The 100th episode of Once Upon A Time airs this weekend on Sunday. The cast & crew were busy working on the episode back in November in Steveston. The episode titled "Souls Of The Departed" will be the 12th episode of the 5th season of the hit fantasy show. Directed by veteran OUAT director Ralph Hemecker, the 100th episode will see many returning faces to the show that fans will know like Michael Raymond James & Robbie Kay. Unfortunately... on this day of filming, none of them seemed to be around.
With this part of the season taking part in the "underworld" things looked a bit different in Storybrooke (aka - Steveston). Large orange smoke stacks were along the street every 100 feet or so, and many of the identifiable parts of Storybrooke like Mr. Golds, the Library clock tower and even Emmas Bug seem to have fallen on hard times there.
The first scene they shot on the day had Robert Carlyle going to Mr. Golds shop. It didnt last long, and didnt really reveal much of anything. Shortly after, they filmed a scene with Sean Maguire as Robin Hood and Lana Parrilla as Regina Mills walking together thru the streets of this slightly different looking Storybrooke. they are stopped, or stop to talk to a man that I was told by a production person had the character name "Black Tooth". I cant say what the scene really revealed except for a couple of the shops there were definitely different than the ones in Storybrooke. After they finished filming that scene, Sean and Lana went over to the middle of the street where the fallen clock tower laid, and posed for a photo in front of it so they could post it on their social media accounts later.
A bit later in the day, A scene was shot with a large portion of the main cast walking together thru the streets looking at the carnage, and looking like they were preparing for a possible attack as the group carried bows & arrows and guns with them. Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas, Jennifer Morrison, and Jared Gilmore joined Carlyle, Parrilla and Maguire for this scene.
Late last month, the cast and crew of the show celebrated their 100th episode milestone with an event in Steveston at the Cannery which the shows creator tweeted to fans to come & "see" the cast. Which technically they did.... of course, NONE of the cast came over and interacted with the fans because the ABC / Disney people there refused to allow it even when it appeared the cast were wanting to. After the party, many of the cast DID however stop for the very small group of fans that waited out there till slightly after 11 PM for the event to wrap up including former cast member & current iZombie star Rose McIver and most of the current cast including Colin O'Donoghue, Rebecca Mader and Sean Maguire who were the last actors to leave.

*correction - Post originally stated this was for episode 503, I have since then realized this is 502 and corrected it where I could.*
THIS POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 502 OF ONCE UPON A TIME. If you have not seen the episode and do not want any knowledge of the scenes prior to viewing the episode, do not view the photos or read the blog post below.
In a rare double treat for visiting fans of Once Upon A Time, the show filmed for a 2nd time in less than a week in Steveston back in July. Usually, theres 2 or 3 weeks in between shoots, but with only 5 days between their 1st & second shoots there, the fans in town got an extra chance to see some of their faves shoot. This time for episode 502. Directed by Romeo Tirone.
The first scene of the day had the public debut of Liam Garrigan as King Arthur. The scene had King Arthur and two others ride into Storybrooke. They are soon confronted by Lee Arenberg as Grumpy and other actor as Happy with pick axes in hand. The dwarves soon find though they are no match for the King and his men and find themselves on the ground at Arthurs feet.
Below I posted a photo of just how far away I was to shoot some of these pics, to give you some idea how far away I sometimes have to be to shoot scenes as the crew of OUAT have been given an unusually large (and I suspect at times, not legal) amount of leeway by the City of Richmond & the RCMP over having fans out of sight of the scenes for the most bullshit reasons most times ("we can see your reflection" being their new fave - No, you cant...and even if you can theoretically.... NO ONE even on a movie theatre sized screen will notice it since they are already a block away from where you are shooting... and if shows that actually win EMMYS can shoot with 400+ people right across the street. Once Upon A Time should be able to do it with 150-200 people). This might be the saddest statement about the show. The crew treats their fans THIS BAD ON PURPOSE, and all in the name of making the scenes "better", and the show still never gets nominated (aside from costumes & VFX...which people watching them film is never going to impact), let alone wins, major awards. Comical and pathetic all at once, to say the least. Anyways, rant aside.... this might give you an idea why sometimes these photos seem small, or blurry. In this particular instance, this was about 3 city blocks away.
After the morning scene, a couple other scenes were shot. One I completely missed because they did it so fast. it included Josh Dallas, as pictured below showing up at the set. But I have almost no info on the scene since it happened while I was out of sight of the street.
A little while later though, another scene around the corner, out of sight of the majority of fans was 1 with Jennifer Morrison dressed as Dark Emma and Colin O'Donoghue as Captain Hook. In the scene Emma walks towards Hook with a sinister grin on her face & they meet beside Emmas bug and she pulls him in close to her. The body language of Hook in the scene gives the impression he isn't impressed with whatever Emma is doing/saying. I did not hear any of the dialogue, so my interpretations COULD be off... so don't take what I saw/interpreted as fact.
