own content.... which resulted in 54 DMCA take down notices issued to 5 sites. So now those pics will be treated with a bit thicker watermark. Blame them. |
