Once Upon A Time shoots scenes for episode 612 with Lana Parrilla, Sean Maguire and Will Traval12/14/2016  THIS BLOG POST IS FOR "ONCE UPON A TIME" EPISODE 612. If you have not seen this episode and do not want to see or read about possible spoilers, do not continue reading or viewing the photos. . . . last warning . . As I stated in my other blog post with that big spoiler, there was also a scene shot on November 11, 2016 with some other cast. Most notably the return of Sean Maguire as Robin Hood (which his return to the show of course, isnt a spoiler since everyone already knows this) to Steveston for a shoot, that also included Lana Parrilla as Regina Mills and Will Traval as "Keith" (Sheriff Of Nottingham). They first showed up to do a rehearsal for the scene. Sean & Will arrived together, and worked thru their part of the scene, then with Lana arriving awhile later dressed like she was enduring a real Canadian winter day, even though it was about 10-12C out... I cant even imagine how she must be dressing THIS week, with temperatures at night dipping down to -10. After rehearsals, they left to get ready for their shoot. After a lunch break, the cast came back to shoot the scene. They broke it down into various sections, but the scene essentially plays out like this. Keith walks down the street, Robin sees him and shoots an arrow at him. Not sure if it hits Keith, or he catches it, but that doesnt stop Robin who then storms across the street and punches out Keith with 1 punch. Keith goes down and Robin attaks further, eventually getting ontop of him with a knife to his throat, he is about to kill Keith when Regina runs down the street to stop him. She tells him this isnt who he is, and Robin gets up, giving Keith a chance to flee and angrily argues with Regina, before the pair turn around and leave together down the street. Now I fully admit, I dont watch the show anymore. So I dont know what grudge Robin has with Keith, but his intention was to kill Keith before Regina intervened.                   During the start of the scene, Lana was often found standing around out of site of fans around a corner waiting to do her part.           Sean Maguire made his big return to Steveston with a front & centre spot in this scene as he was in every part of the scene. During breaks later in the afternoon, he constantly would look up as massive flocks of geese that were leaving town for the winter. They were quite noisy, but his reaction to them seemed more like someone thats never seen it before. I could have probably done an entire blog on various facial expressions of Sean on this day. I dont know if I have seen someone whos face portrays so many different looks in a day since maybe Joshua Jackson on the Fringe set. At the end of the shoot, Sean & will came over & spent several minutes with the fans, taking photos and signing autographs.                   Oh, right.... yeah, forgot. You Outlaw Queen fans probably wanted to see Lana & Sean together on set. Right? Theres a few pics of that too... Once Upon A Time airs Sunday nights on ABC in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada. They return for the 2nd half of season 6 March 2016. Once Upon A Time shoots scenes for their 100th episode in Steveston in November with lots of cast.3/5/2016  The 100th episode of Once Upon A Time airs this weekend on Sunday. The cast & crew were busy working on the episode back in November in Steveston. The episode titled "Souls Of The Departed" will be the 12th episode of the 5th season of the hit fantasy show. Directed by veteran OUAT director Ralph Hemecker, the 100th episode will see many returning faces to the show that fans will know like Michael Raymond James & Robbie Kay. Unfortunately... on this day of filming, none of them seemed to be around. With this part of the season taking part in the "underworld" things looked a bit different in Storybrooke (aka - Steveston). Large orange smoke stacks were along the street every 100 feet or so, and many of the identifiable parts of Storybrooke like Mr. Golds, the Library clock tower and even Emmas Bug seem to have fallen on hard times there. The first scene they shot on the day had Robert Carlyle going to Mr. Golds shop. It didnt last long, and didnt really reveal much of anything. Shortly after, they filmed a scene with Sean Maguire as Robin Hood and Lana Parrilla as Regina Mills walking together thru the streets of this slightly different looking Storybrooke. they are stopped, or stop to talk to a man that I was told by a production person had the character name "Black Tooth". I cant say what the scene really revealed except for a couple of the shops there were definitely different than the ones in Storybrooke. After they finished filming that scene, Sean and Lana went over to the middle of the street where the fallen clock tower laid, and posed for a photo in front of it so they could post it on their social media accounts later.                         