In the evening, 1 final scene was shot. Out on the pier at the end of the Steveston docks with Jared Gilmore, Jennifer Morrison and Lana Parrilla.
The scene was quite heavily blocked, but little moments could be caught if you moved around enough to see around their heavily blocked scene. It appears Emma, Regina and Henry are on the pier having a chat. At the end of the chat Regina and Henry leave together looking quite unhappy/sad and Emma is left standing alone.
Similar to the early scene, this was shot far away from the fans. At least with this one, they didn't have to make up excuses for why they didn't let people closer. They simply closed the pier to public access.
During the break Lana acknowledged the fans with a wave & held up some type of fan made scrap book that she was given from someone there I'm guessing.

Apologies in advance for how grainy/fuzzy a few of the pics are. It was a relatively new camera at the time and I still was learning some of the settings, and apparently had something set on it that was not optimal.
In early April, Once Upon A Time wrapped their 4th season. One of their last days of filming was on location in Steveston, which is their often used location for part of downtown Storybrooke.
On this day they shot a couple scenes through out the day. starting in the early morning. A scene was shot which had several of the cast members laying on the ground including Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Timothy Webber and possibly Sean Maguire from what I could see. There may have been more that were out of view from me. Also in the scene was Jared Gilmore, but he seemed to be standing through it all.
What happened in the scene, I don't really know. Out of context, it really didn't make much sense to me, or others watching. Scenes often don't, but some of the time you can piece together what the general idea is...this was not one of those times.
After they shot that scene, the actors for the night scenes came out, did a quick read thru/rehearsal for the scene before heading back to their trailers to wait for night fall.
After they wrapped the daytime scene, they took a long break as they waited for the sun to set to shoot night scenes in the middle of downtown Steveston.
The night scenes consisted of Sean Maguire, Lana Parrilla, Colin O'Donogue, Jennifer Morrison, Josh Dallas and Ginnifer Goodwin shooting scenes in the middle of the street.
The scene appears to have some type of magic involved as the Regina Mills is frozen in the middle of the road, restrained by some unseen force. Robin Hood tries to rescue her, but is sent away by the "force". Eventually Emma comes in with Rumplestiltstins dagger and does her best He-Man impersonation which seemingly releases Regina from the mystery grip, and causes Emma to apparently vanish. Captain Hook looks on while Emma holds the dagger up and seemingly tries to convince her to not do whatever it is shes doing. Off to the side Snow White & Prince Charming stand in shock & horror as they watch all of this take place.
With this shoot being their last run in Steveston for the season most of the cast were quite good about coming over at 1 point or another to meet fans & sign autographs. Lana, Jennifer, Colin, Josh and Sean all met with the fans at different times throughout the night.
Once Upon A Time is nominated for May Madness, which is going on right now. You can vote HERE on current matches.

Once Upon A Time shoots scenes for episode 416 with Jennifer Morrison and Colin O'Donoghue in Steveston
This post contains photos and a brief description of scenes for filming of episode 416 of "Once Upon A Time". If you do not want to read or view possible spoilers prior to seeing the episode. Do not continue reading the article or viewing the photos.
Back on January 20th I caught up with the cast & crew of Once Upon A Time filming in downtown Steveston. I missed a large chink of the filming from earlier in the day, but got there for the last couple locations.
First up was a scene that had just Jennifer Morrison in it. The scene had her character Emma Swan run out into the middle of the street (seriously, the amount of times I see someone in Storybrooke just out randomly in the middle of the street is concerning. How are there not more accidental hit & runs?) and she clearly sees something upsetting. There was a couple takes prior to the scene where she seemed to be reacting to something that forced her to the ground...but I don't know what that was about since she never seemed to do it without her winter jacket on.
Later, they moved to the dock and had a scene where Jennifer & Colin O'Donoghue shot a scene as Emma & Captain Hook sharing a hug. The body language of the scene did not come across as an excited, happy to see you hug, but more of a sympathetic, "it will be ok" type hug.
Once Upon A Time returns tonight Sunday March 1, 2015 to ABC in the U.S. and to CTV in Canada.

Once Upon A Time shoots scenes for episode 412 in Steveston with several cast including 2 new big baddies.
THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS PHOTOS AND BREIF SCENE DESCRIPTIONS FOR EPISODE 412 OF "ONCE UPON A TIME". If you have not seen this episode and do not want to read or see possible spoilers from the episode, do not continue.
Back in November I caught the cast & crew of the ABC fantasy series Once Upon A Time shooting in Steveston for episode 412.
