Once Upon A Time season 7 does some filming with Robert Carlyle and Rose Reynolds in Vancouver9/24/2017 THIS POST CONTAINS POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR "ONCE UPON A TIME" SEASON 7. IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS EPISODE YET, AND DO NOT WANT TO SEE OR READ POSSIBLE SPOILERS, DO NOT CONTINUE READING THE ARTICLE BELOW OR VIEWING THE PHOTOS AT THE BOTTOM. . . . last warning . . What an off season it was for Once Upon A Time. Never in my history of covering shows has so much happened to one show in the casting department. Gone as regulars are the shows longtime cast of Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Morrison, Josh Dallas, Jared Gilmore, Emilie de Ravin & Rebecca Mader. Coming in to fill all those holes? Andrew J West, Danai Ramirez, Gabrielle Anwar, Adelaide Kane, Rose Reynolds & maybe a few others? With only regulars Colin O'Donoghue, Lana Parrilla and Robert Carlyle holding together the shows past with its present, it has been on them to keep the dwindling fandom interested in coming back for the re-invention of the series that sees them move from a fictional town in Maine, to a fictional region of a real city in Washington State. I caught up with OUAT filming a scene for 1 of the earlier episodes a couple months ago in a niehgbourhood of Vancouver I used to live in. Earlier in the day they had a much more public shoot about a 5 minute drive from where I found them that had many more fans at it than the locale I was at where I was the ONLY person in attendance. On set this day was Robert Carlyle, as his new persona, which if you are to believe the fandom, is a detective by the name Mr. Weaver (I was unable to confirm his job, but his name IS confirmed.... this is just what I have been told from multiple sources. No official statement has stated this yet.). Gone is the old fancy suits of Mr. Gold and the scaly golden skin of Rumplestiltskin, now Bobby finds himself playing a character dressed in more casual attire, on this day, dressed in jeans & dark camouflage jacket. He was doing a scene with show newcomer, Rose Reynolds. While we have heard tidbits about the returning cast, we have heard little about the new cast. Reynolds is believed to be playing two characters, Alice, inspired by the Alice In Wonderland stories. As well as Tilly, who it is believed is in reference to 1 of Alices sisters. On this day, the scene they shot had Bobby walking across a quiet street in Hyperion Heights, the new fictional area they are all in thats supposedly part of Seattle. various extras were dressed like they were going to a costume party. Bobby comes up on a pair in the middle of the street, stops them by tapping 1 on the shoulder, when they turn around, a small interaction happens, before Bobby grabs the mask of the 1 actor and snaps it back at his face, before cutting between them & walking towards his final objective. He gets to a large weird looking art structure that looks somewhat like a tree, but is shaped like a creature with eyes, a mouth and hands. In the tree/artwork, we find Roses character casually playing with a rubix cube thats missing most of its coloured squares. The pair talk for a few moments, Rose then tosses the rubix cube to Bobby before she leaps up and states shes now "10 feet tall" in a very childish, almost juvenile tone. A bit more conversation goes on, before she hops out of the tree/artwork and down onto the ground where they talk more, before Rose grabs Bobbys hand and tels him to come with her as she starts to run away. Bobby casually lets go of her hand as she runs & skips up the street away from him while he casually walks in the same direction. They did this scene for a couple hours before I finally left. I dont know if there was anything different shot after their lunch break. THIS POST MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR A ONCE UPON A TIME EPISODE IN SEASON 6. If you do not want to see or read any potential spoilers before seeing the episode, do not continue reading or viewing this post. . . . last warning . . Once Upon A Time shot scenes for 1 of their final episodes of the season, episode 621, in Steveston in March with Robert Carlyle, Jared Gilmore, Jaime Murray, Beverley Elliott, Raphael Sbarge & Lee Arenberg on set during the day. An early scene saw Jared Gilmore, the co-Best Youth Actor Winner in the Best Of TV Awards this year as Henry Mills walking down the middle of Main Street (Moncton Street in Steveston) in Storybrooke with his story book, and no one seems to be around. Later scenes saw Beverley Elliott as Granny, Lee Arenberg as Leroy and Raphael Sbarge Dr. Hopper also on set, along with Jaime Murray as the Black Fairy & Robert Carlyle as Mr. Gold. The most interesting thing of the day, at some point Henry ends up so seriously injured, that he is being taken into an ambulance with a neckbrace on, and the Black Fairy is carrying the story book. I guess thats what you get for walking down the middle of Main Street. Later in the day, a scene was shot with Gold & Black Fairy sitting in Reginas car talking. She shows him a file on something, and he then gets out of the car and leaves, with a worried look on his