A bit later in the day, A scene was shot with a large portion of the main cast walking together thru the streets looking at the carnage, and looking like they were preparing for a possible attack as the group carried bows & arrows and guns with them. Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas, Jennifer Morrison, and Jared Gilmore joined Carlyle, Parrilla and Maguire for this scene.                             Late last month, the cast and crew of the show celebrated their 100th episode milestone with an event in Steveston at the Cannery which the shows creator tweeted to fans to come & "see" the cast. Which technically they did.... of course, NONE of the cast came over and interacted with the fans because the ABC / Disney people there refused to allow it even when it appeared the cast were wanting to. After the party, many of the cast DID however stop for the very small group of fans that waited out there till slightly after 11 PM for the event to wrap up including former cast member & current iZombie star Rose McIver and most of the current cast including Colin O'Donoghue, Rebecca Mader and Sean Maguire who were the last actors to leave. The small village of Steveston in South Richmond was again transformed into Storybrooke for a day of filming for episode 1. The first scene I came across in downtown Steveston for the 1st day of shooting for Once Upon A Time season 5 in the town involved an odd sight. Granny's diner had been transformed into a beer garden. whether this is a temporary situation, or permanent was not yet known. More off, was Gabe Khouth as Sneezy wearing an Emma Swan style red jacket & driving the Sheriffs car. He shows up to what appears to be a ribbon cutting ceremony with several other dwarves in attendance including Faustino DiBauda, Mig Macario and maybe others.. I couldn't see the whole scene from where I was, but there was at least 3 or 4 of the dwarves there. Most notably missing was Lee Arenberg.        After that scene, the production moved 1/2 block down to an intersection. In the intersection they set up a scene with several cast members including Rebecca Mader, Sean Maguire, Lana Parrilla, Josh Dallas, Ginnifer Goodwin, Colin O'Donoghue, Emilie de Ravin and Jared Gilmore. In the scene, we see Lana as Regina Mills marching towards Rebecca and Sean as Zelena and Robin Hood. Regina is flanked by several of the locals, Hook, Mary & Dacid, Belle and Henry all follow her to the middle of the street. It seems that Zelena has robin captive somehow and demands a wand from Regina for the release of Robin. Regina does whats asked of her, and gives Zelana a wand. Robin is then let go & instantly taken in by Regina to their side of the battle. Zelena proudly waves the wand around, attempting perhaps to create magic or a spell? But its appears to be a fake. Zelena realizes it wont work, but before she can react, Regina moves in & puts a cuff around her arm and seemingly stops Zelena dead in her tracks. Once the cast did a couple rehearsals of it, they went back to their trailers & got into wardrobe for the actual filming.                      A little while later, the group returned to film the scene in their full wardrobes for the day. By that point, the crowds swelled well over 150 and at times, over 200 people, as the combination of the 1st shoot of the season and nice weather drew a larger than usual crowd. No surprise with the size of the crowd, none of the main cast came over to meet any fans at all this day. while the main cast is becoming less & less receptive of coming over in the past year or so, its rare that NONE of them do. Guess the absurdly large crowd was just too much for any of them to consider. It was a relatively new camera at the time and I still was learning some of the settings, and apparently had something set on it that was not optimal. In early April, Once Upon A Time wrapped their 4th season. One of their last days of filming was on location in Steveston, which is their often used location for part of downtown Storybrooke. On this day they shot a couple scenes through out the day. starting in the early morning. A scene was shot which had several of the cast members laying on the ground including Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Timothy Webber and possibly Sean Maguire from what I could see. There may have been more that were out of view from me. Also in the scene was Jared Gilmore, but he seemed to be standing through it all. What happened in the scene, I don't really know. Out of context, it really didn't make much sense to me, or others watching. Scenes often don't, but some of the time you can piece together what the general idea is...this was not one of those times. After they shot that scene, the actors for the night scenes came out, did a quick read thru/rehearsal for the scene before heading back to their trailers to wait for night fall.        