Like many trips to Steveston, the crew squeezed in as many scenes as they could to the small fishing village that stands in for Storybrooke, Maine.
With so many scenes set for the day, once again I saw many different cast throughout the day.
When I first got there, I saw Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Ginnifer Goodwin, Colin O'Donoghue & Emilie de Ravin shooting scenes in the middle of Monctor Street (aka - Main street in Storybrooke). The scene had Regina & Emma run towards something, then Hook, Mary & Belle come up behind shortly after.
In between takes the women eagerly grabbed their winter jackets to keep warm as Steveston has a reputation for being several degrees cooler than most other places in the Lower Mainland, while Colin seemingly seemed ok in his Hook attire. They continued filming with these 5 in the middle of the street before moving on to more scenes.
Then the crew moved on to scenes where Lana & Jared Gilmore shoot a quick scene that seems to show Henry getting ready to go to school (seriously, does this kid ever actually go to school anymore? Also, who is teaching the kids?? Mary seems busy with other things).
Next up was a scene where Jennifer drives down a street in the yellow Volkswagen Beetle that everyone knows as Emma Swan's car. Her passenger.... none other than Regina.
A little later, there was a scene next to Mr. Golds with Colin & Jen where they exchange a couple quick words, a quick hug/kiss and proceed along the sidewalk with their arms around each other. At the time I thought I had found a great spot to sneak pics of this scene.... only to find out when I walked around where the crowd was watching from they had a pretty good view of the scene as well.
Finally, scenes were done after it got dark in the middle of Moncton Street with Robert Carlyle and 2 cast members I had never seen prior to that moment. Victoria Smurfit & Merrin Dungey. Of course there has been plenty of news since this scene was shot about the 3 big bads of the back end of season 4 being Kristin Bauer van Straten as Maleficent, Smurfit as Cruella De Vil and Dungey as Ursula.... but at that time, no one really knew who Dungey was yet except for a couple fans that recognized her instantly.
The scene showed Cruella, Ursula and Mr. Gold walking aright down the middle of Main street talking and part or all of the topic of conversation seemed to be about Regina from what I could make out from snippets of conversation during the takes.
Once Upon A Time returns NEXT WEEK, Sunday March 1st on ABC in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada.
Every year I have a dilemma. Blog materials that I just don't get used up in time. Whether its because of scheduling, or because something better pushes it back, there are some blogs that never get posted because once the episode airs, the viewership on them drops substantially. Another problem that I have, which seems to be uniquely a Once Upon A Time problem is, getting too many blogs worth of material from 1 shoot.
Since the crew try to squeeze in 2 or 3 or 4 days worth of scenes into 1 day so as to not continually inconvenience the area with their filming when they are on location in Steveston, this often leads to several sets of photos of different scenes, and thus a backlog of sets from the show at once. So what happens is I will usually post 1 or 2 sets quickly, and the other sets get forgotten for awhile, or all together.
This happened again this year with several sets from OUAT that I have already wasted because the episodes have already aired and, while SOME of you may still like to see the pics, the mass majority don't care & thus making a blog post for a couple hundred views, for the effort it takes, is time wise, not worth it.
This brings us to THIS blog post, about material for episode 409 which obviously has long since passed.
Since you have seen the episode already, I will simply say. The pics below include director Mario Van Peebles, Jennifer Morrison, Scott Michael Foster, Elizabeth Lail, Georgina Haig, Robert Carlyle, Colin O'Donoghue & Emilie de Ravin in varions scenes through out the day.
Once Upon A Time is up for several 2014 Best Of TV Awards, voting on the Finals is going on right now thru till the 3rd week of January, 2015 HERE.
Once Upon A Time shoots scenes for episode 409 "Fall" with Jennifer Morrison and Georgina Haig in Steveston.
This post may contain spoilers for episode 409 of ONCE UPON A TIME. Please DO NOT continue reading or viewing photos if you do not want to see or read anything about the episode prior to its airing.
Once Upon A Time shot scenes for episode 409 "Fall" in Stevenston, BC in early October.
Several scenes were shot through out the day, and I will get to the others soon. This particular scene was between Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) and Elsa (Georgina Haig) in which they both seemed to wander across downtown Storybrooke from near Mr. Golds to the library following a pendant that Elsa is holding.
In the scene you can clearly see Elsa wearing her yellow ribbon on her wrist, although Emma has one on in the scene, it does not seem to be as visible.
More sets from this shoot will be posted later, including scenes with Elsa, Anna and Kristoff. As well as scenes between Mr. Gold, Captain Hook & Belle.
Once Upon A Time is up for several awards in the 2014 Best Of TV Awards going on right now here.
Season 4 of Once Upon A Time airs Sunday nights (except for next week) on ABC in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada.