face. Near the end of the day one of the shows creators, Adam Horowitz was on set talking with Robert Carlyle for a while on two separate occasions. At the end of the second talk, Robert gave him a hug, and left Adam as he went inside the actors holding area. Lots of people were assuming it was a talk about either trying to sign Robert back up, or a good bye chat. Neither of these cases can anyone confirm, since they were not in the talk, and anyone claiming to know otherwise, not named Robert carlyle or Adam Horowitz, is full of it. Once Upon A Time airs on Sunday nights on ABC in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada. If you have not seen this episode & want to avoid possible spoilers form it, do not continue reading the article or viewing the photos below . . . last warning . . Once Upon A Time shot 4 scenes in Steveston on Tuesday. One of them for episode 619, directed by BAFTA award winning director Alrick Riley, consisted of 3 cast, with the majority of focus on two... even though it was the other cast member that's going to generate the most buzz probably. This is the 2nd of the 3 blog posts I am doing on this day shooting. The first HERE with Colin O'Donoghue for episode 620, and this one HERE (still not posted, will link when completed) with Lana Parrilla and Jaime Murray for 619. I think I should apologize to Rumbelle fans from the get go, because I know I haven't had anything for them in quite a long time, and finally I get some shots for them and wellllllll, this post is probably going to be upstaged by something. Robert Carlyle & Emilie de Ravin filmed most of this scene outside Mr. Golds. The scene sees Gold come out first, clearly annoyed/angry with something and he makes a waving motion as if hes casting something away. Belle follows outside to confront him & the two have a talk that starts off with them clearly not in a good mood, but eventually the pair calm down, hold hands, before they are interrupted by Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan calling them back inside Golds shop. All three cast seemed in pretty good spirits on the set. Frequently Robert & Emilie were together going over lines in or around the door way of the fake storefront. I feel like there is something else I was supposed to mention. What was that again? I cant seem to put my finger on it. Wait, hold on, I think I am remembeRING. They did several takes of this scene with Emma in it, but for the most part it was a ho hum scene to me. That was till I saw tumblr & twitter chatter after the fact inquiring about Emmas wardrobe change. I then had to go thru all my photos to take a look... For ONE (maybe two?) takes there was a change in the stuff Emma Swan was wearing. It seems her outfit is slightly heavier now.... she was wearing an engagement ring for at least 1 of the takes. Now why she wasnt wearing it for the other takes is probably 1 of a few reasons. Most likely, depending what the camera angles were, it wasnt needed for the earlier takes. Same reason sometimes you see characters wearing their boots for a scene instead of the fancy shoes you might see in the scene when it airs, because for that set of takes, they werent going to be on camera.... so they didnt need to wear them. Probably the case with this ring as well, since earlier takes she definitely didnt have it on. Anyways... heres the only pics I got of it.... had I known of course that this was a thing, I would have tried getting closer up shots. As it is, I took these shots of the 3 actors grouped together, so I had to crop in tighter than I thought I would be when I shot these frames. Eventually Jennifer wrapped her scene. A little while later Robert & Emilie wrapped theirs after shooting the conversation part of the scene a few more times. Robert & Emilie then came over & met with the fans, and spent a substantial amount of time doing so. In fact the next scene, with Colin O'Donoghue had already started doing rehearsals behind them by the time Emilie was done with her part of the meet & greet. If you have not seen this episode and do not want to see or read any possible spoilers to the episode. Do not continue viewing or reading this post. . . . last warning . . Once Upon A Time filmed scenes for episode 605 in Steveston in August. Besides the night scene I posted earlier, there was 2 day scenes I saw as well. The first had e regular/semi-regular cast on set. As Robert Carlyle as Mr. Gold, Rebecca Mader as Zelena and Beverley Elliott as Granny were all on set. There was also a baby on set as you can see from the pics below. As well, there was a woman in a red top who COULD have been a guest star, or just an extra that was going to get more face time than most usually do because she was getting more attention from the crew than the average background extra gets. The scene was pretty long, but didn't reveal much except that we see Zelena go into Grannys Diners courtyard and sit down, and later on Mr. Gold leaves Grannys. Besides that, there was little to know about the scene. A bit later they filmed out on the street with Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan and Raphael Sbarge as Dr. Archie Hopper. After the shoot, Raphael came