After they wrapped the daytime scene, they took a long break as they waited for the sun to set to shoot night scenes in the middle of downtown Steveston. The night scenes consisted of Sean Maguire, Lana Parrilla, Colin O'Donogue, Jennifer Morrison, Josh Dallas and Ginnifer Goodwin shooting scenes in the middle of the street. The scene appears to have some type of magic involved as the Regina Mills is frozen in the middle of the road, restrained by some unseen force. Robin Hood tries to rescue her, but is sent away by the "force". Eventually Emma comes in with Rumplestiltstins dagger and does her best He-Man impersonation which seemingly releases Regina from the mystery grip, and causes Emma to apparently vanish. Captain Hook looks on while Emma holds the dagger up and seemingly tries to convince her to not do whatever it is shes doing. Off to the side Snow White & Prince Charming stand in shock & horror as they watch all of this take place. With this shoot being their last run in Steveston for the season most of the cast were quite good about coming over at 1 point or another to meet fans & sign autographs. Lana, Jennifer, Colin, Josh and Sean all met with the fans at different times throughout the night. Once Upon A Time is nominated for May Madness, which is going on right now. I watermarked the night scene pics a bit harsher than others because the last time I had Captain Swan pics of note... a large handful of fans disrespected the faint watermarks I usually use, and removed them and re-posted them as their own content.... which resulted in 54 DMCA take down notices issued to 5 sites. So now those pics will be treated with a bit thicker watermark. Blame them.                              The 4th season of the hit ABC fantasy drama "Once Upon A Time" has begun filming in and around Vancouver, BC, Canada. Last week I caught the cast & crew out working in Steveston, or as you know it "Storybrooke" for a 2 day shoot. There was several scenes filmed over those 2 days, and I got a LOT of pics, so I am having to divide up things into 5 blog posts on it...yes FIVE. There was just that much stuff. So there will be a blog post solely on the night shoots here. There is a blog post on Jennifer Morrison & Colin O'Donoghue working together (already posted HERE). There will be a blog post on Ginnifer Goodwin & Josh Dallas working together along with a variety of other cast. There will be a blog post solely committed to the 2 Dwarves I saw filming over those days, and anyone that crossed paths with them in the scenes. Finally, there will be a blog post solely on the newest character for season 4, from the hit movie "Frozen" Queen Elisa, played by "Fringe" alum Georgina Haig. After a quick opinion poll on twitter, you guys decided you wanted to see the night shoot pics next, so here it is... in all their grainy & sometimes slightly blurry goodness. Lets start off with a bit of baby time. The night scenes gave Josh Dallas and Ginnifer Goodwin a chance to shoot scenes with a baby (is it their own baby filling in for the role?). During breaks Ginnifer Goodwin would interact with some of the cast carrying the baby. I nabbed a couple pics of her interacting with Sean Maguire, while holding the baby.          The night shoots were hard to get much out of. The crew was being unreasonable, abusing their "power" (they have little to none...but the Richmond RCMP let them act like they did) so they had the fans actually standing SO FAR AWAY from where they were filming, there was literally nothing at all to be seen of the scene, from any of the angles where they were making everyone stand. Of course, I am not much for just accepting such absurd demands. So I did wander around, till I found a spot that helped me at least see part of the scene for awhile and helped me manage to get some shots of the scene. It was scenes with Marian (Christie Laing) out in Grannys Diners front yard yelling about what a monster Regina ( Lana Parrilla) is to a group of onlookers that included the Evil Queen herself. Robin Hood (Sean Maguire), Roland ( Raphael Alejandro) Captain Hook (Colin O'Donoghue), David & Mary (Josh Dallas and Ginnifer Goodwin ..as well as a baby), Emma (Jennifer Morrison), Henry (Jared Gilmore), Leroy & Walter (Lee Arenberg and Faustino Di Bauda) were all on set for these scenes at various points.                    A later scene saw Regina storm off throught the main street of Storybrooke after the altercation ended. What was the Evil Queens reaction to the verbal attack? Not too sure. The only audio that anyone could pick up was when Marian was yelling. All the scenes in the courtyard were partially or fully blocking most of the cast with crew, equipment and shrubbery. So there was not a lot that you could see at once. The 1st night, no cast came over to meet fans. Much to the chagrin of the couple dozen die hards that waited till 12:30 AM. But Lana Parrilla (on her birthday) did tell them she would be back there tomorrow. Sure enough, next night the majority of those that waited (some did not, because they waited near the barricades where they thought the security people would bring her over to) got to meet Lana when she stood around in front of the set and met with fans before security rushed her off while she was still talking and holding a fans hand.