over & met with fans. This scene was much more visible and it seemed like Dr. Hopper was trying to talk Emma into or out of something before she turns on the engine and drives off. Once Upon A Time airs on Sundays on ABC in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada. This episode SHOULD be airing TONIGHT. You can find my other BTS photos of previous OUAT sets in my Once Upon A Time Blog section. You can find OUAT cast autographs in my Once Upon A Time Autographs section. THIS POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 523 OF "ONCE UPON A TIME". Do not continue reading or viewing the photos or article if you do not want to see/know anything about the episode prior to viewing it and have not yet seen the episode. . . . last warning . . Once Upon A Time filmed a scene for the season 5 finale at the Vancouver Art Gallery that included a large chunk of the main cast & a couple guest stars. Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Robert Carlyle, Jared Gilmore and Olivia Steele-Falconer were already on set as you may have read in my prior post here. Joining them for this last scene of the day Josh Dallas as Prince Charming, Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White, Colin O'Donoghue as Captain Hook, Rebecca Mader as Zelena and Hank Harris as Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde (unconfirmed yet... but my sources state thats his character). The scene, seemingly was a continuation of the earlier scene they shot that had the earlier cast standing staring into a fountain with a group of other people in new York City when suddenly out of nowhere, the 2nd group appears. The last we had seen of this group (minus Dr. Jekyl) they were being sucked through a magical door in the middle of downtown Storybrooke. How did they end up popping up in a fountain in New York city? More blogs for the finale coming, still have 2 to do from their last Steveston day of the season coming up this weekend. Once Upon A Time will air this 2 hour season finale on Sunday May 15, 2016 on ABC in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada. Once Upon A Time filmed scenes for the season 5 finale, episode 523 at the Vancouver Art Gallery in late March. This is the 2nd blog post about this shoot, you can find my previous one HERE In this scene there was several cast on hand, along with dozens of extras. The scene primarily focused on Jared Gilmore as Henry Mills, Lana Parrilla as Regina Mills, Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan and Olivia Steele-Falconer as Violet. Robert Carlyle as Mr. Gold was also there but I didnt see much of what his role in the scene was. He definitely wasnt front & centre of the main scene at the fountain as the other 4 were. The scene had Henry handing out pennies to a crowd of people around the fountain. They then all tossed their pennies into the fountain and "something" rises out of it. What that something is? No clue, it will surely be green screened in. I also never got an idea if it was good or evil because the facial expressions of everyone was all over the place. Eventually whatever this thing is seems to then crash down to earth and "something" is revealed to be there..... which you will see in the next blog post. This scene seemed to take up the majority of their filming day. During breaks the cast would do what they could to keep themselves entertained. Robert Carlyle came over & met fans on 1 break. Thank goodness for me. I had 4 things sent to me before the start of the season to get done by Robert, and it took me till this last day of location shooing for him this season to finish them off. Once Upon A Time filmed scenes for the season 5 finale at the Vancouver Art Gallery in late March, Its a location that pretty much every production in Vancouver has used at 1 time or another. It is easily 1 of the 5 most used locations in Vancouver, and maybe top 20 in North America with 2 large stair cases one on each side of the city block sized building, and an old courtroom inside (it used to be a courthouse) it is 1 of the most versatile locations around. It is quite common during TV season to come across more than 1 production using the location in a week. I even made note of it to a friend only a couple weeks prior to this shoot that "basically every show ever shot in Vancouver for any length of time has shot here but OUAT as far as I can recall"... and then voila, 2 weeks later they were there. An early scene was done with Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, Jared Gilmore as Henry Mills and guest star Olivia Steele-Falconer as Violet. The scene sees Henry and violet sitting outside a fountain in New York City. Emma comes up to the pair and speaks to the pair, Violet then gets up, allowing Emma to sit down and talk to Henry for a couple minutes. The scene clearly looks like a set up to the next scenes that were shot there that day that you will be able to find in future blog posts HERE and HERE (links will be added once they have been created) While this scene was winding down and finishing off their last takes, cast for the next scene showed up in the form of Robert Carlyle as Mr. Gold and Lana Parrilla as Regina Mills.
